Bitcoin is getting more and more recognition - but you'd be surprised at how many people still don't have the foggiest idea about it. I've been a member of 38 degrees, and I like how they garner support for certain topics and raise money to help raise awareness for certain topics. I propose that we setup a fund, perhaps on kickstarter or another crowdfunding platform - raising capital for full-page adverts in some of the most well read papers in the UK and the US. I'm not proposing that the money be sent to me, but I'm sure there are some trusted members on here that would be happy to help out. I was inspired to post this after reading about JP Morgan's latest attempt to stifle bitcoin: http://letstalkbitcoin.com/jpmorgan-chase-building-bitcoin-killer/What do people think?

Yeh, so this was kind of a spur of the moment thing, after a discussion in the office. I'll openly admit, I didn't do my research.
*hangs head in shame*.

She's getting absolutely screwed over by the mainstream media in the UK at the moment. We all know Charles Saatchi has a lot of money, and also media contacts that will paint him in the best way, whilst they dig dirt on Nigella. It sickens me.
Yes, Nigella probably does have some money herself, but nowhere near the same amount that Charles Saatchi has. I thought it'd be a great PR story for bitcoin, if we could raise some bitcoins for her to put towards her funding some good PR for her.
Thoughts?

It's a shame, i've got some coins in bter and just want to withdraw, but it just won't even let me. They need to take a leaf out of bitstamp's book and create an actual reliable exchange.

Ok, now it's another problem. When I try and withdraw from any fund on bter, it's saying the verification code is invalid - but it's definitely not. They really need to sort this out.

seems like cookie problems. Clean cookies firstly, then check... it helped me several times on bter
just tried it on another browser with emptied cookies etc, same thing. The website's a joke.

I also can't withdraw anything either. This is beyond a joke.

I can't even make a trade at the moment, every single page load I do - I'm logged out. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Anyone else finding Cryptsy an absolute joke? I've sent part of a litecoin there, just to see how quickly it gets into the exchange. Well it's had 6 confirmations - and there's nothing in my account yet.
So the question remains - are there any reliable exchanges to get Quark from? Cryptsy is a farce.

I'm sure this has been asked a lot already, but if you've got a big stash of bitcoins, say enough to buy a house - how do you get such vast amounts of BTC into fiat?
I read about the guy in Norway, it how did he manage to actually convert the BTC into a deposit for a house.

Willing to pay 10% on top of whatever BTC-E is selling at, payment via paypal. Cheers.

Some of the hostility in here is completely unjust. The guy has put his hands up and admitted that he didn't fully grasp bitcoin when he first published that article. It takes balls to admit when you're wrong, and I think this guy deserves a little more credit.
I'm a Londoner, and I'm still totally bemused as to why bitcoin get's no TV time on any UK channel other than RT. It really does put the mainstream media into perspective. The most the BBC can do, is produce some piss-poor, fear-mongering bitcoin article, tucked away on their website.

What's the easiest way, without having to do some SEPA transfer, or other tediously long processes that take days. I'd like to buy some asap.
I also want to know the best place to have a litecoin wallet, is there a blockchain.info equivalent or something like that?

So no doubt, there will be a concert put on for the Philippines, but we all know about live 8, and how little money actually get's put through to where it needs to be.
I figured that most people know someone, who knows someone. You're only ever a few contacts away from the right people. Wouldn't be incredible if we could get a bitcoin concert going? Whereby people pay an entry with bitcoin, and we can see the bitcoin address where all the funds go to. Obviously some of the funds would be needed to organise the event, venue etc - but the lionshare would go to where it needs to go.
Or maybe I'm just dreaming?

There really are some incredibly intelligent people on here. Really appreciate everyone's opinion.

Easy tool for making (secure) paper wallets, heavily documented and open source (so it's safe, as the code can be checked by hand): http://bitcoinpaperwallet.comI love the design of this paper wallet. I have the source downloaded and on an offline computer and print wallets locally =) One of my favs by far! This does sound very good, what I don't understand - and this is where it all goes a bit beyond me is... essentially you're printing off a private address/wallet to send bitcoins to, right? Surely that bitcoin address needs to be online somewhere in order for the bitcoins to reach it? I really want to start using this paperwallet - but need to fully grasp how it works first, any help would be appreciated.

So how safe is a website such as blockchain.info?
