Poloniex was dossed because of the XBC panic buy?

Yeah. If you guys saw a panic buy because of the CMC listing I bet that was it. I was not on Polo at the time it went down.
The XBC block explorer seems to be DDOSed also or having a speed issue with the Rich list.

So I guess that is a good sign for value of XBC but annoying for Polo and XBC to deal with the DDOS.

It could totally be something else but the CMC listing was just hours ago right? Like 2-3 hours ago?
Same time as Polo going down. That would also give a DDOSer the time to move BTC in to buy coins
as an added effect but that is pure speculation of course.

Seen this before with other coins.

WOW this is a good sign if we are being ddossed all over the place, XBC is a force to be reckoned with. You won't see me doing a noob panic sell once POLO opens..I will probably need to upload more btc!! Nice to see more of the Community here and the IRC is packed daily..also hello to Armin too!! Smiley

You find this to be reassuring!
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: May 03, 2014, 12:04:35 AM
What happened was an attacker used social engineering to gain root access to a wallet server. This was made possible by absolutely jaw-dropping negligence on the part of the hosting provider. Fortunately, I caught the attempt in time and was able to shut down the server before anything was taken. All BTC has been moved into cold storage, and then next step is to set up a new server with a different provider.

Please stop sending BTC to your old BTC deposit addresses. The funds will not be lost, but all new addresses must be generated, as I must assume the old wallet is compromised. It is very unlikely that it was, but "unlikely" is not good enough.

I appreciate everyone's patience while I take proper security measures before bringing the exchange back online.

Busconi. There's 3 zero day hacks going around. All require sure diligence. I'm amazed YOU need to catch this in time. Perhaps you'll have white hats assess your systems. Check pm for third 0 day hack

Hello my Lovely Peeps..sorry I am not too active today..I been vomiting with migraine and my Mum just phoned me to tell my my Aunty just passed away and I was very close to her emotionally,so it's a crapola day our end..I just need to get through today and I will be active tomorrow and also will send something to dev fund tomorrow.. Cry

An inordinate amount of information - thank you for that, surely the same paragraph could give the dev team the required info.
What took the block spacing 90 mins for 1 block recently?

I signed up for his $100/wk plan only to prove that this was a total scam. The outcome; I tweeted he was a scammer and he proceeded to request DMs where he obviously cleaned out a few more people of their cash: https://blockchain.info/address/1EWjBTuNdfJJU2njNSyVpwGkw2s5Vm5XoN

When you're all done playing the game of the Greatest Fool here, those of you who make some BTC, be sure to support the first coin that made these new types of clones possible. Tongue

Bitcoin, Peercoin, Novacoin, Mintcoin? Not quite sure what you're getting at here Smiley

You don't get it and that doesn't surprise me. No doubt whitecoin will do what cat/kittycoin did vs doge

Has there bee any word on a multi-pool for the PoS phase yet?  This is by far the mot important thing.  The only proven route in cryptos so far is value first and everything follows.  You garner value people pay attention.  Everyone seems to want to follow doge's success of brute force popularity for acceptance and value.  If this truly is based of BC then it should learn from all of BCs growing pains and not repeat them but rather start out of the gates with what they've learned.

It's been words of it on the IRC now and then. I think someone's been setting one up and inviting people to try it as beta.
The BC multipool didn't show up before a couple of weeks after POW phase on BC, it's very likely we'll have one for WC though within a week or two already Smiley

That's my hope to learn from what they did and get one going asap.

So you drink RC Cola do you over Coca Cola? RC Cola must be better by that definition...
Firstly, bc never premised, so off the bat they've showed they've put the devs profit above the coin. Could be most people wouldn't be naive enough to think every clone shit coin is the next btc/doge/bc.
Encouraging them and their premine is worst thing to do.

Yes

So roughly 8 days till POS @ 1.5 minutes per block !!! Smiley

Of course. It needs to become Blackcoin ASAP. Pathetic across the board. Blackcoin thrived from INNOVATION.
experimentation is the key. Unbelievable

As always: The rich get richer, and the poor - poorer Wink such is the nature of mankind

Do you factor power into mining? Because your statement that ASICs are more costly is dead wrong.
I'm sick to death of hearing that ASICs are only for the rich. Spend the same as a few Radeon 270s and get 8MH/s and at like 1/100th the power consumption.
This isn't a personal attack as everyone should get their facts straight. The usage of X11 etc to avoid ASICS is just lining AMD's pockets with inflated GPU prices.
The poor could've bought a 8MH/s ASIC, mined Blackcoin and saved enough for the ~90MH/s Scrypt ASIC by now and got even richer. Get over it; GPUs are the past of BTC. Hell, with POS like non-imitators such as Blackcoin employ there's no need for an arms race of GPUs and ASICs etc

it really shows how bad the scene is getting and sadly I do not see the trend reversing.

212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypto Rush - Crypto to Crypto exchange on: April 14, 2014, 02:11:13 PM

Ask yourself, why would someone pick up a site which has one of the worst reputations right now, and put money into it, actually believing they can turn the reputation around?

They wouldn't, not anyone with sense.

Exactly my point. You'd never buy a piece of shit reputation exchange to fix up. You'd start over.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypto Rush - Crypto to Crypto exchange on: April 10, 2014, 04:08:36 PM
Seeing I can't do much with the funds stuck at Cryptorush.
Are people aware you can buy and sell at "ANY" price?
Willing to help out some little guys if you know what I'm getting at with the above. Smiley
Also found out you can't buy or sell to yourself Wink

The whales are so far from the exchanges of this place you may as well be asking for free money. Erm, well, ....
Also anyone who traded here isn't totally at fault. A new security and trust related exchange tool will soon be in place. All it takes is the effort of 10 (several even) fake accounts btc talk and/or supporting CryptoRush.

That is changing, without plroof of claim and such, there's no "official" tweets coming from scum bags who are evil pieces of shit ripping each other off over the promise of a virtual coin stash.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypto Rush - Crypto to Crypto exchange on: April 10, 2014, 11:23:23 AM
avoid this exchange. it's a trap.
they have higher rates and if you put altcoins there and exchange them to btc or ltc you will not be able to withdraw ltc or btc.
you will have to exchange them to other altcoins and again you will face  a wall of high exchange rates which probably make you lose more than what you gained.
AVOID THEM AND DON'T DEPOSIT ANY COINS
My btc are trapped there.
you would be and idiot if u sent btc or litecoin there .they have a warning at the top of the page.its no secret nor a scam.they have stated everything quite clear about what they are doing and how they are trying to rebuild from what the old owners done to site.remeber these guys are all new management/owners team.they are not responsible for the action of the sites old owners but yet they promised to make it right but it will take alittle time.you need to go talk to them in chat on CR or do some reading before u post trash like this bro.u are so far behind updates its not funny.they are online 24/7 just about to answer any questions u might have.just log in and ask away.better than acting like a child and spreading lies and false accusations in here.just makes u look like a fool.

Are you per chance friends of these new owners? I only ask because I'm curious why someone would polish a turd rolled in burning hair and vomit when they could, well.. They could reopen as Altcoin Integrated Scamming Services or even SHITEX and have a better chance at making money.
I'm so glad these new guys stepped in. It just takes time ... Which they deserve why? Oh because they're new! I feel terrible for thinking it was the same exchange with the same idiots doing the same laughable shit.
You know what's fishy about your post? The fact you defend them without reason or proof of any good intentions. You're childish if you think we buy your bullshit

What happen to lazy coin exchange ? They change their mind not to add this coin ?

Yes the exchanges are the lazy ones and not the developer who cannot answer how they'll ship $1 million worth of coins via post. Anooncement, TBA, etc etc
EVERYONE, know that Muniti has no proof of sponsoring Malta whatsoever. Why would ANYONE think this AUR clone is worth something?
The dev is a lazy scammer and it's pathetic to be honest that I've yet to hear how these coins are shipped and paid for.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What to do now? run away or mine? on: March 27, 2014, 10:43:07 AM

Question is what I should do next:
1)Sell everything and cancel my preorder? This will give me around 9000$-10000$. And I will be out of business
2)Switch to Scrypt-N mining or other coins that are not affected by ASIC? Hopefully prices will rise
3)Sell rigs and order 4 more LA3M? This will give me more less this same rigs speed but power costs will not be a problem
4)Sell everything, pay rest for pre order and keep fingers crossed that Alpha Technology is not scam and they will send ASIC in July.
5)Something else?

I'm changing my mind everyday in last few days so any suggestion will be appreciated.

Regards

Sell up. Mining in it's current form is dead IMO

Bye, cryptorush.

And possibly BC too.
What a MtGox "txn malleability" excuse you have OP. Blaming the protocol or devs when your piece of shit site allows negative withdrawls.
GTFO this because you're terrible at it.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BlackCoin statement from CryptoRush - Very shocking information on: March 25, 2014, 10:44:27 AM
Hey guys,

Just thought I would post an announcement about the status of BlackCoin at Crypto Rush. As you all know there was an unannounced fork earlier today that caused many people to upgrade without proper notice. We at Crypto Rush didn't find out until 7 hours later. For this we apologise about our slow updating to the new version causing many traders potential losses. This is where we announce that BlackCoin was stolen from us by users, caused by a bug in the BlackCoin daemon.

This bug came from the way stake coins work and how they respond to RPC calls and getbalance [accountname] queries, something which we rely on to operate our exchange. Up until this upgrade we had no issues with using BlackCoin and it was trading perfectly well. The bug with the stake caused everyones user balance to inflate to an extra 22 million coins. This is similar to the Zeitcoin issue in the sense that peoples balances were wrong and therefore withdrew more than they had. It's really getting old news for us, and this time the loss was even bigger than Zeitcoin.

Here's a generated report showing some figures.

Total withdrawn: 20,381,892.41143484
Total deposited: 20,448,517.07003221
Total stake generated: 1,640.08575003
Supposed current site balance: 66,624.65859738
Consolidated reported current site balance (user daemon accounts): 22,052,756.46576266
Actual daemon balance: 68,025.87273473

As you can see, the report showed that every combined users reported balance is over 22 million when our wallet balance is only 68k. At the time we pulled BC offline after the update we had only 53.xx coins on the balance. This is a clear sign of a stake bug, and as you can see by this daemon call it confirms the origins of the bug.

./blackcoind getbalance ''
-22052702.65300247

This is because, as told to us by the developer, a bug where the state generation takes away the amount from the main account while still generating the amounts under the specific daemon accounts. We were working with the developer for a while to resolve the issue, and he did fix the bug in the daemon, making our statistics report correct again.

Total withdrawn: 20,381,892.41143484
Total deposited: 20,448,517.07003221
Total stake generated: 1,640.08575003
Supposed current site balance: 66,624.65859738
Consolidated reported current site balance (user daemon accounts): 66,624.39639811
Actual daemon balance: 68,025.87273473

After we confirmed this data and had the developer confirm with us that this was indeed a bug, he responded with the following: "i see these numbers, what do you expect from me?". He is refusing to help us in solving the issue. For future reference here is a complete pastebin log of the chat since I joined the channel #bcdevmeeting and my conversation with the developer http://pastebin.com/qW3xRmcL. The log clearly shows him helping us solve the problem and admitting to a bug, but refusing to have any care about how to resolve the situation.

Obviously we knew as soon as we took off the BC markets for a second time it was a serious issue. It took us long to generate the data and reports to confirm the exact amount of loss, which is 1554503.10052230, 121.xx Bitcoins at the time of writing. It was taken by users who withdrew coins they knew did not belong to them. We had one user come to us and report that he had more balance than he should have and wanted to give them back. A very warm thanks to this user, we need more people like them in crypto. A couple of other users notified that balances just "popped up" for them after the update.

To top it off, as soon as we launched BlackCoin's update we underwent a 8 hour constant DDoS attack which we've now since patched and blocked. This just adds to the mess and situation that everyone had to go through.

Guys, all I can say is, we're totally pissed off that this happened for both us and for everyone affected. Me and the team work very very hard to keep up with everyone's messages, tickets and IRC chats while continuing to develop the site and fix any bugs that arise. My personal opinion is if this fork was realised sooner it could have been better planned. There was absolutely no prior warning to it happening. I can't believe that we are the only ones that were negatively affected. I'm sure there are tons of users who lost out on great trading opportunities due to this fork and downtime on other sites.

Once again we apologise for our own issues with both downtime and late upgrades of the client. We'll post more when we know how we can pay back affected users or get some compensation for this massive massive loss. 100 BTC doesn't just come out of thin air, so please be patient while we make this right. I'll answer as many questions as I can here publicly about this issue, any off-topic questions will be ignored unless relevant. If anyone has any suggestions for how we can solve the issue, please do let us know.

Until further notice BlackCoin trading is suspended on Crypto Rush.

Regards,
LaZ
Crypto Rush

You are blaming the devs? What do you want, another fork to refund? How did you code allow negative balance and withdrawals to continue? Did you test the code?
I don't have sympathy for good reason - not one exchange employs security white hat help it seems. Happy to take 2% fee in profit, but security holes in code allowing negative balance? That's just ridiculous.  Roll Eyes
