21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OFFICIAL] [SAFEX] Safe Exchange Coin [website www.safex.io] on: January 11, 2018, 01:21:48 AM
Safex is in active development, a very ambitious project, and a long term hold. Might be a good idea to have a small stake in it. If the developer can make it work as intended, it WILL be huge. If not, then oh well... At current prices, it's not a big loss.

Here's some random talk about Safex, McAfee, ect. (not my video) https://youtu.be/youQiYirfFo?t=114
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you choose to hold Bitcoin or Ethereum? on: January 11, 2018, 12:50:35 AM
I sold all ETH at all time high last summer, when it was about 0.14 BTC. It's much cheaper now, but I'm not buying, not until Ethereum fixes its technical issues. The Kitty Congestion made me loose the last bit of faith. Ethereum has many newer competitors, and soon even Bitcoin will have smart contracts.... I'm not saying Ethereum is doomed, just that I don't like it personally that much anymore. It might still make some short term profits, with all the newbie money coming in.

The opportunity to help family, and hopefully everyone else too. With an altruistic mindset, every breath brings happiness.

Everything in this world is a gamble. Still, Bitcoin has the best chances. It will survive as long as the internet exists, and 1 BTC will always be worth 1 BTC, while fiat goes down and will disappear. Bankers will be sitting lonely in their empty offices, as nobody pays attention to them anymore. Sad

Link or it didn't happen. Smiley
I checked again, and it was actually Tor Coin who said it, not the Tor Project. Lol sorry, my bad. Cheesy https://twitter.com/TheTorCoin/status/855983243144966148

Still, I don't personally see the name as a big problem.

Thank you Ashdad for your thoughts. Will think about them...

Meanwhile, I would be happy if someone could clarify, please: When I'm running a Torcoin Wallet, am I also automatically running a Tor node, thus helping the Tor network? I'm interested in any insights...

Yes if you are running on this branch here >> https://github.com/TorCoinProject/torcoin/tree/tor
Thanks for clarification! I think running a Tor node is this coin's greatest strength. It's what separates Torcoin from other coins offering anonymity, I think.

I don't see any problem with the name, by the way. The representatives of Tor Project even admitted in a tweet, that Torcoin helps the Tor Network by creating nodes. They have no reason to fight against it.

I see some justified criticism also. Every new open-source project should be criticized thoroughly, that's how stuff evolves. When a critic has the motivation of helping and offering insight, I appreciate it. But sometimes when someone presents themselves with the style of "haha, your investment will be worth 1 satoshi and I will be here to laugh at you", then this kind of background noise should be ignored.

I'm sure that most people ignore the trolls, that offer only 1 biased point of view, instead of talking about the issues at hand intellectually.

Trumpman... I'm not sure of the value of your contribution, but thanks anyway...

Unlike most other coins, TorCoin has an extremely unique NAME, a very unique and also simple/easy-to-understand NICHE (anonymity), a low total coin supply (12 million), and a focus on end-user usability.

This is what gives it a big advantage over other coins.

TorCoin shot up to $10 within a week of its ICO until it crashed back down due to the original dev (Carsen) dumping his coins - Carsen is long gone from the project, thankfully.

If he hadn't dumped 50k coins on the market, TorCoin would still be at $10 or more.  There is no reason why TOR can't jump back to those levels once demand fully absorbs the coins that he dumped.

Take a look past the top 10 coins and you see coins like 'GameCredits', 'Stellar Lumens', 'SexCoin' and 'PotCoin'

These coins are jokes and they have multi-million dollar market caps.  TorCoin is better than all of these coins by a significant margin, simply by the name and branding alone!  Not to mention the coin itself is better in its functionality and end-user usability, confirmation times, etc.
It's not a unique coin or name, it's been done before. Also has backdoor been fixed?

The name and branding (and all the hard work getting the name and brand to where it is) belongs to someone else, you guys just copy and pasted it. Good to see innovation alive and well in crypto.

Also you hold at least 1,000,000 coins....  If you choose to dump at $1 a coin you've done ok, because you choose to remain anonymous and won't put your premine into escrow you cannot be trusted. Looking at your wallets you have been dumping smaller amounts again.

Comparing your coin to other shitcoins doesn't help your cause, my scam is less scammy than your scam......

You ignore reasonable questions but spend your time offering bounties to newbs to promote this shit. Or you answer the questions with provable bullshit.

Great to see Klitshco get knocked out last night wasn't it? AJs the real deal..........
It seems like an unique idea to me, that Torcoin coin also works as a Tor node, thus helping the Tor network. I don't know if any other coins are doing this right now? I'm interested in learning more, how this works... This might make more and more people motivated in running Tor nodes, and in doing so, helping to create a more free and anonymous internet for everyone.

Of course, we don't know the motivations of Torcoin creator. If he wanted, he could crash Torcoin economy by dumping his big share. But why the fuck would he want to do that? He will benefit more by pushing torcoin up, and maybe only dumping small amounts sometimes.

Howerer that is mostly irrelevant in the long term. The relevant thing is the technology. In my opinion, torcoin offers something new in this regard. And if for any reason Torcoin should fail, another coin will incorporate this idea and make it even better.

This seems like a very interesting coin. I already made some profit with it, but I'm even more excited by its long-term potential. Anonymity is valuable, and getting more rare... So I think it's a good idea to invest into cryotos that promise privacy. Time will tell which one will be the winner...

Can someone please clarify, how does Torcoin's integration with the Tor Network work exactly? When I have downloaded the Windows Wallet and am running it, am I automatically operating as a Tor node, thus helping the Tor Network? Or do I need to be mining to do this? Sorry for the noob question.
