the thread is quiet now

coins don't sleep but devs probably yes Smiley maybe great news tomorrow about to cut pow, stay tuned!

cut pow should be very simple I think, just remove some code. Key is to get most people upgraded.

So do you want another hard-fork to cut PoW totally from dev team?

I think this is a good idea... my only concern is that we may need 3-5 days to do another mandatory upgrade, and after it, there will be only 5 more days for 256 coins/block, then it will be 128 coins/block, so the hardfork is not really needed in this case.

only 322 PoW block left before halve...

People will understand that this coin has the real anonymous wallet technology implemented and will be in main network soon. It is real and not just in dev's imaginations. Notice for other coins there are so many promises with timeline missed or no timelines at all.

+1, well said

dev

how many time left for first halve?

thanks

about 12 hours

See clockcoin, today he is added directly to the Mintpal.
So we don't have to vote, we need more new technology, we can try out a video to explain our works.
In addition, I think we need to design a beautiful website.
Thanks dev. Grin
Ok cool, we can try this as well.

Yes we need more promo!
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPER] Testnet Anon Wallet|Super POS|Super Fast|FUD Cleared|Halve Soon on: June 19, 2014, 06:09:45 AM
only 3 days left
Announcing the SuperCoin Logo Design Contest!
Supercoin is looking for an updated logo design. Once we select the winner, we'll need it in .png format on transparency in the following sizes:
- 543 x 468 pixels to be used on the wallet splash screen
- 400 x 250 pixels to be used inside of our wallet
- 300 x 300 pixels to be used on exchanges and OP

Our contest requirements are simple:
- We would like a minimum of five (5) entries. Post your logo in our Bitcointalk thread between 6/8/14 thru 6/22/14.
- We are interested in keeping the classic "superman" diamond theme.
- A metallic, steel, or iron influenced treatment to communicate security and strength.
- Darker colors for a more serious tone, though this is optional.
- The final decision will be made by the Supercoin Team.
- Superman logo is trademarked do not use it. Make it original.
Bounty: 5120 SUPER coin (10 blocks) + being winner in a contest

SUPER is great!

Hi I give up. Macs are so annoying trying to find the file is hard enough then on windows, how do I transfer the coins sent to that unsynced wallet to another address??? I've changed the mining address to my windows wallet now,

Thanks a lot for your help

Hi Krushang, no worries! It's very easy on Mac OS X:

1. Close your client.

2. Launch Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder
Code:
~/Library/Application Support/SuperCoin

3. Put your supercoin.conf file in this folder, launch client and let it sync.

I've prepared the sample config of the ANN for your convenience, you may download it here.

I can't find the folder, ??

Open a console and do 'cd ~/Library/Application Support'
do a 'ls' and see if you have SuperCoin dir, if not, start supercoin client and then exit it, the SuperCoin dir should be created. Be careful about the case.

Buyers pushing right back. Eating up those miner dumps!

SUPER is very under valued now. It's market cap is about 1/20 of that of XC, and 1/200 of that Darkcoin. These 3 coins have anon features in tests, none in the main network now (correct me if I am wrong - DRK has a main network "candidate" build).

SUPER may have anon feature in the real network in 2 weeks, not sure when XC will have. I think SUPER needs more promo, so people know this nice little hidden treasure there Smiley

I downloaded the link, and it downloads in terminal but still no success,

Appdata ?? On mac
should be like this one but i am not a mac users, maybe community better advice.

Finder -> Go {Hold Option] -> Library -> supercoin
 (~/Library/Application Support/supercoin/)

/Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/

try please, and make sure to open & close wallet it may take some time to sync.

It's different on mac, but thanks,

I've sent all my mined coins to that wallet Sad

Any mac users here ? Need to sync my wallet to receive my coin
In mac conf dir should be at:
~/Library/Application Support/SuperCoin
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPER] Testnet Anon Wallet|Super POS|Super Fast|FUD Cleared|Halve Soon on: June 17, 2014, 06:58:06 PM
- Initial block payout (512 coins/block) will be halved at 20 block-day.
- Starting from 256 coins/block, the block payout will be halved every 10 block-days.

Can you explain that, please? What in particular are block-days?

At PoW block 19200 we will see first halve 256
at PoW block  28800 (19200 + 9600) blocks later halve 128
at PoW block  38400 (28800+ 9600) blocks later halve 64
and so on ... when block rewards reaches 1-2 it'll be shut off and no more PoW coins generation.
Rest of coins will be made by PoS.

nice. people will realize the value of SUPER!

wat eva  people can read for themselves
i;ve wasted enough time already
have fun

gtfo noob.

Dev what is status with busoni
I have not got any answer from him, still.

Although Busoni issued an apology (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=652351.msg7319548#msg7319548), it is not enough. They need to give a conclusion of their investigation: is Supercoin good or bad, do they find any issues, if at all? If no issues or no major issues, and since Supercoin was the first in voting list, they should add it to Poloniex, this is the only way they can clear all their mistakes.

Their debacle caused many investors to lose money, we demand an explanation from them on the conclusion of their investigation of supercoin!

But now I don't see any conclusions, and they have kept the title of that thread ("Why Poloniex Has Rejected SuperCoin" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=652351.0), in a very misleading way. This title is translated to "We have rejected a bad coin", but what is bad? They did not or can not say anything (because Supercoin is a great coin!).

Before this is done, I can't see Busoni's apology is sincere at all. We demand Poloniex give a clear explanation on it!

+1. Yes absolutely!

makes a lot sense to me. Waiting for busoni to explain, clarify and correct...
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Poloniex Has Rejected SuperCoin on: June 15, 2014, 07:25:46 PM
Code:
static const int64_t MAX_MONEY = 150000000 * COIN;
static const int64_t POW_MAX_MONEY = 50000000 * COIN;

There is a huge misconception out there that MAX_MONEY sets the total coin count for a coin. This is false. MAX_MONEY sets the maximum amount of coins that can be sent in a single transaction over a network. It is customary to typically set this to the maximum coins that will be created but it is not necessary.

We have played around and tested this to verify it on the DigiByte testnet before. We made sure this was the case.

The actual reward is determined here between lines 1033 & 1082: https://github.com/supercoinproject/supercoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp

Code:
// miner's coin base reward
int64_t GetProofOfWorkReward(int nHeight, int64_t nFees, const CBlockIndex* pindex)
{
int64_t nSubsidy = 512 * COIN;

if(nHeight == 1)
nSubsidy = INITIAL_OFFERING_PERCENTAGE * POW_MAX_MONEY;

if(nHeight > LAST_POW_BLOCK)
return 0;

int nPoWHeight = GetPowHeight(pindex) + 1;
printf(">> nHeight = %d, nPoWHeight = %d\n", nHeight, nPoWHeight);

int nReduceFactor = 0;
if(nPoWHeight < SWITCHOVER_POW_BLOCK)
{
nReduceFactor = nPoWHeight / 43200;

if(nReduceFactor > 9)
nSubsidy = nMinSubsidy;
else
nSubsidy >>= nReduceFactor;
}
else
{
if(nPoWHeight < 19200)
nSubsidy = 512 * COIN;
else if(nPoWHeight < 28800)
nSubsidy = 256 * COIN;
else if(nPoWHeight < 38400)
nSubsidy = 128 * COIN;
else if(nPoWHeight < 48000)
nSubsidy = 64 * COIN;
else if(nPoWHeight < 57600)
nSubsidy = 32 * COIN;
else if(nPoWHeight < 67200)
nSubsidy = 16 * COIN;
else if(nPoWHeight < 76800)
nSubsidy = 8 * COIN;
else if(nPoWHeight < 86400)
nSubsidy = 4 * COIN;
else if(nPoWHeight < 96000)
nSubsidy = 2 * COIN;
else
nSubsidy = 1 * COIN;
}

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}

To find the exact coin coin count you would need to do the math and add everything up in there.

For a comparison this is where Bitcoins maximum coin supply is determined. Once again you have to calculate it out to prove it is 21 million.
Code:
int64_t GetBlockValue(int nHeight, int64_t nFees)
{
    int64_t nSubsidy = 50 * COIN;
    int halvings = nHeight / Params().SubsidyHalvingInterval();

    // Force block reward to zero when right shift is undefined.
    if (halvings >= 64)
        return nFees;

    // Subsidy is cut in half every 210,000 blocks which will occur approximately every 4 years.
    nSubsidy >>= halvings;

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}

EDIT: We are not defending Supercoin (had never heard of them until this post) nor have we done the exact math in their code. We simply wanted to point out a common misconception to avoid future issues for everyone.

Thanks for the information

It's indeed a very common misconception

I'm also new to Supercoin. It appears that it becomes famous now after this incident   Cheesy

Look like this time Poloniex has given away some free advertising to this coin

The facts are there, explained very clearly:

This is called SLOPPY CODING you noobs.
Code:
if (dAmount <= 0.0 || dAmount > 150000000.0)
Code:
static const int64_t MAX_MONEY = 150000000 * COIN;
static const int64_t POW_MAX_MONEY = 50000000 * COIN;

This is how to do it, without hardcoding values
Code:
if (dAmount <= 0.0 || dAmount > MAX_MONEY)

But then, too much greed to see the truth  Grin

That value (150 million) is left over from SUPER's initial specs, prior to the recent fork. That line of code is innocuous. Read the thread, Polo-shill.

+1

MAX_MONEY is non issue, this has been repeated multiple times in the thread.

At this point Busoni stuck his neck out and made a post on code he himself did not fully understand at all. Unfortunately for him his comments were incorrect and the code is clean, looks like he already knows this, based on his backpedaling posts once it was verified by other parties that it was incorrect.

Its just Amateur moves, all new entrepreneurs make stupid mistakes like this early in their career, it either makes them or breaks them.

The take away here is, if you discover a "securtiy hole' prior to disclosing it publicly, one may review all the code that is affected in their software ecosystem. The entire process of disclosing security holes must be take serious[1], especially when you are dealing with high volume of BTC.  He could of just said, "we found out super coin has funky code, and upon further research we found out that 70% of the other coins listed on our exchange suffer from the same venerability, we will look into the matter". Off course if he the above statement  massive panic would ensue, and it would be difficult for poloneix recover, but not impossible. Tough decisions.

If busoni was acting in good faith of the community as he has repeated many times in this thread, then he would just clean up his OP, apologize and say that his initial comments were way off with his findings, it was dumb to post with out it being verified by multiple sources,  and that he did not hire an expert in to conduct the coder review. Or he can just ignore it, and pray that we all forget in a few days how unprofessional their exchange currently looks to the community.

 [1] https://www.schneier.com/essays/archives/2007/01/schneier_full_disclo.html

Again, the facts are listed here:

I showed how the MAX_MONEY is used in the code:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=652351.msg7315515#msg7315515

and how total coin is calculated:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=652351.msg7315840#msg7315840

Busoni made irresponsible claims on SUPER, he should apologize to the community. This was an event that degraded a lot Poloniex. Correct it now, otherwise it will just give people impression that Poloniex is very incompetent.

Yes the facts are posted in the 2 above links, why people continue to argue? Nothing to argue, everything is clear! If you understand the code, go read it, otherwise read the above two posts.

This is hands down the best logo in Cypto... Great name also!

Please move forward with the rebranding and fix the website asap. It looks quite cheap/unprofessional...Definite not what you would expect from a multimillion dollar company. Although the content is quite impressive. With this logo, we can have the best/slickest website in Cypto.

Great job so far, guys!!  Grin

I'd be careful and not use this logo, it's too close to Superman's logo, and that may get us into trademark trouble. I guess we should remove the diamond shape inside the coin.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPER] SuperCoin - Anon Wallet in Testnet Released Now on: June 15, 2014, 07:09:24 PM
All the exchange actions are traders' actions. We had 210 BTC trading volume at Bittrex, clearly it is not due to multipools' dump. Daily generated new SUPERs will worth 1-2 BTC maybe?? a very minor factor that can be ignored.

BTW, the SUPER PoW payout will be halved soon, in a few days I think.
