21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][OAX] openANX - Real World Application of Decentralized Exchanges on: June 06, 2017, 03:20:29 AM
interesting project, Decentralized Exchanges is this means we can use exchange in our local device (desktop or mobilephone) and  wallet stored in local device ?
how much price for 1 token?

hi Fiki, yes, the key idea is that rather than handing over your crypto key for both fiat and tokens like you do on a centralized exchange, you only ever allow an Asset gateway to hold the keys to ONE type ofAsset. For example, if its an ETH to BTC Gateway, they hold BTC, if it's ETH to Fiat they hold the Fiat. This reduces risk significantly.

In addition, the platform solves the problem some other decentralized projects have by increasing the number of Asset Gateways available to users and adding "Gateway Collateral" so users funds are "secured" against the gateway in case of a hack or other issue.

The system will aim to integrate with all existing exchanges and decentralized platforms, increasing liquidity and transparency to all users.

If you'd like to know more, please check us out on r/openanx for more info.

It has same concept of DCORP I think, both are decentralized exchange. They have crowdsale as of the moment, this two markets will clash for sure.

Hey NaXxow, thanks for the interest. We are pretty different than DCORP, we are a real world application of the DEX concept. We aim to solve the two major challenges facing existing DEX.

1) The lack of liquidity in existing DEX
2) The ability to get fiat currency on and off chain

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What are the benefits of decentralized exchange platforms? on: May 31, 2017, 06:25:59 AM
All cryptocurrency users know the shortcomings of the current centralized exchange model (CEM). Everyone knows about hacks of exchanges, and news of a fresh hack comes along fairly often. Nearly every trader I know has lost some BTC or alt-coins at least once.

Does it have to be that way?

There have been some attempts to improve the system. Exchanges upgrade security, or a decentralized exchange comes along, promising change. This is good. But many of these new projects then suffer their own problems. The news around users of some exchanges not being able to withdraw or deposit funds is pretty common these days too.

When we talk about these decentralized exchange platforms like EtherDelta and BitShare, we see they have made some improvements and are great. But they have two new problems.

First, they don’t have enough users and therefore they lack trade volume and hence liquidity. Go to any one of them and try to buy 10 BTC and see what happens.

Second, some of these platforms use a model that means “one settlement per trade” This is not ideal for a trader making many trades, or volume players.

So, the decentralized model is good, but it still has some room for improvement.

I'm curious, as I'm working a bit on a project at the moment, is it not possible that someone has a good idea and can't bring it to reality without backers?

There might be some legitimate ICOs with good ideas, but you have to realize that its the #1 target for scammers right now.
Its literally the new 419 Scam. (Nigerian Prince)
Everyone has "a great idea that will make you rich, just give us a little bit of money now!"
Investors need to do research before giving anyone money. ICOs need to prove they have good ideas and can be trusted.

Ten years from now we will be talking about the altcoin investment bubble like we do about the dot com era in the early 90s.
A few people will become billionaires with successful companies, and some investors will get rich.
Tons more will invest money and get nothing in return because the company was a scam or didn't actually provide a service that was needed.

Everything you said just makes perfect sense, thanks for the post!

Avoid ICO's step one.
Why ?
Because they are scammy by design.

Simple huh ?

Is a fucking PONZI or Pyramid scheme legit because you know the name of the guy running it ?
Or because it has parts hosted on Github ?
Or because it has a snazzy web site ?
