201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: June 06, 2014, 02:20:48 PM
I was at Bitcoin London Conf in 2012 and went to have a beer with friends to the nearest pub last evening. I met a guy there (don't remember his name. something like Jeff or John, maybe).
He told me about ring signatures and mentioned something about CryptoNote. I felt interested and tried to ask him for more details. He was with a company too(10 or 12 people meetup) so our conversation was rather short. We chatted a bit and he gave me a card with .onion website address. He said it would be a currency of the future and I had to mine it.

Another thing i just stumbled on is they mentioned a meeting somewhere in London around Sept. 2012. Around the same time there was a Bitcoin Conference in the same city.

https://sites.google.com/a/bitcoin2012.com/homepage/speakers

It was mentioned before, sounds legit. Jeff Garzik anyone?

Jeff Garzik? Maybe, I don't remember. But doesn't look like a guy.

Old community army is coming at us? Lol.

So, been mining much in 2012?

I used to mine with my old laptop. Difficulty wasn't that high and I used to find blocks rather regularly. So I did around 100M for a week, but I saw no reason to mine further since I knew no places
to spend it. Also I didn't know where it came from and where it would be.

Good for you... I guess.

Are you going to dump it on us? Grin

No, I'm not. When I saw this thread I rushed to my old laptop and even found a wallet file there.
I'm such a looser, you know. I don't remember the password. I may have had 60 BTC when the rate was 0.0000006.

I think it's all bullshit - show us the proof. Proof or never happened.

What kind of proof do you mean? I don't know how he can proove his words. So should we believe him or not is the question.

REALLY??

wordpress.com

REALLY?

Oh, sh*t. Do you really call *.wordpress.com  a competent resource? Really? My grandma can do a "site" at wordpress.com and post there that Monero was premined for example.
Haha, a real cryptocurrency expert, posting only HIS OWN opinion.

Lots of competent people use wordpress and blogspot, and lots of scammers and FUD with 'proper domains', if the content is good the domain doesn't matter.

Hmm..content is good? You mean content about cryptonote is good? Few quotes, no real OWN RESEARH and "was premined" without any argument.
Do you really think the content is good?

Thanks. So it seems it could be solved in the future. By the way: I did not know that computers with 4GB of RAM are "Low Performance Machines". I guess I´m kind of not up to date anymore at all...

Hm...My 4Gb core 2 quad seems to be really low performance for me. I have lots of problems with it. So, I think 4GB is not enough nowadays.

How about respect their privacy and leave them the fuck alone? The work is impressive and if someone wants to (credibly) come forward and take credit fine otherwise stop with the amateur tabloid "journalism"

You spent so much time talking shit about this coin and spreading an increadible amount of hate and now you care about the devs? Now you care about the coin? No more pre-mine talk?

There's a difference between calling out a shady premine for what it is and respecting the technical work of the developers (who may or may not even be the same people behind the premise) but more than that respecting their privacy as human beings.

Smooth, every time you post your new shit here - a little kitten dies somewhere in the world!

Is there a trading thread for this yet?

Not yet I don't think, go ahead and make one?

I can't put the time in to properly moderate over the next few weeks. Someone else should do it.

You could start the thread without escrow service =)

With the my format (that everyone seems to copy now) you still need to edit the first post with the order, so it ends up being a fair amount of work. Escrow is actually pretty easy, especially if people are trusting enough to just send and wait for delivery.

Unfortunately I have the same problems with free time during nearest 2 weeks too =(

I am trying to compile wolf's miner On my linux box (64 bit CentOS 6.5) with no luck so far.

Any hints about how to compile this miner on CentOS?

I am also trying to compile Luca's one on CentOS but with no luck. When i try to run minerd it just stops saying illegal instruction. If you find a solution please tell me...

It's impossible to compile official client on CentOs as I know. Because of old gcc version.

218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [duck] duckNote [ANN]. CryptoNote based. on: May 30, 2014, 10:18:04 PM
just curious why is there 2 transactions (or more for other cryptonote coins) when a block is found ?
here I got one transaction of 20000 and another of 300k

You're dummy in cryptonote, yeah? It's the feature of the cryptonote. You just have to read the whitepaper.
