201  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can you ride a horse on public roads? on: July 01, 2014, 12:57:49 PM
I feel like you oughta be able to, is there any laws against this?

Yes we have horses on the road all over the UK.  I think you are supposed to wear a high viability vest?  I would assume legally you cant have horses on high speed limit roads.

Yes, you cannot ride horses on restricted roads like motorways.
Horses are allowed on normal highways.

This is KfC own t's and c's; therefore It would be up to KfC to vet every customer and prove that they have done ample due diligence to assure they haven't sold to any residential customer. Methinks they would fall flat on their face in this matter.

Why?
By agreeing to the T&C you have stated to them that you are a business customer. Why should they have to investigate whether you were lying?

Because they made the invoices and they received the money from private persons, not from a business.

The question is why to they need to investigate your lie?

because it is their terms and conditions

1.2   The Products are sold for business use only and Purchaser hereby accepts that it has purchased the Products in order to conduct a business.

Did you agree to that or not?
A private individual can conduct a business, and doesn't need a VAT number if they don't choose to reclaim VAT.
The only use for a Bitcoin miner is to make money, which sounds like a business activity?

No; KfC did not place any reasonable restrictions on sales to combat the purchase of the product by individuals and; no, mining bitcoin is not a business activity - it is not subject to the same tax laws as my businesses are.

They have no need to prevent sales to individuals, as individuals can conduct a business.
They don't say that they will only sell to organisations, to to business with VAT numbers, or anything else.
The only restriction is on the agreed intent of the purchaser: 'to conduct a business'. Only the purchaser can know their intent.

The T&Cs are clearly designed to restrict your rights. This has been the case right back from the start with the first miners they sold. This was pointed out several times.
People signed up anyway. Their choice.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me?

It may well be that you could eventually win a court case overturning parts of their T&Cs. But noone is ever going to spend the time and money to do that, and both they and you know that.

Alternatively, you weren't lying, and did intend to buy for business purposes, in which case why should you be able to change your mind now?
You signed up to crappy T&C. You knew they were crappy at the time.
You knew KNC have shafted people on refunds before, and delivered late before.

Neptune's arrived about five minutes ago - Batch#1 order paid for on the 26th November.

I'll let you guys know how they perform! Even though they are late (very late) I am a bit excited :-D

If it is preconfigured with any pool details I will let everyone know.

Coins per 24h at these conditions 0.1121 BTC
How much did you spend on it

In total 13 BTC at $900 per BTC (inc. shipping / taxes).

I've already bought back the 13 BTC at $500, I'm expecting the miner to ROI around 6 months on its own BTC investment but I also enjoy mining and it opens up opportunities for getting some returns on alt's from time to time.

Sorry but you wont make a roi in 6 months, the next difficulty jump is 13 to 17 so how do you work out 6 months to return your money?
agreed...but...
it's already nearly 30% with 4 and 1/2 days to go....     how'd you get 13 to 17?

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty
clearly says 28.8

Estimated Next Difficulty:   17,351,720,663 (+28.89%)

the 28.89 is the change from 13 to 17 is how much in percentage
no, 28.89 means the estimated next diffchange is upping by at least 28.9%, period....
soon to be higher
I have no clue where you are calculating this 13-17%?

He never said 13-17%.
He is saying it will go from 13 billion to 17 billion.

Equipment is operating at 12V, which is below 50V....

This directive does not apply.

That must be why they don't provide power supplies, to avoid being within the AC rating.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 24, 2014, 10:44:50 AM
Anyone saying the Neptune boards need CE markings need to specify the relevant EU Directive.  If there is no relevant directive there is no need for a CE marking.

This one: http://www.ce-marking.org/what-product.html

3. Low Voltage Electrical Equipment
The "Electrical Equipment" means any equipment designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000 V for alternating current (A.C.) and between 75 and 1500 V for direct current (D.C.). Therefore, it is called often "Low Voltage Electrical Equipment" which includes the vast majority of electrical equipment in everyday use.

Hello
I have a question?
Is Neptune is marked with the CE mark and if so, what is the number?
Is it arrived Declaration of Conformity?
Please reply
Regards
Do people really care if mining devices are marked with various government codes or is it just trolling. Are some countries really that finicky about such things? I received some pretty dodgy shit in the US from foreign countries and have never had a single issue.

A point of the CE mark, in this case, would be to ensure that the device was electrically safe, and wouldn't overheat and melt the power connectors.
Seems like that would be useful, no?
210  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-16] GHASH.IO statement about the 51 % problem on: June 20, 2014, 10:41:43 AM
all FEAR is INSIDE YOU HEAD.... we dont give a F*CK , if ghash.io misbehaves it will lose its good name . and will be replaced by someone else we are noet DEPENEDENT obn ghash.io nor do they own all mining hardware its custumers  use Smiley
so do executing your fear , is suicide for ghash.io , they can do it but wont get them very far!

This is demonstrably false, because they have already misbehaved and yet now they are the largest mining pool.
Most people simply don't care, they just want to maximise their own profits in the short term.

Huh?
I've no idea. Why do you think I'm connected to Aircoin (which I don't think I've even heard of before)?

Was the double spend sucsessfull? if detected as double spend it was clearly not Smiley
attemting one is wrong but it failed because of the way bitcoin is setup.

Yes, they were successful, they confirmed the second transaction, thus cancelling the first. That is what a double-spend is.
This meant that they kept their winning bet transactions and revoked their losing bet transactions.
214  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-16] GHASH.IO statement about the 51 % problem on: June 18, 2014, 08:18:41 PM
Do you think that [double-spend attack against BetCoin] makes GHash dishonest?

Iits dumb of betcoin to accept transactions of les then 6 confirmation
, honisty does not exsits in the financhial world that's why we have a system as bitcoin
to rule out human temptation by code ruling.
Wolfs of wallstreet anyone? Smiley

You really can't answer the question, can you?
No point continuing the discussion then.

its very simple a ,miner can NEVER do 7 blocks in a row.
see rule 13 http://btc-base.blogspot.sk/2014/01/bitcoin-transactions-why-it-is.html

That doesn't say anything about a single miner producing 7 blocks in a row.
(And nor could it, as each node has no way of knowing which miner actually produced a block, unless the miner chooses to leave evidence behind.)

Edit: GHash mining 8 blocks in a row:

7 blocks is the inital transactions + 6 confirmations
at best ghash.io can do the double spend + 5 confirmations... the 6thx (block 7) has to be done by somone else.
if thats not done the transaction will fial back to zero!
so its that simple , one miner can max do 6 blocks in a row , thats 5 confirmations , and thats why you need at least 6 confirmations (7 blocks) to be save because the 7th block can never be done by the same miner. , its so very simple Smiley

Do you think that [double-spend attack against BetCoin] makes GHash dishonest?
217  Other / Politics & Society / Re: updated 20 hbn bounty for pointing out logic mistakes on this thread. on: June 18, 2014, 07:59:50 PM
It is fair to assume that news articles would contain that information if it were used at trial.

No, it isn't.
Trials are days after days of evidence.
A news article is a couple of paragraphs. They can't possibly include all of the evidence that was given.

1. Why a foreign country would allow a trial in the US when litigating against a US hedge fund is beyond me.

Because their credit rating was so bad the only way they could sell bonds was to agree to forgo sovereign immunity and agree to settle any disputes in the US court system.

FACT is that if ghash.io did not confirm the transaction oher miner would had done!
so it does not make any sense to do this as ghash.io .

They did it.

Quote
if they block a transaction some other miner will handle it and will be the fastest.

If they solve a block including the second transaction, the first transaction will never be confirmed by anyone, because the shared inputs will have already been spent.
And the more %age of hashing power they control, the more chance they have of doing this.
well yes bit this is why you need 6 confirmations!!!!!!!!!
