21  Bitcoin / Electrum / increase fee for unconfirmed transaction on: June 01, 2021, 02:39:42 PM
Hello

After how many hours a transaction was made without receiving a confirmation, it's recommended to intervent?

2.
Is it possible to define a new output with a higher transaction fee (in Electrum on Tails)?

Thanks!

22  Bitcoin / Electrum / Offline seed and wallet-backup on: April 07, 2021, 02:43:45 PM
Hello Forum

- once a Seed is offline created, can I go online with it (using Electrum on Tails)
or would that defeat the purpose of offline seed creation?

- do you overwrite your Electrum-wallet backups on the removable offline storage media
  or shoud different backup-version be stored (e.g.:  wallet-bu_2021-04-01, wallet-bu_2021-04-06)?

Thanks!

23  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum Wallet Backup on: April 06, 2021, 02:56:17 PM
Hello Forum

- does the wallet-backup of Electrum contain the seed too?

- does Electrum use strong encryption for it's wallet backups?

Thanks!

24  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / lost HW wallet = lost bitcoin-funds? on: March 31, 2021, 03:25:33 PM
Hello forum

As I understand a hardware wallet does "only" store private keys...

But what happend if I am going to loose such a hardware wallet: Can the Bitcoin funds be
restored with the 12 word seed?

Thanks!

25  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum on Tails Linux Live without persistence on: March 24, 2021, 03:49:42 PM
Thank's a lot for the interesting answers!

1.
Ok.. as I understand, I can use my original-seed (created during the installation of my former wallet-app)
in order to be able to restore the fund's into Electrum on Tails (without persistence).

2.
Does that mean, all my bitcoin-funds are save(and restorable with the former/inital seed) even the
ongoing transaction is interrupted, e.g. because Tails/Electrum crashes (e.g because of a power outage)?

3.
Are "Transaction-labels" a list of the performed transactions?

Thank you very much for any addtional help!

26  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / BitBox02 Hardware Wallet on: March 23, 2021, 04:05:55 PM
Hello forum,

To me as a beginner, the BitBox2 hardware wallet seems to be the most advanced.
But there are very few BitBox2-HowTo's and other guides. In addition the
support-staff doesent seem to be very talented.. But probably I am the problem:-)

Should I buy a BitBox2 or look for (probably cheaper) alternatives?

Thank's for your help

27  Economy / Service Discussion / a Blockexplorer with the possibility to define a date as well on: March 19, 2021, 03:49:19 PM
Hello Forum,

Is there any "Blockexplorer" with the possibility to define a date as well, e.g. 2020-12-31 (for the case I should know the value of my Bitcoin-funds at the end of year 2020) ?

Thank you!

28  Economy / Service Discussion / what does "There are 2 blockchains with result(s)" to your search" mean ? on: March 19, 2021, 03:26:20 PM
Hello forum:

Some years ago I bought a Bitcoin paper-wallet at a Bitcoin ATM, for about 100USD.

Checking the public-key at it today at Blockchain.com/explorer does return the following infos:

There are 2 blockchains with result(s) to your search 1GBfakefakfakefakefakefakefakefake:
BTC Address
BCH Address

BTC Address:
Address:    1GBfakefakfakefakefakefakefakefake
FormatBase58:   (P2PKH)
Transactions:   1
Total Received$:5,553.50
Total Sent:   $0.00
Final Balance:   $5,553.50

BCH Address:    qznxfakefakfakefakefakefakefakefake
FormatBase58:   Unknown(UNKNOWN)
Transactions:   1
Total Received: $50.71
Total Sent:   $0.00
Final Balance:   $50:71

Questions:
- What does the BCH-transaction of $50:71 mean?

- is it recomended to post a public key in this forum?

Thank you very much for your feedback!

29  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum on Tails Linux Live without persistence on: March 19, 2021, 03:05:50 PM
Hello forum

I intend to start with 1 BTC-transaction per month. Instead of installing Electrum on my
rooted mobile, I am going to use the built-in Electrum of Tails Smiley

Upon starting Electrum in Tails, the following message is shown:

"Persistence is disabled for Electrum
When you reboot Tails, all of Electrum's data will be lost, including your Bitcoin wallet.
It is strongly recommended to only run Electrum when it's persistence feature is activated."

Why this warnings? Because of e.g. possible power-outings of a Linux Live system?
Is it not enough to write down the 12 seed words?

Thank's for your help!

30  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum on a Linux Live system on: March 17, 2021, 03:26:43 PM
Hello forum,

I am wondering if for a once-in-a-month Bitcoin user it would make sense to install and use Elecrum on a Linux Live system….
(to me this seems more secure than to use a Bitcoin wallet-software on my rooted (but well maintained :-) mobile)

2.
Does it make a difference in such a scenario, if my private keys are stored in the wallet-app or in hardware wallet?

Thank's in Advance for every feedback!

31  Bitcoin / Wallet software / offline seed creation on: March 17, 2021, 03:18:05 PM
Hello forum

What is the most important reason people do generate their seeds offline (to my knowledge, this is possible with the Electrum-wallet)?

Thanks,

Joe
32  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: direct-connecting to my fullnode vs using TOR on: March 12, 2021, 02:32:03 PM
Thank you very much for the good answers!

I am really a beginner and tried a few wallets (Mycellium, BRD) but need something different. Maybe can give me an advice and if possible you can share your
must-have wallet-features as well Smiley

Ok, the following features seems important to me:

- offline Seed-creation!

- have the wallet connected to a dedicated fullnode (don't know yet if  using VPN, Tor or proxy)

- adress-book (in order to know to whom I sent my Bitcoin)

- easy sharing the QR-Code of Bitcoin-addresses. Make a new-email and add the   attachment?
Not very comfortable.. I realldy don't know how profs are doing that..

- Wallet should inform the user upon the availabilitiy of new versions,  e.g. by push-message
(without silently installing new version w/o notifiying  the user)

- available for Android

- if possible open source and available on FDroid

- Hardware-wallet suport
33  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / direct-connecting to my fullnode vs using TOR on: March 10, 2021, 03:39:41 PM
Hello forum

After studying the paper from Pustogarov "Bitcoin over TOR isn't a good idea" I am wondering
if direct connecting to my own fullnode would be a better alternative in therms of anonymity
than making Bitcoin-transactions over Tor?

Thank's for every feedback!

Joe

PS
Does it makes a difference if I have connected my wallet-app to my own fullnode or if the wallet
selects the fullnode randomly?
34  Bitcoin / Wallet software / determine actual value of a paper-wallet (bought at a Bitcoin-ATM) on: March 09, 2021, 02:38:43 PM
Hello forum

Some years ago I bought some Bitcoin-funds (paper-wallets from a Bitcoin-ATM).

Question:
Is it possible to determine the actual value of a this paper-wallets WITHOUT swiping the paper-wallet into a wallet-app? How?

Thank's for every feedback!

35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Restore funds to BRD with 12 word phrase on: December 10, 2020, 12:52:26 PM
Hello Forum

i was wondering how the process of restoring funds with the 12 word phrase does work
on a newly installed BRD-wallet (on the same Android device)….

I made the following steps:

- "Wipe wallet from this device" (this is a built-in BRD-feature)

- because this command did not remove the wallet-software from my device, i entered the
following command (on a USB connected Linux-PC):
  # sudo adb uninstall "package name"

- reinstall a new version of BRD to the same mobile phone

According to some HowTos I should now be asket to enter the recovery key/phrase, but
the BRD-wallet does immediately want to give me his new 12word seed......

Questions:

1.
Does that mean the the old 12word phrases are not anymore valid for this new wallet
and can only be used for restoring the funds?

2.
Where can the feature "Enter Recovery Key" be found? Or is it renamed?

Thank's a lot for any help!

36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / security of a hardware wallet vs removing the sw-wallet app? on: December 09, 2020, 12:42:11 PM
Hello forum

I am wondering if and why a hardware wallet should be more secure compared to removing the wallet
app(and erasing it's private key) from the mobile AND remembering the 12 word seed......

Thank's a lot for any feedback!

37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / two different wallets (same funds) on: November 25, 2020, 12:44:50 PM
Hello forum

I am wondering if it is possible to "import my funds" in a second wallet (with the 12 word seed) and make transactions with both wallets
as long only one wallet is started and used at the same time...

Possible? Advisable?

Thank's for any feedback!

38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Multisig wallet: how to advice the 2 "confirmator"? on: November 24, 2020, 01:03:32 PM
Hello

I heard about multisig wallet (an app, not paper wallet) and I am wondering how this does work in practise especially
if lets say 2 of the 3 persons are georaphically not at the same place...

Questions:
1.
Do such multisig wallets include a feature in order to be able to advice the 2 required "confirmator" to sign a certain transaction?

2.
What wallets do actually support multisig transactions?

Thank's a lot for any clarification and help!
