Another aspect to consider with the VPN service is bandwidth control. General surfing / browsing via a VPN running through a connection is one thing, streaming 4K UHD movies is quite another. I think there needs to be something built into the product that allows a VPN provider to cap the bandwidth usage.
This... A decentralized VPN service should be used for anonymous browsing not for streaming TV Shows/Movies from other countries. That is an interesting point, but since gigabit upload speed is more common, as long as they are able to get paid, I'm sure people will allow their excess bandwidth to get used.

The Xspec slack is sucks. blocked all channel and only announcement. Nobody can communicate with each other. WHY?
Good question. But i have faith in Xsepc, this coin and projects really rocks. I think it is due to issues that many team's slack channels are having, not just Spectre. Slackbots getting hacked, and scam users are direct messaging everyone to try to scam them. Spectre's slack users are getting spammed garbage scam emails. I think they are trying to shut down the abuse. I am pasting an example scam email I have received below, notice how they are using scam myetherwallet lookalike domain. Hopefully we can get a replacement to slack that isn't so easily abused. @williams.salvador2322 View in the archives Williams 7:10 PM, September 17th **Important Notification from the ICO Security team** Please be advised that we had some problems with the Ethereum based Token smart contracts. Yesterday was a fork. I made a reset wallet. No coins. Very many yesterday blocks orphan.
sorry but what do you mean by "yesterday was a fork" ? was there any updates made to the coin's code? Stopped mining anyway. Not wasting hashing power. shame, as I got 98KH worth of... back to monero, will keep an eye on this thread, hopefully things will stabilize and work out all right Yeah, that sucks I wasted hashing power. If the coin and network matures it will be worth mining again, and if it doesn't, then it wasn't worth it.

I can confirm that your pool works and is processing payments, thanks!

That sounds cool, I would.

One simple suggestion if you are trying to improve things, put in a ticket/request to have coinmarketcap update the link to the current announcement. It would be alot nicer to have that announcement link point to this thread directly.

If we want to see $1 per 1 Intense coin, then devs and community should make a promotion company for the coin. Than more people know about coin then higher the price of the coin.
It would probably be prudent to wait until there is a working product, dVPN, before promotion really begins. Otherwise you will promote and people's first impression will not be positive.

But why buy a deadcoin? I have seen no evidence of development. No development, no future.

Indeed, I used to mine it when is wasn't that profitable, but now you aren't even going to cover electric costs with the current difficulty and price. Even if you don't intend to sell, mining it now is like throwing away money.

Spectre v1.3.2 WalletI'm happy to announce the release of v1.3.2 of the Spectre wallet. This version fixes a bug several people had experienced with their balance and transactions not showing correctly sometimes, and also provides more flexibility with the generation of anonymous transactions using ring signatures. If you are in a hurry and want to trade off anonymity for speed, you can now choose a smaller ring size. Windows 64-bit, Windows 32-bit and macOS wallet binaries can be found here: https://github.com/spectrecoin/spectre/releases/tag/v1.3.2The next release will be v1.4, a major release incorporating a modernised fully-native wallet as part of our first step towards mobile wallets, as well as many improvements to the anonymous (stealth) transactions. The v1.4 release will also include binaries for Linux platforms. Thanks for the work JBG! Things are looking good for spectre, I am excited to see what will come in the future

Join the slack and ask there. Its a bug with the current 1.3 wallet, they have seen it and know the workaround to it. Should be fixed in 1.4 wallet.

There is 0$ trade volume in the last 24 hours according to coinmarketcap, and the github repo was last updated 4 months ago. Looks like the new dev already abandoned it before really getting started. Deadcoin. Too bad, I liked the attitude of the original dev had, keeping it not-so serious.

I read in the announcement that this is hybrid PoW/PoS, can you detail the how that will work? I am curious if it is like other cryptos that start full PoW and they switch to full PoS at a certain blockheight, or what the plan is.

the reason this will not take off is because the majority was distributed to only a handful of people at the ico.
initial distribution is very important.
otherwise it looks an interesting project.
Well then, how do you account for our fiat system by which the 1% of wealth is equal to the other 99%? Use logic in your arguments. Everyone cried about this ICO being a scam and now everyone crying about how distribution is unfair because they did not get ICO price. If you think this isn't going to work, get off this forum or take that stupid logic elsewhere. For some of us outside of the Western world, Spectrecoin is the only reliable cryptopcurrency, don't tell us it 'wont take off' because of your 'logic' which clearly only involves your little western brain with its little western perspective. You speak of logic but do not fully understand the term. Narrow distribution is open to collusion and market making. People do not want to invest in projects where their investment and security are in the hands of a few people. Have you heard of the term decentralisation? if not give it a google if youre even permitted access to that by your masters. Lol some tor tweaks is all that is needed to make spec the only reliable cc outside of the western hemisphere. Quick i better tell the dev teams outside of this thread so they can get in on the action. No wonder they are missing out on all this volume. Its not only about the ico price it is the distribution and that being this narrow makes it vulnerable to collusion and market making. How reliable will it be for you when the value/security is in the hands of just such a few people.. You fuck up the initial distribution you fuck up the project. A few get away with it. This one was far too narrow. Also collusion was evident from the start. I watch the exchange prices 80 sats ico .... never hardly dipped below 2000 sats exchange. This demonstrates high collusion and market making. Sorry but it is a tough road from here for spec because I hear there is a new version of coinmarketcap coming that will investigate and rank the initial distribution of the coin for greater investment security. You know, maybe some people didn't find out about the ICO in time to get in, but bought below 2k sat on cryptopia because they recognized the potential the project had. There hasn't been alot of PR, but the foundations of the coin have been solid. Now we are started to get make real progress with solid development. Dash has been pretty successful despite its concentration.

I am very interested in this coin. I think that it is a wonderful coin with a promising potential, but is the maximum coin issuance limit not pear?
There is no max. Each year, 5% will be added. A max supply doesn't really make sense with a POS-only coin. See: http://coinwiki.info/en/SpectreCoin#Specifications5% is looking a bit too much compared to this https://www.statista.com/statistics/191077/inflation-rate-in-the-usa-since-1990/ I am not 100% positive if the numbers are absolutely correct here, but anyways, Looks like 1 - 2% is going to be better. Since the PoS is future in my opinion, especialy because the speed and the scalabitliy is the future. If we want to get mass adoption, to not get into the point where the bitcoin is today. I would like a system of staking that is incentivizing stakers to use - sell - throw their or part of their "5%" back to the market. Something like PoS - PoI (proof of importance) that is using NEM. Its a PoS that is incentivizing stakers to use their coins (not just sending to another wallet of yours ) What do you think guys. Another thing, what do you think about governments cracking on the anonymity coins. I guess anonymity coins are going to be first ones attacked by govs, Have you any ideas how to avoid that, or some vision into the future in case its going to happen. You know anonymity coins wont have to pay taxes , thats going to be a problem and an advantage . Another point to consider, is that a small inflation rate, hard to say what exactly, offsets the coins that are lost forever due to wallets getting lost, destroyed etc. There are tons of stories of people who have lost wallets with no backups.

Great news! I had contributed a small amount, glad that the goal was met, and contrats and thanks to jbg!

If the whales contribute enough to allow the dev to work fulltime, it would be amazing for the project. How close are we to making the goal?

Getting listed on binance would be cool. Does anyone know what it takes to get added there?

Ledger support is going to be awesome, looking forward to it!

I think its much more likely we prices closer to that of cloakcoin and zcoin in the near future, spectre has the tech, just needs some marketing and visibility for adoption to pick up. As others have mentioned, those that traded in their SDC during the early funding period have more than 1:1 particl for SDC when you factor in the bonuses. So in that case, they would be up more than 2x right now.
