201  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevii are stalling Gemini until halving draws closer. on: August 10, 2015, 11:32:17 PM
This way they will have the highest change of launching and seeing a increase in price and it will look like they are the cause.  Investors will then flood to the ETF launched at a later date.

As this appears to be speculation, allow me to propose another speculation. They are waiting for NY to approve their bitlicense application.

Does anybody have the knowledge of how long it took itbit to get their application approved for ETA comparison purposes?

204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I doubled my bitcoin in last 3 months. How do you make money(bitcoin) online? on: August 09, 2015, 03:03:51 PM

So you created bitcointalk account just to tell us how awesome your skill of investing BTC are? You brag about your skills yet you are not willing to help people enough to tell them how to invest.

And further to the fact that he wont share he wants others to share the way they make their profits...... err, "fuck off", springs to mind.
205  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken BTC Exchange: Farewell New York on: August 09, 2015, 02:49:53 PM
So after Bitfinex, Kraken is the next exchange saying good bye to NY customers due to NEw York states BitLicense.

Why dont Kraken just get the Bitlicense instead of whining?
I mean a exhange of their size should have a whole army of law specialist to sort out these issues in a short time.

I guess it sets a precedent. Its a hoop to jump through and all that would follow is many many more hoops.
206  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken BTC Exchange: Farewell New York on: August 09, 2015, 02:37:19 PM
Finex out. Kraken out. Bitstamp are applying for a license though.

if u plan on catching a pump u have to get the low and u will only have one chance Smiley

Yep! Weak hands (idiots) will follow the trend of selling after a 20 USD drop in price. Anybody with half a brain will be buying now. Buy on bad news, sell on good news, that logic has worked for traders for decades.
Personally I HODL but now is totally a good time for accumulating not selling.

I bought more under 262 yesterday. No way I'm selling after a huge panic sell event.

I will keep buying as long as it brings my average down. Right now my average is at 284. Started buying around 450 on the way down from the all-time high.

The reason I did not sell when we went above 300 was because I either want to make thousands of dollars or lose it all. I'm not in this thing to make a couple hundred bucks. I also believe in the system and want to use BTC for its intended purpose eventually.

Right on brother! (I cant pull off saying that in the real world)

I like your mentality and wish you luck. But... at what price does the value need to be before you are happy to use your coins for their intended purpose?

totally awesome of bitfinex to refuse to file a $5000 NY bitlicense thus cutting off all people in the finance capital of fucking america and instigating +/-$300,000,000 in btc market devaluation

Gemini is coming.

Waiting for Gemini is like being a prostitute that needs to service a 95 year old man who forgot his viagra.

I am struggling to relate, but I guess we all have different experiences to draw on

There is always plenty of work going spare if you would like to get yourself some hands on experience.

212  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar - decentralized eBay on: August 08, 2015, 03:47:00 PM
Tried to install the windows version today. No success after about an hour.

Installed GitHub for Windows, then Python, then py2exe, then (oops) had to install the py2exe for Python 3, then learn how powershell works for running ps1 files in unrestricted mode, then download pycountry1.8, install pycountry1.8, copy the egg file to OpenBazaar directory, run the setup/install (edit the python 2.7 reference to 3.4 in the setup script). No errors. Run the setup/create windows exe...
created an UNKNOWN-0.0.0.win-amd64.exe

Ran that, gave some sort of python install screen. Apparently something installed. And that's it. Nothing running.

Am I missing something?

I realize it is still in development so it is not ready for prime time but any documentation on how to install on windows would be great.

ick!

Hopefully this will be much easier when they have reached the testing phase in *fingers crossed* September.
213  Economy / Speculation / Re: ETA for the ETF? (and Gemini Exchange speculation) on: August 06, 2015, 11:06:18 PM
An increase in to the 300s, 400s would be nice and create an exciting atmosphere once again.

This forum will be fun during the next big rally!

Remember rjclarke when we hit the $317, how much fun it was Cheesy

You are right, the next BIG rally will be so fun to witness Cheesy

Even if its from 120 to 200?
214  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 06, 2015, 05:18:21 PM

I don't think it will happen any time soon either.  Just look at the trouble they're having with obviously needed changes, like block size.
No, Bitcoin will likely remain unchanged (and in beta) for the rest of its life Sad

It will happen if  bitcoin fails to be a plausible currency due to its inherent 'deflation by design configuration'.

If people cant buy bitcoins because they are all owned by folk who want to hoard them, then they will go elsewhere.

I don't think people will have a problem with selling a fraction of what they bought at inflated prices.
215  Economy / Speculation / Re: Direction is NNE (north northeast) - MOON TIME on: August 06, 2015, 04:41:52 PM
you always give us hope, but the market seems sideways all the way to the death, may be sideways 3 more months

Perhaps you would prefer his other thread where he calls doom all the time. 18 pages this thread. Jeez! Lets make it to 20.
216  Other / Off-topic / Cryptosporidium on: August 06, 2015, 03:33:14 PM
Warning conspiracy theorist alert

I am just going off a public announcement in my local area that traces of cryptosporidium has been found in the water and residents of numerous towns and cities are being advised to boil their water before drinking. I've never heard of cryptosporidium before as most wouldn't, but a conspiracy theorist might go nuts for the, 'crypto', part of the word. However, just a mere observation on my part.

Seriously though, public notices about drinking water needing to be boiled before drinking, preparing food or even brushing your teeth with. This is the kind of thing that old people say to their grandchildren when they are telling them how much better things are for them than they used to be for them, and this is in the UK.... If they survive.

http://www.itv.com/news/granada/update/2015-08-06/boil-drinking-water-lancashire-residents-warned/

Definition: Cryptosporidium is a genus of apicomplexan protozoans that can cause gastrointestinal illness with diarrhea in humans. Cryptosporidium is the organism most commonly isolated in HIV-positive patients presenting with diarrhea.
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK plans to become the global bitcoin hub on: August 05, 2015, 06:52:20 PM
The banks in the UK often close people's accounts for being involved in Bitcoin. If the UK plans to become the global bitcoin hub its banks will have to change their attitude to bitcoiners. Most countries banks are hostile to Bitcoin, some are more hostile than the UK banks, but almost none of them seem friendly.

I think the banks are quite civil really. First they will ask, "what the devil are these transactions old chap?", and then when you tell them they will wait a week or two and write to you saying that they are closing your bank account, they arent legally obliged to provide a reason and they wont be doing so and their decision is final. They dont call you a bell end or anything mean like that.
218  Economy / Economics / Re: It's happening: Puerto Rico just defaulted for the first time on: August 05, 2015, 05:56:52 PM
I was really curious why Puerto Rico defaulted, then I got this nice article from CNN http://money.cnn.com/2015/06/29/news/economy/puerto-rico-default-looms/
Its saying its be happened because of an inefficient energy policy by the government.

I know very little but my guess is that this happened because of maths. Maths is always to blame. Shall we abolish maths?  Grin
219  Economy / Speculation / Re: The inevitable is upon us... on: August 05, 2015, 03:02:21 PM
Why do you want it to rise to 10'000$/BTC?

.....To buy more things.... are you stupid?
Things? Things are shit. I would like more services. Services to provide me with more things..... oh wait!
220  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 05, 2015, 02:44:02 PM
The price will go up within a few months, it is gonna skyrocket.

Most of us hope that statement will be proven correct. Unfortunately there's nothing concrete to tell us which way we'll go in the short to medium term. The price seems to be in a pretty concrete, boring range right now. I happen to think we'll go between 270-300 for another couple of weeks at least.

Between 275~ and 300 is pretty much a nothing zone, plenty of support below and plenty of resistance above.

Unless of course the price moves below 275 or above 300.

That's a little piece of wisdom for you. No need to thank me.

Why would I thank you, you've just repeated what I said  Roll Eyes

It's a nothing zone, i.e no clear direction till it breaks either the support or resistance.
