Ahh, soo many blocks in such a short time -- we tricking the network to make it look like 135 PH's  And I was thinking someone had a private server and testing some A9's or something :-)

Hey guys can anyone please tell me what is the HS code for the Bitmain APW++ power supply for me to be able to import into USA?  I want to buy 26 units but I don’t know the HS code.  Huh

Thanks!

Anyone?

OK, I found a DHL Brokerage form,  Listed as Power Supplies Other  Classification 8504.40.90.93     UM: NMB      VFD Code: 13     Rate of customs Duty 0.0%    Value for duty  134.95
Mine was listed under LVS Casual under Business number, But I only had one on this order.

Other info may be useful:

I have only dealt with S9's soo this thing is new to me, and even the algo's.

What is the proposed Roi that people are using.  i understand that it all  matters on how many are manufactured or sent etc..  but just to get some basic idea.  The low power draw is a huge one for me.

What is the approximate income of the Giant B?  I have just heard of them, and was looking around to see what it can make.  I have seen on nicehash.com that it is around 13000 Cnd Dollars per month?  Is this an error or is this accurate?

So I have been keeping an excel spreadsheet with all my math with payments, My N Average etc..  Fancy little excel sheet I have.

I have to OFFCIALLY confirm that KANO is the best paying.    The per day rate I have calculated for a 13.5 Th/s S9 is   .002465   ( if i use 14 th i get .002556 per day, I only have 1 14th and 4 13.5 th s9's)

I have based this on 34 days of mining, from the evening of Dec 10, 2017 until the evening of Jan 13, 2018.

Other pools were paying .0019 to .0022.  Even nice hash wasn't higher.  I initially thought they would be, and it was razor thin margin.  HOWEVER you get the upside of luck here as we seen in the last few days.

Basically my excel sheet calculated by taking my N Average which is my participation in the 5nD and I divided my BTC payout by that to get a BTC/ 1 Th/s  Then Used that and multiplied it by 13.5.
I continued to add each reward to my list and totaled the amount of BTC awarded and then divided by the number of days at the point in time that I was interested, eg after a block was found.

So for anyone that actually disputes this to be true about Kanopool and the benefit of it,      YOU ARE WRONG.

***  OH YEAH! AS an ADDED bonus, my excel file calculated based on what I was payed from Kano, which was after the fees.  The other number i gave you  .0019-.0022 were the other pools before the fees, like Nice hash upping theirs to 5%?!?!?!?! WTF I might even remove my 1 GPU miner off their just because of that, but I still have .0045 with them over the last.....  too long to remember, don't want to lose it.

Note: I did have a 3 hour period where my miners were not mining due to a technical issue in the last 5nd time frame.  3 hours wont be much but still affects the total payout.
Note2: I was just fully ramped up with all my 5 S9's, the difficulty went up, so the last 2 blocks made the 5nd start just before when I added the last 4 s9's  IE the payout would actually be bigger by a bit ( too lazy to calculate it that accurately
Where is the next block? :-)

So I am out in the country in Wisconsin with 140 acres of land, 12 pairs of fiber coming to my house (I currently have dedicated 50/50mb business service through ATT at a grand per month for my home business), a single phase 320kva transformer (in-ground wiring) with a 200A panel in my house and another mostly empty 200A panel in an "outhouse" that just protects the panel.  I was going to build a barn and needed to revise the budget when we built years ago. I have a small (20x40ft?) non insulated metal shed with concrete floor about 50 feet beyond that with a 60Amp panel that is mostly unused.  Super easy to get the full 200 Amps into that building.  My son grabbed about 10 full size server racks that he cannot give away (7.5 foot tall).  I had the thought of building a small building around my outhouse that was specifically designed for miners, but by the time I am done it probably would be 30k+.  So another option is to figure out how to retrofit the shed.  Obviously 200 amps will not do a ton of S9's, so no matter what, it is a small scale operation.  I also had the thought of putting up solar panels and we even have hills to put up a wind turbine - although we are only a couple miles from the interstate where planes follow, so probably some issues getting permits for a full size one.  Again, a big investment when mining may disappear in a couple years?  Anyway, if interested in discussing, feel free to PM me and I'll get you my contact info.  Or you email me through the minergain site links.

As a resident of The Cheddar Curtain, your specs don't match reality here, or North.

AT&T doesn't run "12 pairs of fiber coming to my house"...

Also, "a single phase 320kva transformer (in-ground wiring)" makes no sense, in a Electric Utility context for a Single Family Home.

THEN, there's "we even have hills to put up a wind turbine - although we are only a couple miles from the interstate where planes follow"...

WHAT do hills have to do with wind turbines and last I checked, as a pilot, we navigate using charts and coordinates, NOT by following "the interstate"?

Here's a thought. Put Solar Panels on your "140 acres of land", let your mining gear warm up the "non insulated shed" this Winter and MINE ON.

I laugh when I read this stuff.

Telco's put in 24 fibre becuase it is the smallest they have as a cable.  They treated it as commercial becuase it was not on a residential street with multiple houses.  The commerical ALWAYS gets 24 fibre, and they use 1.  The cost you wrote before 1000?  I think you getting robbed. I can get 150/150 symetrical for 100-125 cnd.

As for the SIZE of your transfromer...  it may be a 320 KVA   Is it a nice big green box about 4x4 feet? or is it a small round one and is probably 32.0 KVA?  Becuase  the 25 KVA one I have behind my house also powers about 12 homes.  Granted you said the guy asked for more power at that location, so it may be that big.

As for the wind turbine agruing going on that if planes follow the interstate... umm, well, not for IFR ( instrument flight rules) but for VFR ( Visual Flight rules) they may indeed use that as the VFR corridor.  They may in fact have zoning regulations if they are near an airport for max height.  I have one on my land titles, and the other DUMB one, Is there has to be a certain amount of insulation in the attic - to quiet down the sound of the planes.  So YES a tall turbine with blades that reach 500 feet above the ground and more than the surrounding ground level around the turbine may in fact be an issue....  it all comes down to if the guy giving the permit does his job and goes OH  flight path, and then does what he needs to do.

SO, yes, please do not argue points that you do not understand fully.  The OP just merley said that he had an oppurtunity and space to put in more miners.  Judging by the number of panels and service that may be there, I would think that it is mostly accurate, but doesnt warrnet an attack on him for what he posted,  just move to the next post..  arguing about if aircraft use roads as routes.... yes... they do, you will see this in mountain passes for VFR routes.  LEARN THEN COMPLAIN.

Well I guess the problem is keeping the offline wallet up-to-date.
My solution is that I have one bitcoin at home that talks to the internet and of course has no wallet, then 4 others that only talk to that one - 2 being wallets also - the other 2 as backups to the main one if it dies and needs rebuilding ... which it has more than once ... rebuild by copy is so much faster Smiley
So while they are never offline except when I shut them down for some reason, I have the network such that the wallets can't talk to to the internet at all except when I temporarily open port 80 outgoing, for them to do linux updates.
Of course it requires more computers, but I guess it just depends on how much BTC you're trying to secure.
There's of course more to it than that, but that's the basic idea.

And if Kano is doing all that for one bitcoin......  :-)  hahaah    I wish I had one...  it would pay for my hardware.
so posting my 12 secret words on my website's home page for me to easily find them probably isn't a good idea?  I thought in plain sight was the best!  hmmmm...

How often do you clean out your S9?

I have had one running since Nov 21, and the 4 others since Dec 27...
Should I give them a good scrub down with soap and water? :-)
Toothbrush between the heatsinks?

Or just blow them out with compressed air?

I have never seen or heard what is recommended for maintenance on these, so I thought I would ask here.

I have some space if anyone wants to be crazy and pay 50%  hahaah  Actually, I can do it for less.  But if you are WILLING to pay 50%  I'll take that too. I actually know a guy who is doing it for 10 %.

ahhh  Looks like the must of put that Nov firmware on in the last little bit.  I checked like a week ago, and it was an older one.  Thanks.

Time for upgrades....

FYI For people asking about temps, and the ramping of the fan...

I read almost all of the posts about these chip temps.  for one there is a temp sensor for CHIP on each board, then there is also a BOARD temp on each board.  The S9 firmware forsome reason does nto show you the board temp, only the 3 hash board temps.  Awesome miner will show you both, under the SUMMARY Tab will show you CHIP temps at the bottom  eg 75/76/78.  on the ASIC tab of that miner you will see a column for Temp, and this is the Board temp, not chip temp.  It will usually be lower, mine run 20-24 deg C Colder than the chips.

The fan ramping up and down isnt a problem, its the indication that there is a problem... its too hot, and then it cools itself down and then fan slows again, and warms up.  Bad coding in my opinion.  I wish I could manually specify a minimum speed so that it is slightly faster than where it falls back to so that dump ramping is stopped.

The issue is that if the unit runs hotter, the life expectancy is shortened.  And since parts and the s9's are hard to get, its in your best interest to keep them happy with plenty of cool air and lots of power.

Yes, the first Chain, 6 i believe is ALWAYS warmer, and ALWAYS has more hardware errors.  Don't know why, but my 5 do the exact same thing.  Even though they have different fans on 2 of them.  Them Yellow fans that I think are the original are nice, but they have a certain hum to them that sounds like a bad bearing, it almost seems like different tones are played from them.  THAT is what I find annoying.  But, I keep telling myself.....

That's the sound of money....
217  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30+PH] KanoPool kano.is BEST 0.9% fee PPLNS US,DE,JP,NL,NYA 🐈 on: January 11, 2018, 07:22:23 PM
Any info on problems with fan speeds on the s9? Got 3 hooked up today, been running 4.5hours now, and one of them likes to ramp up the fans to 6k rpm even though the temps are fine. Maybe a bad firmware? Also one of them is throwing .266% invalid/stale shares but this is below the pool avg so from what I understand thats pretty normal and will level out as I complete the ramp up period. Thanks for the help

I have one that goes from 4k to 6k every few minutes - or at least it did when it was SLIGHTLY warmer than it is now.   (I mean by 2-4 degrees)  I upgraded to "File System Version   Fri Nov 17 17:57:49 CST 2017" in hopes of it correcting, but it didn't.

The highest chip temp is currently 76 and it no longer ramps up and down - however, I have no doubt that when the temps get back up to 78 it will resume the up and down.

What is your highest chip temp on your S9 that is spinning at 6k?
Where did you get the Nov 17 2017 version,  all I saw was aug on bitmains site...

Take a look at these guys who just found a block.  Same pool size, but so few blocks all year.. 1 or 2 a month!

219  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30+PH] KanoPool kano.is BEST 0.9% fee PPLNS US,DE,JP,NL,NYA 🐈 on: January 11, 2018, 05:54:19 AM
At ambient 21.0 Deg the 14TH used about 1520 watts ( with meter plugged inline )  Moved the 14TH to garage where ambient was 4.7 Deg, power use went up to 1585 Watts ( All on 120 Volt )  I then tested this on 240 volt in the garage, was about 1565 watt.
Chip temps were at about 56-62 when was in the garage.  In the house was 68-73.

All I did was cover the inlet for a bit until the chip temp climbed up to 66-67 or so and then literally in a flash the power dropped to 1420 Watts.  It happened so fast I was thinking I was reading it wrong.  I re did the same thing 2 more times and exact same thing happened.  The big drop in usage once the chip temps got up to around 67.  Intrigued, I tried it also on 120 Volt, and the same big change happened.

The first time this happened the antminer was running for about 10 minutes, so it would of had time to warm up, bu the chip temp was still low.  My goal was to keep them as cool as possible, so I was always refreshing the page to watch the temp.  Oddly enough once the intentional slowing of air, and forced increase in chip temp, they did not go back down to the 56-62, but stayed somewhere in the middle like around 62-64  and this stayed like that until the inside of the building heated up and the chip temps went up a bit, but that's was hours later, with only the 1 S9 running at the time.

So I guess technically it still had the low inlet temp, but something was causing it to use a lot more power until the forced warm up of the chips.  SO that is why my project I posted was thought of, a way to control the inlet temp...  and it is very ambitious for a guy who doesn't know anything about programming.

Note:  The Watt usage in the garage climbed slowly as the inside temp got warmer, it ended up being about 1460 Watt when the garage was at 13 deg.  So they do use more power when inlet is warmer, but too cold isnt good either.  So those guy s that take ice cold outside winter air and cool their s9, may be costing them more, and cuasing more damage.

My theory is that the chips themselves are cold, they dont work as quick, and require more energy.  The TH/s rate was very close to the same though.

220  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30+PH] KanoPool kano.is BEST 0.9% fee PPLNS US,DE,JP,NL,NYA 🐈 on: January 11, 2018, 05:24:29 AM
Kano, do you know python scripting?  :-)

I'm working on a raspberry pi to do various things with my cooling of the s9's. Like monitor inlet air temp from outside, and mix with warmer air either re-circulated or from within the building, by the use of a servo motor to adjust the position of a flap, to maintain a constant inlet temp.  I found if you put in way too cold of air the antminers actually use more power.

The system will monitor each outlet air temp of the antminers with DS1820B sensors, 1 wire technology, and will adjust the external fan system to either go faster or slower in increments.  The system will also be used in the winter to heat the bulding they are in, by diverting the hot exhaust air to the inside, but then move a servo to close the door to put air outside.  Idealy, just to make it fun for programing, to actually calculate how often the "heat the building" is used and actually position the servo motor accordingly so that the heat loss is replaced as its being lost.  Fancy algorithm here required :-)

Would also like it to monitor humidity, and possible water entry into inlet, by rain etc, so that there can be an alert sent, or even divert the intake to the interior of the building if there sense a problem.

I am sure, as I start doing this I can come up with more neat ideas...

So yeah, I was just wondering, are you free this weekend? :-)

p.s I LITERALLY have no experience programming.  thought I would throw that in there now that I got your interest! haha.  Took my 5 hours just to get some script i copied off the internet to read the temp on 1 sensor ( that was the easy part) then to send the email alert if it got too hot.  Off to a good start!  I can enable SSH access to the pi3 if you want to start on it tonight? haha :-)

We can sell these things!
