speed of b15 seems at least on par with b14

205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, CLIENT UPDATE v0.8.7 AVAILABLE on: April 26, 2014, 09:53:38 PM
well, most people  including me do not have access to university resources Wink
With my normal one socket i5-4670 and 8GB RAM
running fastrie/xptMiner/xptminer -s 700000000 -t 4
it says
[00:08:40] 2ch/s: 28.6247 3ch/s: 1.8826 4ch/s: 0.0630 Shares total: 8 / 8
with b15 - and
[00:08:40] 2ch/s: 29.2391 3ch/s: 1.8196 4ch/s: 0.0630 Shares total: 8 / 8

the difference seems small, but using bigger sieve sizes it is worse.

I understand only 4ch matters, I try to let it run for longer with sieve 19e8 and post the result.

Also regarding diff - It is around 1700 now- but I can hardly force it to be the same Wink
It may be nice to display better metrics not 2ch/s ... but with diff correction as well ...
e.g. if we have X [2ch/s ] use something like X * math.e ** (1.0*diff / 1e4) [2ch*b/s]
just wild guess Wink
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, CLIENT UPDATE v0.8.7 AVAILABLE on: April 26, 2014, 08:45:46 PM
hi, Dave, thanks a lot for updated miner !
I tested b15 compiled on Linux, but it seems to be slower than b14. it says using 4+1 cpu threads - is that right ?
I tested different sieve sizes, but after couple minutes, everything was slower than b14 ... any idea what shall I try ?

208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Primecoin GPU miner: 1.2 chains (6.7 XPMs) / day on: April 02, 2014, 11:05:14 PM
Hi, PrimeGPU, thanks for your answer about Nvidia, but I mentioned specifically CUDA - everybody knows, that Nvidia promotes their stuff and punishes others (OpenCL).
I take it as a given (although sad) you are not interested in technology every supercomputing centre (worth mentioning) uses.

To add some recent info : ... scrypt ... But the Maxwell architecture's improvements allow the 60 W GeForce GTX 750 Ti to outperform the 140 W GeForce GTX 660 and approach AMD's 150 W Radeon R7 265, which just launched, still isn't available yet, but is expected to sell for the same $150. On a scale of performance (in kH/s) per watt, that puts Nvidia way out ahead of AMD. Today, four GM107-based cards in a mining rig should be able to outperform a Radeon R9 290X for less money, using less power.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-750-ti-review,3750-17.html

The good thing is that I can take it as a challenge to make a better miner - using CUDA + 750ti Wink
Anybody interested in testing ?
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Primecoin GPU miner: 1.2 chains (6.7 XPMs) / day on: April 02, 2014, 12:38:53 PM
it does not - and although I asked why ( e.g. here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=548230.msg6031104#msg6031104 ),
devs don't care to answer ... feels like they are hiding something ...
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Primecoin GPU miner: 1.2 chains (6.7 XPMs) / day on: April 02, 2014, 09:43:49 AM
Hi again, is there any reason in particular not to use Nvidia GPU ? They have better drivers (during past 15 years), they have better sdk (through past 6 + years afaik), yes, they are a bit more expensive, but the performance was always superior to AMD. There must be a reason, NVDA has market capitalisation more than 10B USD while AMD humbles at around 3B. Somebody mentioned that AMD has 1.4 x 32 bit mul throughput - is that the reason ? CUDA is better than ocl and it works on Linux and Win as well. I believe weak sha (former) support is not the reason here....  Any thoughts ?
Thanks for reply.

I am sorry to hear Nvidia is not supported.
Is there any hardware or architectural problem ?
212  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 0.9.0rc2 is available for testing [Changelog] on: March 06, 2014, 07:18:14 AM
compiled and started fine on ARM / rk3188
full logs enabled, ETA to fill disk and crash about 2 weeks,
miners can be tested here : http://aamarket.eu:9332
Thanks for the great work !

213  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin low power personal server / wallet with https payment interface on: February 16, 2014, 08:36:53 AM
Device power consumption is around 5W, it's cheap to run,
helps the decentralization of bitcoin.

2GB RAM mostly unused, 8GB FLASH unused as everything is on SD card (internal FLASH can do 300 MB/s, external SD only 10MB/s)
214  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2Pool Server List on: February 16, 2014, 08:31:12 AM
I am running p2pool for couple years, now it's on a new hardware, ARM quad core chip,
power consumption around 5W, anybody is welcome to test here :

http://aamarket.eu:9332

it's a bit less responsive than before with Intel i3 (p2pool info says 1.4 sec against 0.1 before).
Any idea is welcome.
You can check my latest project here

I think the whole bitcoin community can benefit largely from this.
Good luck to everybody !
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple removing last bitcoin wallet from AppStore Survey on: February 10, 2014, 12:08:57 PM
Hi all, is there any special reason for having native wallet app ?

I thought open source bitcoin server wallet with www interface in your own possession
would be a better choice, because you do not need to install 3rd party apps, just use
standard web browser in your xx phone.

So nobody is interested in that ?

219  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin low power personal server / wallet with https payment interface on: February 09, 2014, 07:13:30 PM
Hi all bitcoiners, just heard about removing blockchain wallet app from iTunes,
so somebody may be interested in my little project.
I am running successfully reference bitcoind and p2pool clients for couple months now.
Hardware used is Rockchip rk3188 device with 32GB SD card. No mining device is connected,
but can be easily. Runs Ubuntu 14.04 in one case, Fedora in another, bitcoind crashes about once in 2 weeks,
when full verbose logs fill all disk space. Otherwise its rock stable.

The unfinished part of the project is HTTP interface, so you can have access to your "working" wallet (be careful and store most of your money in cold storage).
I believe if you can access to your bank through HTTPS - it can be safe to assume it's good for bitcoin wallet as well.

Is anybody interested ?

Any ideas to share ?

Thanks a lot for consideration.
Good luck to all !
P.S. you can see p2pool running here : aamarket.eu:9332

thanks to all!
bitcoind seems to be running fine on rk3188 ARM with latest p2pool, compilation failed with Fedora 19x64,will try later.
great work !
