202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PPC] PPCoin Released! - First Long-Term Energy-Efficient Crypto-Currency on: June 10, 2013, 04:49:07 PM
Just start ppcoin-qt with this command line argument:
-addnode=69.164.204.19
That will add cryptocoinexplorer.com's ppcoin node, which should help your client to find more of them.

If that address shouldn't work for some reason, you can also add my node with
-addnode=87.144.121.201
but that IP address will only be valid for another ~19 hours.

Thanks for the help but still no luck Sad Any idea why it says "WARNING: Checkpoint is too old. Wait for block chain to download, or notify developers of the issue" ?

I had the same problem. It is downloading the block chain when you see this message. After your block chain is in sync with the network again, it should work.

You should add the new 7790, a mix between 7770 and 7850.
+1 It's the card with the best price to hashrate ratio and also the best hashrate to watt ratio

Also 7990 would be nice (it's a dual chip 7970)

Edit: The US version works fine, but I had a look at the german version and it shows also complete computers, notebooks and gpu cooling fans. This should be better filtered.
208  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using two 7950s on: June 09, 2013, 08:35:47 PM
I disconnected everything I wasn't using to minimize power demands. It's running right now on a borrowed 750w power supply. I haven't yet tried the 700w (it came yesterday), but with the 750 it runs fine all day but then crashes each night and has to be powered down for a few minutes. I haven't yet investigated the cause of the crash, but I suspect it might be the 5+ year old hard drive I'm using.
Probably the cards heat up to much and cause the crash. Try to optimize your airflow, adding an extra fan might help.
209  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why does my hashing rate slow down? on: June 09, 2013, 08:21:19 PM
If you got any old graphics card at hand, i would plug that in, connect the monitor to it and see if the hashrate is more constant. Most FM2 motherboards have also a PCI slot, where you could plug in a very old card. You probably would have a problem to find a driver for windows 8 for such old cards and it will then only work in low resolution and with 256 colors, but it's only for testing and if it's a dedicated mining rig then it doesn't even matter.
210  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What todo with "older" PCIE Graphics? on: June 09, 2013, 08:05:55 PM
I was just wondering if there is a solution to put this Graphics external on a computer.....
No there isn't. Especially not USB.  Embarrassed

Well, there is a solution: http://www.magma.com/expressbox-16-basic which can expand your PCIe Port to 16 Ports in an external case, but I doubt anyone would pay that much... Even the box for two cards is very expensive: http://www.magma.com/expressbox-2-1u

Which AMD APU do you have? My A10-5800k does constant 107 MHash/s without BIOS overclocking, with overclocking it does a constant 113.1 MHash/s and with the new 13.6 Beta 2 driver (which is supposed to give better results to the new Richland APUs) it is giving about 114 MHz (but more unstable, drops sometimes down to 108 MHash/s but also goes up to 120 MHash/s a lot). If you connected a monitor to the APU, then the hashrate drops down with desktop usage (moving mouse, opening programms). So I connected my monitor to my 7950 which isn't affected that much by desktop usage. I''m using BFGminer with Diablo kernel, but it should be very similar to CGminer.

Does your pool support stratum?
213  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to pool mine litecoins unregistered? on: June 09, 2013, 06:35:29 PM
http://harvestcoin.com/ is another pool where you don't need to register.

well, mining unregistered is nice and easy, every noob can do it. So if you have writen some software you can ask people to mine for you for a short time if they like your software. This is getting you more in return than asking for a small donation of real money. Another good thing is that you don't have to go to the pool site to see how much coins you have mined and if it's over the limit for checkout. The pool is sending your mined coins automaticaly to your wallet.
