Personally I think the easiest and most secure option is to publish it here and/or via pastebin.

If somebody wants to build a tracker (website, app etc) on top of that data, that's great but not necessary.
Problem with any website is, that it can go down again or can be manipulated. Problem with pdf are certain security concerns, afaik pdf is a format that can enable malicious fishing or even hacking attempts - so some malicious actor could create a pdf with the same name and try to spread it.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixing is NOT money laundering, per se on: December 12, 2023, 07:03:12 AM
It also doesn't really solve any problem if they ban mixers. There are so many services that essentially allow users to break traceability by going back and forth between different cryptocurrencies, or of course use Monero. And for as long as there is a need and a marktet for mixing services, there will be mixing services. They can maybe shut down one of those services every few weeks or so, but that doesn't stop anyone from setting up the next one. I was wondering if authorities should run their own mixing services as that would be an effective way to gather as much data about people as possible.

Mixers cannot be banned. Especially non-custodial/decentralized ones. Those who care about privacy will move on with their lives by using another mixer that's truly censorship-resistant. We knew from day one that centralized mixers were going to be scrutinized by mainstream governments. After all, they don't want people to enjoy true financial privacy. The more people obfuscate their transactions, the less power/control the government will have.

With DEXs, atomic swaps, and privacy-oriented cryptocurrencies (eg: Monero), we'll never have to worry about government surveillance ever again. Let's hope BTC devs integrate a privacy mechanism into the protocol (Zero Knowledge Proofs?) for complete peace of mind. If they do this, expect constant opposition from governments in the long run. Satoshi never intended to please the government in the first place, so why should the community do otherwise? Just my opinion Smiley
I couldn't agree more with this statement (marked in bold). If privacy is the default, then there is no way to flag/cencor certain coins and we have a fully fungible system, even better than cash in many ways.

putting privacy enhancing tools into main wallet apps and even the main core node software will cause more legal issues, because coin join/mixers  requires a central manager and would effectively turn bitcoin from an open source software and turn it into a service. which then allows authorities to grab further jurisdictional footing into the bitcoin ecosphere

so no thanks. [...]

Is that so? I thought there are already decentralized versions of mixing protocols available - or is this indeed something technically impossible: A decentralized mixing solution? Source for your statement please.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Meta Crisis, finite resources vs exponential growth in (fiat) economy ++ on: December 12, 2023, 05:45:06 AM
I recently stumbled upon Daniel Schmachtenberger, a macro-economist, macro-ecologist, philosopher and much more.
He's given plenty of interviews and talks that can be found on youtube and other platforms.

Most interesting to me is his way of connecting the dots in an ever increasingly complex world (thus the "macro" in most of his titles). One of his main claims is that by trying to solve a problem (locally) new ones emerge because the focus was too narrow, which in return often creates more (level 2, 3 etc) problems that in the long run make the solution to the initial problem void (or let's call it -EV).

In any case, the reason I mention this here in the Bitcoin forum, is his view on fiat money, the ongoing printing of money and the underlying exponential growth rate that will inevitably result in catastrophy. Daniel claims this is not sustainable in the long run and we are approaching planetary boundaries: The planet's resources are finate and linear and thus are starting to be unable to fulfill the exponential rate of growth. One of the main drivers of this system we are all entangled in is the current currency system we use, which enables this insane increase in monetary supply: the central bank controlled fiat money.

I'd highly recommend to check out some of his talks, you can give it a start with this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kBoLVvoqVY&t=260s

If you have any insights on Daniel Schmachtenbergers theories and thoughts or his stance in regards to the fiat system as one of the main drivers for some of societies biggest challanges right now, feel free to discuss and comment. Input in regards of similar thinkers like Daniel is also most welcome.
I resere the right to remove any random OT posts or ramblings, so don't bother with spam please.

Now, this is a cool looking project and moon themes are generally a good thing when done well. Excited to see these IRL.
26  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INTEREST CHECK] Physical Viacoin coins by NattyMind on: December 12, 2023, 04:06:12 AM
These are very nice coins, I think one or two good photos might help with the interest.
Wish these were Bitcoin-loaded and themed, they would be SO MUCH more popular. VIA is just so niche and tbh, even though I got the coins because they are nice silver with a wonderful design and hologram, I have no idea what's going on with that cryptocurrency.

Just checked, seems they had a 10x price increase over the last 7 days: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/viacoin/
What the heck was going on there?

btw, if you can't post pics, just throw in the link and I'll repost them for you. Or buy a copper membership.
27  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Need help on: December 12, 2023, 04:01:09 AM
And while we are at it, is there a better alternative to trust wallet? What I mean is an app for android that is ideally open-source and can handle tokens and shitcoins and all that jazz.
I remember there was unstoppable wallet which turned out to be scammy, too.
Unstoppable wallet is a better alternative to trust wallet, because it is open source and you can also extend your seed phrase with a passphrase when you use unstoppable wallet. I don't know where you got that information from, but the wallet isn't a scam, except if someone downloads a fake or phishing version of the wallet. The only downside with Unstoppable wallet is that it does not support as many coins as trust wallet.

True, I just checked wallet scrutiny and it is listed as a very solid and secure one there.
I was thinking about another one that stole customer funds, can't remember which one that was right now, about 10 months or so ago. But quite likely it was closed-source, not like unstoppable wallet, which is open-source.

Wow, das ging ja diesmal richtig flott. Sehr schön! Hoffentlich können wir auch mit 25 PH ne zeitlang laufen.

Good luck to us, may Satoshi's spirit watch over our hashing-machines this time, so that we may find the right share to crack a full block.

29  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Auction] Crypto Imperator 10,000 bits Bitcoin Ed. Coin on: December 11, 2023, 11:20:51 AM
Winning bid. Congrats. I will message you in a bit to get all the details sorted out. Thanks everyone for participating!

0.02 BTC

This went for a surprisingly high premium, considering bitcoin price in relative all time high.

Yes and no. Historical collectibles like this, especially loaded with lower denominations, have been selling for multiples of their loading quite a bit - just not over the recent 12 or so months.
I actually think it's not that big of a premium given rarity, age and the fact it's CIs first Bitcoin piece.

Kudos and congratulations to both auctioneer and winner.

Congrats from me, too to tldr-hodl on this nice piece of collectible history.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Count down to Bitcoin halving. on: December 11, 2023, 10:31:55 AM

As the count down to Bitcoin halving continues I feel I should put it up here for all to see and take every necessary and relevant steps to fill their bags as time permits. As we all know when ever Bitcoin halving is around the corner, there is always a surge in Bitcoin price from its current price to a higher one. As it stands now, we all know that the Bitcoin market is heading for a bull because of lately, there have been increase in Bitcoin price which has been long expected by the Crypto community.

Hopefully, this forth coming halving would trigger a new all time high as the case maybe and as such the market is still early to enter. While doing this, use funds you can afford to lose as no one can predict the direction of the market.

It would also be nice to keep track of the halving count down and activities and to do that, the link below can help you out by taking you to the coin market cap page where it is visible to see.

https://coinmarketcap.com/

Click on the Bitcoin halving at the front page, there you would see the halving details.

It's a much discussed topic these days, the Bitcoin halving.
I noticed how mainstream the thought of a next bull cycle in parallel with the next halving is, when i talked to some friends that were not that much into crypto but suddenly started babbling on about the next ATH they are expecting with the next halving.

So I'd propose to have a more nuanced view on the halving event: It's the 4th Halving now. Almost anyone involved with Bitcoin is aware of it and also about the price history in relation to it.
This automatically means the price effect is at least to some degree already priced in to the current exchange rate, compared to the previous cycles. However I still believe there will be a noticeable effect. Just take it with a grain of salt, this is an un-paralleled market and any predictions are still just speculation. Too many other factors also influencing the price of Bitcoin.

That said: Happy hodling/accumulating - never a bad time to do so.
31  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 1HODLCLUB Site Down? on: December 11, 2023, 10:19:26 AM
Anyone noticed the official store for 1HODLCLUB is down? I've typed the following link: https://1hodlclub.com

But I've found that message from Shopfiy which reads "Sorry, this store is currently unavailable". The old domain (1hodlclub.store) doesn't work either. Don't want to spread FUD, but is this a red flag?  Huh

Thanks for the info, better be alert than sorry. Website seems to be working fine, thought, including the shop.

Just checked his profile, seems to be active as of today https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2938510
Last post is around 3 months ago, maybe he can jump in and say something on the matter.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixing is NOT money laundering, per se on: December 11, 2023, 10:11:21 AM
Full anonymity on the internet is a no go . If three letter agencies decide to track you down , you are doomed .
Sure, it's not easy, but care to explain how Satoshi's identity still remains a secret 15+ years after BTC's announcement/whitepaper?

You fail to understand that you are not the all seeing eye . That you or i don't know who satoshi is , doesn't mean that satoshi's identity isn't known to everyone . Who are the ones that know it ? If i had to guess , people close to him that are good in keeping secrets . Oh , and of course three letter agencies , if an order to find him was given at some point .
And three-letter agencies have done absolutely nothing regarding Satoshi during the last 15 years because...?

Because the "the cat is already out of the bag". - The core idea of Bitcoin and its current implementation are unstoppable. Satoshi has nothing to say in that, even if he were to appear right now.
So in regards of Bitcoin it would be of little help for any government or agency to confront the real Satoshi in whichever way.

To bring this back to topic:

I still believe the only way to go about Bitcoin privacy is making it mainstream. Right now only a handful of dedicated wallets offer a coinjoin / whirlpool or similar option. If instead this was an integral part of most commonly used wallets (hard and software) and would needed to be turned-off first instead of turned-on, it would exponentially help the privacy of Bitcoin.
So it's up to the devs in the right positions to make this option more broadly available, easily accessible and ideally auto-on from the get-go.
33  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Need help on: December 11, 2023, 09:51:44 AM
To start with, trust wallet is not a safe wallet to use. Second, secondly this is the issue that trust wallet users have been complaining about, which I have come across a few times now in this forum, and one of my friends was also affected.

The issue could be as a result of you either using a low transaction fee to send out your funds to another wallet, or the transaction can still be unconfirmed in the blockchain. I will advise you to move your wallet to a more friendly one, like BlueWallet or Ethereum. You might be exposing your seed phrase to two different wallets, but you're better off.

Just try importing your wallet to BlueWallet or Electrum and making your transaction through any of those wallets.

It was already stated, but I want to emphasize this, trust wallet is closed source and imho risky to use, especially for larger amounts.
Not ideal but much better to store alt-coins and tokens on a trusted hardware wallet instead.

And while we are at it, is there a better alternative to trust wallet? What I mean is an app for android that is ideally open-source and can handle tokens and shitcoins and all that jazz.
I remember there was unstoppable wallet which turned out to be scammy, too. which seems like a good alternative (I thought there was something going on, but must have been an other non-open source wallet).

34  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] EBAY bitcoin/cryptocurrency finds!!! on: December 11, 2023, 09:45:19 AM

There were many black address coins funded by Smoothie, hence they did not contain  “buyer funded” on the hologram.  The ones he marked as “buyer funded” were not funded by him and shipped unfunded.

none of smoothies coins are ever funded by him - all his coins are funded by the buyer. The only difference is whether the buyer funded them before smoothie shipped them or upon receiving them. If it was upon receipt and the coins were shipped unfunded they got the buyer funded holograms.

But to the best of my knowledge, smoothie has never directly funded his coins.

We are slightly OT here regarding Ebay finds, but I'd like to jump in real quick regarding smoothies XMR releases - correct me if I am wrong but some of these were prefunded or were they not?

And yeah, regarding the BTC coins: "buyer funded" is slightly misleading / unprecise since all of them kind of are.

Okay, I've been reading the OP and then a few follow up pages.

Please can someone clarify if I get this right - since a mixer is also an integral part of certain wallets with a strong focus on privacy (Samurai, Wasabi etc), will it also be prohibited to talk about these?

In consequence, will it be prohibited to talk about https://walletscrutiny.com/ or any other forum, website, service focused on privacy in Bitcoin?
What about Monero, can we talk about that?

...

Examples of things that are not banned mixers include exchangers (unless they have a mixing function), CoinJoin-supporting non-custodial wallets, and Monero.

Thanks and my bad. I really read the whole post but somehow not the last sentence.

Glad to hear it but I feel it contradicts this:

1 b. If a site is not primarily a mixer but has a mixer function, such as a mixer function on a gambling website, then the whole site is considered a mixer.

@ Kryptowerk,

Okay, thanks for the several insights and updates from BP and tothemoonsands and others.

I'll make an order (with BTC that high now) as soon as things have been resolved and when there are SegWit and Lightning payment options (with current high fees on the network it's more needed than ever).
