21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Rebrand - RX570 / RX580 - Official Thread on: May 21, 2017, 01:22:07 PM
Hello, I was going to buy 470s but I can't find any in stock.

Is it good idea to buy 570/580 instead? Is there still consistent problems with 6 cards at same time? I heard people were having hard time making it work but has it been fixed now? Would I risk spending a lot of time trying to make them all work or has it been easily fixed by now? Sorry for not reading whole thread.

Also, would 1200W PSU be enough for 6 470s?
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Few questions about setting up a rig (Buying cards, placement of rig, etc) on: May 13, 2017, 02:41:16 PM
Damn, I feel very stupid now, I read that post wrong about ball point bearings.

Alright thanks for clearing that up. I will be hunting for good in-stock cards now, if anyone has anything good from Amazon or Newegg (preferrably amazon) feel free to link me Grin

Very well thanks.

So I have done more searching and I've concluded that I found MSI Armor 470s, but google search showed me that its a ball bearing fan, how bad is it? Should I avoid this card even though its pretty much only "good" card I've found in stock? And anyone has experience with those cards?
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Few questions about setting up a rig (Buying cards, placement of rig, etc) on: May 11, 2017, 07:15:48 PM
Bumping this because I accidentally somehow locked the thread last time I posted, was on phone.  Cry

Anyone got any tips concerning my last post?
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Few questions about setting up a rig (Buying cards, placement of rig, etc) on: May 11, 2017, 10:14:42 AM
Alright. But I need just 6 for now. Looking for ones in stock at amazon. What are differences between 470 and 570? is 570 better? So I can decide clearer. I heard theres problem running 6 570s? is this true?
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Few questions about setting up a rig (Buying cards, placement of rig, etc) on: May 10, 2017, 08:24:10 PM
Thank you!

Well I have a new concern, I was about to decide on what exactly to buy in terms of GPU, but I realized most 470s are out of stock and all, and this made me think to get 570s instead? Are they better? Are they worth it? I tried looking at the separate thread for 570/580 But I could not get exact answers Undecided

I was thinking about ASUS ROG-STRIX-RX570 but then after little bit of googling I realised... its ball bearing right? which is bad as post above this one said?

Anyone has any recommendations for exact good models that have proper stock (amazon newegg etc)? Or any tips in general on finding ones in stock? or is it hard to get them right now?

Sorry for annoying questions.  Wink

Thank you very much zij.

I have one more question, about GPU models/manufacturers, whats generally difference between 4GB and 8GB? does it make difference in mining? is it worth extra money to get 8GB ones? Also, anyone has experience with XFX? is it good? (470) or is asus better? I've heard asus gets more hot, is this true?

Thanks again.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Few questions about setting up a rig (Buying cards, placement of rig, etc) on: May 09, 2017, 09:28:13 AM
Hello, so I am planning to set up a 6x GPU (I have RX 470 planned) rig. I am going to get more in future, so few questions have been bothering me.

1) Where do you all buy cards from? Amazon/Ebay? how big of stock do they have usually? Because often they are out of stock, what are the reliable alternatives? Used vs New? there's 20$-30$ difference or so, I guess buying new is better in my case? (Once again, RX 470)

2) Which ones are most reliable models/manufacturers for mining?

3) If I'd like to buy it in a bulk (maybe 50, maybe 100, maybe more) what can I do? Is it possible to contact manufacturers directly? or they don't do that?

Now, about actually placing the rig

4) Where do you all place rig on, the floor? is there any stands or server racks everyone uses? I am getting 1 rig first, is it just safe to leave it on some kind of metallic panel or even just bare floor?

5) I am getting proper desktop PSU from good brands (for example thermaltake, EVGA, etc) is it still risky like unbranded server PSUs to catch fire in any way? Of course all kinds of electronics can catch fire but how do I prevent any dangers? Is it still quite risky?

6) Where do I power my rig (well obviously I'll need specialized enviroment when I get many rigs) in regular office setting, I mean 1 rig for now, can 220v EU plugs take 1200W power supply without any specific equipment and tweaking? And isnt 1200W enough for 6 RX 470s?

7) Should I build some kind of custom frame that people build or should I just leave GPUs in the standard PC case? I am getting one of those 6 PCI MBs.

Thank you very much for reading, I may have few other questions later.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: is mining profitable atm ? on: April 24, 2017, 02:21:03 PM
Yeah I should had emphasized more about it, mining on laptop will kill it in most cases, sooner or later. just get a specialised mining rig, like a desktop with 1-3 GPUs (since you don't have huge budget, but if you do at least have enough for that and you are interested, it'd be fun) its much more easier to cool, for example you could take cover panel off and it will cool more efficiently - ugly but effective from what I've heard. Or you could just build it inside a metal frame or whatever like some more dedicated people do, its more effective than having closed case I think, and in case of laptop thats just worse.

Gotta ask about those metal frames around here soon, I am wondering how they build it or where they buy it  Huh

გამარჯობა. საფულედ რას იყენებთ? ემონის? რამე სხვა ალტერნატივა არ არის ბანკის ანგარიშზე ან ბარათზეც რო ადვილად გადარიცხო?
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: is mining profitable atm ? on: April 23, 2017, 07:44:59 PM
i think it is better for people, that live in a country with low cost for hardware and electricity ^^

True.

for 1000$ you can build mining rig for mining nicehash or anything else. assume that good motherboard/power supply setup will cost you 400-500$ on its own, and then look around for GPU prices, and for GPU, pick them by profitabiltiy, if you plan on using nicehash, go to that nicehash calulator you already used (https://www.nicehash.com/?p=calc)

and then calculate how much is it worth it for you, make sure to set the electricity costs to get accurate results.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: is mining profitable atm ? on: April 23, 2017, 06:23:45 PM
ok, thank you !

i have check my graphiccard here:

https://www.nicehash.com/?p=calc

with nice hash minner its only under 1$ per day....... i think that make no sense .....

but whats about mining LTC ?

https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/ltc?HashingPower=20&HashingUnit=MH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=140&CostPerkWh=0.12

how can i find out, how much hashingpower my graphiccard have ?

thank you very much !

Yeah 1050 is not the best card for mining, but its possible.

I am not very competent with LTC so I'd rather not reply. But my guess would be standard GPU mining in LTC is not profitable anymore.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: is mining profitable atm ? on: April 23, 2017, 04:48:44 PM
thank you !

i have try nicehashminer.....
it only can mine btc ?
and that is not really profitable.....

i think i pay around 0,25/kwh.....

the thing is, the laptop is ever running 24/7....(without mining, too)
but with a mining-program it uses more power, right ?

wich coin is the most profitable one atm ?

Nicehash mines different algorithms but pays you in BTC which is nice.

0.25/kwh is a lot. It'd be hard to get profit on that price. But I think its possible, not with laptop usually though.

Yeah when you mine it uses much more power depending on your laptop.

34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: April 23, 2017, 04:42:07 PM
Hey, is it worth buying used GPUs (470 in particular) or its better to get new ones?

To avoid bothering with overheating used cards or just in general having any problems with random ebay sellers?
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: April 22, 2017, 06:56:59 PM
Noob question - can you mine with GPUs on normal PCI (1.0?) slots?
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cheap PSU experience and question about connections more PSU on: April 20, 2017, 08:53:16 AM
Thanks for suggestions. I got answer from Tacens distributor and they do not suggest use 24/7 so better forget about such idea.

What are the best companies/models PSU for mining?

evga gold

What about:
Super Flower gold or platinum?
Corsair (what model?)
other...?

evga  850 g2  = 4 card rig
evga  1000 g2 = 5 card rig
evga  1300 g2 = 6 card rig

evga   750 p2 = 3 or 4 card rig
evga   850 p2 = 4 card rig
evga  1000 p2 = 5 card rig
evga  1200 p2 = 6 card rig

any of the above are good  key is 200 watts a card and don't push cards to max

Super flower gold and plats  are sometimes exactly an evga

I have had a good corsair  rmxi 1000  4 cards   and an axi 750  3 cards

www.jonnyguru.com

  long lists of good psu's

nice guy  he posts here once in a while.  I respect almost every one of his picks.  the fractal 1000 watt psu was not that good of a pick  every other one he made that I used was a good pick. (more then 20 psu's)

He also mines like we do.

Don't want to open new thread for this but, will 600W bronze run 2 GPUs well? (GTX 960 and R9 280X)

Since this is most active thread about baikal miners, I will post here.

Can you use mini at home? it says 45 DB on some market (not sure if its legit) and that shouldn't be loud at all, right? Anyone who has mini uses it at their house?

39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Memory Clock? on: December 31, 2016, 10:55:20 AM
So, this has been bothering me a little bit.

Does memory clock affect mining? and how?

I currently have R9 280X with 1500 mhz memory clock (haven't touched it myself), should I do anything with it? downclock maybe, unless that'd be bad for mining? (I am mining equihash algo at nicehash btw)

Would downclocking let temps down a little or no? Anyone actually does it? I did hear some people do it, not sure though.

Thanks.

And why don't you try it? Or just waiting, that someone will do that for you?
Screw this lazy world.

Because I do not want to mess up my card, I thought this was a common thing people do so I thought everyone would know what to do.
Screw this toxic world.

There are two clocks you should worry about. Core clock and memory clock. What you should do is increase memory clock as much as you can (before it becomes unstable) and decrease memory clock again as much as you can (until you notice performance drop). This will help with temperatures and will gain you extra performance.

You mean increase core clock and decrease memory until its stable? Alright I will try that, thank you Smiley
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alt-coin mining newbie on: December 30, 2016, 05:58:13 PM
I don't think that electricity will be a problem. Well I don't know, honestly, I remember trying to mine dogecoin a few years ago and that was just when a friend set up a miner and a wallet on my pc. Are there any that could actually be mined with a lower CPU? I have Dual core 3.6GHz

Yeah I had similar CPU and it made way less than actual electricity bill, so yeah its not worth it, get some good GPU.
