21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 21, 2016, 06:55:11 PM
Hello everyone,

I just updated the Lisk <-> Ethereum comparison chart. Please note that as a fan of all decentralized technologies this is a serious effort to compare both platforms. Unfortunately, I'm not up-to-date on Ethereum. If an information is wrong, please send me an email and I will fix it asap.

Under Blockchain Apps/Smart Contracts, it says "defined by dapp dev," it should be blockchain app dev with change in terminology.

100+ votes so far: https://twitter.com/AceOfWallStreet/status/733765287850315776
Over 50% think LSK will reach over 0.001 BTC but a good number still think LSK will dump.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WINGS - Where DAO Unicorns Are Born on: May 20, 2016, 04:26:46 AM
Bitmain is a financial investor behind Wings. Bitmain invested because we see a great team, and we know about only recently the specific details of Wings and it's no letdown at all.

we hope to see Wings grows into a successful platform for launching DAOs over Rootstock and Ethereum, being an accelerator for the innovation on the public blockchain.

What do you mean by invested? Is the ICO over?

To answer both your questions:

  • After meeting the guys, Bitmain agreed to provide strategic funding for the team which is engineering the Wings DAO platform.
  • The ICO has not even started nor was it announced yet. Please subscribe to our newsletter or join our Telegram group to hear more details.
Additionally, the ICO will be DAO actually, with Wings platform performing it as the first launched DAO project

This looks like a promising project. Not sure if I'm liking the name, it's a bit fruity for something that's supposed to be an organization.

Who is going to create The DAO for LISK?
The DAO could also be a delegate, redistributing LISK it earns to DAO token holders or use it to fund DAO proposals.

I think this is still worth considering.
I also like the change from DApp to Blockchain App. It sounds better I think.

I went all in DAO some week ago. It is hard to resist a 50/50 chance lottery.
It looks like i got in at the right time anyway before ETH took off.

Now it is time to just sit back and hope for the best.

I was planing to buy ETH for DAO yesterday and the price went up.
ETH sure made it right this time. If DAO will be widely use in the future as a token to invest on projects, DAO will also have higher value too which we all want.

how can the DAO coin get a higher value as the the amount of ETH it has collected to fund their projects?

when DAO is fund, so the value of the DAO coin will be the sum of the ETH its holding.

That's what I was thinking

That's like saying the market cap of a corp can't be higher than the money in their bank account.  Once the Token is issued,  the rate of the token will be the market cap and that will be driven by speculation of how the money in the bank (eth) will be invested.

Not just that.

DAO as a hedge within Ethereum

Can anyone comment on the privacy solution offered by BTCD? They have termed it Teleport and Telepathy.
Teleport seems to have components of XMR's solution to privacy:
"In a mantissa attack you are identified because of the exact size of your transaction.
That makes your transaction distinctive among others and it is easy to spot you on the blockchain.
To remove this threat the telepods use standard denominations, i.e.100, 50,10, 5,1 and so on."
I've seen comparisons of XMR with other anon-centric coins but not with BTCD.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ziftrCOIN/comments/4cghiz/the_first_of_many_updates_from_the_gocoin_team/

"we’ll be using the 300 million pre-mined coins for giveaways and promotions with our merchants. At this point the Redemption Guarantee ($1 or 5%) will be active with participating merchants."

Basically making any of the current coins people have mined worthless. Although with a measly $25,000 market cap and 12,773,630 in circulation one could argue that the coin is already worthless.

This coin has been neglected for over a year by those that released it.  They got their btc from the presale and have done nothing since.  Their merger with gocoin is no excuse for neglecting the people that may have invested in this coin well over a year ago.  The lack of communication shows they don't care.  And why should they?  They got their btc and that was the purpose of ziftrcoin from the beginning..

Uh...the giveaway was planned from day one, before the genesis block was even mined. That's been the plan all along, and it's what will give the coin value as a currency. They don't have to rely on hype, speculators and bubbles to give it a perception of value...they'll give it value by making it reliably valuable, and that's what the redemption minimum is about. Seeing that you can save $5 on a purchase if you buy 5 GoCoin to do it with, and with GoCoin trading for pennies, it would make sense to MOST people to go ahead and buy some to hang onto and use. If it gains value while you're holding it, great...but you know that you'll be able to redeem them for $1 each with GoCoin merchants. So it's a win/win. If enough people see that, then the price will climb due to demand. It won't happen fast, it's not probably going to be a bubble, but I still believe it's going to grow over time, and through use. If it gains enough popularity, though, and the price starts to climb at a decent speed, you'd better believe the speculators will see it. That can be a catalyst...especially because if it reaches $1 or more, they've stated there won't be a limit to how much of it you can spend.

This coin will derive its value from places that most crypto enthusiasts are not used to it coming from: Its use as a currency.

In a nutshell!

Nicely said.

I spoke to GoCoin CEO recently & he showed me compelling progress and comprehensive merchant integration.

Yes, it sucks how long it takes.

My own work in Crypto went "stealth" over a year ago because of competition & outright corporate theft.

Much better "Safe than sorry!!!"
so the work is worth it or find another option for your investment portfolio?

I'm not an Investor.  I'm a Supporter.  ZRC, now GoCoin, is supposed to help mainstream digital currencies & bring in 1 million new Crypto users.  I got a relatively small amount during the "Pre-Sale" & I don't mind holding 1-2 years, if that's what it takes.
Steve Beauregard is a talented, stand-up guy, IMO.
I support many emerging cryptos.
And...Some of them sucked!
Please don't look for my advice, I can only offer my personal opinions....

Other than being able to actually use ZRC/GoPoints, I expect GoCoin to launch an exchange of some sort where you can buy/sell GoPoints for fiat or other crypto (possibly included in the platform itself). Having a platform that you can just use GoPoints on is the first step but you also need a way for people to easily earn GoPoints whether it's through some rewards program/promotion or allowing for them to purchase it directly from a source. Instead of launching their own exchange, GoCoin could just partner with an already existing one. However, seeing as GoCoin already deals with payment processing I don't think it would be that difficult for them to over it themselves.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitland - ICO - Decentralized Land Registry on: May 18, 2016, 12:32:27 AM
Someone messaged me about my assertion about the 300% being "equal" no matter what values you are presenting.  That is complete absurdity.

Asserting that "all 300% are equal" is a fundamental misunderstanding of mathematics.  Saying that the percentage proportion is the same as the integral proportion is one thing, but that does not necessarily reflect the change in direct value.  Meaning, that going from $3-$12 is unquestionably %300 increase, but it is also an increase of $8.  Going from an increase of $.04 to $.12 is $.08.

The difference in actual value is 100X.  $8 is 100 X $.08.

Trying to make the difference in value the same is either disingenuous, trolling, or that person does not understand "values".

Equating a difference of $.08 and $8,000 because the change in values were "proportionally" the same is a stretch of logic at best, and complete trolling at worst.

Also, the person who tried to call me out on my math presented this:
0.04 - 0.012 is exactly the same as $4000 - $12000

Cheers!

Chris

The % increase is the same regardless of it starting at $0.08 or $8000. However, it is incorrect to say that the increase is the same for all mathematical aspects, as Tabali tigi has said. From an actual value increase, $0.04 - $0.12 is much less of an increase than $3 - $12. Provided Bitland can actually work with locals and the local government, this project has some potential. Technical expertise and blockchain technology will not be as important (at least initially) as actual time being put in to develop relations for Bitland with Ghana and setting up the necessary foundations for Bitland.
