should have more miners moved by tomorrow - asking for patience for now....

You will need to upgrade to the new wallet to send coins to exchange. Your private keys are still good if you just do nothing for now. As always, if you are keeping your own wallet make sure you backup wallet.dat with your keys.

Chain is slow due to miners waiting to switch over to new version. Working with miners over the weekend. Will have hashing on new chain up in next day or so.

We don't have access to the original repository

It seems the one I have been using for years is https://github.com/domob1812/ixcoin.git

I did a git pull on it and did see something about a mining fund go by in the text it spat out.

-MarkM-

Domob wrote the v0.14 update which includes a donatable mining pool and  increaee in block size Currently pool has premine which has been repopulated by donations from community. Payout will be one ixc per block. You should be all set with either 14.0 client but core version has more builds in release and will have a version with Bitcoin 0.16 features shortly

Coinomi is also on new version so if you are using that mobile wallet then fork will be transparent, non-issue

Coinexchange and Cryptopia updated to the new wallet. Yobit has not but it has kept the wallet in maintenance. You will need the new wallet to get your IXC off an exchange.

So it seems there’s no way to move ixcoins to exchanges.  Bad but it could create a temporary shortage which could lead to a MASSIVE trillion dollar pump.  If only I had my BTC!

Sorry I was not clear - AFTER the fork - you will need the new version to move on/off exchanges - right now no issue with any wallet version. Still under 449000 blocks - fork happens at 450000 later this week. Earlier estimate of 5/3 was incorrect due to increasing hashing power applied to network.

Choo-choo, 2 da Moon and back ... no, not really. I don't have to say anything on the matter of who scammed who, if, when, why and such stuff but I have to say a bit on Moonshot. It is not going to happen anytime soon mainly because liquidity sux balls. And some people holding way too much coins or those coins possibly being lost. If someone is just sitting on a big pile of coins or not is not easy to say but how about introducing a big time killa badass feature in the next IXC version that goes like this:

1. Lock all addresses that had no outgoing transactions for let's say 2 years.
2. Starting with block X make it so that Y IXC ends up taken from all such addresses, per block, and given to development fund, miners or both.

X and Y are subject to debate.

Such feature would ensure, if nothing else, that all IXC lost somehow are gradually back into circulation.

Do not be a chicken and avoid messing with blockchain. ETH said fuck off to thief, rewritten blockchain and it is doing just great, just check it.

And yes, put more coins up for sale, improve liquidity.

Agree with the liquidity problem - but not your presumption of the cause. There are a couple of necessary but not sufficient characteristics. 1) Distribution - definitely an issue here but there are some options after the hard fork - see my posts above. Lots of people with different needs and goals will increase the need to trade and liquidity 2) Real use cases - Need to have a reason to go in and out of the coin via exchange and speculation alone is not a long term solution. 3) A reason - crypto gold, touring completeness, you get the idea....

ETH got a lot of buzz by being more programmable, pretty widely distributed, and had a killer use case in EC20 tokens to raise funds easily - the added bonus is all EC20 token have to go through ETH and push up demand for ETH - I would argue that is the primary use case and main driver for ETH price. The hard fork to recover funds is NOT a plus - any two bit regulator can come along and compel a hard fork or at least try since there is precedence.

I had asked a while ago if Devcoin is still merged mined - the reply I got indicated an effort to move to Steemit's "proof of human effort" - is it possible to merge mine SHA256 with current client or not?

not holding out a lot of hope for coinscontrol - based in India and they just had a crackdown. Also think the dev(s?) may be in over his head

now consistently more v0.14 clients than older versions

How about focus on mobile wallet such as coinnomi which is on the new version. Anyone who downloads a coinomi wallet gets some IXC. Say a sliding scale. First 10000 downloads get 10 next 10000 get one and so forth. Less than 200k coins would be enough for every smartphone on Earth.  Looking for great ideas. Distribution is a major challenge in cryptoland and we have a potential winner here!

With the larger blocks after the fork we can distribute a massive number of small wallets. Millions per day. Billion over the course of a month. Most coins cannot do that and still be decentralized.

Miners still not cooperating.  Odds of a chain split, in a few days, is high.  Things could become very unpredictable.

Definitely interesting - hard forks indicate active development

The thirst for profit out of envy of bitcoin pioneers, nothing more. Why don't society have a bunch of identical systems? Bitcoin therefore stood out, which differed from the existing and closed some of their disadvantages for end users.

ok - I'll bite.

IXC was started in May 2011 - third crypto. Early days, well before bitcoin was successful and well before almost anyone thought it would be successful.

IXC tried out a couple of concepts - 1) a small number of coins were set aside for bounties - less than 3% -  and 2) the block rewards were larger but the total number of coins the same - to test out what happens when a coin must rely on fees and not miner rewards. For good measure merge mining was added.

Neither worked out very well - newer coins had premines of 10%, 20%, 80% (looking at you Ripple) which gave any coin with a premine - even a miniscule one -  a bad name. Also we confirmed fees on 1MB blocks are woefully inadequate - this may have driven some of the urgency (panic) to increase bitcoin block size.

Now here we are - the premine has been donated back and sequestered - a fork at 450K blocks will give IXC a larger block size 64MB - 2X what Satoshi had set bitcoin to originally - pretty reasonable since 2018 computers are more than order of magnitude faster than 2009 computers. Enough to provide a significant block reward with small fees. Also just enough with current optimization techniques to match average visa transaction volume.

Will this be the right update for The Original Bitcoin Sidechain?

almost no volume on Coinscontrol - are they just testing? Does anyone know their status?
