21  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Building my first rig... on: April 13, 2013, 09:06:26 PM
GPU - Fine
CPU- Fine if rig is just for mining
Ram - 8GB, if just for mining is OTT.
Motherboard - You can add a 2nd card, but not for gaming.
PSU-Fine.

You can probably 650mh/s with an overclock, probably on stock volts. More if you up voltage. Overclocking is also a lottery.
600 kh/s or so depending on OC. Maybe more/ maybe less, depending on oc.

but will it hash?

Probably bitcoin very well, on the other hand, how it looks for litecoin with the 7970's, who knows till they are released.

Essentially 2 HD7970s on one PCB with lower stock clocks. 2 would be only a bit behind quad 7970s and use less electricity. Serious heat output though.

Yes, but they tend to be higher binned chips.  I will pick one of these up for personal use.  I have been trying to get the powercolor non reference version of this card but it has been out of stock each time I check.

It's luck of the draw really. Yeah the power cooler one looks really cool. Although I don't see a reason why you would pay 1000$ for a dual gpu card when you can get better performance and cheaper by maybe 200$ by picking up 2 hd7970s. Unless you are PCI-E limited.

I have this view because I mine AND game. Currently running 7970s x 2 and a HD7850.

buried somewhere deep in the bowels of this or the other gold thread i predicted this would happen to gold, ie, gov'ts and their central banks having to sell gold to raise cash:

http://bullmarketthinking.com/comex-gold-inventories-collapse-by-largest-amount-on-record/

Sell all your gold everyone, the big money wants it cheap.

Do you think it's coincidence that gold gets downgraded and negative press a weeks before Cyprus have to hand theirs over? EU laughing all the way to the bank.

It's not just unstable countries like Cyprus. Northern European countries are (and have been for the last decades) dumping their gold like crazy to keep the socialistic systems afloat a little longer. it's not like they need anything but empty-promises to back our paper anymore.

Who? Germans are repatriating gold, why do you think that is?. Gordon Browne sold UK's because the Germans came looking in the late 1990s, UK is screwed. Cyprus is being forced to hand over gold to ECB. Russia, China, India buying record amounts of gold.
Record levels of physical gold being withdrawn from vaults.

http://bullmarketthinking.com/comex-gold-inventories-collapse-by-largest-amount-on-record/

Arizona passes law gold/silver legal tender.

This is accelerating much faster than I ever imagined.

Certainly you must be referring to the plunge?

Yeah 5% is INSANE. This was always going to happen to loosen gold from weak hands I'm just shocked at the speed.

mtgox has sucked right from the very beginning (ugly screenshot here: https://i.imgur.com/vlKihqr.jpg)

it's incredible that people just keep on using it  Shocked

Fucking idiots!

A billion wiped is a success? What company in their right mind would accept such a currency?? Bitcoin from here is a ponzi scheme until prices go to where they should be, circa 15$ and stabilize.

you do know that btc is to be used for trade and not speculation..

store of value will come with supply and demand.

Work to secure the network is going to be needed even if BTC is worth $1 or $1000.

I'm new to it, my impressions are it is a casino. Only thing I can see you can buy which is worthwhile is gold/silver coins & other bitcoins or alt coins. LONG way to go. And if it can be manipulated so easily by dumping a small amount of coins how is it going to survive when the central banks come for it, which they will, if they have not already.

30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here) on: April 12, 2013, 11:43:46 AM
1750 mhash, 2 x 7970s, 1 7850.
31  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7850 or 7870? Is the extra cost worth it? on: April 12, 2013, 11:40:47 AM
I get about 360 mhash from my HD7850. Over 700 each with my 7970s. To put in perspective.

haha, I'm not American, forgive me.

The people behind the Patriot Act don't care about country of origin.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extraordinary_rendition

Really wish Ron Paul got voted in.  Angry

See congress took out privacy laws from CISPA.

If I was American I would be buying guns, ammo & tinned food with my bitcoins.

Two levels of paranoia, extreme and insufficient. You never know.

There's no such thing as "extreme paranoia" in the Age of the Patriot Act.

There's being careful and being less careful.

haha, I'm not American, forgive me.

Well I hope guys like Keiser and now the "Twins" can help create a few more very professional and reliable exchanges. Gox is definitely among the weakest link in Bitcoin's growth at the moment, as it always has been for the past few years.

I think this is the only rational thought in this whole thread.

I don't think anyone thought it was funny. BTW it is going to become law. Watch Ireland closely.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Characteristic of Bitcoin is most valueable to you? on: April 11, 2013, 10:37:36 PM
Currency to buy gold.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banker Manipulation of Bitcoin - Alex Jones is Cointel on: April 11, 2013, 10:36:15 PM
Back at the beginning of the 20th century, they used this technique as an excuse to call for an "elastic" currency controlled by central bankers.

Thank God someone else on this board knows some basic history. I was beginning to think I was the only one.

Bitcoin is most certainly in the crosshairs of the central banksters. They took Liberty Dollar down, hard, when it was only valued at $20 million but was the second most used currency in the US.

Yes all true, but lets face it, one exchange, it could be a kid in a basement never mind a professional job.

I totally agree though, BITCOIN is now on their shit list with all the coverage it has been getting.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Greed is killing Bitcoin. on: April 11, 2013, 10:30:14 PM
I'm pretty new to the bitcoin thing. If the price becomes stable at say 50$, just as an example, will the mining difficulty come down?
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10 Commandments of BitCoin on: April 11, 2013, 10:28:44 PM
Bitcoin giveth and Mt. Gox taketh away.

lol nice, I like this one.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banker Manipulation of Bitcoin - Alex Jones is Cointel on: April 11, 2013, 10:27:57 PM
I doubt the people who run the country would invent bitcoin just to shoot it down. Besides, its open source so people can just create a new one.

Besides, if that were the case, why the desperate attempts at bashing it by agents like Alex Jones??

Because Jones, in the minds of the everyman, represent the "alternate thinker".

The mainstream media is just the "normative thinker".

If both are against Bitcoin due to whatever reason, then there's no reason to believe in cryptocurrency.

That's how they do it: they corner both sides of thought, they control the mainstream thoughts, and they control the alternative thoughts.

Alex Jones was not bashing it. I can get on board with a lot of things he claims and I think he is OTT on a lot of other things. However I believe bitcoin is doing a good enough job at damaging itself without any outside influences.
For now.
