For that reason many TOR node operators choose to only operate relay nodes. If the proposal here is to essentially turn every masternode into a potential TOR exit node (when its turn comes up in some deterministic algorithm), I think that could present new and challenging new legal risks for DRK's masternode operators AND the providers that host them, at least in many jurisdictions. If that's a serious concern, presumable Evan could set it up so masternodes can opt out of being an exit node (so just be a relay), and have a specific fee paid just to exit nodes. Then the market will sort it out. The less masternodes want to be exit nodes the more the remaining exit nodes will get, adding incentive to be an exit node. That's a very good idea actually. Essentially you would be getting paid to be watched and tagged by the government as node passing packets about ton of illegal crap? There is a good idea. But then if that person got hit, post mortem data would point everything back to it's original sender. Would it not also incentivize acronym agencies to own exit nodes? This is a good point. The smaller the pool of participants the easier it will be to gain a portion of that pool to potentially compromise DarkTor. One can assume that there will be a portion of Masternode operators who will not want to operate Tor nodes at all. Lets assume the rest will. There will be a portion within this group that doesn't want to operate exit nodes. So essentially a spy agency could purchase just enough to compromise the DarkTor network, specifically exit nodes, without having to even come close to the power necessary to compromise the Masternode network. This is a valid concern and something that needs to be considered. |

Tor and legality:
- if the provider (exit node owner) has no control over data send through his node and he is not snooping data in any way there is no responsibility for the data handled. This is exactly what Master Node Tor will look like.
Yes this is the law theory, yet still you have incidents like what happened in Australia where the cops essentially raided a guys home with a SWAT team because he was running a Tor exit relay. I'm struggling to find cases in the USA where people were arrested for operating Tor nodes. There must be at least one, maybe a test case? |

Further, we believe that running a Tor relay — including an exit relay that allows people to anonymously send and receive traffic — is legal under U.S. law. I'm waiting for the day that Kristov Atlas releases his code review, where he announces that DRK is the best anon solution out there. Then all these trolls will be silenced forever.
But he is kinda biased right? I'll listen to data. Not some schmuck who is invested in what he is auditing. The community organized DRK donations in order to thank him for his time. He wasn't paid for an opinion he has too much integrity. The goal is to get as close to 99.999% anonymity as possible, you will never have 100%. The recent drop is a due to a combination of things, mostly the fact that every coin got slaughtered in the latest crypto market drop, not just DRK.

Utilizing the Masternode network - DarkTor
One of the future goals is to turn the masternode network into a decentralized business for masternode operators. To do this we’ll add features that improve the privacy of end users and compete with centralized businesses. Our first endeavor into this is to make a completely private tor network within Darkcoin.
The Darkcoin network will begin to offer anonymous internet access via the masternode network. As a user, all you’ll have to do is pay a fee for 24 hours of access. This fee will be paid to a masternode in much the same way the masternode fees are paid, using a deterministic algorithm for determining which masternode will get paid.
There’s a few benefits to running a private tor network through Darkcoin.
Sybil resistant - Due to the cost of obtaining masternodes, it will be very difficult for any one person to view all traffic.
Anonymous Payments - Users can pay anonymously for the service
Private Network - Our tor network will be internal to darkcoin only. All traffic will be paid traffic, so the cost of running the service should be profitable for the masternode operators.
Faster than tor - Tor has historically been very slow. This will be a lean version, that has much higher throughput.
As for the cost of the service we’re thinking $0.50 per day or something to that effect.
We’re still working on the details how this will function and this isn’t a feature that we’re absolutely set on. We’re very interested to get the community’s response to see if it’s viable . I think I just shit my pants. |

everyone trying to sell high to buy back cheaper.....its a reverse pump  I think it's over. I've been seeing masternodes being bought as opposed to being sold. And my ears popped. why you bastards reverse course so fucking quick. I just paid to change my flights and holiday arrangements to get back early to get some fiat together. this ship is sinking.....sell all your drk....omg, its another cloak....its another vert....its another mazacoin.....noooooooooo.....don't buy anymore, sell, sell, sell. So it looks like the number of master nodes is dropping. I seem to remember 2 or 3 weeks ago there were like 870 or something?
That was the RC3 count. Also where are you guys getting 575 nodes from? I typed masternode count into my console and its telling me 660. |
