Ok that makes sense Serraz, I have been in and out a bit as I get the computers setup and optimised.
Now one just went offline while I am at work...I knew I should have restarted it last night!
--> Edit: logmein.com to the rescue...computer crashed and I was able to hit it with a wake-on-lan and get it working again. yay!

Hey Mate,

I also live in Australia. I recommend using the US Stratum server as i seem to get the best connection from that as well as other Australian users.

PPLNS can vary on luck. If you do think there is a problem with the estimate i will defiantly take a look at it for you.

Cool, I switched back to stratum+tcp://stratum.give-me-ltc.com:3333 from the US Donor server.

If luck is in there that might be the problem.
I finally have the two computers fully set up and running since last night so will run for 24 hours and see how it comes out.

I am just wondering what the best server would be for me to connect to?

I am a donor and living in Australia.
I seem to get a lot lower coins than what the estimate says on the Stats page, somewhere between half and 75%.

Cheers Serraz and Khaos for the hard work and a great pool.

Would it be possible to get email notifications on payouts as well as workers that are down?

Any one know how people are getting such high hash rates? A quick calculation says that the top person would need over 140 7970's. They must have a very understanding wife...mine isn't down with the four 7970's I have Wink

You are not alone with this. It seems there are certain 7970s out there that do not follow the trends that others have laid out.  Can you give some details of your setup, OS, card brand, asic quality, driver and sdk version etc. Maybe we can find some common ground to figure out why they under perform.

Yes I was surprised about this as well.

I had 2 x Sapphire OC 7970's that do 650KHs at 950/1425. They sit at under 70c as well and at 1.025volts which is great as it saves power.

Next I got 2 MSI 7970 OC with the reference cooler. I went straight to 950/1425 thinking that would work but they got under 400KHs, WTF!
After playing around the best I could get was about 612KHs at 909/1575 and 1.030 volts. I am thinking the MSI cards might need their RAM clocked even higher but Afterburner stops at 1575MHZ.

Using CGMiner with the following start line:
cgminer.exe --scrypt --config my.conf --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 13 -g 2 -w 256

Has anyone tried CGMiner with higher thread concurrencies for 7970's?

Are the Ozcoin Litecoin servers in Australia?

I am mining from Australia but unsure on how proximity matters for mining.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Consolidated Litecoin Mining Guide for 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx GPUs on: March 29, 2013, 09:34:10 AM
I seem to have things working pretty well now with acceptable heat and power usage.
 One question though - not all my ram is being used. I thought to be optimised LTC mining should be using the full amount of video card RAM. Currently 2362 MB out of 3072 MB is used.
Is that to do with thread concurrency?

My settings are as follows:

Command line:
cgminer.exe --scrypt --config gml.conf --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 13 -g 2 -w 256

Config file:
pool config
pool config
pool config

"expiry" : "120",
"failover-only" : true,
"log" : "5",
"queue" : "1",
"scan-time" : "60",
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",

I originally had all the GPU info in the config file about fan settings etc but have now set MSI Afterburner to handle that.
GPU settings:
950/1425MHZ @1.025v (reports as 1.05v with GPUZ)
Fans are hovering around 72% at 72C.

That gives me a stable 1.26MH/s.

Ok I changed some stuff around and tried some different overclock settings. I pushed up GPU an Mem and got 1.38MH/s but a corresponding increase of 150watts used in the system. Not worth it.

So I dropped back to the above settings but now the cards are only using 1391MB out of 3072MB of video ram. getting 1.296MH/s.

Does that sound right? I really thought the video RAM should all be used.

Edit for correct MH/s

Hey all, pretty new to this mining thing. Just jumped over to give GML a try.
Liking the website and all the graphs, nice work so I put in a donation on my account. If the LTC/day estimate on the stats page pays out I'll be very happy Smiley

No idea what stratum is as I have only been messing around for a week with mining. Figured my gaming PC should be earning some money while I am at work.

Cheers.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ozcoin Litecoin Prop Pool CLOSING | DGM/PPS pool in beta on: March 27, 2013, 10:09:44 PM
Hey all, I have just started mining on my gaming machine. I have been testing mining programs and various configurations to get a decent hash rate and acceptable power/cooling levels.

I have settled on 1200KHs, this is still running a little hot but I can hopefully drop the voltage down a bit.
Well CGMiner reports 1.2M but the website reports 1400-1600KHs, which is correct?

Which payout scheme is recommended?
I am currently on DGM with the 2+2% fee. What exactly does extra 2% donation for VIP Membership give me?
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Consolidated Litecoin Mining Guide for 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx GPUs on: March 26, 2013, 08:47:27 PM
it is better to use 2 different instances only if you have 2 different graphic cards models for example 6970 and 7970 , if not , just use one otherwise who uses Reaper today... Reaper will die soon anyways , because it doesn't support stratum .

Just starting out and I quickly found some good info on setting up Reaper through the mining pool's help webpage.

I'll get started on setting up CGminer, thanks mmitech.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Consolidated Litecoin Mining Guide for 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx GPUs on: March 26, 2013, 08:26:43 PM
Thanks mmitech for the config. I just purchased 2 x Sapphire 7970 Dual-X cards.
I see you undervolted and overclocked, I hope those settings work for me as well. Biggest mining hurdle for me will be electricity at 26c kWH.

Before I try mmitech's config though:
I have a question about Reaper and using two cards: should I use two instances of Reaper, one for each card?
I read somewhere else that running two separate instances of Reaper was better when there were two GPUs in the same computer.

With the below config I am getting around 700KH/s for both cards as reported by the mining pool (Burnsides).
host ltc.kattare.com

pass x

protocol litecoin

worksize 256

Happy to make my first post... Anyone think Bitcoin will break $100 by summer?

How long until they announce the BTC exchange rate on the evening news?
That would be cool Smiley
34  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: March 24, 2013, 10:28:24 PM
paying 7.5 cents a kWH

And that is where I am done in...around 26 cents per kWH here and more rises expected. In all calculations with GPUs half the profit goes to pay the bill with either BTC or LTC.

That is at present prices though, if the coins keep going up (and down) and up in value the equation works out better.

Cheers for the info.
35  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: March 24, 2013, 10:00:09 PM
I don't know exactly, but I would guess somewhere around 450.  That sounds great, but I have sold most of them already and for much less than I could now!  I only have 25 coins left. Tongue

I started with the card I already had in my computer and it was getting about a coin a day on 170 MH/s.  Now I am running 1700 MH/s and getting only .12 per day.  For the first year or so I was reinvesting the money in new hardware until I had 2000 MH/s.  Then I started to cash out and am now up a couple grand.  I haven't really kept track of the exact figures.  I have not purchased any new hardware in over a year and am very impressed at the reliability of the video cards.  I have one 6950 and 6 6770s and a 5750.  The only card I had fail was a 5830 which is bad, because that card was a real money maker.

Thanks Blockhead, how much longer do you think you can mine Bitcoins before it is unprofitable with GPUs?
Not sure if I should start on some BTC before switching to LTC.

Did some LTC mining tests over the weekend on Nvidia cards but have AMDs on the way. Electricity is pretty expensive in Australia, I will make a small amount of money on LTC so it is mostly for the giggles (and hopes LTC does 1/10th as good as BTC).

Hello all-- I have been bit-mining for 22 months and have spent much time on this site, but have never registered because of the nuisance.  Also a  Angry for whomever got the username "Bitter" before I could.

What finally got me to register is to warn people about giving too much control of the network to Avalon.

out of interest can you give a rough number of how many coins you accumulated in that time?
Just so I can beat my self up about it...I heard about BTC back then but never pursued it, as a computer gaming nerd I have had the perfect system for it for a long time.
37  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: March 24, 2013, 09:07:29 PM
Hey all,

obligatory post Wink

I believe I need 5 more before posting in the other forums?
I have some mining questions to shoot off once that is done.

I bought into BTC at $30 and very happy I did so.
After more reading I have decided to turn my gaming rig in to a LiteCoin miner. Just in the process of selling off GTX 670's and purchasing AMD 7970's. I know Litecoin will never be as big as Bitcoin but there there is often a need for alternate currencies.

So I am late to the game but happy to be here anyway Smiley

Cheers!
