201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tor+Blockchain wallet hacked? 633 btc loss on: October 18, 2014, 07:59:53 PM

Why was he ever storing that much in an online wallet like blockchain.info to begin with?  If you have that much money, at least throw a BTC or two to someone technical who can guide you through how to best store it.
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Doctors Without Borders accept the BTC to fight against Ebora on: October 17, 2014, 04:55:52 PM

I smell scam.  It's nowhere on the Doctors Without Borders website.

If anyone does actually donate, make sure to contact Doctors Without Borders first, and ask them if they support that campaign.
203  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's up (with BTC price?) on: October 09, 2014, 05:40:02 PM

I think it had to do with that 30,000 BTC sell order that completely flat lined the price @ $300 for 6 hours, while it was eaten up.  At that point, people decided $300 was the bottom, and began buying again.
204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lifeguard just in case you mess up sending BTC transaction on: October 07, 2014, 09:06:31 PM

If it helps any, the Envrin Web Wallet has a delayed sends feature (see sig).

205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wow the newest bitcoin deterrer on: October 07, 2014, 10:08:22 AM
If anyone would like to, they're welcome to send me some money, and in exchange, I promise I won't kill you.

206  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin crashes below $300 due to monetary penalties implemented by the Russian on: October 06, 2014, 04:14:07 PM
Ummm, little late for that news.  It's back up to $340 at the moment. Smiley
207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sell me on using Western Union on: October 06, 2014, 02:41:50 PM
Let's see, this is going to be a tough decision here:

Western Union

  • Search out the closest Western Union office to me, and head into town.
  • Wait 10 minutes for clerk to appear
  • Fill out form with full contact information of myself, and the recipient of the money
  • Provide photo ID such as passport
  • Pay around $530 to send $500
  • Wait 15 minutes for clerk to process everything
  • Come home, and inform recipient of MTCN#, my name & country.  Recipient then must do same steps as above, except instead of paying $530, they get $500 in cash.

Bitcoin

  • Ask recipient for bitcoin address.  Relax in my comfy computer chair at home while waiting.
  • Login to wallet, and send funds.  Takes about 20 seconds.
  • Pay $500.04 to send $500.
  • Recipient has money confirmed within say 30 mins, and can easily cash out in a multitude of ways, whichever suits them best.  For example, via localbitcoins I can turn BTC into cash within my hand within an hour tops.

Geez, tough decision.  Not sure which I should go with. Smiley
208  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the price is keep going down? on: October 05, 2014, 10:28:34 AM
I don't know about you guys, but I view this price drop as a huge opportunity to haul ass at work, and collect as many bitcoin as I possibly can.  Find some work you can do, charge at a USD rate, and ask to be paid in BTC.  You'll be getting paid almost double the BTC as you would have two months ago, so when it does start going up again, you'll hopefully have a nice little collection stashed.

Why do You Trust Bitcoin

Simple.  Because I trust myself more than the govt or banks.  It's my money, and it's nobody else's business how much I have, how much I make, or where I spend it.  I don't like the idea of every financial transaction I've ever made being on record, and available to a dozen or so entities.  Not to mention having my entire savings in the line of fire, and capable of being seized at the whim of an official.  I also don't like having to basically ask permission from the bank to spend my own money, or send money to another account, etc.  With bitcoin, if I want to move to another country, I can do just that without worrying about how to transfer my money over to my new home.

Thanks, but no thanks.  With bitcoin, all I have to worry about is hackers, which isn't difficult if you know what you're doing.

210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ideas for Bitcoin and credit card company on: October 04, 2014, 08:06:23 AM

Personally, I'd say it's more of a marketing play than anything nowadays, as all the necessary functionality is already in place.  I think you're right in not focusing on being a standard "spend your BTC anywhere" card that competes with the likes of Xapo and others.

For example, maybe concentrate on remittances, and easy funds distribution.  For example, hand out debit cards to people.  Then allow certain users to link their bank accounts to the system, and easily distribute funds to the cards.  So they can login, they'll already have the card#s of people they want to pay (preferably already saved in system), then they just specify $800 to this card, $1300 to that card, etc.  Funds come out of the user's bank account, are instantly flipped into BTC, and put on the cardholder's cards.

211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can the consumer save money? on: October 03, 2014, 08:39:07 PM
Because not everyone is like you. They struggle with money and they are not so smart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0RH0cYs4lw

Ummm, ok...  first...  that's from CNNN (notice the extra N).  It's an Australian Comedy Show called The Chasers.

Anyway, why not?  Get paid in BTC, pay 30% of your bills off right away, and pull the rest out in fiat.  That means 30% of your income is now essentially tax free.  You can't tell me your average person can't handle that.

212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can the consumer save money? on: October 03, 2014, 08:17:17 PM

a) Help people convince their employers to begin paying them in BTC, and ensure streamlined processes are in place to do so.

Really!!?? You think most people will accept BTC as wages even with all the volatility and no incentives? First give them the incentives then they will start asking for BTC wages. Don't put the cart before the horse. The effect before the cause.

Why not?  It's what I do.  I haven't been paid in anything except BTC for about 2 years now.

Of course I don't enjoy the current price decrease, but nor am I worried about it, as historically the price has always increased long-term, and I have every reason to believe that will continue in the long-term.  I charge in USD, make more than I need each month to cover living expenses, and the rest stays in BTC.  When an invoice payment comes in, I pay as many bills in BTC as I can with it, transfer out what I need in fiat to cover living, and the rest sits there in savings.

I don't know, but works great.
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does BTC cause so much controversy even with friends and family? on: October 03, 2014, 03:37:46 PM

My family just gives somewhat of a "whatever, Envrin" laugh, and thinks I'm doing something naughty.

That's their judgement, and they're sticking to it!  heh.
214  Economy / Lending / Re: Offering BTC loans [no collateral] on: October 01, 2014, 04:45:40 PM

If you don't mind me asking, why are you doing this?  Is it for the profit?  You seem to have a decent amount in the bank, and from what I've seen in this thread, the profit you're generating can't possibly be worth the time you're putting into it.  Am I maybe wrong?

215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1 satoshi (0.00000001) Deposits on: October 01, 2014, 04:40:47 PM
It's just more of a nuisance than anything.

No.  It inflates the size of the transaction when you process a send, possibly increasing your tx fee.  Shouldn't the miners be disallowing these 1 satoshi transactions?  Why are they even being allowed in the first place?  I thought "dust" was rejected?
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The transaction fee is just ridiculous. on: September 30, 2014, 09:30:26 AM
the cost of sending the occasional small amount is bullshit !
and i don't want to hear any excuses about it bloating the block chain or something.
if sending around small amounts is a problem then fix it .

Fix what?  The tx fee helps cover resources, not the amount you're sending.  It takes the EXACT same amount of resources to send 500 BTC versus 0.0002 BTC, so why should the tx fee be any different?

217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The transaction fee is just ridiculous. on: September 30, 2014, 06:30:47 AM

I'm with ya.  I mean, having to pay $0.04 to send a $20,000 wire instantly from the convenience of your home, without any banks, forms or questions?  That's just ridiculous.

heh.
218  Economy / Lending / Re: Offering BTC loans [no collateral] on: September 29, 2014, 07:02:32 AM
What's wrong with you? I've ignored you for a reason. At least read the OP before you request.

1KT81EQPUqVEE29JnXCvcqerooQ1pb5oqi

I'll never understand that.  You guys are easy to pick out at casinos around the tables as well.  You can just see if from the look on their face, "well, there goes the mortgage, and now she's really going to leave me".

Very easy to spot right ?

Are you inferring me?  Ummm, no....
