21  Economy / Service Discussion / Safello vs CoinBase on: August 21, 2014, 06:44:03 PM
In some articles Safello is described as a "CoinBase for Europe", but it's far away from the truth, at least in my opinion. First let's describe the features of each service, let's start with CoinBase.

This is what CoinBase have to offer:

- A secure online wallet to allow anyone worldwide store, receive and send BTCBitcoin. More info about security here: https://coinbase.com/security
- For holding large amounts they created a new service called 'Vault': https://coinbase.com/vault
- Free fees off-the blockchain trasactions between CoinBase users.
- When sending an amount equal or larger than BTC0.001 (1mBTC) they pay the miner fees.
- (For US-Residents only) BTC/USD trading.

So as you can see, CoinBase isn't just a wallet or an exchange, is much more.

What have Safello to offer:
- (For Europe Only) Bitcoin instant purchase via SOFORT banking
- (For Europe Only) BTC/EUR (And other currencies used within the European Economical Area) trading.

So basically, they are just an exchange, the only thing that make them different from BTC-e is that they support SOFORT which is not supported yet on BTC-e. And their service is only available for Europe.

Would you be willing to buy $3.50 btc for paypal
Nah, too small to be worth the time

However you said this on my thread:
I'd be glad to give you Paypal for your coins with just a 3% exchange fee.  Check my thread over here.  Or you can just go with the strategy that has never failed and HODL

Your offer is not available any more?
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Global Payments Accept Bitcoin on: August 21, 2014, 02:58:56 PM
That's good news. Through Bitpay and Coinbase many companies accepted BTC. I think BTC will get more users.
But still, I don't think the price will rise because of this though BTC will get a good attention. They will probably dump BTC to get a currency they need. Correct me if I am wrong. Smiley
Kindly,
       MZ

Well, I already thought that possibility, the problem is that when a merchant uses BitPay it don't even see the BTC, instead they are paid in fiat by BitPay. In a similar way when a merchant uses CoinBase probably will dump automatically the BTC for fiat... In other words, the merchants using these platforms are not really accepting BTC, they are not changing their minds about the way we use money.

So, as a result, if the volume of merchants using these solutions increase it will result in more "sell orders" of BTC on the exchanges this means the offer of BTC increase and if offer is more than demand the price will tend to drop.

We were very excited about this news because we though that this will be good for BTC but, maybe it will affect negatively the BTC instead.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Global Payments Accept Bitcoin on: August 19, 2014, 01:05:57 PM
Oh, damn it! I confused it with this other company http://www.globalcollect.com/ it's used by Steam. If Steam accepts Bitcoin, the price will rise to the moon.

You say Steam is under Globalcollect and that they will accept Bitcoin? If that happens price will go over the f*cking moon! Imagine how many games would use Bitcoin rather then PayPal, this is amazing if it goes through.

Yeah, Global Payment is one of the most important competitors Global Collect, so if that move makes them to increase their popularity, it's very probable that Global Collect will follow their example. And By The Way, I know that Steam is using Global Collect because I used PaySafecard to purchase some games, and on the PaySafecard account in the purchase order was listed Global Collect instead of Steam.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / When minting CAPTcoin, only one previous output is used? on: August 19, 2014, 11:01:43 AM
I don't know exactly how this "minting" process works on PoS Crypto-Currencies, but analysing my mintings I noticed that each time I mint it used a previous unspent output as source along with an extra value, which are the new generated coins and are shown as "fee", and the destination is the same address used as source. Such amount are placed at stake and is necessary to wait for it to "mature".

So my question is: every time is used only one previous output? If that's the case I noticed also that as much large is the amount used for stake the generated amount will be bigger, so... Maybe it would be better to send a significant amount of my coins to new generated address of my own, so the minting will be more profitable?

The subject on the OP is pretty misledaing.  But I can't figure out from the cnbc article - are they just referring merchants to Bitpay, or are they partnering with Bitpay to provide an integrated fiat/credit/bitcoin payment solution to merchants?

Global Payments is a service in fact similar to BitPay, it's a payment platform to help merchants integrate several payment options, they can handle the payments and send money to the merchant directly in $USD to his bank (or whatever payment method the merchant prefer). Now that has partnered with BitPay, Bitcoin will be another payment method that ANY merchant using their service can integrate easily. Sadly, Steam and many other companies are using the other payment platform that I mentioned on the first line of this post, but now that a competitor has integrated Bitcoin, probably sooner or later Global Collect will accept BTC too.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Media's Death-Grasp On Bitcoin Price on: August 18, 2014, 03:31:13 PM
Most people don't get their news from mainstream media here. It usually happens from rumour or fud from other places. Many sources can have an effect on price.

A simple rumour can influence on the price of BTC so easily? If it were so simple to manipulate the BTC price many traders would take advantage from it.

All threads on this forum have an banner ad there.

Oh! it was not part of the signature, it's an advertisement from the site itself.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Media's Death-Grasp On Bitcoin Price on: August 18, 2014, 01:47:47 PM
It's not the media that has a grasp but people panic selling etc. If people didn't pay attention to news and fud etc there would be no problem.

Well, I personally don't watch the TV (I'm the whole day in front of my computer  Cheesy), and neither go to Google News or similar... But for good or bad, that's not the "standard" case, there are actually a lot of people who watch the news via TV or other media, it's not matter of paying attention to the news or not, it's matter of trust. If a trustful(at lest trustful for the watcher) source say that using Bitcoin is a bad idea, that is used mainly on the black market, drugs traffic, etc... if that person holds some significant amount in BTC, obviously will panic and sell them quick, it's the natural reaction.

The key is that you should not trust on a news source just because it's mainstream

Sorry, I don't read the threads of people with banner ads, as I just assume everything they do is to get views/clicks for money in their pocket.
Banner ad? He doesn't have one. And that's pretty cynical and also obviously untrue.

Actually there is one, on the footer of the post, but c'mon that's not technically an ad, it's just a promotion of a gambling site. Using the signatures to promote pages that you are affiliate with or your own projects is something very normal and it should not be considered spam.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Media's Death-Grasp On Bitcoin Price on: August 18, 2014, 10:56:08 AM
There was a recent clip about btc on my local news station and although there were some positives it mainly focused on the negative aspects like hacking, lack of customer protection and price volatility etc. We defo need some sort of official PR to counter all the bullshit

Oh! So that's the reason of the Bitcoin price going down, I knew there was something strange because according to www.bitcoincharts.com the last month Dell, an airline, a German newspaper and Wikipedia started to accept Bitcoin, that means more acceptance of the Bitcoin by merchants and other entities, and more acceptance should produce an increase in the Bitcoin value, however it's happening the opposite.
30  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [ANN] Microwallet.org - API + free faucet script, start your own faucet! on: August 15, 2014, 07:46:38 AM
It seems nobody noticed this info (me included) so I will quote it here in bold.

I haven't seen any mention of what happens to user balances. Do users need to lower their withdrawal amount to get paid before microwallet shuts down, or will everybody automatically get paid their balance?
Automatic if you have more than 5825 satoshi. If you have less than that you will able to withdraw manually to a new service for at least 2 months.
31  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [ANN] Microwallet.org - API + free faucet script, start your own faucet! on: August 14, 2014, 09:24:33 PM
Bitcoin price went down right after Microwallet announce that they are closing down. Coincidence? I think not xD

Haha, it was on a "down stream" before that, I don't think that a micropayment cache could make the BTC value go down, this is not Mt Gox.

4. Microwallet site will be closed after most faucets switched.

I'm also interested in know that, just in case I will stay away from microwallet for while (I lowered the withdrawal amount and I switched to BitChest and CoinBox faucets, but there are only a few ones, microwallet had more acceptance between faucet owners)

33  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Land of Bitcoin.com - Bitcoin faucet, faucet aggregator and more on: August 14, 2014, 07:12:38 AM
Yeah, the info is gone completely now, maybe it will not shut down, let's hope so, there are about 80 faucets on LandOfBitcoin that use Microwallet
34  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Land of Bitcoin.com - Bitcoin faucet, faucet aggregator and more on: August 13, 2014, 06:00:09 PM
What will happen to our claimed satoshi that directly stored in microwallet, from each faucet, when microwallet will shutting down this month?  After that, where will our satoshi be stored before it totally sent to our btc wallet?
From where you have this news that Microwallet is going to shut down if its true then you are giving me some good information on time
It was posted on the www.microwallet.org site, where it says "Buy the source code of this site and run your own site." previously was "This free service is shutting down on September. Buy the source code of this site and run your own site." and previously to that was also just "Buy the source code of this site and run your own site."... WTF!? Maybe the admin is thinking about close it or not, or maybe there are already some interested buyers and the service will continue running but with a new admin.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⟳ [CAPT] CAPTcoin - The best distributed PoS: 5,802 unique addresses in 18 days! on: August 13, 2014, 02:48:14 PM
What I'm going to discuss here probably has been already discussed but I'm too lazy to review a 55 pages thread.
Mr. Admin of the CAPTcoin, you are giving the opportunity of getting the coins via web by solving a set of 3 CAPT-chas, so everyone can get a probably fair share of the coins, however you, as the admin, could easily auto-assign rewards to yourself, and you will be getting an UNFAIR share of the coins. How can we know that you are not doing it? How the reward system works?

Every time a claim is made, the system adds the reward to your balance, then every 12 hours (9am and 9pm UTC-5), the system automatically generates transactions, which you can see here:
http://get.captcoin.com/tx.html

Then I manually copy the sendmany commands and execute them. So you could check that.
The execution is manual to prevent having the coins in the server, but I just copy and paste the commands.

Also, here you can see the top addresses that have claimed the coins:
http://get.captcoin.com/addresses.html

This will be useful too:
https://forum.captcoin.com/index.php/topic,6.0.html

Well, actually there is no way to proof that you aren't getting your coins unfairly, the only thing that I can see there is a bunch of addresses that I don't know, so who knows if there are some addresses managed by you in there (with an auto-assigned reward between the average)? The only way to proof that this is not happening is to convince users to identify their addresses on the transactions, but that will go against the anonymity, which is one of the advantages of using crypto-currencies. It's impossible to convince them all, so it's impossible to proof that.

Maybe is happening or maybe not, but it's obvious that is actually possible to do it without get caught (the anonymity has also its dark side). And that can happen with any Crypto Currency in which the distribution is centralized like with Latium, in fact I'm pretty sure that the Latium admin is currently printing money (literally). The difference with CAPTcoin is that unlike Latium, it has a limited "free distribution time"(I quoted this to indicate that after the initial distribution, faucets may appear), and after that time the only way to generate new coins will be by minting.

I almost get a full CAPT coin each time it mints  Cool

Long Live CAPT coin!

And how much CAPTcoin are you holding to achieve that? And how much time it takes to mint?

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction DBs for Out of Sync Desktop Wallets on: August 12, 2014, 04:38:02 PM
CAPTcoin blockchain added (Last Sync: 12 Aug 2014 18:30 GMT+1)
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Zipped Sync Data for Desktop Wallets on: August 12, 2014, 02:58:24 PM
Are you tired of having to download the whole blockchain when syncing your desktop wallet the first time you try a new cryptocurrency? Or when it have passed some time since the last sync? I have the solution for you.

The Sync process of the Desktop wallets may be slow because it needs to find active peers. I had a good idea to solve it. I uploaded the TX DBs of some wallets to my Dropbox. You can download them here:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/g3ozd6ugpvq95dz/AAC9xKLFmhoyyfAJAmOCatbsa

By the time writing I only have the Latium DB (last sync: 12 Aug 2014, 16:30 GMT+1), but I hope to upload other wallets DBs soon and I would like your help to get it working.

And how to put it to your wallet, just unzip (the files are compressed in 7-Zip format) the files to the location where your wallet stores the transactions Database. For Windows Latium Wallets it's on %AppData%\Latium

I hope this will save some time.

If you want to help me you can join Dropbox as my referral so I will get extra space
https://db.tt/4bZq3q1

If you are interested in contributing with some Wallets DB I can give you access with upload privileges to that folder. Just send me the e-mail used to signup to lordscales91@hotmail.com

If there is any issue or you have any doubt just post it here.

I will try to update the wallets at least once per week.

Have a nice day  Smiley

40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What should I do with over $4-5 worth in BTC? on: August 05, 2014, 07:56:19 AM
I think that this is going a little off-topic, but since some of you are saying that I "spent time" I will explain you why I didn't "spent time", because it was time that was already lost. God of War Ascension: stuck in the Archimedes trial, Pandora's Tower(Wii) it was a good game, but it has that time trial element that I hate, also it get too difficult at some point, Heavenly Sword: stuck in the final battle, because instead of letting you go to the battlefield you need to use a cannon to destroy the enemy ships, if Nariko were more like Kratos she will jump into the battlefield and destroy that ships herself, but no, you need to use a damn cannon and effect the ball in slow-motion to hit the ships weak points, which is something very difficult... And that were just the most important ones, and because of that I'm a little tired of videogames, well lastly I'm playing Mini-ninjas (which I purchased with BTC) and I love it.

But if you take out videogames what are left to do in your free time? I don't like reading, so that's not an option. I'm interested in 3D modelling, but I need a better computer to handle it correctly... So basically I'm in a point where my free time is lost, because I have nothing to do on it. That's why I decided to try to make that profitable, there was nothing to loose.

It's ironic however that even if I'm tired of videogames I ended purchasing videogames with the BTC that I gathered, that's because indie games may be better and more fun than some of the games mentioned above. I'm enjoying mini-ninjas more than Pandora's Tower for example, and it's so funny (ninininininininini-ninja).

I already decided that I will use BTC to purchase Humble Bundles, so there is no need to keep this topic open, thanks for your suggestions.
