Looking forward to your testing Phil

I'll have my 5 moved into permanent spots tomorrow.  They basically replaced the sp20's I had running

So now I'm all Avalon.. (4.1's and the 6's) aside from one s7 in the basement at home

ANTMINER S7 BATCH 7 - Sold Out - are FOR SALE!!!!

gone again

Seems like a few Batch 3 are available for 5.08 BTC. Someone must not have paid for their order.

https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201509290954354994vrQh8di06E6

thats weird.  but just looking at the price, wouldnt a batch 8 be better ?

Maybe Batch 3 is on hand and ready to ship because they were available for the orders that weren't shipped? Batch 7 and 8 won't arrive for about 1 month or more. So a Batch 3 arriving by the end of next week should be a better.

Guys you won't get a batch 3 order if you place your order now through that link.. Bitmain told me about this glitch and said look at the web URL and its date, and the shipping dates.  It's an error on their part as they forgot to take down the page.

i was wondering the same about batch 7 because when ordering it was named: "Batch 7-sold out"

Ya they were just lazy there and modded the text instead of pulling the page or taking down the buy link

I've noticed the avalon6 is so much quieter than my s7's

I have an s7 ducting the exhaust heat into my hvac vent to pipe heat upstairs. And the basement bedroom it's in is hard to be in

But I could easily replace it with the Avalon and be able to sleep in there

Although the sheer force of air is less on the Avalon so in this particular instance the s7 shall stay.. Till we have guests visit

Just picked mine up from oregonmines!  Matt drive over an hour to meet me halfway and seemed like a real cool guy.  The fact that these have direct factory warranty, oregonmines is local, and he was willing to drive out and meet me were big deciding factors
207  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d on: November 21, 2015, 05:00:31 PM
Yeah let us know.. I'm curious what kind of hashrate it can pull around 800-850-900 watts with just dropping frequency
208  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d on: November 21, 2015, 04:31:21 PM
So if you just lower freq it won't lower hashrate unless you also drop voltage? Or will it lower hashrate keeping same efficiency and lowering voltage is only way to gain better efficiency on underclock?

Trying to figure out if I can run these on my 900w 110v (1200w 220v) hp server psu's on 110 outlets

Also have a couple 1000w atx psu's laying around

So the price was raised on zoomhash but now comes with a pi

I wonder if they will honor my original price on the order they cancelled on me

On the S7's the answer was no.

Wow that's pretty shady for them to do.

I think I'll order with oregonmines since they are local. Albeit a bit more than zoomhash but I don't have to wait on shipping
210  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 6? Any owners out there? on: November 20, 2015, 06:01:10 AM
Pretty sure I'll be getting my units from oregonmines as they are local and their communication is spot on.  Hopefully I'll be able to grab them this weekend

So they canceled my order last night

Refunded my PayPal just an hour ago

PayPal says 3-5biz days for refund to clear back into my account

What a bunch of BS.. Wonder why zoomhash didn't just keep my order, now they want me to place my order again Friday to ship out Friday

Doesn't make any sense
213  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Avalon 6 - In Hand on: November 18, 2015, 04:54:17 AM
Where in Oregon? I'm in Portand would I be able to pick them up?
214  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: November 18, 2015, 04:52:45 AM
kilo17 has not contacted me.

i may order from zoomhash on weds.

Zoomhash cancelled my order and bob called me to say he had to cancel it since they are out of stock til Friday afternoon.

Said to redo my order on Friday

Sounds like they're just buying from the major distributor, why don't you buy from them direct?

Because they take PayPal, converting my PayPal into coins would be costly and a PITA

In my personal experience, I had just one return while selling bitcoin related items. I did not fight it and the item was returned in good shape.
re selling on btctalk-you are right, it is mostly useless for newer items, but OK for old or cheap stuff.

I sold a miner 1 time on ebay.  Will never try it again.  The buyer actually returned a different miner that had obviously been burned to hell.  It was completely destroyed and wasn't even the same board revision #.  I provided evidence to paypal showing the miner worked beforehand, showed evidence the miner that was returned was not the same miner that was sent, and tried to fight it.  They sided with the buyer (they always do) and I was out a miner and the $.  The kicker is that ebay/paypal even still took fees from me for ripping me off.  I can honestly say that I believe ebay is the absolute worst possible way to sell a miner and if it wasn't for how awful paypal is, I and many others probably wouldn't have even discovered Bitcoin in the first place.  If you haven't been stung by a scammer yet on ebay, you will.

i just sold some gear on ebay.. had a promo for $5 max final value fees and 30% off final value fees (whichever they decide to let me use)

buyer is located in another country but having me ship to an in country address (which is what shows on the paypal purchase details) and paypal shows that i am seller protected after they reviewed the payment.  buyer mentioned he does this to circumvent customs fees by having his friend ship the units to him (probably listing them as very little value on the customs docs)

I made sure to add signature confirmation and took pics of the units as i was packaging them up

crossing my fingers it goes well, the buyer literally bought up the majority of what i had listed FS for a big chunk of $ which was kind of odd but we'll see

One interesting thing to note about ROI is that for some reason bitcoin miners have an unreasonably high resell value on ebay.  So an S7 in hand today (or soon) doesn't have to mine the full value back if you can resell it and:

resell amount + mining returns > cost + expenses

Of course with the halving coming up there may actually be a glut of miners hitting the resell market next year some time so timing a sale might be part of the equation if you go that route.  But it's hard to predict what the halving will actually do.  I would have thought the LTC halving would increase the value of LCT but it didn't really.  If BTC follows the same pattern then mining will get much less profitable.

what is ebay return rate, i wonder? also, once you remove 13% fees, there is not much profit there either.
It seems that $400 level does not induce much fraud on ebay, but i don't know if $2000 does, especially since a buyer can make a mistake, then return for any reason at all.

theres options on your listing to select no returns.. also if you mention no returns in the listing as well thats twice being mentioned returns not offered.

can a buyer still return them after that?

So I have three S7 (two at the office one at home) and for the home unit I purchased one of the 3d printed fan adapters on eBay and using electricians tape I affixed it to a dryer vent that exhausts the hot air into the hvac ducting in my house.

Having it at 40% fan and in a spare basement bedroom/office it successfully ducts the heat upstairs to the three bedrooms above and it stays mid 50's to 60 temp with the cool basement temps

First pic is the printed adapter I borrowed off the eBay listing

So if I have a s7 running off a bedroom power outlet am I capping the circuit? I don't think the bedroom has its own circuit on the breaker box

Usually a bedroom has it's own circuit. As long as you are not drawing more than 1500watts total in the room, you should be fine.

Yeah all my lights are LED, only other thing is power ine Ethernet adapter
