201  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: July 17, 2014, 04:02:12 AM
Well I just claimed payment, hopefully I did it correctly.  Really wish I would have made a reference post so I would have to go through all my posts to count the ones I made this month. Then again, maybe that was the point, or I am missing something.

I hope I didn't claim a couple duplicate posts.  If you're reading this post Stunna, it was not intentional at all.

Just going to leave this here for reference, Final Post count for the July sig. campaign: 617
202  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you own a firearm? on: July 16, 2014, 02:13:07 AM

WOW! If I'm reading that correctly, thats a little over the top. So pretty much any knife with a sharp edge is considered a weapon to harm people.

Not just knives. A saw is also considered to have a cutting edge. Scissors have cutting edges... Those common items fall into category 4 I guess. So if you're caught "open carrying" a saw in an urban area without trees one could argue there is no other intended purpose than to hurt someone, right?  There is no other use for a saw there, is there?

The same could even be said about scissors... If you're "open carrying" a pair of scissors at a cross road.... Well, there's no obvious purpose for the scissors. You must be a psycho murderer waiting for a victim!

Catch all rules are very open to interpretation and thus abuse. Do you trust your law enforcement and/or department of justice to make the right decision?

Not at all.  Right now here in Canada we have politicians that are trying to ban handguns in Toronto.  Their logic is that no one needs a handgun who lives in the city, even though firearms offenses are on the decline.

In Alberta last year the RCMP went into homes illegally after people were evacuated because of flooding, they said it was for public safety and they took peoples firearms from their homes.  People are still fighting to have their firearms returned.  They are now trying to pass into law that would allow them to confiscate any firearms in the event of a disaster/emergency.

There is a real movement taking place to remove firearms from people here.  Their end goal is to disarm every citizen and only have the police/military to have access to them.

Hmm House MD is my favorite, but also The Fresh Princ of Bel Air, then new one Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D hehe Cheesy Cheesy

I miss House, probably one of the best shows ever made, at least in my opinion.  I really hope they do a reunion type show down the road.  Then again, might be a little tough considering how it ended.
204  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you play any game on facebook... on: July 15, 2014, 10:06:16 PM
Games are waste of precious time.. especially when it comes to facebook.

Sometimes a person just needs to unwind for a few minutes. While most are mindless fun, some actually make you use your brain and think.

Facebook games are fun but quite boring in the long run. I prefer MMORPG games over facebook games

Agreed, the novelty of the games wear off rather quickly. Most tend to be the same game masked as something different.  The amount of real money spent on the games blows my mind.  Zynga which is one of the biggest players in the game business, makes hundreds of millions every year.  Hard to believe people spend real money to build and maintain fake farms.
205  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you own a firearm? on: July 15, 2014, 10:01:15 PM
I don't own any.

Where I am from knives are regulated too.

Regulated how exactly?

In Canada these knives are considered prohibited:

    automatic knives such as switchblades
    centrifugal knives such as flick knives or butterfly knives;
    gravity knives;
    Constant Companion (belt-buckle knife)
    finger rings with blades or other sharp objects projecting from the surface;
    push daggers;
    spiked wristbands;

Do any of those fit into your "regulated" category?

Quote from: Google translate of Dutch Law
Category 1 weapons - completely prohibited
Weapons in this category are, without exemption, entirely prohibited: both its possession and trade in it. This category includes, among others:

Stilettos (spring blades) blades with lateral projecting blade
Flick knives: knives with protruding blade (with or without spring)
Butterfly knives: knives with a handle that consists of two parts, which can be lifted to the blade back (see note below)
Foldable blades with a total unfolded length above 28 cm
Foldable knife with a blade over a cutting edge has
throwing Stars
Vilmessen and ballistic knives
Bladed weapons which looks similar to an object other than a weapon
Arrows and arrowheads, intended to be fired, which feature cutting parts with the obvious intent thereby to cause serious injury.

Category 4 weapons - possession allowed, not allowed to carry in public
Knives in this category may be in the possession or trafficking. These weapons are not worn. That is, they must be so packed properly during transport that they can not be used for immediate use.

From our range fall under Category 4:

Edged weapons (knives) with a blade more than one cutting edge, provided they do not fall under Category 1.
Notes: * A closed folding knife with a blade over a cutting edge has falls under Category 1 - and is completely forbidden. Note: A zaagtanding is hereby considered cutting edge!
* A knife with fixed blade and more than one cutting edge (eg zaagtanding in the back) falls under Category 4.
Cutlasses, swords, sabers and bayonets.
Objects which, given their nature or context in which they are found, it can be reasonably assumed that they are intended for no other purpose than to bring harm to persons or to threaten - and not covered by any of the other three categories.
NOTE: It is very important that you carrying such a weapon is always well packaged.

Sorry for the poor translation, I am not familiar with all the specific knive related terms in English so I resorted to google translate. Do note the catch-all.

WOW! If I'm reading that correctly, thats a little over the top. So pretty much any knife with a sharp edge is considered a weapon to harm people.

How much in this thread you use firearm for hunting?

Currently, no. I am in the process of taking my course to acquire my hunting license.  I would much rather eat meat that is free from all hormones and antibiotics that they use in factory farms.  Also, it's much cheaper overall.  Getting harder and harder to make it these days, especially with meat prices soaring.

207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I lost 10 units of fiat, Bitcoin could have prevented this. on: July 15, 2014, 07:16:54 AM
You say that bitcoin could have prevented this, I agree.  So could a lot of other things though.

You say 10 units of fiat, I'm gonna assume 10 separate bills?  If so, that's a lot not to notice fall out of your pocket/wallet.

I keep all my money in my front pocket and carry a credit card.  I use the credit card to pay for everything.  Carry a small amount of cash for emergency situations.  I drop my credt card, it makes a pretty good noise that I can hear.  I lose that credit card, it's insured.

Seems to me this situation could have been easily preventable. Even without bitcoin.

Does any1 watched this new series Last Ship?

Is it good. Any suggestions about the show, also is Under the dome ok to watch or just another sfi fi in line.

Under the Dome was good at first.  Pretty sure it was just supposed to be a mini series of a few episodes at first.  Then it took off.  First few were good, now it's just really weird. Then again, thats sci fi for you.

Speaking of sci fi, anyone watch Defiance?  Interesting show that paints a picture of the future after some serious changes. (Aliens, war, etc.)
209  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you play any game on facebook... on: July 15, 2014, 04:33:11 AM
These day, Candy Crush. Only if I'm really bored though.

I don't get why some people get so bent out of shape over game requests and such.  I never send requests but I see friends go nuclear over them.  Whats the big deal?

So what if you get a red notifier, click it and it disappears. I just don't get it.
210  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do You smoke? tobacco/weed on: July 15, 2014, 03:46:49 AM
Anyone got recommendations trying to quit smoking Cigs.....Know it will be tough...especially when a beer comes...

No joke, my buddy stopped through hypnosis, quit cold turkey.  Obviously, it's not going to work for everyone, but it can work.  Perhaps something to look into.
211  Other / Meta / Re: I'm lucky to have an image! on: July 15, 2014, 02:41:35 AM
What is the possibility of allowing users to request an image to the mods when we hit a certain activity level?

Say when a user gets to Sr. Member status they can send a pic to the mod to add to their profile.  It would kind of be a nice reward for reaching that status. Or is something like this totally out of the question?
212  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you own a firearm? on: July 14, 2014, 11:40:22 PM
No, but I've gone shooting at the rang and I have since come down with the "firearm bug".  I'd like my gun to be very nice but that being said, anything that over 40 calibur I think I would generally like.  I think my wallet is still trying to catch up my taste in guns.   Grin

That's how it started for me.  Buddy asked me if I wanted to go to the range, I've been hooked ever since.  It's definitely an expensive hobby. 1000 rounds of 9mm here, runs about $275 Canadian.  Then there is the cost of the firearms 9mm range kit, you're looking at $600 or so for a S&W MP

I'm looking into getting a reloader with my buddies, cuts the cost almost in half.

No, I don't and I don't believe citizens in well-run civilized societies should either
Caveat: the State has to make good its obligation to take care and protect all its citizens

Why? For me, and live many other responsible owners, it's a hobby. We are not out to hurt anyone.

I see that you bring up the fact the state should take care and protect all its citizens.  Yes, they should, but that's not going to happen.

This image always comes to mind:

214  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you own a firearm? on: July 14, 2014, 05:38:43 AM
Yes I do. My buddy and I head down to the range on a regular basis to target shoot. My buddy and I both own Smith & Wesson MP 9mm range kits.  That's all I own at this time, but I plan on picking up a 12 gauge for trap shooting.  Right now I borrow one of my buddies when we go trap shooting.

It makes for a fun afternoon, nothing like a little healthy competition and a few hundred rounds to clear the mind.

I've lost a couple so called friends after they found out I went and got my firearms license, like i was now some kind of killer.  I am a responsible firearms owner who only shoots at targets at the range, nothing more.

Personally, I think everyone should take the courses even if they don't plan on owning firearms. Of course I'm talking about Canadians here, but everyone should learn about gun safety.  I learned a new respect for firearms through going through the process of obtaining my license.

Well guys, it's a miracle but Updown did make its payout! But their sig campaign is closed so that doesn't increase chances that Stunna will bump his prices up.
They have paid only around 7 or 9 out of 70 users, no?

Last I checked this was true but I'll go check the official thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=600446.msg7795371#msg7795371

Ah he did pay out
Oh i see now, but it still doesn't seem as 70 transactions but <35, let's see if some users will still be complaining.

I believe that is because the enrollment list in the OP is outdated.  And please stop talking about updown.BT here, this is about primedice.

It is outdated.  if you hover over the date, it says that it was last updated on June 30th at 5:30 PM
216  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: July 11, 2014, 07:23:26 AM
i have a feeling that a few members will forget to change their signatures, and they will all appear off..

Oh yeah, it's gonna be interesting.  Don't think it's possible to monitor, but Stunna should offer an incentive to users who manage to correctly change their sig every day until PD3 is launched.

and how would he confirm the people who correctly did it? that's just more work for him.

That's why I said, I don't think it's possible.  It's still an interesting concept though. I know some online games that know if you access daily, perhaps PD could do the same thing?

Not buying that you had never heard of Monopoly before. Far too many similarities.  there is also hundreds if not thousands of different types of monopoly, you had to have known.

I think maybe I didn't word that quite right.  I wasn't claiming to have thought of the concept of Monopoly... the game was invented well before I was born! XD  I was specifically referring to Mariopoly.  I had not seen this version in stores before.  Some friends of mine had talked about making up their own versions of Monopoly and this is what I came up with a while ago.

Ah, my bad.  With the clarification I see what you are saying now. monopoly is such an interesting concept as a game.  As i mentioned in a previous post. I play it often. It can be played with so many different strategies, and no game seems to play out the same as the last.

personally, I love the game, but I've also been playing it since I was a kid so I may be biased.

I do like the looks of your version, looks like you put a lot of work into it.

As for anyone that says Monopoly isn't fun.  They've obviously not played after a few beers or taken it serious enough.  My g.f. and I play it with my mother often.  My mother is ruthless when it comes to playing.  The games can get pretty heated.

Interesting, there appears to already be a Super Mario Brothers Monopoly board game:

220  Other / Off-topic / Re: My favorite drink is........... on: July 10, 2014, 05:54:54 AM
I swear at least half of the people that posted here have said water. There's much better drinks to life than water...

While I agree, there is nothing like a glass of ice cold water on a sunny and hot day.  In those situation, the glass has to be full of ice before I put the ice cold water in.

Like today, it was about 35 C (That's 95 F in those backwards places) While I love an ice cold beer, nothing beats an ice cold glass of water when it's hot out.
