Amir has 13 posts and he is providing a service ... better be careful.. he does not accept Escrow ..

While I am not keen on FUD (however well intended) I do have a couple questions that Terrahash should address.

You are offering assembly, which means you will need a certain amount of resources (space, equipment, personnel).

How are you going to accomplish this when the last two business addresses you have claimed for Terrahash are vacant?

The first address you listed, 1261 Birchwood Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94089 has been vacant to over 6 months, confirmed by realtor.

The second address, 1800 Wyatt Drive, Suite 15, Santa Clara, CA 95054 is also vacant, confirmed by realtor.

Links to realtor contact info for both properties:

Terrahash please explain. You offer no escrow which John K. on this forum offers for reasonable fee. This starts to look like a questionable enterprise.

Ditto but on the contact page of the webpage being "404 not found..."

@ragingazn628

How are you going to deal with fractional chips? They sum up to 15 chips. I guess you could round down the number of chips and count the price of fractional chips towards shipping costs. Remaining 15 chips could be sold to someone in the group.

Also the developer chips that are shipping early must be disbursed and no doubt count towards the 780 chip total.
I would think that they would NOT be included.
A 10k chip purchase, and can't get a couple dozen gratis?

This is a critical point for people getting their expected share, it seems relevant to consider it.

Hi OP - do you still have a link for this project?  I was an early user/donor and would like to try it out again.

What is a use case for gap limit?   A retailer would need it to serve 100,000 unique purchase addresses at a time?  Could I serve 100,000 addresses and when half are used up I would be served an additional 100,000 addresses by Electrum?

(the purpose of this could be to determine a unique point of sale "intent", when someone determined to buy an item)

Thanks!!

Please read http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5480131/will-python-systemrandom-os-urandom-always-have-enough-entropy-for-good-crypto

/dev/urandom can indeed run out of entropy if it is called repeatedly.
Here we call it only once, when the wallet is generated, so this cannot happen.

The only risk i see is if your wallet is created as part of the OS install on a very simple device. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi Thomas, thank you for this wallet, I have really enjoyed it from an aesthetic perspective so far.

Given that a lot of people are likely to start creating wallets on a very simple device right after an OS install (debian netboot or similar), would it be wise to increase the system entropy somehow and collect randomness in a method similar to that used by GnuPG?

Thanks again for your work with the wallet!

sent mine via email on the 26th with a note about 2 day shipping, just confirming that was me.

I agree, but why do they need my real name (mail will be delivered regardless), phone number, and email address?  Again, I have no problem giving this information out, but I'm still failing to see why it's needed.  Looking for clarification from OP.

I guess email address is needed for status update, which is fine. Phone number is something additional. All of which I have already provided. It is also ok if ragingazn does not provide anything, but it would be nice if he did - he is not an organization. In ebay sale, for example, you always know both parties.

Anyhow, assuming John K has all the corrected details, this is almost a no-op - except more burden for John if something goes wrong.
A phone number is needed for some shipping companies AFAIK. I'm always being prompted to put a phone number when getting a shipment too.

I don't want anyone except JohnK knowing OP's info.  I don't want our chips stolen by someone here or someone who can leverage someone here.  In addition, JohnK would release it in event of a shipment failure.

JohnK - is there a protocol for further communications from Avalon regarding the order shipment and delivery status? Thanks!

So we email you with our shipping information, but are we going to have the PCB option?

PCB is a possibility. Nothing concrete right now.

To put it in words. Burnin's project is much ahead of us right now Wink

Avalon will release their sources though.

Also if you haven't sent me shipping info please do it now to avalonasics@gmail.com

Let's clarify the fees for individual shipping and what you guys will be responsible for:

Everyone is responsible for the following:
  • Import Customs Fees (divided among all 79 investors)
  • Shipping will be via UPS (closest to me - not sure if cheapest, can be changed based on interest of the group)
  • Shipping Costs to your location. For this I can do COD (Cash On Delivery - you pay the shipping price when the item gets to you)
  • Shipping Supplies (I will buy in bulk divided among all 79 investors) - We are not sure how big the chips are, how will Avalon ship 10,000 chips?
  • I will declare the customs fees when we ship next to nothing so you don't have to pay high import fees for your country.
  • Your shipment will be weighted on how much BTC you have contributed and when you sent the BTC.

Just to clarify, we're dividing customs fees by INVESTORS and not by chips? So a guy who ordered 20 chips is going to pay 1/79th of the customs, while a guy who ordered 1000 chips also pays 1/79th?

Shouldn't it be that you pay a percentage of the customs fees, based on what percentage of the order belongs to you? Customs on $100,000+ worth of chips is gonna be steep. For somebody who ordered maybe 10 chips, their customs bill could end up being more than their chips cost!  Shocked

I agree, the portion of fees to be paid by each one shall be proportional to the number of chips ordered.
The formula to calculate it is easy: (Total Fees)*(chips ordered)/10,000

Otherwise it would be unfair.

Done. I will be doing that for the Import Fees

When you reorganized the spreadsheet, overpayment information was not reorganized with paid amount.  The overpayments were originally intended for shipping but it might be best to return them now since you plan to do most shipping COD (cash on delivery).  Can you revert the overpayment information to the correct line for each person who overpaid? Thanks!

Yup I will message JohnK
Can everyone with overpayments PM (and post here) their BTC addresses for the refunds to be sent? I'd like this to go all at once to save on the blockchain fees. (considering that it's all smallish payments)

Thanks again for everything!  Smiley

Please send my overpayment and any tips to my tip address. Thanks again, JohnK!

Okay, I'll place the order once the addy gets to 782.1 and using up all funds available. (including the unclaimed funds)
If that's fine, I will be around for 2 more hours before I sleep - hopefully we get to there. Worse case me and OP gets 2.5% worth of chips anyway.

By the way, I should ship using DHL, right? I'm making an account there now.
Awesome!!! Just a few more btc guys send more if you need to!!!!!

DHL is great! I once did a next day delivery to Pakistan for a mars ii and it got there ASAP!

How did they manage next day to Pakistan?

Hi!

I want to buy 20 chips, but having problems with my wallet (it's encrypted and I don't remember the password). I'm trying all the combinations that come to my mind but till now I didn't found the right one.

I don't want to miss this buy of chips and buying Bitcoins will take some days for me, so my last chance is to offer my professional services as graphic designer. You can view my work (my website is in spanish) here: http://www.andresmorales.es

So, if someone needs a logo, poster, brochure, small website, etc. we can come to an agreement for less of 2 BTC (I normally charge more for my works). Till the job is done and you're satisfied with it you don't send me the chips. Nice deal, isn't it?

Regards,

malvino

I hope this works out - OP does need some logo work done.  Best of luck and goodnight all!

36  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: bfl shipped 2013/3/31 on: April 27, 2013, 06:52:24 AM
Post title should be changed to "bfl has not shipped as of 2013/3/31"  for maximum accuracy.  Just sayin'.

sorry I do not agree!. All life is a play on words but my interpretation is this: A bfl customer ordered and paid for a bfl mini-rig. (an employee is not precluded from doing so) Bfl delivered (singular) to that customer (method not specified on the 2013/3/31). Customer used rig and posted pics of working item. Therefore officially (as stated) bfl delivered (singular) on the date specified a working asic to a customer. The clarification of other deliveries (plural) will presumably come in the near future from bfl with regard to packing, transport, number of completed items, number of components in hand, speed of manufacture etc. reg.

I want to buy 1 BTC worth.

What is the procedure? Should I simply edit the sheet and then send to the address? Or do I pm JohnK?
Also, in case I need it shipped outside US, when will the shipping cost be figured out and paid?

Send the coin, post the TX ID. Only me and OP can edit the sheet. I will add you in the sheet. OP will ask for your address when the order is in, and figure out the costs later.

Thanks for the reply. So I am sending 1BTC that will be counted for chips only?

Yours plus OP's fees plus shipping would be figured out later? Or should I send 1.0744 to book 13 chips and that would be counted as having paid off fees, only shipping to be figured out later?

Per the original post, the latter.

What will probably happen is this: Your total will be truncated at the chip and the remainder will be used for shipping.  This will leave us with a few unpurchased chips that were originally covered by this shipping balance, but that will be very easy to organize at the time.

my responsibility for the funds stop at the point when the funds are in to Avalon.

Are you involved with making sure we get the chips from OP?
Check the posts from here (mostly between me and fpgaminer): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177994.msg1889287#msg1889287

Oops, I forgot in my post, as a digest for anyone lazy -> escrow holder will hold OP's identity in escrow for legal action, too.

So there's that, since these are ~103,000 USD in real goods, we cross the bar for legal action.

As per the contract, JohnK is only responsible for buying the chips to the address OP has provided.  OP has presumably provided a driver's license and bills for this address.  FWIW OP has tons of reputation and will only get more positive rep from this. He will be very careful to do it right, quickly, and make no snap judgments IMO.
