21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] [ICO] [WGR] | Wagerr | The Betting Blockchain | Bounties on: May 27, 2017, 06:31:07 AM
Edgemaster - how are the odds set? I believe I read somewhere that it will be using the same services as traditional bookies to get odds/results/etc.

The Users who bet with Head to Head and Multi user get to set their own lines, (but have suggested lines to help people set them)

For direct on Chain the Lines are being pulled from various sport betting API's, Vegas bookmakers, espn, yahoo, and other places where the oracles pull data from.

"For example, if price falls dramatically, significantly more outstanding supply is destroyed with every bet, because bets now require more WGR. Conversely, if price rises dramatically, significantly less supply is destroyed. Over time, this leads to less price volatility and an asset value that more accurately reflects both adoption and usage."

So if supply increases due to chain betting resulting in price falls then what if I bought Wagerr coin before the supply increased? Then I lost money without even betting. Or if supply decreases due to chain betting resulting in price rise then what if I bought Wagerr coin before the supply decreased. Then I lose money without even betting? No application ecosystem either?!? How much work has actually been done? or is this all hypothetical and will be created months after funding? @Developer.

Also just to explain why there is not going to be an application ecosystem.

Wagerr is built and designed to process thousands of bets at a time in a very short window.  If we added bloat and allowed other contracts to need to be queued on the chain it would eventually cause a degraded user experience due to the potential delays in a back log of transactions or unresolved contracts or postings.  By cutting that out and using set terms and Rigid contracts (ASSC) we are able to scale to a much larger degree and ensure that the UX does not suffer.

I joined this project in October of last year, We have significant portions of the betting engine and ASSC contracts completed, as well as the posting mechanisms for how the Oracles collect and post data to resolve winners/events.

(quick Shout out Smartcontract people at smartcontract.com, their work on API tie-ins made our lives a lot easier.)

As for what is being released, we are on track for releasing the fully downloadable wallet demo on the 15th of June, (during the ICO).

Also @highaltitude20322 you are indeed correct, on a Direct on Chain bet of 100 the amount burned is 96.88 if they lose, and the amount payed out(minted) if they win is 94.

So how would I sell the bitcoin once i actually buy into the Wagerr ? I am considering investing a lot of money into this as I am a sportsbettor, but that part has not been made clear on the website, the roadmap or this thread. How will I exchange coins into btc or usd after the ICO ends ? Will you trade on some famous exchange or only through your website ?

Dr Charles is right we are using shapeshift for purchasing, and we have been approved by Bittrex and will indeed be listed there following the token issuance.

Has Trex confirmed this anywhere?  I mean its interesting for sure, its just if they're going to list you why not host the ico for you I guess.

Also I see the .05c is this calculated through shapeshift or if we choose to direct deposit btc for instance will it use current market price.

I see i worded this wrong, We are going to pay the listing fee to trex and have spoken with bill, and are awaiting approval by the bittrex team, sorry for the miscommunication.

2 % fee seems a bit high for H2H betting.

Letīs say I make a bet and win 200 WGR when I staked 100 WGR.
Now I am already losing 4 WGR due to the rules of the WGR network.

In my opinion this canīt compete with low fee bookmakers or exchanges
based on Bitcoin.

So unless I'm reading this wrong, the fee on head to head is 2% of the winnings. (aka the vig/juice)  So you bet 100 and win 198.  If you take a look at cloudbets available bets for tonights NBA basketball game, neither of the offerings will pay 98 on a 100 bet. Depending on who you bet on its either win 95, or win 91.

So i guess i just have to not agree with what you are saying

This is spot on, ALL of the fees for the Wagerr network are the percentages against the winnings.  So its technically 1%,2%,3% against the total that was bet between the two parties.

Moreover traditional sportbooks can take up to a 10 percent vig. In Vegas it is common to see a bet 100 to win 190 often.  This is how sportsbooks make money so if you can find an offer that beats 1% against the total wagered id be more than happy to agree with you.  Only issue is ive never seen that anywhere, unless you aren't using a sportsbook and betting with no middle man.

I'm not experienced in sports betting but for one person to bet there must be another person betting on the other team right? Like if I wanted to Wagerr on a match team there must be someone wagering on the opposite team?

Three types of betting are offered by the wagerr network, 2 of which require direct peers to facilitate the bet.  But the third type of bet is one were the user bets against the chain and the chain acts as the "sportsbook" and takes the other side of the bet.

In this case if the user wins, the coins that they win are minted by the chain, if the user loses, the coins that are bet are destroyed.

So if I bet 1m coins against the chain and win a 2x, 1m more coins will be introduced to the supply?

If You bet 1 million coins and win against the chain, the payout would be as follows, 940k coins would be minted and paid out to you and you would also receive your 1 million coins that you bet back as well. 30k coins would go to the Oracle/s that processed the bet.  28,800 would be destroyed, and 1,200 would go into the dev fund for future development.

Conversely, if (or more appropriately when) someone bets 1 million coins and loses 968,800 coins are destroyed, and 30k goes to the oracles and 1,200 goes to the dev fund.

What will be the total number of coins minted at the genesis block? As many ICO coins as are bought? Or is there a total that you will start with that is independent of the ICO?

The number minted are the number sold + bonus + marketing + dev allocations, up to 100 mil.

If 100 mil is the max at genesis then that would put the value at $5 million USD. This is a very good number for ICO investors. Especially when this coin is so promising. If Polo will ever fix my withdrawal I will invest in the ICO Smiley

Yes sir, we feel this is a fair and realistic goal, and due to its starting price highly likely to be bought up far above the initial sale price.

How much wagerr will be needed to run a masternode ?

Cheers  Grin

IF the ICO sells out, the maximum coins required to run a masternode is 25k WGR

When will WGX/WGR be on an exchange?

We are committed to ensuring WGR will be on a major exchange the day of issuance, which will be no later than 7 days after the completion of the ICO.

35  Other / Off-topic / Re: low cost socks on: December 18, 2016, 11:40:04 AM
After 20 years of buying socks I can tell you that you shouldn't buy low cost socks, unless they are good quality. i used to have like 50 pairs of socks and most of them made my feet sweaty and uncomfortable. Now I have like only 10 pairs of socks but they are all really good quality and my feet are happy and comfortable all year round!  Smiley

My advice, go to a discount shop like TK Maxx or Ross and buy the best socks they have for a cheap price. "Stance" make some really comfy, good quality socks, I also have some nice thick Adidas and Nike socks. The Nike basketball ones are real nice.

Well this is pretty random but I would wholeheartedly agree and suggest you visit TKMAXX or a similar outlet for good quality socks (Not forgetting Aldi / Lidl.)
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: New Bitcoin virus on: December 17, 2016, 11:28:18 AM
I, amongst the others here on this thread would like to know if this is actually a virus, of some sort. In the mean time you need to copy the wallet.dat (or export privkeys) and resync on a clean machine, move any btc from that / those addresses and then look to remedy actual problem on machine / wallet.

As drewxward quite rightly said, source an exact same working model drive (ebay / amazon) and change the PCB (the circuit board underneath) do this carefully using a small torx screwdriver..  Smiley
