Say, I have an ongoing ICO for my blockchain application.
I have reached out to influencers and various ICO rating websites like ICObench, TrackICO, CoinFrenzy, etc. I have used most of the available social media platforms and forums to spread the word(Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, Instagram, Reddit, Bitcointalk, Crytpocompare, Cryptocurrencytalk). I have also had e-mail outreaches and run ad campaigns.
Are there other methods to do this? The methods out there are mostly stagnant. Any suggestions on how to market my ICO more innovatively?
Your websites and other social media sites that you mentioned is enough to market your ongoing ICO, i think the effective way to market your ICO in these websites and social media sites is Proposed your upcoming projects, it is very easy to attract investors when your project is well organized and have a great long term effect on the market, most investors finds ICO to invest in these sites you mentioned, the key to attract them is to develop your platform proposal to them, i mean what benefit will they get when they use your app or what so ever. i think that is the first thing you will do before you launch a campaign. its just my opinion though. goodluck to your project and ICO. |

I wonder for how long you normally hold your tokens purchased in newly held ICO? It's not about your long-term investment into the ICO, but rather about your short-term investment made to make some easy money at the early stage of crypto's life.
Usually when i bought newly held ICO tokens i dont rush to sell off my investment, i hold the tokens until the token is fully develop by the platform and until it reaches the ICO price proposed. Because when you sell off all your token right after the ICO ends usually its price is half of the proposed ICO price, thats why i hold it, usually it takes 8 to 10 months or even a year. we all have our own analysis with our own investment so better be conscious at the market prices whether you hold it forever or sell when it reaches your target price, for you to be updated with your holdings, invest at your own risks. |

i think its not the investors are the problem why the price of a token eventually drop after it is listed in an exchange, its the bounty hunters like us that always asking where can be exchange the token after the ICO ends, some bounty hunters are eager to sell off their tokens after they receive it not knowing the value of token when it is fully develop by its platform, thats why many investors get more profit because they wait for the project to develop and then sell the tokens when it reach the potential price of the token.

try give one then you will see, itdepends on the rank of each user, member rank have one smerit, full member have four smerits, and senior member have 20 smerits, the other two ranks i dont have any idea anymore, all i know is that you can give your smerit to the one that deserve for that merit just post a good and constructive post and someone will give you merit. im telling you its not that easy to gain a single merit.

i highly appreciate your effort and thoughts about how to get merit, but it is not possible to have an auto merit program, because of some reasons 1.) how can we detect if its a good quality post? 2.) not all of us are good in english (some post are merited manually because though it has not a good english grammar but have a good sense of post, basically we’re not having a language dicrimination here in the forum) 3. i think there is no API available like that.
as what i observe why people create low quality post because of low quality topic, moderators did this before deleting low quality topics if this continues we can prevent low quality post.

merit is to evaluate your contribution to the bitcointalk community. very good idea I have an idea . admin and those with high rank. You can often host good article contests, or open a topic to contribute ideas to the growing bitcointalk community. From there merit award for those articles. To give newbies like me more motivation and ideas to build the community as well as themselves, more knowledge and experience for the cryptocurrency environment.
i think there is no need to host an article contest just to prove that you are a good at it, all i can say that if everyone is being aware of high quality post and not afraid to give merits everyone has the opportunity to rank up and contribute the circulation of merit in the forum. this merit system is more than enough to motivate us to make good quality post and read more to have more knowledge so that we can contribute more in this forum. |

Currently there are two big data dumps available which auto-update weekly, trust.txt.xz and merit.txt.xz. These auto-updating dumps are pretty easy to set up, so I was thinking that it might be a good idea to produce several more of these, perhaps in the end forming a "ghetto API". What dumps would be most useful? Some that I was thinking of were:
UID -> name, merit, potential activity, posts
post ID -> topic ID, time, UID
topic ID -> board ID, first post ID
board ID -> board name
I'm not going to dump post contents in any form, since that would both be a massive file and it'd make things very easy for those annoying phishing mirror sites.
i think the UID -> name, merit, potential activity, post is useful. in this you can easily compile the post contents of a user and create an outbox for each user to be compiled into it and easy to look or search the users activity and recent post, also some useful ideas are suggested like this UID -> name, merit, potential activity, posts I can think of a few: 1. Add "Activity" (not just "potential") 2. Add a banned-status to this list (ignore temporary bans) 3. Add either "merit earned" or "merit received for free at introduction" Side note: there are more than 200 usernames with a comma, this will make processing a CSV difficult. Can you make this a file with just UID and name? you can also monitor the give and take of merits by each user. this is what i understand by this thread please feel free to correct me if im wrong. |

Mate your suggestion was already discuss many times and much better to look around and read many concern about merit. Also you say that it has a good impact in the forum why do you want to change some policy if it was running smoothly in this forum.
If you look around this forum you will see that many high ranked member distributed their merit for the deserving member and most of them are doing some event for merit to boost or force members to post high quality for merit.
this is for improvement mate, im sorry for everyone that i didnt read this suggestion in the previous thread, maybe i missed this thread or post regarding merits. its just my thoughts though. |

Since merit is one of the best solution to prevent spamming and low quality post it has a good effect in the forum in these days. however merit system also affects others to rank up, maybe because they continue to post low quality post but on the other hand there are users that have good quality post but did not recognized by other user, my suggestion is how about the high rank members like legendary and hero members monitors the constructive post and give that user a merit so that user that creating good quality post will not taken for granted. why hero and legendary? they have nothing to do with their extra merits. i also suggest that in every sections there are moderators assigned to give merits in every user that makes a good quality post these moderators mostly likely the merit source to avoid abusing give away merit and give the right user a merit. why i suggest these because of this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3122415.0if this suggestion is implemented many user are very affected since they cannot participate campaigns if they diddnt get a single merit in a month. its only my suggestion and opinion as what i have seen in this forum. sorry for my grammar. |

Something like users must earn 5 merits a months for their account to display a signature if being done by theymos or managers can make a user earn 1 merit per week to stay in a campaign.
I strongly disagree with this.Even though the merit system is doing well,I don't think every quality poster is awarded merits.My point being,a participant could be a great quality poster but due to whatever reasons his unmerited posts shouldn't stop him from participating in campaigns. This also means anybody who has earned 1 merit in a week but is a spammer to the core will also be eligible to display the signature.I can show you 10 shit one liner posts which have been credited with 10+ merits. many low quality post is being merited while there are contructive post and informative is not being noticed. what if you didnt get any merit in a month, youre not a spammer and giving your best to write quality post but in the end not receiving any merit to others? i think its a unjust idea to restrict them to wear or to participate signature campaigns just because they are not noticed by others. |

Forgive me but I am going to merit this post. I don´t think his idea is good at all, but I must admit that it has given plenty of though on how to get merit and how to get the sources to notice. Is just the most creative begging strategy I have seen until now so... Oh, gods forgive me! I am giving this user 1 merit! you dont have to say sorry this deserves a merit for his own idea he got merited, in reality his thoughts are right many users here in the forum are unnoticed by others by doing his idea is a good way to being noticed by others his good contructive post. very nice idea, i didnt think that it would be an effective way of getting merit. i should think more ideas like this to get merit, been struggling to get one. |

your question is qouted in the first page of this thread, however if youre not feeling it to read i’l answer you in summarized and not complicated explaination, you can obtain merit by making a good quality post in any thread, do not spam, and try to be constructive and informative in your post, in that way people in the forum will give you a merit, where is the easiest way to earn merit? its good to post or reply in your own native language in local boards in that way you can express and can contruct good quality post and helpful to others, but if youre already good at english you can do it in any sections in this forum. i hope that it will help you.  |
