201  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is OS really important on: March 03, 2015, 03:25:00 PM
I don't think that the Operating System is that important, actually. I think it is more important to make sure you don't have any malware on your system. Basically every system can have malware these days, and your not even safe on Linux os OS X machines if you installed the malware yourself by mistake.

Yes, but it's piss easy to get viruses on Windows and even an anti virus cannot protect against all viruses. There's next to zero viruses for linux and the chance of you getting one is very very slim but I agree you shouldn't just rely on linux to save you but I would recommend using it. Ubuntu is piss easy to use and you don't need to be an expert so there's no excuses.
202  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price is going up now. Why? what going on? i need 411 please. on: March 03, 2015, 03:19:42 PM
Price goes down people ask "why is this happening?". Response: nobody knows.
Price goes up people ask "why is this happening?". Response: nobody knows.

This is just bitcoin for you. Sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down but it's always just supply vs demand.
203  Economy / Lending / Re: Outstanding loan message on: March 03, 2015, 03:16:25 PM
It would be better if the lender were to send a neutral trust feedback as soon as they fund the loan saying that they have a loan outstanding along with the terms of the loan. There are plenty of reasons why a borrower's personal text area would not be available.

Exactly what I was going to say. Just leave it as a feedback. People will almost certainly check a persons feedback first before loaning them money so this is the perfect place to put it. This feature isn't needed in my opinion.

Do Cryptocurrencies Such as Bitcoin Have a Future?

Well obviously we think so less we wouldn't be here. I think bitcoin has a very bright future we just need to give it time for the masses and merchants tog gradually get on board.

Perhaps the most common criticism of cryptocurrencies is that, unlike traditional currencies, they have no basic underlying value.

Roll Eyes What an idiot. If bitcoin has no value then why is it worth $270. Clearly there's value in the blockchain alone but this guy will never realize it.

206  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-02-14] Medium: Bitcoin could reach $34,400 - Roger Ver on: February 17, 2015, 02:09:06 PM
Winklevoss bro's say $100K and Roger Ver says $34K.

Of course I would love to see Bitcoin anywhere in the range they quote.

But is it realistic....? Hmm, not sure. Probably not.  Cheesy

actually they (WikiTwins) say 40k and i my view bitcoin will go at least beyond 10k or will go to zero.

I have seen a short interview where they said that it has the potential to reach $100K

Anyway, $40k or $100K, both figures are not realistic.

Who knows what price is realistic. Any attempt to give bitcoin a value other than its current price is pure speculation. Bitcoin could be worth 0-1 Million in the future. We'll just have to wait and see.

In order to get Bitcoin to a certain price level we have to get rid of the corrupt and shitty exchanges that we have now.

Do I see that happen in the comming years? Not really. Unless a new and serious different exchange pops up that deals with problems as written above.

Decentralised exchanges will be the future. There you go. Problem solved.
207  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2015-02-15 Cryptonews Identifies Suspect in BTER Hack on: February 17, 2015, 02:01:21 PM
These idiots probably just looked on the blockchain and googled the first IP address they saw.

WOW so irresponsible to just name and shame someone without even a scant of evidence besides an IP
that anyone who has a clue should know, means nothing.

The article has been rewritten so that it isn't so blatantly wrong. They are still accusing the same person even though they have no evidence. The accusation is now an "update" even though it was part of the original story.

This is journalism at its worst.

What do you expect from these shitty sites? They've got to get their traffic from somewhere. Hope this guy sues them then maybe they will consider actually fact checking their articles on future.

209  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The Bter Exchange Cold Wallet return to zero.... on: February 15, 2015, 04:02:04 PM
Will they be refunding all the stolen bitcoins or will declare bankcruptcy ?

They will not be able to realistically return those coins even if they wanted to. They're done as an exchange now. Nobody will use them.
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BTER offers $180,000 reward for returning stolen bitcoins! on: February 15, 2015, 03:59:38 PM
If it really was a cold wallet then it probably was an inside job, also i think the person who finds 7000+ btc would rather keep it instead of exchanging it for 720 btc. Maybe they offered this reward on purpose to prevent doubts from people thinking bter was behind it, i could be wrong but one thing im sure is that trust with bter is mush less now and people won't be using them anymore, i think Bter is done.

I agree on all points. Very likely an inside job though maybe the owners don't realize it, though I'm sure this is just an excuse and attempt at trying to look innocent. Bter is done. Why would anyone use them, not to mention they'd have to pay people back which isn't realistical.
211  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Terrorist Attack in Denmark on: February 15, 2015, 03:49:13 PM
The whole of Europe seems to be under siege.  Angry

Because of a couple of shootings? Funny how it's called terrorism and people lose their shit when Muslims do it, but white people shoot up a school or go on a rampage it's just oh well, shit happens.

Well, it isn't tough to figure out the motive for these shootings by islamist extremists, is it?

A handful of extremists go kill a handful of people and suddenly everyone is calling to stop immigration?

stop all islamic immigration to europe and impose a 1 child policy on those already here, problem solved

Really? What about ones that come for a holiday? Maybe they'll hijack the plane on the way then?

The whole of Europe seems to be under siege.  Angry

i agree with u on this one, immigrants dont have to be bad, 99% of them are doing your country a service by doing jobs your ppl dont want to, and for paychack you would never accept.
and all this terrorism is BS now, there was alot of crazy ppl before, like there are now, but now je just call most of them terrorists.

cheers

Exactly. These people who want to stop or curb immigration drastically will realize what a bad idea it is when the price iof their basic food staples double because there's no one willing to pick them out of the fields.
212  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Snowden: NSA Surveillance About Control on: February 15, 2015, 03:40:34 PM
Of course it is about control. Knowledge is power and they are willing to do what they can to abuse it.

sucks that most americans believe in nothing to fear nothing to hide and don't care if their government uses their tax dollars to spy on them, spineless fucking sheep

They just believe that if this surveillance makes their country a safer place, loss of privacy is a small price to pay for it.

But it doesn't. Do you really think the "terrorists/Bad guys" are really going to use the internet or mobile phones any more? Bin Laden didn't because he knew the dangers. All this sort of mass surveillance does is push the enemies further underground and cause them to operate off the grid whilst punishing everyone else who has their emails and calls logged or recorded just in case it might catch a sloppy "terrorist".
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STAHP USING ONLINE EXCHANGES/WALLETS on: February 15, 2015, 03:29:29 PM
Whilst I believe we need to move to decentralized exchanges centralized ones are currently a necessary evil so keeping your coins on them is also necessarily if you want to trade. Blaming users isn't really fair either as they're the only option for most, though I wouldn't use them for this exact reason but I don't currently need to. Hopefully sometime soon decentralized exchanges will become the standard so things like this become extinct.
214  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTER - I want my money back ! on: February 15, 2015, 03:14:21 PM
How can their cold wallet have been compromised??

Inside job likely though they'll probably blame it on hackers or something. Anyone who loses money from their cold wallets needs to look at whoever has access to them.
215  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-02-14] Medium: Bitcoin could reach $34,400 - Roger Ver on: February 15, 2015, 03:11:09 PM
Anyone think it's pointless speculating on the price? I don't know why people make specific predictions like this. Sure, it could become worth 34k but I doubt it and not unless we get huge mainstream adoption.

Winklevoss bro's say $100K and Roger Ver says $34K.

Of course I would love to see Bitcoin anywhere in the range they quote.

But is it realistic....? Hmm, not sure. Probably not.  Cheesy

I think a few thousand is very possible within a few years, though I'd rather just wait and see what happens. People are too preoccupied with the price and should concentrate on adoption.

I think it's another thing to do when we get bored, but I agree we should focus on moving projects forward and less time babbling about what could happen.  Let's get out there and make things happen!

Then there must be a lot of bored people here  Grin. I think it's mostly wishful thinking. Bitcoin certainly has the potential to be worth several thousands but it all depends on the rest of the world paying interest.

Winklevoss bro's say $100K and Roger Ver says $34K.

I'd love bitcoin to go to 10k as I'd be a millionaire, but I can't see it happening. I'd be happy at 1000 again though.
216  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTER - I want my money back ! on: February 15, 2015, 02:56:25 PM
dont store large sums on an exchange. try to use a hardware-wallet. good luck anyway.

This isn't really possible if you're an active trader but this is one of the reasons we desperately need to move to decentralized exchanges. People should be able to safely keep hold of their own coins until they're happy with a buy order they're willing to exchange for.
217  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-02-13] CD: Bitcoin Payments Still Power 5% of Porn.com Sales on: February 15, 2015, 02:48:45 PM
I'm surprised that in this day and age that people still actually pay for it. With all the free stuff out there I suppose the regulars ultimately feel like they need to keep purchasing newer and different experiences. But like someone said, this stuff will always be in demand so the users should get with the program and pay for it the right way in this day and age.

I think the porn/sex industry is actually missing out by not accepting bitcoin. Camsites are another way bitcoin can be utilized. Paypal refuses to work with them and this is where bitcoin can step in and with the minimal fees both the consumer and company benefit not to mention you don't have to give your personal details.
218  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The Bter Exchange Cold Wallet return to zero.... on: February 15, 2015, 02:45:10 PM
We really need to get away for centralized exchanges and move towards decentralized ones. Until we do thefts and hacks like this will continue to happen.

How is possible to stole btc from cold wallet?

I thought it was impossible but Mark Karples says different.

Ha. But cold wallets aren't immune to inside jobs, which is probably what the Mt.gox situation was.
219  Economy / Speculation / Re: Any reason for the small pop in price? on: February 15, 2015, 02:37:52 PM
People buying coins.

That is the most probable and obvious reason.

IS there ever any other reason. People always look for answers asking why, but there often times is no mysterious cause other than more people buying at a higher price.

I think it may be the google payment system implementing bitcoin, news

Bingo I think you might be right. It's annoying this got moved to speculation cause I wasn't wondering about the price move but the possible News that that be causing it.

There is no news of google integrating bitcoin. None that I could find.

That was just rumour based on baseless speculation. I doubt it's going to happen.
