21  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Banx.io Acquires Atomic-Trade.com on: February 26, 2015, 05:37:15 PM
 Huh

yet another virtual bitch slap across my face...yet another thing changes...with little or no prior notice? very happy it was done quickly and everything i have is still here. includeing the account itself. can't tell you how many "exchanges" just took off with my coin and personal info....only to restart under some merger, and act as tho they don't know you...or owe you what was yours.

I'm glad your holding on to what is yours, and adding to banx, this is reassuring, you did not cut and run like many others have. But this still comes as quite a surprise. And stokes fears of repeating others mistakes.

Fortunately you know the people your working with personally, and this doesn't seem to be a big company simply buying up a smaller one. From how you present the info, it is a mutual agreement and not a full sale of all assets to someone/something i don't know.

maybe we will get more cross markets now? instead of being stuck with coins we can't trade for the coins we choose to?   Tongue

Initially this appears to be a good step forward!

Cry but i imagine there will be many more change-s

23  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP! My gridseed Miner won't mine bitcoins on: February 23, 2015, 04:04:40 PM
yea i have the same issue...cgminer is set to sha, and the only instance open,   loads the device, loads the pool..then tells me the pool is wrong....cgminer also crashes.

i have not installed the zadig drivers as they should not be needed in linux. linux will assign the port correctly, but windows has imposed limitations.

I would much rather use bfgminer for both sha and scrypt. much faster with less cpu load. and i can load cpu+gpu+asic's in both sha and scrypt.

so far no luck with this gridseed, most miners i found are built with scrypt only.

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / vpncoin-setup-ubuntu-Please-Need help setting up vpncoin-qt in ubuntu 14 on: January 21, 2015, 06:02:52 AM
I don't like /trust windows. I'm not new to ubuntu but i'm not great at getting myself through some of the setup's of some software, often some software doesn't work outa the box having to build and configure in terminal using guides. As long as it works i'm super happy xD And i will devote time to troubleshooting if the software is what i need or want to use.

the author has said this is exclusively setup for windows, talking with him is great, but meaning is lost in many of the technical procedures and words. I don't think he knows it should be possible to run the full qt wallet in linux/ubuntu. their expertise and focus is windows. I want to try to compile and maintain an ubuntu version for everyone as best i can.

I think with the author(s?) tenacious support, development and promotion, and soon a larger community, this coin will be important and helpful to many, not just profitable.

wine will execute the files and begin loading, but it looks for the vpn settings and can't find them. searches for the ports, can't find them and crashes. this seems to suggest i simply need to make/find the config file and place it where wine can see it?

I'm currently going through guides to setup qemu. But wine may be the easiest first route for all. just to get a vm of windows so things get going while we/i work on compiling an ubuntu version. I'm thinking this may help me understand what needs to be done as well as contributing and earning something.

A google a few days ago dug up a post saying "build any coin wallets for any os, for ubuntu"  despite searching for this i am having issues finding that guide again.

https://github.com/Bit-Net/VpnCoin/blob/master/contrib/gitian-descriptors/deps-win32.yml - ? a wine setup and config?

People have taken the time to do this for previous versions. I'm wondering if i can honor those efforts and apply such things to the newer versions.

i'm not employed, when i was i often supported our family's food and other things...my dad was suppose to retire. But has resumed working after my job loss. 67 years old,  No one else has a job but him now. i need to do more to help them. Corporate america will not do this. Or give long term employment.

cryptocurrency is something i believe in and wish to devote time to. More then just earning it.

It's time to let more people to know this coin.
long time to let more people to know this coin before.
but not for now with so low btc price.

vpncoin has the potential to be more valuable then btc ever was....I am stil unsure as to what caused this price drop....other ten speculation, and manipulation of btc markets and resulting panic...like cex turning off cloud mining under 25ghs..only hurts all coins particularly btc....i don't see any sense in such actions...if your a multicoin pool and exchange...to keep on topic...the btc price should not slow the promotion of this, vpncoin..we should not let it

Angry ???PLEASE can someone refer me to a guide to build 1124 for ubuntu 14? Huh Angry

For now i just need to earn vpncoin on a system with enough hd space. my windows pc's have no space and i've lost coin and had system failures due to this. Cry there is now 2.6gb i am unable to recover or use, ever. its just gone. i've never had this happen in linux.

ive spent days googleing and searching the hundreds - millions of threads here, its hard to find threads. sometimes google blocks it.

i know of threads that had guides and step by step. I just can't get back to them after i had found them. way too many off threads. it's easy to get lost and waste time reading all the thank yous and suggestions and chatter and interesting stuff people put here.... instead of a specific, clearly titled, organized and relevent thread. Most time has been wasted going to threads of the same title as the dev's original post.  Undecided

vpncoind, is not the full wallet? with all the stuff that earns money? and is useful? not sure how to use it. I do desire the full familiar gui.

Have you tried a low level format for your HD ?
I have fixed often bad sectors like that.

vpncoind lacks the earning faculties.
you need the full qt . only available on windows i believe.

Yes, IRC reward only for windows version.
sorry.

thank you i wll try a format that is low level once i can back things up, i will also try to learn how to use qemu or any available fully virtualized 64bit native emulation.

DEV Its like people keep pointing out the tutorial is mainly for new comers and people from countries where censorship applies ie China. When will the vpn service start to get used in China? as for me this was the main selling point  Wink the op should only carry tutorials, links to wallets and a road map of where vpn coin is heading like a Chinese roll out or maybe a HTML5 wallet as they seem to be all the rage and what exchanges are available

you are doing a great job and speak better English than I do Chinese  Wink

is there anything that us from open internet countries can do to make the vpn service any better maybe help with speed!

+1000

cheers @ mig-23

DEV just a thought I dont know if this is an go,er (workable) idea or whether it would just make more work but I was just thinking would it be possible to make 2 wallets one for vpn providers and another for users? then you would have a clearer insight into your market ie whether or you need to increase vpn users or providers. I dont know any coding or anything so I dont know if it is a viable option or not! just a thought

i think no need to do like that,..
the most important is provide the tutorial for newbie or new comer,..
for the people who familiar with crypto or not,..
and i think VPNcoin is not only for people who interested with cryptocurrency

@bitbollox @mig-23

Thanks for you support.
In recent days I'll do a tutorial website.

a tutorial website is a great idea. one place to edit an one place that will always be there for new people.  I did not see your first tutorial, just under your first post, because i was looking for the most recent version first...this took me on a 3 ay reading spree in several other threads...when all the answers were in the main thread or the official...but now its hard to even get back to those. How in the world to you keep on top of this like you do, is beyond me.

most users i think would also be providers...we want to earn the most coin. but for those with limited pc's...or feel so...i guess having such a wallet would be nice.  I wonder if you could run such thing from the vpncoinnetwork itself, like websites...but applications and os's. xD vpncoin-cloud  Tongue  should be a really secure really fast online wallet. users could then also choose to sell additional network hw, bandwidth,ram/ramdisks or storage for more vpncoin payments.

but yes, one step at a time you do good things.

not acting as they say, takeing money and not paying as they say...ponzi...scam, then ask us to pay to talk to them...if no one gets reply or payments-russians first...then its a scam and we should monitor their activity and alert comunity to future actions by them...i bet the russian federation set this up to try and discredit cryptocurrency, they did ban it...but that ban is useless if people know its legit and continue using cryptocurrency...

my 1122-2 qt crashed the pc...i had over 300vpncoin...

ran chkdisk...

peer.dat malformd or currupted attempting recovery...deleteing peer.dat..  0.o

when i get back into windows... it makes a new wallet. and acts as tho it is the very first run of the pc. doesn't ask which os, or which profile, just starts makeing a new one.

again i use a program to check for disk errors. and reboot.

everything but vpncoin-qt seems to be back to normal.

a directory that was over 940mb...is now 180. yet the wallet file it has is 96kb vs the 88kb file i saved previously...but it is still not my old address...man i hope updateing will fix this.

I have no idea how to recover my coin =c

yea those were all false neg ratings...i still have not gotten that btc loan, and learned that others don't want others getting loans on this forum...simply not a good place to trade anything at all, i know now. In the future i will offer loans. but i'm focusing on geting to that point.d iversifying will help.
and so far the vpncoin community is much more helpful then the btc crowd.

when i get an online vpncoin wallet, i'll give it to you, i have no idea what caused a crash to specifically wipe my vpncoin. so it would be foolish to put the coin on my pc.

I feel sorry for your lost  ... please PM me with your address and i will give u 500 VPN coins tomorow when im at home .

not sure what burning a cryptocoin means, but i hope it is a way of setting aside something. destroying any coin, can't possibly make it anything but worthless. which this coin should not be.

please continue to giveaway to people who run nodes and hang out in chats. I should be able to do so more often now.

stakes? work well i guess, tho everyone has their own rules...it's sopposed to be applying interest to your balance, like savings...or payouts on dividends for the time the qt has been running consistently.

stakes good.

rewards for nodes and chat good.

solo mining good

pool mining good.

exchanges tradeing good.

active support from more then one person in developement. good.

if this continues, and also improves. this coin will thrive. and stand on it's own. as long as we can work out any issues quickly. And keep it live.

3.compiling

i'll have to try this some time soon

it is always nice to get prompt and informative replies. thank you.

I assume the github repositories would be the most up to date downloadable client. but i was wrong.

the last link shared here was for 1120. and 1120-4 1122 and 1122-2

What version are we sopposed to have? this would also explain error 10013. which means it can not connecting to the main servers or nodes usually. in most software like this.

It is most helpful to be able to easily access the updated files. Without browseing through hundreds of forum threads.

There is an offical website, but it seems out of date with some things not loading properly. despite this it looks good.

there is an offical or dedicated forum as well. with no updated downloads.

I agree that many people will find this useful. this is why i wish to start mineing and provideing node services etc. asap.

I get the feeling many people are getting the old vpncoin clients. not finding relevent answers, then giving up. =c

As soon as i can find a guide to compile this for linux. I'll try to continue to do so. And provide free links etc.

When i get my first vpncoin block, i might place bounties on tasks i feel i may not be able to get to timely.

omg...just downloaded 1122-2 to my old p4 xp 3 home. After a few firewall alerts. port 913 and 920 are now allowed. and it loaded. with no errors. why the heck did wine have issues in ubuntu 14.4 ? maybe i should ask the wine guys what it going on there.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitNet-vpncoin DARKNET|AES|Domain&Website System|VPN|Voice&video call on: December 10, 2014, 06:10:45 PM
this coin needs better setup and preequsite documentation and a precompiled linux version. using windows was a mistake.

get errpr 10013 when loading, it looks for a vpn server. but can't find it. the client hs one but it oesn't load. so i cant setit up

it then ays it can't listen on any ports. i tried to put -listen=0 but did not work.

i'm running it in wine. there is no documentation for compileing for linux.

the english guide shoul use an english client.

windows xp and up has remote services. previous versions it simply needs to be installed. its on the disk. Or you can download other software. but windows is too limited even server versions. enterprise or ultimate versions should be used.
39  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Bitminter client (Windows/Linux/Mac) on: October 17, 2014, 12:06:52 AM
Hi !
Please tell me if is any method to mint with this processor:
AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight - Core Processor - 4.0 GHz

In bitminter client at section devices not appear as valid for minting.

Is a hidden setting that must be done?

Thanks in advance !

i'm saddened that drharboro has jumped onto the no cpu bandwagon. cpu's and other hardware will likely not ever be "obsolete" Bitminter client version 1.3.2 can be used.

And i hope it will continue to be supported as i continue to make money using my cpu's. I made 7 btc my first year, all cpu's. Don't get discouraged by low hashrates. What you want is accepted work. that is all. regardless of what the hash rate is. You can still earn money. Hashrate is only part of the work your pc and the network do. Tweaking things to get your pc and network submitting shares to the pools faster was quite helpful. As does multiple connections to multiple pool servers. Like over at wemineltc. They have several back-up servers. If used all at once, give a more persistant flow of work. Even if some are interuppted.

i'm not sure which 1.3.2 or 1.4.3  also detects asics, and fpga When all are properly detected this software has had better results combined hashing then any other software i've tried so far. When i had bfgminer working combined cpu/asic it did very well and decreased rejections. Right now i'm struggleing to re-compile bfgminer for a new pc with cpu support =c

Take the time to pay attention to what is going on while mineing. In windows i use process hacker. in linux i have not found an adequate process manager.  This will lead you to any software tweaks that can be made to help. There is some rather expensive software that enables further enhancements of ram etc that helped a lot. supercache and cacheman. and another one i can't recall right now. These are marketed to servers and network admins. But i saw much improvement in hash speed and overall system speed. Gaming was also much improved. Last i checked they were free to try.

sadly others have also done the same, and their software lacks support not just for cpu. but many other useful hardware. I'm not sure why, but they don't like to support things it seems. And don't make any plans to. I'm guessing no one is helping them do this.

This leaves the people that would otherwise be making them (bitminter/general pools) money, fighting for information on how to build it better. So that it just simply works. Many just give up on cryptocoin all together. Adding this as a reason for it being a scam.

Please use cpu if you would like. keep in mind you can change the priority in windows. You must do so carefully, and give time between switching up. do not use real-time unless you have more then adequate cooling and hardware meant for 24hr high heat situations. Most pc's are not made for this. A realtime os is super helpful, and has not overburdened any of my hardware. Currently i am able to run the client on a single core cpu. The process priority is idle, and it still uses 90% cpu. minderd bfgminer and the bitminterclient have all the ability to be paused or suspended flawlessly so far as well, via the process manager. So if you need to stop it to change things or use your computer. You can. I do it this way so as not to drop the work i've already been worked on.

So far i've only had to replace a harddrive, that was over 5yrs old.

The amd cpu's also are unified. All cores share the work. In my experience these true 64 (native) cpu's with unified memory or cores. perform the best. core2duo and core2quads i have used as well, with similar results.

I've run 13 instances of minerd with 4 threads each. with one instance of 1.3.2 set as message digest. On a single core celeron. p4. 2.4ghz oc to 2.8ghz I needed to add a fan to the case. It will sometimes need to be re-started after a week or so. Not sure why it gets bogged down yet. likely how windows deals with the processing of info.

my core2duov2 5800 runs ubuntu12.04.4 and 14.04+, i've had better results with 12 so far, but 14 detects the gma4500 gfx cards. This should support opencl 1.0 and 1.1. I've installed the drivers. but i think the software support was removed when intel did the same. This is an aspire 6930, i've setup 4 fans around it. which is absolutely needed. The hardrive has almost no airspace. many will tell us not to mine on laptops and cellphones for such reasons. They are simply not designed to deal with the heat.
This setup has run more then 13 instances of minerd each with 30 threads. 1 instance of bitminter client 1.3.2 and 1.4.3 and 3 instances of 1.5.

runs 24/7 for over a month now.

I've made 1.3 btc in under a month includeing the other pools. And 2 usb asics @ 333mhs oc'd 1.4ghs

You can do  it, just keep the pc cool. don't let it run as hot as a hairdryer. This applies to all forms of intense data crunching and hashing. cpu,gpu and asics. it still applies. Keep temps below 90*c or 170*f If it runs hotter, when not under load. Research it's known ranges...consult the manufacture documentation as well. You can further tweak and mod to bring temps down. And keep performance. But this info is needed to do that.

  • Account details: "expected pay per block" has been removed. This was the source of most misunderstandings and caused trouble to no end. It invited you to try and understand the relation between work and pay in a very complicated way. You can of course still see how much you got for each block in your transaction history.

This was actually very useful for people who understood how things worked.  Can it be hidden somewhere else for those who do understand it to see - maybe on the transactions history page? https://bitminter.com/members/transactions
