27  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is the feature "reclaiming disk space" really implemented in Bitcoin Core? on: March 29, 2017, 11:03:20 AM
... This however does require still downloading all 110+ GB ...

With an UTXO commitment in the block header it would not be necessary to always download the complete blockchain to bootstrap a new node.

Does a node not always need to be complete sinyced? Meaning downloading the whole blockchain?

I think it is very interstning that satoshi has some code in there not being active.
No. That is not at all what this thread is about. Satoshi came up with an idea in the whitepaper, but his idea specifically was never implemented.

So to sum this up: the diskspace is currently not checked on the core github source? Or did i understand it wrong?
Again, you are completely missing the point of this thread. This thread has nothing to do with Core checking disk space but rather whether a specific feature is implemented in Core. Anyways, Core does tell you if you are running out of space to store the blockchain. However it cannot tell you whether you have enough disk space because that would imply it knows the actual size of the blockchain, and the only way to do that is by downloading the whole thing.

Oh ok thank you. Maybe satoshi will return in a few years Smiley
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best pos/pow coin on: March 29, 2017, 10:41:39 AM
Oh, i have never heard of magi.
Do you mean this one here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.0

Looks good, i was checking the ann. So it is still mineable and generating pos blocks?
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Best pos/pow coin on: March 29, 2017, 10:35:23 AM
Which is for you the best pos/pow coin? I personally like some older coins useing both algorithms together.

There is no cryptonote coin which is pow and pos right?
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Servers to host Altcoins seed gens on on: March 29, 2017, 03:09:20 AM
I would stick with digitalocean. They are cheap and servers can be up/downgraded as you wish. Cheapest server comes with 20gb ssd, 1vCPU, 512mb for 5$.
2CPU and 2GB ram for 20$.
The best thing is that you pay the server on an hourly rate and not for a full month. If you need more you simply "clone" one of your droplets and create a new one.

If you like it it would be nice if you could use my referral link. You will receive 10$ for free for following my referral link.

31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What would be the best maximum coinsupply for POS/POW? Transactions fees? on: March 29, 2017, 02:57:48 AM
Ho much do you think is the perfect coinsupply for a coin? I think around 50MIO like for BTC it is ok, maybe a bit less.

I am not 100% sure how important transaction fees are? Maybe some one can explain it to me?
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Wallet address prefix: How to put multiple characters in it? on: March 29, 2017, 02:47:53 AM
Let's say you want to create a new wallet prefix. It is possible to change the prefix first starting character to any letter you want. But can you combine the prefix to exist out of 2? For example make addresses start with "12"

I would be happy if someone could help me out.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptonote asic miner? on: March 29, 2017, 02:39:24 AM
Ok thank you very much, i also was sure that there would not be a working cryptonote miner.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Cryptonote asic miner? on: March 29, 2017, 01:40:15 AM
Hi there,

i would like to know if there are any cryptonote asic miners like for scrypt etc. coins?
I was not able to find any "working proff" of a real cryptnote asic miner.

37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coins worth buying on: March 29, 2017, 12:32:41 AM
Very interesting thread. I didn't read the whole thread but it seems like there are some good coins out there.
Maybe some of the coins can really help the poor people out there.
38  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Data Traffic on: March 29, 2017, 12:24:51 AM
Traffic should be low. Because you are only sending something when submitting a share and shares are not very big.
39  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Would faster blocktime solve the current slow transactoin problem? on: March 28, 2017, 11:42:36 PM
Ok thank you.

So let say BTC would have 10 confirmations required. And 10min block time. Other coin musst have 20 confirmations on 5min blocktime for the same security? And with 100 confirmations for 1min block time?
