21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mining pools shut down in China with no clear reasons on: June 02, 2017, 02:15:35 AM
Sichuan, a mountainous areas in China, is home to many btc mining sites. And now it's in wet season, But mining pools there suddenly shut down, including Bajiaoxi, a mining pool with 6,000 machines that obtain 27 btcs per day. Bitcoin workers are not willing to reveal any details. And local government say they never release any documents asking them to close down. As the bid three resumes btc withdrawl, how come mining pools left for no reason?

22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / bitcoin is put in jail, and altcoins are still at large on: May 26, 2017, 10:34:16 AM
Recently, as Eth price is rallying, many Ethereum enthusiasts become rich overnight. A bitcoin holder(ZY), however, lost his mind. He started typing words like”I feel sad to see others get rich “ in a bitcoin group.
When be interviewed, he suggests that altcoins are rallying partly because bitcoin and litecoin withdrawals are suspended and partly because the stock market sucks. So a great deal of money is pouring into the cryptocurrency market. And it is just a bubble. When be asked about btc and gold, he says they are not the same and fiat money is what to blame for the polarization of wealth.
here is the full interview: http://news.8btc.com/bitcoin-in-jail-altcoins-are-still-at-large
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The upper limit of makes bitcoin a speculative tool instead of a currency on: May 26, 2017, 02:54:49 AM
gold is not bitcoin, in fact they have nothing in common!
gold is getting its value from so many different usages it has. from obvious things such as being used as a jewelry to small things such as usage in electronics, and other parts of science as an element. and so on. so it doesn't matter if one idiot held 1 kilo of gold, the rest of the world were still using gold as it was meant to Smiley

bitcoin gets its value from being decentralized secure and also for being a currency and for that to succeed people need to use it as a currency, if everyone just holds bitcoin in their cold storages that is the death of bitcoin in my opinion.

the turtle is gonna fall over and die!
"if everyone just holds bitcoin in their cold storages that is the death of bitcoin in my opinion.", this is exactly what is going on. so many believe btc price would be like "one btc, one house", and they use it as a store of value. and at this point, so many complain about btc transaction fees and switching to alts.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The upper limit of makes bitcoin a speculative tool instead of a currency on: May 26, 2017, 01:56:22 AM
to respond to the OP title...
"The upper limit of makes bitcoin a speculative tool instead of a currency"

not really.
the exchanges make it speculative.
for instance code could be added so that bitcoins 'price' is fixed to things like the cost of living index. and the variation changes at a predictable timescale of deflation.

this is known as 'pegging'.

so its not the 21m cap that causes speculation. its the lack of code/rules of trade, lack off fee priority formuleas to ensure healthy utility that causes the speculation

its the lack of rules lack of information, lack of future knowledge that causes people to guess

guess=speculation

but in his article, he also said in the bitcoin market, it is so clear that when you hold 12 million bitcoins, you control 50% of the whole market and 90% when you have 18 million bitcoins.  His full article is here http://news.8btc.com/the-upper-limit-of-21-million-makes-bitcoin-a-perfect-speculative-tool-instead-of-a-currency

25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The upper limit of makes bitcoin a speculative tool instead of a currency on: May 25, 2017, 10:46:47 AM
Today, I read the most hilarious analogy by a Chinese btc holder.
"Hypothetically, when President Mao founded the New China in 1949, there were 57 kilos of gold in total that are as fixed as bitcoin. Mao gave one kilo of gold to the 56 ethnic minority groups and embedded the last kilo in the back of a live turtle. 68 years later, China’s GDP reaches over 570 trillion CNY and we are still in the time of gold standard, then one kilo of gold equals to 10 trillion CNY. That turtle who did nothing in the past 68 years now occupies 10 percent of China’s total wealth."
Anyway, his key point is any deflationary bias currencies are inherently speculative.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a good investment, but never a global currency on: May 25, 2017, 06:30:50 AM
Bitcoin will never become a 100% global currency, so just forget that. This pipe dream of Bitcoin becoming a global currency, is impossible. People and countries cannot even come together on things like climate change and cultural differences, so why would they accept Bitcoin as a reserve currency?

80/20 will be with us, as long as there are capitalist systems in this world. ^hmmmmm^

now you are telling the truth. Some enthusiasts are just too optimistic . BTC is mostly negative on media coverage and it is lack of regulation. will it be the world currency? doubt it.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a good investment, but never a global currency on: May 25, 2017, 03:09:49 AM
i keep seeing articles from 8btc repeating the same thing for some time now. it is like the 10th article that i see in which they quote some people we have never heard of who are calling bitcoin a pure investment and nothing more.

and each time i will repeat: "Bullshit"!

bitcoin is a currency and if anyone wants it to thrive, they must accept it as a currency. otherwise we are just wasting our time speculating to no end.
and price can not go higher than a certain level unless it is for real adoption of bitcoin as a currency.

people seem to have forgotten why this rally started and why we are $1000 above the previous price! in which case it is because of Japan and their adoption of bitcoin as a legal method of payment aka as a currency.
how do you define people you have never heard of? the point is only a few people like Jiang zhuoer, jihan wu, charlie lee that you have heard of. The rest group of chinese investors, miners that you never heard of are actually very popular in china.
as you mentioned real adoption of btc,  that's exactly why people are arguing eth would surpass btc.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a good investment, but never a global currency on: May 24, 2017, 09:01:18 AM
Yuanwei: One of the seven writers of the book Bitcoin, has been holding btc for 4 years and never sell one bitcoin. He started to think bitcoin is actually anti-human and a zero-sum in 2016. Fixed amount will cause the 80/20 rule and the rich have no responsibility for the poor. So if Bitcoin becomes the world currency, it will inevitably lead to the polarization of wealth and cause social unrest.

http://news.8btc.com/bitcoiner-yuanwei-bitcoin-is-a-good-investment-but-not-a-global-currency

In my perspective first it will lower the worlds economy because most of the money returns and come in the web. And businesses would run out of workers because opportunity in btc is more easier. Bit by bit more and more businesses are investing in in btc and i think most money would go in the web and most oppurtunities now underlies in btc. And local goods wont have any rich business men to invest in them or fund them.
Then when do you assume all these will come true?

i am kinda confused how come all altcoins are going crazy these days. is this coz btc withdrawal is suspended for now?
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction confirmed within 20 minutes on: May 24, 2017, 01:44:15 AM
That's really cool for you.  it took me 2.5 hours to get a transaction confirmed last night. and i paid the fees!
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / eth's market cap reach 50% of btc, will it overreach bitcoin? on: May 22, 2017, 10:02:55 AM
A 6-year old bitcoin investor shared his stories about investing in altcoins. And after constant failure, he insists that no altcoin will surpass bitcoin, at least not in this life. As a friend of Vitalik, he says eth is a great project, but the eth foundation would be the root of corruption.

33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The cryptocurrency market is now all about speculation and a game of money on: May 11, 2017, 10:09:23 AM
Load of crap, Duang Honbin's views need to be put in the bin. So much wrong wth those views I don't know where to start.

i couldn't agree more.
these days 8btc seems to be publishing a lot of these low value articles about so called "investors" who are repeating practically the same thing about bitcoin and call it an investment which is not good!
and apparently none of them even know that bitcoin is a currency first then an investment. specially these days that big countries are adopting it as a currency, not calling it as an investment.
it only shows that chinese bitcoin players are very anxious now. they made a bubble themselves, and now they are desperately seeking a way out. it's not about the quality of their views, coz they people were once deeply involved in this area too, but now they realized maybe they are not right person to be part of this revolution. i think it's great for these doubters to leave. people who have faith will stay in the community. just have some patience.
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The cryptocurrency market is now all about speculation and a game of money on: May 11, 2017, 09:29:33 AM
A financial consultant Duan Hongbin who started investing in bitcoin in 2011 and altcoins in 2013 said the chinese cryptocurrency market is now all about speculation, especially in the altcoin market. price going up is just a bubble. http://news.8btc.com/the-cryptocurrency-market-is-now-all-about-speculation-and-a-game-of-money
he believes cryptocurrency is not the right investment for the middle-class. People who have nothing may give it a try, but those who are relatively rich should not seek high-risky investment. Plus, as the China Securities Regulatory Commission plans to fine the big three exchanges, it will be even tough to invest in this area.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is BTC for you? on: May 11, 2017, 01:00:08 AM
it means a whole new world to me. i has to follow btc news everyday, it changes to fast.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies are sirens luring you to a journey of no return on: May 10, 2017, 05:47:10 AM
Why is it always chinese? Where does 8btc find this people?
I agree with the part that you can't get out in the world of crypto currency
it's like a whole new world to be discovered and earn this digital currency in many ways
Before you know it you're addicted to it.
Well I suppose that's what 8btc do... they report what is going on in the Chinese community. Plus, chinese people are known for their investment appetite, it's not so difficult to find people sharing their stories. i think it's nice to get to know other people.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies are sirens luring you to a journey of no return on: May 10, 2017, 01:39:30 AM
Trading crypto is quite hard job as even a small piece of news/fud/hype can trigger massive market move which can't be predicted earlier to make safe exit. For example, bitcoin price pumped over 10% overnight today while all alts are red without any news/update.  Wink
but it is predicted that segwit will finally be activated in litecoin this Thursday, so the price is supposed to go up.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrencies are sirens luring you to a journey of no return on: May 09, 2017, 10:51:18 AM
A chinese btc holder Da Tou ( if translated literally, menaing" big head) shared his story, saying once you jumped in the world of cryptocurrency, there is no returning back. u spend time and energy, but still can't figure out what’s going on with the market. It is so complicated and so bizarre. He locked himself at home studying bitcoin all day. http://news.8btc.com/cryptocurrencies-are-sirens-luring-you-to-a-journey-of-no-return
he said the point of btc is that it helped open a door onto a whole new world for us.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: will bitcoin activate segwit as litecoin price peaks at 30USD? on: May 09, 2017, 12:54:25 AM
as litecoin mining is on GPUs, does this mean banks and governments can easily control them?
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / will bitcoin activate segwit as litecoin price peaks at 30USD? on: May 08, 2017, 09:15:02 AM
litecoin price increased over 300 percent in a month and Chinese investors had a discussion last week about the future of litecoin. http://news.8btc.com/litecoin-price-peaks-at-30-usd-but-is-it-a-bubble
Since Litecoin is often looked as a Bitcoin testbed, they wonder if btc will soon activate segwit, though Bitcoin keeps meeting opposition from miners.
