So I have been getting a fair amount of emails showing up in my spam folder. Anybody else? I think it started happening after my email was leaked from that mining pool. (Around the time other nasty shit happened).

They all contain a link to profitshares, a referal link, a brief writeup, or no writeup at all, or the writeup scraped from the website, etc etc.

Is this the company/website itself, or people trying vainly to get referals and earn money? Is profitshares malicious?

AnonyMint.... just wow.

You are eitehr one serious troll or trying to contribute to pushing BTC even further down. Not sure which, but I am sure that you're not actually this retarded.

Can you find me a Phenom II x4 that hasn't been killed via overclocking?

Sure can! Are you looking for a specific model?
945 Okay? I can track down a 945 no problem, I get a lot of HPs with Phenom II 945s.

None of the processors I get are OCed (I generally pass on them if they have been, or use it in a mining rig :p)They are mainly all from pre-built computers I buy second hand when something goes wrong with it that people are too inept to fix. I only started doing this a few months ago and have made a killing.

It's amazing what people will basically throw away because it doesn't work "right now!" $30 fix? Fuck that, I want it NOW! The mentality of some people, eh...
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's add up the KNOWN lost bitcoins on: February 16, 2014, 04:06:57 PM
Not sure if this is still ongoing. I have lost 55 BTC that will never again be part of someones wealth.
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is failing in replacing fiat in physical shops on: February 16, 2014, 03:56:35 PM
Regarding the speed of transactions. It's all about risk. you aren't going to wait 15 minutes to get 6 confirms for your coffee. Your house is another matter.

Also, I use Coino, and am quite invested in this coin. It is fully confirmed in 50 seconds. I routinely send funds or withdraw funds, and am able to spend or do whatever I want in less than one minute. There are always other altcoins if we need speed, But I don't think we ever need a faster BTC.

Quote
No. We will not. Please go back and read my previous posts about this. Confirmations and blockchain transactions have nothing to do with how Bitcoin sales will be conducted on a large scale. It doesn't matter what type of currency is in use - US Dollars, Euro's, Bitcoins, Litecoins, squirrels, pigs, barrels of oil, Storepoints - ALL these currencies get handled and WILL be handled by payment processors (as they do today).

Point of sale transactions are instantaneous - because we are not actually doing a bank transfer at the point of sale. Even if a coin appeared with 1 5-second confirmation time, it would still never be able to match the speed and functionality that Visa / Mastercard payment processors provide.

You'll still be paying with a 'card' it's just that the money will be coming from a cryptocurrency account managed by the appropriate payment processor. (This is already happening - look how the cryptocurrency exchanges work right now).

This will be the future. A payment processor which "okays" the payment instantly to the seller, allowing the buyer to leave with his item before the 6 confirms.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So...What Other Weaknesses in Bitcoin Coding Should We Know About? on: February 16, 2014, 03:31:11 PM
I don't imagine there will be anything big. Of course there will be ongoing attacks to break the network etc.
Did we ever find out which node(s) were sending out the malleability attack?

Of course there will be more surprises down the road. Bitcoin is anything but boring.

It was pretty boring for January and people complained about the price stagnating or not going up, now they complain for the opposite lol.

lol, what is with people and complaining these days? Everyone complains about everything...

Fucking complainers. Back in my day there wasn't so much complaining! You just took what came your way, and you took it with ya to school in 6 feet of snow, up-hill both ways! Can't people just appreciate what they Have? Geese! Some people's kids....

Wink wink
219  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: My Views on MtGox’s Bitcoin Withdraw Pause on: February 16, 2014, 02:58:59 PM
Who do we go to to investigate!? As stated in another thread, we have pretty much all told regulatory agencies where to put it... They sure as hell won't be bailing us out.
Do we take this to the JSA? Unlike american bureaucracy, the Japanese do not use different organizations to deal with different levels of finance. It's all handled by the JSA.

What do we do? Start a petition and gather signatures, financial statements by those affected?
Normally we would be shit out of luck, but as this is for multi-millions I think we have a chance. Maybe we should even contact internet crime divisions to drum up some attention to the matter

I've thought since the beginning of this eMTyGOX scandal that they had known about the transaction malleability flaw for a long time and are playing that card as some sort of scam. I didn't know what exactly that was, wether they were running a racket for a long time and this is them "calling quits" when they hit their exit mark, or what. This makes perfect sense though.

1) Since the withdraw of non-Yen fiat currency to e-wallets(OKPAY, etc.) is suspended, why the deposit from these e-wallets is still available? If MtGox indeed has some trouble in AML or illegal activities investigation, the deposit should be unavailable as well as withdraw!

Good point that exposes the real intentions of Gox. They're crooks.

220  Economy / Speculation / Re: Someone is trying to intentionally tank Bitcoin price on: February 16, 2014, 01:53:11 PM
The title of this thread is "Someone is trying to intentionally tank Bitcoin price".
That assertion is absolutely correct, and it has been happening for weeks.  Massive DDoS attacks on most pools, most exchanges, and now an ongoing "Transaction Malleability" attack.  It is clear that someone from the other side is not happy about the existence of Bitcoin.
This is not just the "nature of the Bitcoin market" as Holliday puts it.
This is not just the "nature of stock/commodity/currency speculation" as Bitcoin_is_here_to_stay puts it.
This is an attack, a multimillion dollar attack, lots of hardware, lots of skilled people, lots of hate.
Now the question is "what are we going to do about it?".

"Now the question is 'what are we going to do about it?'."

There aren't really any get rich systems in life that work for everyone. If there were, then EVERYONE would be rich, and rich would not be rich; it would be average.

Bitcoin is not for getting rich, although there are a few that will. Bitcoin is for using as a medium of trade, the thing that money was supposed to be used for, until we found out that the bankers had turned it into a get-rich Ponzi.

The things we can do about it are:
Spread the message about how Bitcoin is better than money;
Use Bitcoin rather than hoard it;
Continue to develop innovations that use the Bitcoin pattern.

We are the people who can do this, The fact that we are in this forum and posting or commenting shows that we are.

Smiley
I was going to say this but now I don't have to. Quoted for truth!
