201  Economy / Speculation / Re: Satoshi forces the price of bitcoin to continue to rise over time on: April 13, 2024, 04:54:54 AM
The halving hurts some miners but not all. You need to understand that with each generation the bitcoin ASICS are more advanced and require less power for the same hash rate. Miners find ways around the halving and plan ahead maybe by a year before it happens.

Some miners might get caught off guard when all of a sudden their profits are suddenly halved and their expenses are still a fixed cost. This happens every halving where someone buys an ASIC at an amazing price and see how it’s profitable at the moment only to later find out that it’s profitability will greatly decrease.
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin = Proof of Scam ? on: April 13, 2024, 04:49:12 AM
I haven’t read it in years but I am pretty sure it talks about it in the white paper. He says that every 210,000 the block reward will be cut in half. There is also some mathematical formula to prove all of this.

Why is the halving bad? Are you a miner? Most welcome the halving because it reduces the selling supply because less issuance and less sell pressure.
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Interacting with Solana Dapps also require revoking approvals afterward? on: April 12, 2024, 04:11:27 AM
[....]What I would like to know is if interacting with different dapps on Solana blockchain can easily get your wallet drained like it has been the case with the like of ETH, BSC…
Your wallet won't be drained unless you allow these Dapps to do so. Reputable wallets ask you first what permissions do you give them and most just ask basic functions that are similar to "read only" mode.

Quote
Is there any trustworthy tool that has been used before that can revoke approvals on Solana addresses?
I don't think you can reverse the transaction once you click approve but wallets such as Phantom has a built-in tool that allows you to disconnect to any Dapps you've connected before. This revokes any access previously granted. https://help.phantom.app/hc/en-us/articles/19888567849107-How-to-Disconnect-Wallet-from-dApps

I clicked the link you posted and the Very first part says that “Disconnecting Dapps doesn’t revoke any contracts”. So it’s pretty much just like Ethereum where you need to manually revoke any approvals or you can get drained one day.

It’s too bad it’s not as easy as just disconnecting the Dapp, because it’s a pain to have to revoke for every site that you use, especially if you use it frequently.
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time for BSC memecoins to take over Solana? on: April 12, 2024, 04:07:55 AM
Right now if you are into these meme coins then Solana is where it’s at. You can forget Ethereum,  nobody wants to pay $50 swap fees anymore when they can literally pay half a penny.

Everyday there is a crazy meme coins which pumps like crazy for no reason. In the last 24 hours, guess what the top meme coin was? It was OJ Simpson meme coin. All because he died.

I don’t think this will stop anytime soon.
205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good bitcoin security starts with strong PC and mobile device security on: April 12, 2024, 04:03:53 AM
Linux is not completely bullet proof but you need to understand that it’s market share is very small compared to the huge amounts of people who are using Windows.

Also it’s much easier to trick a novice Windows users than it is to trick an advanced computer user who uses Linux. Hence why most malware is found on Windows.
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Richest Crypto And Bitcoin Billionaires In The World 2024 on: April 12, 2024, 04:00:31 AM
SBF net worth was fictional however. We all know what happened. They had this “balanced” sheet where their assets matched their liabilities but their assets were pretty much FTT, remember their made up token?

The reason why FTX failed is because most of their assets were priced in FTT which was highly illiquid. And that’s why CZ decided to sell their FTT and decided not to buy their exchange.

CZ never did that with BNB. He also never spent customers funds.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how do you think meme coinis? on: April 11, 2024, 04:20:09 AM
Meme coins shouldn’t really have any value however take Dogecoin for example. After 10 years it still exists. And there is also SHIB which I assumed would of died off by now but didn’t. Then there is PEPE and WIF which will also most likely survive.

So just because a coin has no purpose doesn’t mean it’s going to go to zero. If there is a market after it, it will pump like crazy even if it’s worth less.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So Solana is 20x up but Ethereum is dying, yet for years ppl shill Eth why? on: April 11, 2024, 04:17:54 AM
Only reason Solana is up 20x is because of the Ftx mess. When they went bankrupt they held a large share of SOL and they also have tons and tons of locked SOL for the future.

People assumed SOL was a dead project and why they all dumped it. How low did it even go? $10 or $7. At the time people assumed SOL was finished and moved on to other projects.
209  Economy / Speculation / Re: New ATH hit. Anyone, ever bought BTC, is now at profit. Welcome to fraternity... on: April 11, 2024, 04:13:18 AM
I think he means it’s the last time we get exponential price increases like we did in the past cycles. If we hit say $100K or $150K and we too and the cycle restart, on the following cycle we most likely won’t 3x the prior top of say $150K, which would put us at $500K. Just not enough market cap at the moment for that.

It will still increase in price as time goes on but most likely it will be a linear increase at a much smaller slope. Kind of how most stock markets trade. They pump during the IPO and then usually they start to peak slowly instead of suddenly.
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ORE mining on Solana network on: April 10, 2024, 04:49:26 AM
When you first launch the miner it starts mining some hash, this is very quick. Then for the next few minutes it looks for something and eventually sends it to the network and you get your reward.

However right now most of the sends are failed but eventually some will get thru. I think if they increased the difficult by like 100x then the spams would go down since it would take longer to find a “share”.
211  Economy / Speculation / Re: 30,170 BTC worth $2B sent to Coinbase on: April 10, 2024, 04:45:52 AM
You can’t compare the daily or weekly volume and say it’s the same as a $2B sell order. The market is generally balanced and many of the coins that trade daily are back and forth.

If the daily volume is $500M you can say that if someone were to market sell $500M within a 24 hour period the price would still stay the same. Doesn’t work like that.

$2B is a huge amount and it’ll take a while to absorb.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Will Happen If the Mt. Gox Stolen Funds Start to Move on: April 10, 2024, 04:40:54 AM
Nothing will happen if the funds move. Where are they going to send it? Binance? Coinbase? And it’ll obviously get flagged right away and funds frozen and I guess in 10 years they would be sent back to the mt gox victims.

This is why for many of the hacks, the money just stays there and almost never moves. Which leads me to think that these people did it most likely for the rush and not for the money. Why steal all these bitcoins when you will never be able to spend it?

You can consider it burnt pretty much.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Savings APR reduction normal? on: April 09, 2024, 04:05:06 AM
Generally the APR goes down when the funding rates go down. When funding rates are high for bitcoin and Ethereum then you can expect your stablecoins to have higher APRs.

However the last few weeks funding has been low and until we break ATHs I don’t think the rates will improve. When more traders borrow stablecoins to long crypto, usually the market goes up and you get higher APR.

Market looks primed for another leg up, so we might get better rates in the close future.
214  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the most secure BTC futures exchange with good trading volume? on: April 09, 2024, 04:01:22 AM
Yeah Bitmex really lost its market share after the CEO Arthur Hayes stepped down. It was the largest perp exchange back in 2017-2019. Pretty much everyone used it. But due to regulations they had to start KYC and everybody left.

Now volume is awful. Remeber their spot BTC pair last week or two. Someone dumped large amounts of spot bitcoins and caused huge wicks. Horrible liquidity right now.
215  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Martingale strategy With Stop Loss on: April 09, 2024, 03:22:18 AM
Honestly I tried this strategy with Dice and it didnt go well.

You always think that, its not possible to get 10 losers in a row but you will be surprised. Eventually with enough trades you will run into a losing streak this large.

With Dice I think at one time I got maybe 12 losers in a row which seemed like impossible and was cleaned out. I dont think this is a good strategy at all, with trading the markets or any of the gambling sites such as dice.
216  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Factors that might affect ATH in BTC price after halving on: April 09, 2024, 03:19:47 AM
...the upcoming event especially the USA election might prove a major factor in getting another ATH in the price of BTC after the halving,
I don't understand the logic on why the upcoming election in the US will be pivotal in giving Bitcoin another ATH. America with all her shenanigan towards Bitcoin can never be said to aid it. I don't believe it will boost BTC price. What I know is that there's going to be some alts floated to raise money for major front runners in the elections and that's as far as it goes. Those alts can blossom but I don't see that transcending to Bitcoin. It's a coin–cidence that the US election is the same year of Bitcoin halving and that makes it look like it has any impact on it. It doesn't.

It will have an effect some-what. You need to understand that if Trump wins the election then the stock market will rally hard. Like it did for most of Trumps term. And when the stock market rallies so will Bitcoin because from time to time its closely correlated.

We also know that he has a good stance on crypto now after he was pumping those Trump Card NFTs last year. And he also stated he likes Bitcoins for what it is. Complete opposite of what he said last time as he was president. So its very bullish.
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Solana still Worth buying?? on: April 09, 2024, 03:16:47 AM
I remember buying Solana after the FTX crash at like $9 or so. I ended up closing the position when I discovered how much locked SOL belonged to the FTX bankruptcy, I assumed this coin would never have any value because there would be a huge bear whale that would dump on us, so I sold the $9 for a small gain and now I regret it.

Buying now is risky because all markets look toppy to be honest. This was a great investment a year ago but now who knows how high it can go. Maybe itll break ATH but I dont see a price of $500 anytime soon because of the huge locked SOL which will be dumped by the liquidators of the bankruptcy.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ORE mining on Solana network on: April 09, 2024, 03:12:09 AM
Yeah it’s a pain to get it started. And the coin tanked in value a lot. Was $2000 when I started and now $300 a few hours ago.
It does not look promising at all.

I could have done it for fun, but with the Mint Authority still enabled and ownership not renounced. It's just a waste of time. I can see why the price tanked that hard. On Raydium liquidity is just at $9.4K lol.  Grin

Yeah its hard to say how it will turn out. However it seems every crappy meme coin on SOL pumps like crazy and even gets a few CEX listings. This looked promising because it allows anyone to mine some tokens even if they have a smart phone.

In their website they talk about fair launch and distrution and the website is well designed, the code also had a lot of work put into it. I am fairly new to Solana so I don't know much about the Mint Autority but I assumed its enabled because there is a new ORE minted every minute by the miners.
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ORE mining on Solana network on: April 08, 2024, 04:39:27 AM
this crap is stuck on starting: creating token account for me

Yeah it’s a pain to get it started. And the coin tanked in value a lot. Was $2000 when I started and now $300 a few hours ago.

Seems people are doing nothing but renting AWS rigs and dumping these ORE right away. The dexscanner says we got like 80% sells in the last 24 hours. The mining selling pressure is just too high for this illiquid token.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How would you connect 2 PSUs? on: April 08, 2024, 04:37:14 AM
You sure you can’t connect the riser to the other PSU? Been years since I’ve done this but from what I remember the power to the GPU coming from the riser is not directly connected to the PCIe power connector at the top. You can take a multi meter and verify this.

Unless some of the newer GPUs are different then the older r9 280x that I had to have a dual PSU option for.

Oh, I also made sure both the PSUs were grounded together.
