I use Private Internet Access when on public wifi or at home so my information can't be sniffed anyway.

We should all use a VPN, at least for the sake of making things harder for the NSA Smiley

no, i'm talking of the CENT/XPM market on cryptsy (went from 1 to 3, sometimes even 4)

Cool...  I didn't know that Cryptsy revived CENT...  Now I'll be able to dump those sh!tcoins and get back a few milli-BTC  Tongue
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! WE HAVE LIFTOFF! on: January 29, 2014, 01:16:31 PM
Could not have gone a low as CENT, cause it has not that disastrous stake issue

however CENT is rising again these days (after stake fix) ... amazingly

Maybe, but the number of MOON in circulation is still just ridiculous.

CENT is not rising...  For all practical purpose it's dead.  If you're talking on the very closed market of BTER, in it's little walled garden where you can't get CENT in, and can't get CENT out, then you should not even call it CENT...  At least BTERCENT, which has as lost all attachment to CENT.  Roll Eyes

People should have bought in at 11 while it was really cheap.

I should have bought at 1 Satoshi back a few days ago...  Argh Roll Eyes

I taught it would do like pennies (CENT).  It was looking pretty much like it, with tons of sell at 1, no buy...
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! WE HAVE LIFTOFF! on: January 28, 2014, 05:52:16 PM
Reach mooncoin ever 0.00000039 btc again ? I want to sell this s**t coins

be patient a few days. It will go up and down and up and down and ....

Buy low, sell high, re-buy low, re-sell high...  Well, you see the pattern Smiley

The only problem is knowing when it's low.  The only thing I see in the past few hours is a bull trap, to lower price...

Fatal problem with MOON, as many other coins, is the too high amount of coins given.  Giving too many coins per blocks, don't expect the coin to be worth more than a few Satoshi.  Think about it.  If it's worth anything more, than everyone would be a millionaire.  Why do you think that the more and more the U.S. (or any other country) print bank notes, the less and less the currency is worth?  If tomorrow, each and everyone had 1 million $ USD, then 1M$ USD would be worth noting.  That's the same with any virtual currencies.

Why do you think MOON stay in the Satoshi, while 42-coin opened trade and is still worth more than 300$...?

I'm not shitting on the coin.  And I find it EXTRAORDINARY that it was ever worth more than 2 Satoshi!  But one must come to the obvious.

Also, on a more technical side, there's a really major flaw with a coin with such a high number of coins, is that it is bound (be design actually) to overflow and crash.  The max number of coins is 384,400,000,000.  That is 384,400,000,000 * 100,000,000 Satoshi = 38,440,000,000,000,000,000 Satoshi.

38,440,000,000,000,000,000 is a big number.  A really big number.  Such a big number in fact that it no longer fit in a 64-bit integer (2^64 = 18,446,744,073,709,551,616), which is what Bitcoin (and other altcoins) code is based upon.  So, this coin is be design bound to overflow someday.

So, the slogan is "WE HAVE LIFTOFF"...  Let's hope it doesn't end up as the Cluster spacecraft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_%28spacecraft%29), which ironically ended-up crashing 37-second in-flight due to the EXACT same bug...  an integer overflow!

You can look at https://coinex.pw/mining/pools for the difficulty and hashrate.

I really think that this coin will be worth 0.001 BTC per OSC  in the near/medium future.  The reason is if you look at other coins with similar max number of coins, they almost all get in that general area.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CoinEX profit Switchpools Scrypt/SHA on: January 26, 2014, 03:56:48 AM
Anyone having problem with switchpool SHA256?  I can't connect to it, and tries a few times at different part of the day/week.

I can connect to specific coin's pools, like OSC, but not the switchpool.

Ex, this works (OSC)
bfgminer -G -o stratum+tcp://stratum.coinex.pw:9025 -u <username.worker> -p <password>

But this doesn't (SwitchPool SHA256)
bfgminer -G -o stratum+tcp://stratum.coinex.pw:9944 -u <username.worker> -p <password>

By "doesn't work" i mean that there doesn't seem to be any connections.  I don't get work at all.

Regards,
Eric

Sorry, my bad...  Had to use for username just the worker name (and not username.workername).

Massive rise Shocked  Passed steadily from 800 Satoshi to 1000 Satoshi in a few hours, and then to 1500 in under an hour...  any news?

Edit: Ah, the Chinese again... Probably!  http://www.guogao.com/trade/VEL/  They must be seeing something I don't see.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OSC]OpenSourcecoin-- Traded @ OpenEx on: January 21, 2014, 04:35:30 PM
It's sad to see this coin going down...  Cry  All other coins with similar "max number of coins" trade for MUCH higher.  Well, let's hope that someday it will go up to 0.001BTC per OSC.  Roll Eyes

Indeed, this coin lack promotion.  See on the other end, the DOGE coins, which imho isn't worth any more than MOON coins or other sh!t coins (due to the ridiculous amount of coins being given per block), getting higher and higher, just because of marketing (we ear of DOGEcoins everywhere, for no other reason than saying 'doggy' in a news article)...

Is there a calculator somewhere?  I tried with my CPU and getting 1.75K per core.  I ran it for like 23 minutes and it found only one share.  Is tat really worthless or is that not too bad?
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 42 | + | + super rare + | + | + | + only 42 coins to be mined + | + | + | on: January 16, 2014, 03:24:26 PM
and you need to divide it by 1000 because.. hmm.. you said so?

Because the current market seem to be at around that for now, but it's a rough estimate.  LTC is an exception, which seem to have come out on it's own.  The factor is about divide by 10, mainly because it has come out on it's own, as a 'grown-up' coin!  But remember it used to be worth 100 times less for a loooong time, which used to be 'divide by 1000'...
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 42 | + | + super rare + | + | + | + only 42 coins to be mined + | + | + | on: January 16, 2014, 03:10:01 PM
Plain and simple formula to compute how a coin is really worth is:

BTC max number of coins divided by target coin's max number of coins.   Then divide by 1000.

Ex:
- BTC max number of coins = 21,000,000
- VEL max number of coins = 42

21,000,000 / 42 = 500,000
500,000 / 1000 = 500

So, VEL is worth 500BTC.

Try it with other coins...  Sure, some are hyped-up.  Some are undervalued.  Can depend on a lot of factors, like under-marketing of a coin, over-hype, ...  And the 'divide by 1000' factor at the end also can fluctuate.  But it's a good start.

Ex: TRC
- BTC max number of coins = 21,000,000
- TRC max number of coins = 42,000,000

21,000,000 / 42,000,000 = 0.5
0.5 / 1000 = 0.0005

which is about the current price point, 0.0005 BTC.
37  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello from CoinedUp.com on: January 16, 2014, 01:49:56 PM
One big problem with coinedup is the trading priority.

If you look at VEL (VelocityCoin) for example, it was at one point 300 Satoshi.  Then you see tons of trades jumping from 300 and 550 Satoshi, but at no times the sell orders put bellow 550 Satoshi got filled.

For example, price is 300.  you have sell orders at 350, 400, 450, 500 and 550.  Then you look the graph, you see prices at 300, then 550, then 300 again, then 550 again.  But the sell orders at 350, 400, 450 and 500 are still intact.

So, WHY DOES SELLS OCCURS AT 550 if those bellow doesn't get filled first?  Until this is fixed, that is pure junk trading site.

Anyone has problem syncing?  I tried twice (deleting the blockchain DB in between) and both time it sync up to block 50623.  Then, I left it for 24+ hours and no more blocks get sync.

Wait what? They run a website they manually update, when it's run on programmable hardware? Why not code that in ffs Tongue

CoinEX API (or if it's worth calling it an API) sucks.  It only list buy/sell market data, and not the last trading price.  And that was before a week or two ago.  Now that the admin has enabled cloudflare DDOS protection, that stupid protection now bar any automated programs using the API (or any other way to extract trading data from the site).

So, yes, CoinEX updates are manual...  Not CoinWarz problem, but rather CoinEX problem.

Latest answer from CoinEx is "We know about this limited API, a fix is planned... someday.  We have bigger fish to work on in the coming days, so API is low priority".  And this was before the cloudflare DDOS protection problem.  Since them, no more comments.  So, we're back at a "wait and don't ask when it will be there" round.  "Come back in a few weeks, maybe you'll be lucky..."  Undecided
