201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now that Bitcoin is no longer digital cash? on: April 17, 2024, 01:37:49 PM
Who said bitcoin is not longer digits cash?

Is it because we are seeing a lot of people using bitcoin more as an investment?

Personally, no matter what happens in the market it doesn't change the nature of bitcoin, bitcoin still remains a digital cash for payments purposes and also an asset that can be used as alternative for physical investments or for privacy focus investment.

The volatility of bitcoin has not changed it's initial purpose it's only crested another opportunity for the everyday opportunist to captivate on it and make cool profits especially in a long term.
202  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Airgapped device for Electrum installation on: April 17, 2024, 08:40:08 AM
You can not achieve an airgapped devices without formatting the said device, there is no guarantee that a device can be safe enough to be called airgapped devices if not formatted or reinstalling the windows.

It's true that not all malware can be removed by just formatting a device or by reinstalling a new windows but it's a better to do so as to reduce the chance of your device and assets safety. It's always said that there is no 100% safe place but at least some safety measures are better than others.
Note: There is no need to assume too much, Airgapping a devices means it cannot have an access to the internet and to achieve this the already internet activities must be clear by formatting and installing a new windows, so the word Airgapping cannot be complete without a complete formatting and/or erasing the already existing internet activities/connections.

I think we should be talking about safety in the concept of the topic instead of privacy. Most people prefer Linux for a better security or the said Tails OS because they are most safe than the others not that you can not achieve a level of safety with windows and MacOS but in the area of safety you most know that we have different levels of safety, one is higher than the other so Linux and Tails OS is higher than Windows and MacOS but they can still offer security based on how you use them.

If you really want to create an air gapped wallet, why take the risk of using a closed source wallets like windows with a lot of vulnerabilities and back doors.
Note; Windows are not wallets. You made a mistake there, it could be confusing for a newbie when reading the for for the first time. So correct. It's Operating System
203  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I sent BTC to the wrong wallet address on: April 15, 2024, 11:40:56 PM
I'm surprised nobody is really saying the truth here!

This is obviously a scam. It's just a strategy that most scammers have developed to use in communities where bitcoin and/or crypto is being discussed as to find victims in a smarter way.

I have seen this somewhere on Reddit but I can't find it and here too it is, OP, I'm sorry to say this I don't think the owner of the wallet address ( account as you put it) is here in BTT forum.

I believe we will be seeing this in frequent time as BTT has a large number traffic so it's a target form scammers.

You can try other places.
204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who's winning more casinos or gamblers? on: April 15, 2024, 11:34:42 PM
First thing we need to acknowledge is that, as long as the casino have the house edge advantage, there will always be at advantage over the gambler and that is the reason their are still in business, and as a matter of fact casino are revenue oriented and for such will always put system in place to check whatever method that will always put tham in profits.
On a normal basis nobody runs a business for losses but only and majorly for profit making, this includes running a casino shop as a business it requires for sure a profit making strategy whether the customers gain or loss it most make profit in one way or the other.
Hence I believe the casinos make much more profit than what we see as the winners gain from them.
A lot of casinos just need customers to keep patronizing them its none of their business whether we gamblers make profit or not they are good.
205  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you achieved anything from gambling on: April 15, 2024, 11:24:02 PM
You will rarely see people say they have achieved any thing from gambling especially those who are very responsible gamblers because they just wager around with little funds which they can afford to lose hence they don't bet or gamble for the money but majorly for fun.

Although I have seen an influencer from my country who gambles and his day to day business is just gambling, so he shows off his cars, houses, etc achieved as a result of gambling and apart from that I have seen his screenshots of bets stake and I can say that it's worth his achievements because he stakes an amount can't even invest in some kind of risky business but he uses it to stake in one game.

Personally, I believe you can only see a little to none, people who truly achieve alot in gambling, for me the most times I have won a bet or from the crash game which like to play, I have rarely thought of something useful to do with the money, highest I have done is to restock the house with enough food items and buy some data bundles. Aside this there is not evidence I can show to prove how productive my gambling life has been.
206  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Governments projecting war and having lives of the innocents at stake on: April 15, 2024, 10:53:27 PM
It's obvious that most governments do not have their citizens in mind rather they act according to their selfish wills. According to a french social scientist Jean-François Bayart, he said in french that we are operating a politics of the belly (politique du ventre). What he meant by this is that the current governments in control of most countries are only seeking for food to feed their selves, never having the populous in mind.

I feel so bad for the people in any the two countries because they will keep living in fear as they don't know what to expect yet as their governments are using them for fulfill their own aims of supremacy.
How can a group of cartels gamble with the lives of citizens, for what the believe is revenge, it's very difficult to absorb as this behaviours are to be expected from psychopaths, except they are forcing us to believe that they are all psychopaths whom the power mistakenly fall into their hands hence the misuse of power is understandable. Perhaps a I hope is that this ingrates that has the monopoly of force to do what they like don't cause a world war 3 with the stupid actions they are taking.
207  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why democracy is stalling in Africa on: April 15, 2024, 04:27:01 PM
Military rule has been a big issue in Africa from history but it began to die off when most leading countries in Africa had good and genuine leaders who help to fight against military rule which was monstrous and barbaric in nature. If Nigeria in particular still has its best president ever in sit till today the Africa nations would have been experiencing progress day after day. Since the dismissal of our hero in Nigeria the democracy in Africa not just Nigeria alone has turn into the politics of the stomach. Almost all the leaders going into sit in Africa are all there for the solely aim of feeding themselves instead of serving the people as intended.

Africans still prefer democracy because it's the only way to give power to the people but it has been manipulated in Africa where most leaders misuse power for themselves. When the militaries in Africa sees a hole in the leader of democracy they use it as an opportunity to take over the government and force a lot of people to go under their rules and if eventually someone goes against the rules they turn out to execute the person with a coup, and sometimes they make this coups in disguise, using accidents as excuse but in the obvious it's a coup.

On a personal level, I believe external forces are also contributors to this underground African wars and/or crisis because most weapons are shipped from popular countries mostly the Russia and America and for the sake of their business to keep sailing they them to pressure the wars to continue, this has been happening under the noses of Africans all because the good leaders has been lost and the rest are afraid to speak the truth because they took bribe (corruption) from the incumbent leaders hence they do not have decision force anymore to preach against bad leadership. This corruption is what has been attracting the military rules in Africa once again and if time isn't taken we might end up having a ww3 in coming years because of the world powerful countries will be contributing to the improper actions in Africa.

I have become so emotional that I can't stop writing if I continue I will have to fill the whole space with my post, let me leave the space for others to share their thoughts. I believe the hope in African will rise again when my country Nigeria experience a better leader who will be sincere and have the capacity to impact in other Africa countries too.
208  Economy / Economics / Re: Invest on your dependants if you too must grow further on: April 14, 2024, 10:56:56 AM
There is a popular quote that says until everyone around you is rich then your still poor. It's same thing here with your concept, we must always elevate the people around us to be free financially, if you're the only person free financially it turns out that you will not still be free in a short time because you will tend to lift all the bills from your household on yourself which I consider as same as suicide.

If you want to be successful then your people have to be successful, you have to take care of your family, friends etc that as so dear to you to the next level for you to go more high. In general we should always extend our hands to people who needs it as it will guarantee our success too.
209  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is not a lifetime job. on: April 14, 2024, 10:39:04 AM
I will only agree to the first one.

I know a lot of people will quite trading because of the mental stress that comes with it. Especially when you think too much of a thing, most traders can stay over days thinking of their past mistakes that would have changed their lives forgetting the next day, I find this one more convincing than the rest of them.

For sure, trading can not be a life time job, here in location I see a lot of traders who after making some kind of convincing profit they push it to another investment like buying bitcoin in bulk, or some go into gold market with intention to hold this golds for long term while majority government into real estate with the profits. I think that's the best think to do because at some point one may not be able to continue with the struggle of the market but from the investment in things like real estate they will not have to go into market anymore.
210  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: April 14, 2024, 10:22:25 AM
The price of Bitcoin is down a bit now, many newbies may have panic sold their holdings right now.
You are actually right on the part that most newbies will have likely sold their holdings out of fear.
I have seen a lot of you assuming too much, but I will captivate on this two quotes above. The statement here is quite vague because their are no proves and/or evidence to the statements that newbies will be selling their coins as a result of the little dips in the market. So times I like to be sceptical and rational in thinking because it helps to widen and sharpen people's perspective in a course.

From the news that was speculated to be the result of the little dips we saw in the market some hours ago, I believe it's not just only newbies selling their coins, it could be anyone as long as their is panic. Even experienced people sometimes do not have the patience to stay for long, meanwhile some newbies could still stay longer than the OGs in some situations, so that I'm saying in essence is let's not captive it on newbies only because there is no solid evidence that shows that it's newbies that would be selling their coins as a result of the volatile market.
211  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: The Risk wey I take during 2022 Flood on: April 14, 2024, 09:57:57 AM
Safety is a paramount issue in the society, it's as important as the food we eat everyday. Most people don't take it serious not because they are ignorant of what can happen but because sometimes they do not feel it's necessity at that point, in Nigeria untill we see the result of something even if we are told a million times we would still ignore the obvious.

As for the people you dey take about for village. In Africa we have a way of life that is quite different from the white man's culture but as for the globalization that has been taking place we no longer regard our own culture but see it as dumb ideas. As for the people who go fishing in rivers, you rarely hear anything sad happened to them in the cost of fishing because they have a prerequisite that they take into account before going for fishing, I'm not from the riverine areas but I know this because Africans a more smart than you can imagine. I believe before a kid can be taking along side for fishing the kid must have passed through a series of exercises and tests to know if he or she can cope with the rules for fishing, this rules can be that the kid must be able to swim across the river at every instance etc. the prerequisites has been what has guided Africa for millions of years.

So for the people in the village whether they have the life jacket or not they still do very well in their own unique ways. For your own storey of how you took your family during the flood. I call such risk as the unnecessary risk.
212  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: We Regret Voting Tinubu – Northern Elders on: April 14, 2024, 03:11:43 AM
For me with the way I know this country all this na just to make the government very relevant at this point I believe say people supposed don know how this people dey get shadow party behind all this noise wey dem dey make.

The Northern Elders Forum na cartel of Muslims or people wey dey in charge of bringing out people who them select to be their representative in the government. If dem bring you them expect you to serve dem with all you got and I believe them follow for the people wey tinubu bribe to achieve the primary result so at the end now them don take money vote am for primary den them get deal wey dem no fit accomplish because the current president no dey take advise from anybody, hence it has turn bad for them as the Northerners but all the same dem just dey seek relevance for the public make e be like the government they try for only one side of the country forgetting them.
213  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Time waits for nobody. on: April 14, 2024, 03:05:28 AM
Na the same thing wey we dey always take say procrastination na the big enemy of success. As soon as you start to talk say you do am later na so you begin to dey fail without your notice. Na true say time no dey wait for anybody, anything wey you no fit do now e go hard you to do am even if the time come just as you been dey anticipate am.

It's very important to do things in time because e go help you to dey ahead of people as soon as you begin to do things ahead of time you go begin dey ready for everything whether, e dey necessary to do am or not you go stand out of the crowd because of how prepared you are.

One thing I learnt be say make I no dey depend on nobody whether na my family or not I believe say nobody go hold my hand to climb, I gats climbed before them go look me to push me even if I climb dem no push me I go still continue on my own. Na the biggest motivation be that, one thing wey I see for successful people be say dem no dey fear to loss anything whether na their friends or not dem no care na so E supposed dey. You gats dey courageous to do anything you want, as long as you get the strength, highest you start early you achieve am.

So the total thing be same make we try dey do things as fast as possible make time no mess us up.
214  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: I Say Make I remind Una About this Matter on: April 14, 2024, 01:37:26 AM
As for this matter of AI generated texts I don dey get one bad feeling say most of this guys for reputation board just get one kind of heart to ruin people account with small suspects we no dey really self, even if na true e no reach to give person reg tag but na their works.

I don also check my writings for AI plagerism checker and e show 38 percent AI generated and this one na because I speck English we I dey use regularly but I just dey wonder how this people dey really determine whether true there own na to just dey trace things wey no make sense.

I don decide say I go dey reduce my rate of mean English because this AIs dem dey loss guard sometimes make them no go implicate you for nonsense.
215  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Crypto is really helping on: April 14, 2024, 01:19:51 AM
Na true say cryptocurrency don help alot of people, I have seen lots of billionaires or millionaires in dollars and naira who made it all from crypto investment although behind the scene them get jobs wey them dey do so them no dey depend on the daily bread wey cryptocurrencies dey bring only but them dey even get more than two source of income. So it's good make person wey dey into crypto also try as much as possible to get job even if no be company work but a work that can hold you with or without your side hustle.

Now for the case of man know man or vacancy reservation, I no sure that part go fit stop in a hast flr this country because everyday dem they do am. Some are religious beliefs biased, some are for family members but the truth remains that even if it's we that are complaining we will still do the same.
216  Economy / Economics / Re: Governments and their irrelevant projects just to steal public funds on: April 14, 2024, 12:53:41 AM
I understand what you mean OP, but alot of people do not get it clear as you didn't provide enough details to what the discussion is about. But for people like that understands I will definitely contribute to the said topic.

Most times I repeat this statements that in every decision taking by some government, there is a shadow party somewhere. Governments sometimes creates projects that could fetch the cartels millions in there pocket over night especially at the end of their tenure and if watched closely this case which you are specifically referring to was conducted at the end of their tenure, it's typical a means to milk the country before leaving the position of executive president.

Since I have come to understand that the country is beginning to look like a joke to the elites I have made decisions not to give ears to whatever strategy that they will develop.
217  Economy / Economics / Re: Counting the cost of a ww3. on: April 14, 2024, 12:35:45 AM
Wars always have a bad effect on the life of people as things become more harder for the survival of citizens, that's why wars are not to be anticipated at any cost because its negative effect is very high that alot people will have to loss almost everything they've got to the war.

I have been seeing some pop up news saying the recent decrease in price of bitcoin is as a result of the Iran attack on Israel but I don't know how true it is but what I'm tryna say is wars will have bad effects on the price of bitcoin in a short term but it will also have a positive impact on it as people will rather sell their properties and hold them in bitcoin or people will rather put their investments in bitcoin as it's compatible in everywhere making it stand out and that could lead to a more demand in the market that might increase the values of bitcoin in the market.
218  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If there was no government to govern us (humans) on: April 14, 2024, 12:10:33 AM
Quote from: AVE5
My interest is ... Could we (humans) had lived a peaceful soul here on earth without a governing body and no laws?
Yes, some of the things that is causing humans not to live in peace in the country are from the government because they are not doing what will favour majority of the citizens, and it has led many people to commit some crimes that caused them death and some are in the prison in the country.

For example, just look at animals around you, do animals have government? No, are they not living in peace among themselves, for you to know that our governments are behind the peace of a nation, and it will take a long years before people will realize it.

Assume there is no governments in the whole world today, this global inflation that is affecting everybody would have not be there for people to experience so long because people would have solve their problems without waiting for the governments to solve it for them.
I don't know where you got your inspiration from but I put it to you that you're absolutely wrong with that perception that humans can live a peaceful life with a government.

Let's that with the accounts of creation in the holy bible, when God was done creating everything, he thought of one thing which is leadership (government in our own word) that he decided to create man to be the government over all the creations. That's just one example.

Using the animals as you said, if you watch animals closely you will discover that because they don't have a government to govern them they tend to hurt themselves, kill and eat themselves at every moment. That is exactly what you're expecting of humans for not having a government.

Let's go further, according one of the popular philosophers called Thomas Hobbes, he said life without a government, will be Nasty, Poor, Solitary, Brutish and short. As a result of violet from struggle for survival. Hence we will live a life of survival of the fittest (strong). So, with this few examples I hope you know that life without a government is not an option.
219  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The governments are conscienceless on: April 13, 2024, 11:55:06 PM
What's the interest of a government to the masses in a situation where the nation is experiencing inflations with a poor economy system and the same circle, the masses are crawling to survive but yet the government feels no remorse and yet they in time increases taxes values and utilities bills making it more frustrating and worsening the situation for the poor masses.
In the world today, the governments are to be blamed for almost everything that happens in the country even the ones we cause by ourselves we still put them government just because we feel they are responsible for the day to day running if the economy.

Yes the government is corrupt and but when things happen we tend you use every if the opportunity to get explore our fellow citizen but yet we blame the government. So I believe we are both responsible for every thing that is happening to us, not just the government.

But sometimes, the government will have to take hard decision to favour us in one way or the other, although they try to enrich themselves but at the end they still put a little effort to do things right.
220  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Education seems to have failed in some developing country on: April 13, 2024, 11:38:51 PM
The problem isn't the graduates wanting a job after graduation but it has to do with the educational system, using Nigeria as you said as a case study, the educational system was programmed to enslave the knowledge of the graduates to always seek for jobs. The learning process is not a productive one that we should expect graduates to know what to do after graduation, since they are thought how to be come works all the days of their lives when they come out they focus more on that area and if can observe closely those who have made greater impact in life generally has always been drop outs. Most of them quit the study because they found out that it's not what they believe in and hence they leave instead of their brains to be tangled with the lectures they get. Not that they are illiterates but they are not to be workers in life and that lead them to quit the schooling and focus more in life than class.

This perception has continued and have raveged the society today that most youths when entering the university they quickly make research on what industry their area of study (major) in school will lead to work in, some when they find out it has no much requirements in the society they quickly move to other majors. But in the reality your educational qualification does not guarantee anything in life. If I have my way there is absolutely nothing I would be doing in the university now, I would have been better chasing the bag as I have been doing.

Until the educational system is changed to produce productive graduates than aggressive graduates then the world of graduates will be a better place.
