Update 11/9/2013: TerraHash is still in business, we have not filed for bankruptcy yet. The refund from Yifu was cashed immediately back then, we did not make any profits from the recent surge in BTC prices. Again, we are still committed to provide as much refund as possible. I will update again in a couple days on how we are going to proceed with that.

Holy.  . .. SHIT . . .your still in "BUSINESS" .  .you aren't in business friend.  . . your in the midst of a death throw.  . . your the last in line of a centipede chain. .. your the retarded child in Kentucky falling down a well (Violent Femmes reference)...  you sir are anything but "still in business" . .. you may qualify for "still breathing", but that is surprising considering the shark pool you shit yourself in (ie these peeps are pissed off) . . dude sell everything you have and grovel

Your link is interesting but misleading. Favored treatment is......

Paying back loans to family and friends and ignoring other creditors. Again, the bankruptcy court will look at your transactions for a period of time before you file. You cannot favor one or more creditors over others.

http://www.terradolaw.com/chapter-7-bankruptcy.html

In this case, no customer received favorable treatment by receiving a refund by TH over anyone else.  WE are also not considered Creditors. The only ones receiving refunds from TH were forced refunds through buyer protection from Paypal and  or a Credit card.

Sorry but you are incorrect in your assessment.

Any and ALL transactions can be reversed by the Court Trustee and the longer the situation hangs on the edge, the more likely such reversals become.

Preferential Treatment covers a variety of ills and it is most likely that any and ALL refunds would not only be considered preferential treatment but actions taken in anticipation of the filing of bankruptcy which would be voided and reversed byt the court.

US bankruptcy laws differ widely from those in the UK or anywhere else for that matter.

I have seen just such actions in a case recently filed by a friend who had sold off a collection of vintage cars prior to filing.

The Court Trustee went out and retrieved each and every of those cars, leaving the purchasers high and dry with no recourse.

The cars were subsequently sold at a bankruptcy auction, with the proceeds going into thepool of  funds to repay creditiors.

I bought one of those cars from the Court for much less than the original seller had wanted.

This will happen with Terrahash if they do not move quickly and may happen anyway.

Since Terrahash was essentially dealing in unregistered securities there is no telling exactly how the Court will handle the matter but anyone who received a refund in the 90 days preceeding the filing will have that refund in jeopardy.  Remember, the Court can go back as far as two years in reversing transactions and does so on a regular basis.

The court can and probably will order the surrender of any cryptocurrency held by Terrahash as well.

My $.02.

Sad

Not according to my credit card company, who I just called. I did not receive the merchandise. I did not get a refund.  I filed a claim for the money. TH did not respond. I am not liable for the money.

When a merchant decides to use Paypal or Visa they sign a legal  contract of the terms. I'm sure their lawyers know enough to protect consumers from this type of thing.

Could I still, today, get a refund through PayPal?

You can.... it is possible.

I believe the chances of getting a PayPal chargeback/refund are directly correlated to the level of effort (and a bit of luck) put into the process.

First step is to dispute through the website.  That'll immediately be closed.

Then follow some of the steps outlined in this thread previously.  Persistence and a good attitude can go a long way toward PayPal giving you a refund.

The first time I called the refund was declined. I then asked to talk to thr manager, they seriously just chainged vocal pitches. Terrible customer service.

Keep bugging them.

204  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: November 09, 2013, 01:38:06 AM
Yesterday, I sued Terrahash for $10,000 in small claims court in Santa Clara County. A friend also initiated a small claims action against Amir and Terrahash for $10,000.  It only cost $100 to file the suit un small claims court Grin.  I am confident that I will prevail.  Amir, if you are reading this you will find my phone number on your office door.  You already know that you will lose in court.

Before filing I went to Terrahash's office but Amir was not there. Taped on the door of Terrahash's office was a 4 day eviction notice  from the landlord for failure to pay $1050 in rent (I have a picture of the eviction notice).  It was obvious that Amir has been sleeping in the office.  Clothes were heaped everywhere and there was a couch in the office that was not there before.  Someone else discovered that Amir has been sleeping in his office at night, probably trying to duck people who are looking for him, and they served him on 11/04 with a lawsuit for fraud ( Case Number 1-13-CV-254284). Mail visible through the front door including a letter from Paypal to Terrahash (I have a picture of the letter)  LOL..  The components were not in the office but I can confirm they did indeed exist because I saw them on previous visits to Terrahash.

Amir is digging himself a very deep hole.   Instead of paying back everyone owed a refund, Amir, seems  hiding.  Terrahash will not be able to dissolve the company if there are unsettled legal claims against the company.  If Terrahash files for chapter 7 bankruptcy the company will have to provide financial statements and account for the Bitcoin that was refunded by Yifu.  If Amir tries to run with the Bitcoin he will open himself up to criminal prosecution by the Santa Clara District Attorney's office for Fraud.  The noose is tightening on Amir.  Fuck a 50% refund.  I'm owed money and I want it back now.

Many of you are owed refunds by Terrahash.  Contact the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office and file a complaint.  See:  http://www.sccgov.org/sites/da/prosecution/DistrictAttorneyDepartments/Pages/Consumerprotectionunit.aspx
If enough people owed a refund start calling the District Attorney's office they will take action.  Protect your rights, get your money back, pick up the phone and call the District Attorney's office:

Mediation and Enforcement
Consumer Protection Div.
70 W. Hedding St., West Wing
San Jose, CA 95110
Email: consumer_mediation@da.sccgov.org
Phone: (408) 792-2880

A hard copy claim form is here:
http://www.sccgov.org/sites/da/prosecution/DistrictAttorneyDepartments/Documents/DA_ConsumerComplaintForm-paper.pdf

You may also file a lawsuit against Terrahash in Santa Clara County small claims court. See:  http://www.scscourt.org/court_divisions/small_claims/small_claims_home.shtml
Your lawsuit will be heard by the court about 30 days from the date you file.

AMIR, IN THE EVENT YOU READ THIS:
You assured me on multiple occasions that I would receive a full refund, the last time in front of a witness (my wife).  I've made a good faith effort to work with you.  I warned you that if you did not refund 100% of my order I would sue to recover my money.  Any asset that you have I am coming after.  Any cars, cash, BTC, property, I will put a lien on.  I am going to get my money back.  I will dog you until you pay me, count on it.   You now have two more cases pending against you.  Give me my money now or I'll see you in court.

/Golf clap!  You sir have finally figured out the only way to communicate with TH now is through the legal system.

I am very surprised that a group of TH victims have not started to work together to retain legal counsel and pursue this matter in what appears to be the only way left to put any pressure on TH what so ever. I presume TH is happy it's not happening as well...

How do you know it isn't happening? A lawyer might advise them to no longer post on this forum.
205  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: newbie with armory on: November 09, 2013, 01:18:52 AM
So I just downloaded armory_0.88.1-beta_win64.msi

I'm wondering if there are any cautions I should take before using it.

Here are a few things I don't understand, and bare with me please.

1) How do I make sure if my computer crashes, I still have my bitcoins.

2) How do I transfer my wallet to other wallet clients like Bitcoin QT or multibit?

3) For the paper backup to work, do u also need the passphrase for wallet?

4) more questions to come Smiley

This will get you started.

1) How do I make sure if my computer crashes, I still have my bitcoins.

Have a printed paper wallet stored in a safe place.

2) How do I transfer my wallet to other wallet clients like Bitcoin QT or multibit?

I just send the coins to the other wallets.

3) For the paper backup to work, do u also need the passphrase for wallet?

You can't make a paper back up without the pass phrase.

Great time to refund accounts paid in Bitcoin.
The price was based in USD, you can legally pay half-back in Bitcoin and those accounts are refunded in full.

Seize the day Terrahash.

Who are you talking to?

You do realize the last time Terrahash logged on was back on page 157 of this thread?

What is the sound of one hand clapping?

Wink

I predict Amir reads under another name at this point.

I guess their is something wrong with my computer? I don't have to be logged on to read the threads.

Fucking this. I know they're not reading this thread but what they're doing is so effing illegal and wrong.

I bet they end up in the penitentiary. What else could eventually happen?
208  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Least reliable company? on: November 04, 2013, 02:37:51 AM
So Butterfly Labs is voted least reliable even though they shipped units? Huh And Terrahash is more reliable even though they are dissolving the company without shipping a single unit? KNC is tied with Terrahash yet they have some of the best gear shipped within a month of the due dates???
209  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Ram Uprade on: November 03, 2013, 04:02:10 PM
But I researched on the net and found I could get two 4GHZ cards instead of my two 2 GHZ.
Do you mean 4GB and 2GB?

Re: Ram Uprade
Do you mean upgrade?

I'm not a spelling and grammar nazi, I swear!  Wink

Yes. I meant Gigabyte instead of Gigahertz. It has been corrected.

As an update. After shutting the program off for about a half hour it took about 20 minutes. To get the synch and block chain completed. So it's useable. Won't have to upgrade to the new easy on RAM  version if I don't want. And my computer is not slowed down at all by Armory.

From my experience 8 GB RAM total is minimal for Armory 88.1 on Windows 7 box. Runs like a champ with 16 GB RAM though. Don't be surprised if you have to upgrade to 16 GB RAM. Unless the promised Armory update to reduce RAM usage arrives soon.

I guess it depends on variables like how efficiently the RAM is being utilized. I have 8 GB of physical memory but I also have 15.6 GB of virtual memory (guessing it has to do with dual  core shared memory).  Then how fast is the processor? Mine is 2.56 GHZ. Do you have a bad virus program slowing down your Computer? Etc Etc Etc.

By the time the block chain gets too big I will hopefully be using the new version.
210  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Least reliable company? on: November 03, 2013, 02:55:27 PM
At least Butterfly Labs eventually delivers. Other companies simply run off with the money, no product delivered. Then change their name and  move on to start it all over again.

A good virus program will go a long way in ferreting out any bad code.
212  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Moving Coins. on: November 02, 2013, 11:36:50 PM
It looks like I have it almost all figured out, and I'm teaching you. The primary wallet is the hot wallet you can easily spend bit coins out of. The watch only wallet is the same wallet as the offline storage wallet except it can't spend any coins without consent from the cold storage wallet on the offline computer.

I'm just wondering if you can move the coins over to the cold storage wallet. But I bet it doesn't matter because all the keys have already been made and both wallets have them.

I have a cold bedroom and normally put on a 500w convector heater on over the winter.

How can I turn this into mining power?

The problem is, I need to sleep, so GPU's are out, I cant afford to put in a KNC (maybe the smaller one but cant

find any or anyone that will tell me if this generates some heat.

I suggest keeping the heater you have because it won't cost $5000. But if you don't mind losing lot's of money.

The KNC is a perfect choice as it is 1 Watt/1 GHZ. A 550 GHZ Jupiter would be 550 Watts. It would put out 50 more watts than the heater you already have. And would heat quicker as it has a fan dissipating the heat.

Nobody knows for sure how to use the GD Armory wallet? Cheesy

As a newly Armory user i would like to help you, but i really can't understand you. Are you asking questions? Are you making statements?

Moving on: what are you actually trying? Moving bitcoins outside the bitcoin-qt client to an Armory wallet?

So far I have all my wallets set up. I have moved coins from Coinbase and my Bitcoin-qt client to my online "watch only" wallet.

The way I see it.

1.  My online "primary wallet" is like a normal Bitcoin-qt wallet that you can spend coins out of. Any time with only the encryption pass phrase.

2. My online "watch only wallet" on the other hand.  All transactions have to be signed by the offline Armory "Cold Storage wallet" computer. Which is the same wallet as the online "watch only" wallet.

Should I. Or is their a way to send the coins to the offline computer for more security?
216  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Moving Coins. on: November 02, 2013, 09:59:35 AM
I sent a fraction of a Bitcoin from my standard Bitcoin wallet up to coinbase. Then sent it to my watch only wallet. I guess I don't have to actually send the coins (keys) to my offline computer? I just have to use the offline computer  to sign a transaction for the coins (keys) to be broadcasted?

Hi all, finally on board here so I can ask my fellow TH victims:

1. has anyone actually got their paypal refund? i tried the previously posted advice and paypal are stonewalling me with the 45 day thing. I mentioned others got a refund and it got their attention, but if i had some examples of other cases it would bolster my case i think.

2. id like to start a collective course of action against terrahash. if we club together to do something and use a % of the collective refund amount to fund any action, it would be more effective than solo action. ie i was only stung for a $950 board, i dont think im going to see a 50% refund, and from what i hear around these parts, Amir and co prob still have our BTC and theyre worth more than enough now to cover us all. I for one would be happy to give 5% of my $950 to do something about this, rather than hope for half of that to never arrive.

So, would be in? Suggestions on what kind of action and other aspects welcome (no, not considering silk road style 'hit' on him!).

I have the WI FI disconnected on my offline computer or it's turned off. But I sometimes connect it for Windows updates, Drivers for printer, Virus software updates etc..  As long as I don't surf the net and stick to business I should be ok right?

I had trouble with leaking wallets. Come back after 8 hours or so and it would go down .2 BTC for example. No longer do business with them and I'm much better off.
