Based on insufficient reservations within the first few days of release, we have decided to cancel this project.
Any project can and will receive both positive, and negative, reaction(s), unfortunately.

So after "several, several months" of work you decide to cancel based on lack of reservations in only the first few days? Not to mention that you already had 18 reservations.
Doesn't seem like that much work went into this project if you'd cancel so quickly.
