Has anyone managed to pull this off? I haven't figured out how to change the fork of CCMiner.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining room Cooling on: January 23, 2018, 03:21:17 AM
he has intake and exhaust on same wall

intake  must be lower

exhaust must not  suck  intake  up and out

@ op is this close to what is happening?

I was afraid this is what may happen. Right now all I have is that one 12" intake fan. There are 80 cards in that room as well as a server rack behind there. Total power consumption in the space is close to 20-25Kw. The fan was supposed to be an exhaust but since it is so cold outside I had better luck with it setup as an intake

I am trying to work on a new strategy to cool my rigs. As usual I start down a path and it just isnt working as effectively as I would like it to. Things were working out alright when I was able to pull in -10C intake air from outside. Today it is 17C outside and it just isnt cutting it. It seems like there are two main approaches to take. You can contain the airflow to carefully direct it through all the cards or circulate so much air in the room that it doesnt matter. I figured I would post a few pics and see what suggestions others had.

Front of the rack, I was thinking of taking the rigs apart so I can space the cards out a bit more. Seems like if I could give them a bit more air space heat may be less of an issue

View of the rear of the rack and exhaust fan. I was planning on maybe upgrading this to a 24" fan that moves x4 air. As well as maybe putting an intake below that and ducting it to the other side of the room I have also considered putting some 30" warehouse fans behind the rack to move air through things better.

This is my current exhaust/intake. It seems that I have better luck when this fan is being used as an intake

I am having a hard time Mentally undertandsing what you have going there. Do you have those evga's in a sealed box and pumping Air-conditioned air through he box? If so how much air? Are the cards you can see all that is in the box? Overall how well has the design worked for you?
Hi,
It is a quite easy. Inside the electric cabinet are 10x rx vega 64 from sapphire. Top of the cards(where is the exhaust of hot air) are inside sealed air tunnel (so there is no hot air inside the cabinet) where are two industrial fans - on each side to vent hot air out of the tunnel (on the left side is connected hose which is leading to the stairway for heating of the house). Two hoses leading to the bottom of the cabinet are for the fresh cold air from the outside of the house -5celsius by now.
Dust filters are on all intake fans. Industrial electric cabinet is ip66, so I do not worry about dust and so on... Air flow is about 2000m3/h.

I see so that whole cabinet picture you have is not a different AC box. The cards are in there. What do the temps look like? IS there anything you would change up about your setup? Do you think you could put more cards in there or have them closer together?

Cards are too close to each other, I d go with at least 3" in between.
This looks like stove for me.

3 MB is doable, but not easy.
would be 3x1500W enough to power it?

3" is a ton of space they can definitely be closer than 3 inch's assming there is plenty of airflow in the cabinet. Not quite sure how close tho.

it really looks nice
i am facing so many issues with heat management as of now
but it is winter so it is okay for time being
have to implement new ways for heat management before summer
watching this thread will love to see some real images in action

Will be sure to post things as I go. Was going to give it a few days here to get feedback from people. Always good to see what details other people catch that you would not have thought of yourself.

are they gonna be hanged on a rail using a single screw? I've tried a similar experiment at home (16 gpus on 2 rigs), it saves lots of space and it has kinda ok air flow, but when connecting all the wires and risers, it will be kinda cramped depending on who big the cabinet is.

That cabinet is 24”x24”x48”. The plan was to hang the Gpus on a rail with a screw yes. It will be a bit tight, the idea here is really to optimize airflow. None of the dimensions are set in stone I just started playing with part layout to see what I could come up with.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Cabinet Design on: December 23, 2017, 02:37:41 PM
holy shit dude this is some amazing design but you need more space between gpus some good Ventilation system and some sort of material that doesn't decay with constant heat after a while.

There is almost an inch between them. My Gpus are currently this close together they just are not hung vertical like that.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining Cabinet Design on: December 23, 2017, 01:06:30 AM
I am working on a design for a new cabinet to contain my mining hardware neatly and better control heat. This current design allows for air to flow bottom to top and be exhausted. Looking for feedback and thoughts as to how to further optimize the design. I have toyed with the idea of just using a single row of cards as servicing the back row might be difficult.

33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Storj on: December 22, 2017, 05:42:41 PM
Is anyone doing storj? Does it make the most sense for me to do many small folders or one big one? Any tips to maximize gains from it? I have 64tb off unused space on one of my arrays I could use for this.

Thanks

That is not what I paid, but yes some came from here. I had every intention of mining with them, vega drivers are just not something I am interested in dealing with. After a few weeks with these I have had enough.
35  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS RX vega 56 $750ea on: December 20, 2017, 11:22:21 PM
Sorry should have included that. Cards are located in the US

Have

4 MSI
3 XFX
1 Sapphire

All used for 1 week. Mining with windows is not for me.

Will accept BTC/ETH as payment and will be using escrow to protect both the buyer and seller.
Shipping within the lower 48 states of the US is included

Thanks
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Humidity: how low is too low? on: November 20, 2017, 04:20:44 PM
Since you stated you vent to the outside adding humidly would be a challenge. I would suggest looking into anti-static floor mats near where you would work on the miners and a lot of grounding.

A facility where I worked at once had a ground bar installed in various places on the walls where you could touch to discharge any static before touching electronics. You might need to look into these type of options as the higher humidity solution sounds like it might be unavailable for you.

So based on this ESD is only a concern with human interaction? the miners sitting by themselves in this dry air are at not risk?
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Humidity: how low is too low? on: November 19, 2017, 05:40:19 PM
You don't want that water vapor kissing every part of your rig so you just let the dry air pass through it. Is is best advise to just let the warm air out of you room via exhaust. Don't ever try to adjust humidity, yes it will cool your hardware's temperature a bit but you will not be happy to see moist on your gpu, technically it will slowly kill it. If you can't run AC on your room for 24/7, just an old fan will do.

Trying to potentially raise the humidity has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with trying to bring down temps.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Humidity: how low is too low? on: November 19, 2017, 05:39:39 PM
Why do you want to make a room filled with electronic equipment more humid?

I think that's the dumbest thing I've ever read...

LOL, you have never run a datacenter have you....the humidity in a datacenter is typically kept over %50 to cut down on the potential of static discharge. At %12 the potential for static discharge is huge. I don't want the air to be super humid....It definitely SHOULD be higher than %12.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Humidity: how low is too low? on: November 19, 2017, 05:06:34 PM
The room with my miners currently has a humidity level of %12. The air is very dry, I am not sure at what point it will become a problem....or what I could do about it? I suspect a humidifier wont accomplish much as the hot air is being exhausted outside, so any humidifying I do will just be exhausted out as well I think.
