201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trading Or Invest ? on: February 02, 2021, 07:27:39 PM
Different strategies work for different people. I for one prefer to trade altcoins rather than invest in them and put profits in Bitcoin. There are only a couple of alt coins which I am holding for long term, rest I flip for short term profit (or loss in case of some).

Got burned heavily in 2017-18 going in with the intention of investing in alt coins, and then the bear market followed. Recouped most of the losses, but still, could have made some good money on top if I had gone in with the right intention.

Again, to each their own, and we cannot predict markets, so do whatever feels okay to you. Just my 2 satoshis.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XRP Play dirty Game on: February 02, 2021, 07:07:14 PM
I have never trusted XRP founders and devs and never will.

These are the two unlocks performed on the escrow address night before the market manipulation:

https://twitter.com/whale_alert/status/1356031982959030274

I doubt the fuel of ignited by the founders, but from the looks of it, it seems likely they cashed in on the opportunity and dumped a fair bit on the market.

I feel for those who lost money in this fiasco, and I hope they take this as a lesson and not invest just because of hype going forward.
203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: recent negative statement against Bitcoin on: February 02, 2021, 04:03:15 AM
I mean there is some truth to the statement. While I don't believe "prepared to lose their entire investment" is the right way to put it, if past is any indication, those investing in BTC should be prepared to lose majority of their investment in terms of fiat.

I think that's a risk most Bitcoin holders understand.

I like the idea better if he never supplies the address - where it has to be peeled to find out what is on it lol man, the suspense of not knowing!

Just the mystery alone would add to the value. I doubt Geo would let it go easy if that's the case. Cheesy Whoever the next trader would be would probably not wanna peel either.

206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HAHA! XRP haters missing out on: February 01, 2021, 06:20:22 AM
Not an XRP hater, just not a fan of the project. And I am not missing out at all. I have been opening shorts on XRP here and there and making good gains. Cheesy

Opened another short a couple hours ago and 10%+ in green already. I am not expecting the pump and dump to last very long.

WSB is playing a stupid and dangerous game with this 1000% intraday pump.

Putting a target on Musk imo.

Reminds me of the story when Caligula sent his soldiers to collect seashells by the shores of France, and named his horse Consul or whatever.

Over the top things like this tend to backfire.

It's not like anyone in the community will react to this anomaly with fomo or other emotional states, which I also don't think is the intended effect by WSB, rather than a middle finger to the hedge fund system.

It's rather the natural community respone when faced with absurdity on this level, like my example of Caligula, that uncontrolled violence will manifest inorder to remove the source of absurdity for the sake of retaining status quo.

WSB's behavior will, unintentional or not, cause pushback from all sides. It's not chivalrous in any way, it only comes across as unfit similarly to a deformed or diseased organism.

It's pitchfork lynchmob using money as a weapon as far as WSB behaviour.

No wonder Musk was bullied as a child.

This can't end well, that's all I know. Those who got into it early will profit, rest will get burned.

FOMO is real too, so we don't know how long it will last. Someone IRL asked me today if they should buy doge right now. They have no idea what crypto is and just want to buy into the hype.

Same with the hype stocks.

It's gonna get real ugly real soon and all the blame will fall onto Robinhood and hedge funds for "market manipulation".

So I transfered from bitcoin cash to bitcoin and I just can't figure it out and it's a significant amount of money.

Assuming you sent BCH from Bitcoin.com to a Coinbase BTC address.

Coinbase is a custodial service, meaning you don't control the private keys to the address you sent BCH to and you by yourself won't be able to retrieve the BCH. Reaching out to Coinbase support will be your best bet since they are the ones in control of the private keys. BCH and BTC use the same private key format so it should be recoverable if Coinbase support is willing to work it out for you.

Coinbase support is mostly non-existent though so expect a delay in response time.

Even though I got out of Doge long ago, go Doge! One of the longest standing cryptos and one of the best communities out there.

I couldn't find any recent threads on these. Doesn't seem like there are many in circulation.

Found a thread that seems to be the inception of this cheque:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=80957.0

Does anyone here have any knowledge on how many of these were sold? MJ maybe? Or gredinger you can educate us if you know the answer to that Cheesy

Hi,
I have a Job, the seller requested BTC Escrow (he just want to see that funds are there), but since i dont have enough funds to cover that (About 4k to 5k€ in BTC) I would like to find someone who can do that for me and he will get his money back + 20%
Here is how it gonna work, you will start an Escrow with the seller on any Escrow service you choose, you'll control the release button. Once the job is over, i will send you back your btc + 20% then you release Escrow.
If anyone is interested please contact me on Wickr: tommyouls

So you want to deceive the seller by showing them funds you don't actually hold?

Besides, if the seller only wanted to see proof of funds then they could just ask you to sign a message with a Bitcoin address you control and hold funds in. What is the need of depositing BTC in an escrow service to show proof of funds?

This is all very fishy.
