201  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Genesis-mining.com || World's first large scale multi-algo cloudmining company on: August 30, 2014, 03:17:15 PM
Longer contracts make sense IF you buy massive loads of hashrate. For most of us 1 year is the max, but if you have like 50TH/s then 2 years makes sense. The math for much larger amounts is different again.

Though, I'm not sure what to think of the prices. Even with 7% discount it seems like the total return is max 4/5 of the (BTC) investment. So, I wonder what GM was thinking when they started this adventure. There are some trends visible:
1 - Difficulty is high and most, nearly all miners currently for sale are too expensive (in purchase AND maintenance costs) for the amount of hashrate they offer.
2 - People spend their money/coins less easily, partially because of the number of scams, partially because they have become smarter and less greedy and are aware of the previous mentioned trend of hashrate versus costs.
3 - The difficulty increase seems to slow down, which might look good, but it's too early to trust. 5% average is a long way away still, and a drop will not happen within the next... year.
4 - ... Darn. As usual when I have several things in mind, as soon as start writing them down I forget one of them. I'll add it later, when I remember.

All in all I'm afraid that the current offering is not special enough to lead to good sales. Hopefully GM will be able to mine themselves a load of Bitcoins, so no fear of the future. But it still worries me. Companies like GM matter greatly, and I still might buy some hashrate purely to support them and the greater good they offer directly and indirectly.

On top of that another difficulty adjustment is coming within two days which will lift difficulty up another 13% or 14%, making this not the best of times to buy anyway. Since they didn't make it early this week, I actually thought GM was waiting for the beginning of next week, after difficulty adjustment. Guess I was wrong. Which I am, once or twice a year, but who's counting Grin
202  Local / Markt / Re: OP VOORRAAD! 3x 1 TH/S (1000 gh/s) Bitcoin miner AntMiner S2! on: August 29, 2014, 01:54:08 PM

203  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: August 28, 2014, 05:06:43 PM
rofl, you are the second person today suggesting such a scheme. Different but similar.

The thought of the top 5, or anyone really, not being people but "businesses" is interesting though. I wouldn't build my mining company solely on hashrate of others, unless it's a fully supported reseller sort of thing, but I might buy some hashrate as a sort of "insurance" against (partial) hashrate loss or some such crappy thing at my own site. For a smaller business that doesn't have it all, it might even make sense indeed.

205  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: August 28, 2014, 03:48:27 PM
Some people find it difficult to part with BTC0.01, others toss in a load of Bitcoins that makes my head spin, but to that one person it might feel the same. I can't imagine myself investing like 10K USD, but you want to know something stupid?! Add it all up what I've invested left and right and I might come to that amount. Whatever you are willing to spend, the feeling stays the same, but the amount simply grows or declines with you. And ponzi?! I don't think anyone buying 50K worth of hashrate got such a spendable amount by being careful and staying on the sidelines all the time.

As for the 4+ years, smaller amounts of hashrates are pretty much useless after a year as the payable amount is simply gets too low. With larger amounts like 50TH/s it takes like two years and a bit, but after that you'll reach the same thing. Though, the more you have, the longer it provides payable amounts. When considering that the difficulty increase seems to be declining slightly and I think that is the long term trend, profitability of hashrate may extend a bit more. At some point the Bitcoin network doesn't accept small payments anymore, but I forgot the number. Anyone know what the minimum payout amount is?
206  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Genesis-mining.com || World's first large scale multi-algo cloudmining company on: August 28, 2014, 11:51:57 AM
Profitability is a one day fly. There's a "better" coin every day and very few can be trusted enough to be profitable for longer periods, or even longer then a few hours. Megacoin hasn't been the most "profitable" coin for quite a while.
But, I've been with Megacoin since almost day 1. When it was first released it was one of the very very few scrypt coins that was based directly on Bitcoin code so not just another Litecoin clone. Since then it has grown quite a bit and has provided some code (KGW) that has been adopted by most of the coinworld to deal with massive difficulty changes. Meaning the dev (Kimoto) has made a difference already. It's one of the coins that can take care of itself. With the current fall of scrypt coins it's not hard to imagine that coins that cannot properly adapt to future needs will simply fade away. I rather think Megacoin is one of the few that will shine when things get rough. New, future proof adaptations are coming, though, in weeks? Months? Don't wait up for them as Kimoto follows his own visions and plans. I'm pretty curious about those myself.
Anyway, don't see Megacoin as "profitable" or as a nice coin to trade with Instead see it as one of those coins that has a longer past then most coins and a much longer life ahead. Stack up on some, and do the playing for profit with other coins.
207  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Genesis-mining.com || World's first large scale multi-algo cloudmining company on: August 27, 2014, 09:18:20 PM
How many coins Genesis-mining is allowing to mine? Just curious.
Actually.... Just one to start with: Bitcoin. Perhaps other SHA256 coins will be possible later.

Scrypt mining is another matter. As Abdullah001 said, like a dozen coins, from which you can pick Megacoin  Grin

Well, Kimoto occasionally posts his cryptic messages on the Megacoin forum: https://forum.megacoin.co.nz/index.php

I'm sure he will deliver, though be patient. He has a path laid out and what he envisions exactly... Dunno. He's waiting for certain events that will create the best possible opportunity for what he has in mind.
209  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: August 26, 2014, 12:30:49 PM
You can state your opinion, as long as it fits in with others Grin

Name calling is one of the ugly bits around these forums. I can say that I don;'t give a damn, but I still do in some way.

In the mean time, price has gone up once again, to BTC0.0033. Can't really say that I'm surprised, but it makes me wonder about the future. The next difficulty jump is estimated to be around 15%, Biomech's magic number (so far). Difficulty can not keep on growing as it was. Machines are getting too power hungry eventually, even for the Big Spenders. Next big milestone is power efficiency. Then we might see difficulty drops, but not before, I'm afraid. Even older equipment dropping out or moving to other coins will not bring difficulty down.

212  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] .0026 BTC per GH/s - 5 year contract **www.BitcoinCloudServices.com** on: August 25, 2014, 09:03:51 PM
Like I said, I can think of a lot a reasons for charging the prices they charge, BTC value is 100 dollars less then it was two or three weeks ago, so yeah, a price increase makes sense. I'm not mumbling about the price. But as Netwerked says, BCS consistently charges 0.001BTC/GH less than pbmining. If PBM drops price, so does BCS, if PBM does it again, so does BCS, if PBM does nothing, so does BCS, and now, if PBM raises prices, so does BCS. Okay, let's face it, PBMining is doing quite well, so if you see a way to do something similar, who can blame you. No argument there from me either. By staying below prices of competitors, if you can afford that, be my guest. But Gabriel has already said they are no copycat, so really, if you want develop your own brand, at some point you got to stop looking at the competition and mirroring their actions, or it will never happen. BCS is growing, the name is catching on. Quite a few things ar better then PBM. Though, PBM's magic formula('s) to calculate all, prices, payouts, difficulty weighing in, I think it's quite a brilliant piece of math. Not sure if BCS is up the same level of that, perhaps not and that could explain why they still follow the leader.

Anyway, it's just me... mumbling. Though, in the long run, things like that could start to work against you. That's what I'm worried about. On the other hand, it's the first working day after my vacation, so, yeah, I'm somewhat down anyway. Got so much to do, and the time all this obligatory work stuff eats up is just too much  Wink
213  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] .0026 BTC per GH/s - 5 year contract **www.BitcoinCloudServices.com** on: August 25, 2014, 11:33:16 AM
Price went up to 0.0030. So yeah, I can imagine a lot of good reasons, but this is following PBMining's pricing way too exact. BCS is big enough to stand on it's own feet, I would think Sad
214  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: August 24, 2014, 03:57:04 PM
Interesting move from PBMining to raise the price  Smiley

And btw, I haven't had any issues with scrypt.cc since I joined them in February, aside from some bugs and damn slow support the last months. Just... they are fully driven by the market and the market has been going down slowly but surely since May, so that shouldn't be a surprise.

The developer is still active and is about to release some major updates. He's been planning that for a while though, but he's waiting for the perfect time as timing is everything apparently.

Megacoin didn't fall, it's getting ready for the next jump

Genesis Mining is to become world's first multi-algo cloudmining company!
It is what I was waiting for, but honestly, not in this seperated form, so, kinda disappointed. What I was hoping for was a dual package. Scrypt and SHA256 mining in one go. Packages, of like 5MH/s scrypt power (pick any coin to mine) combined with like 100GH/s SHA256 (also pick any coin to mine). Or rather... since I don't believe mining hashrate people have is actually linked to specific hardware, all is done by simple math. Step of the whole "cloud mining" thing, and step into "cloud sharing". Instead of making it look like people rent a piece of scrypt hardware or a piece of sha256 hardware, just let people rent 1 share that contains a piece of both. THAT was what I was expecting, the 2015 approach, this is soooo 2014 Wink
This seems... like two fully separated clouds, nothing linking them other then GM's good reputation and service. And no choice in which SHA256 coin to mine, right?!

Also... the promo codes some of us are using to promote GM, can they be used for SHA256 services as well?

I was about to wonder when the new hardware would be available.

But... what I also wonder about, the minimum Ghs amount has changed again. Now 50 Ghs. The why of an increase I can imagine, but what is the number based on? Why is it 50 and not 25, or 35? What's the thought behind the minimum amount?
