21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Don't cheap out on your PSU on: May 28, 2017, 01:26:39 PM
I have a mix of Corsairs for my 4 rigs.  AX1200 that I bought used, two HX1200i's and an old Antec 1200w.  I just ordered two more HX1200w's.  Never had a problem.  I'm trying to standardize on one kind of PSU for future builds.

I'd love to try one of the HP 1200w server PSU's but can't seem to find where to buy the breakout board.  I know there are a couple out there.  Don't want to hijack this thread, but could someone point me in the right direction of a good breakout board for these?  Also are the HP 1200w's pretty loud?

And I missed it.  I thought I had back in stock notifications turned on in NewEgg.  Nuts!!!!   Undecided

Long time lurker, one of my first posts.  I have three 6 card rigs (RX4xx Series), looking to expand.  I'd like some more info on those server and pico PSU solutions.  Mainly, how loud are these things?  I work in the IT field and some of these server PSU's are loud, though the newer ones are quite a bit quieter.  I know this isn't a for sale post, but I'm very interested in buying one to try out.  I'm running Corsair 1200w PSU's right now.

Also thank you for all the info you provide in this forum.  People like you are why this community is top notch!   Cheesy

I'm looking to purchase 3 more RX470's. I'm on the fence though because the next gen RX5xx series is rumored to come out next month. ROI is better than ever due to eth prices being up. What do you guys think? Should I just mine with what I have or pull the trigger on a couple more cards? Are you guys holding off on buying cards until the new ones come out?

Rumor is that the entry price for the 570/580 rebrand will be slightly lower than the 470/480 was but its unknown for sure and we won't know for at least another month right now.

I just jumped on a deal yesterday for some sapphire 480s with the 7000mhz memory for a new rig I'm building because the price was right.

Right now with the current price increases that are occuring on ETH, waiting a month is highly questionable whether or not that would be the better play.

My bet is, if you can get your GPU's at the right price, the increased return you'll get between now and next 30 days will outweigh any potential cost savings there may be by waiting a month to buy a RX4xx at a cheaper price or purchase an RX5xx that performs slightly better.

I was thinking the same thing.  I'm pulling in around $2 a card a day.  So 30 days is $60 a card.  I don't think the resale value of the rx470's will drop that much once the RX5xx's come out.  I think I'm just going to order a couple cards and mine away while the sun is shining.   Cheesy  Thanks guys for the input.
