201  Other / Meta / Re: Is gambling problem or anything related to addiction is an off-topic? on: April 05, 2024, 02:49:32 PM
The way I see it, if it's a topic about addiction in general then it can be "off-topic" or "politics and society", but if it's strictly on gambling addiction, I think the best place for a topic like that is in the gambling discussion board. I don't think there's any gambler on this forum that doesn't visit the gambling board so what better place would you place a topic on gambling addiction so the target audience can see it? I guess the moderator has his reasons, but I feel a topic about gambling addiction should be in the gambling discussion.

Just like @Oshosondy said, I guess the moderators are tired of seeing topics of gambling addiction, but I don't think a topic like that can be overemphasized. Gambling addiction is a problem and all we can do is create more awareness about it. It doesn't mean we'll keep creating the same topics, but different people have different views on a particular matter.
202  Economy / Economics / Re: How does one know and join the right community after a job loss? on: April 05, 2024, 06:08:31 AM
From my perspective, you have to hit the ground running immediately. No time for time wasting. If you lost a previous job it means you have experience, so use that experience. Update your CV and cover letter and start applying for more jobs that you fit the role. See yourself as worthy of those high-paying roles if you have the qualifications and experience, don't see yourself as small. Believe in yourself that you deserve the best.

You mentioned that you have a skill. A skill you've not used over the years. What to do is brush up on those skills. I don't care what skill it, is or how good you were at that skill, if you haven't practiced you must be rusty. So start practicing that skill again, start learning again, till when you feel you're better and ready to take jobs from clients. If it's a digital skill you can register on sites like Upwork, freelancer, and Fiverr. The downside is, on these sites you need to have a good portfolio before you can stand a higher chance of getting clients. So I'd advise you to take normal jobs, but at lower rates, and if possible, do free jobs for friends and family just to build your portfolio. You can include jobs like that as your past work.
Then make use of social media. Create digital fliers and advertise on social media sites. You can also use social media advertising like Facebook and YouTube ads. Create awareness about your skills.
Mind you, you have to keep searching for jobs and applying while also marketing your skills. There are different sites to look for jobs like Indeed and LinkedIn where you also get email notification of jobs that fit your job description. So create accounts on these and include your CV. Make it look professional. If you can't create a top-notch CV, get a professional to do it for you. In fact, I won't advise you to do your CV yourself because there are tests that CVs go through and a lot of CV fail the test.

I'm not saying doing these will guarantee you a job, but a perfect CV and cover letter, applying for jobs, and marketing your skills online and offline increase your chances of getting a job.

Now along the way in your job search journey, you begin to meet people and platforms of people just like you or who were like you. Learn from them. There's always something to learn.
Also, you can use the opportunity to pick up another skill, if this is possible. It could be a skill that will increase your chances of getting hired, I mean a skill that compliments what you have on your CV, a skill that makes you stand out. It could also be a different skill altogether. Maybe you picked an interest in it along the way. It wouldn't hurt to start learning it but have a long-term plan. Take it one day at a time, but have a team plan for that skill. What do you want to do with the skill? How does it benefit you? What's the market for that skill like? Do you have the resources to start that skill after learning? Questions like these and more should be answered.
203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 04, 2024, 11:10:14 PM
If we talk about betting, then you probably need to have nerves of steel to bet in such a game and watch how the score changes from 2-0 to 2-3 and then to 4-3 (at those moments when many people had simply turned off the TV).

I predicted that game both teams to score over 2.5 goals. I was a bit worried but when Chelsea scored 2 I was relaxed because I knew Man United would score too. I couldn't predict who the winner would be because both teams are crackheads but I knew there would be goals. When these two teams meet one always tries to be better than the other.

Ten Hat needs to leave Manchester United at the end of the season. Things are not going well for him and I don't think he can turn it around at United. I don't know what his style of play is, his team plays like people who are lost in the pitch. I agree that the players at United are not good enough, but the coach too is not good enough.

Poch too should leave Chelsea. He might have won today, but in the long run, he has taken this Chelsea team nowhere. These are two coaches that will either voluntarily leave or would be sacked at the end of the season and if they remain at the club, they'll continue to suffer like this is the next season.
204  Other / Off-topic / Re: The challenges of protecting children from gambling on: April 04, 2024, 06:49:25 PM
I think it's irresponsible of a parent to take their kid into a casino or sports betting shop. Parents have a very crucial role to play in this. They have to constantly educate the kids not to gamble and let them know that while gambling is not illegal, it is not allowed for kids below the age to gamble in that jurisdiction making it a crime for them to be involved in gambling, both online and offline. It's just like constantly warning them against smoking.

Also, casinos and sports betting outlets should have a strict policy against underage gambling. If a kid comes to gamble in their shop they should ask for an ID. I know kids can always get fake IDs but that will limit the rate at which they gamble.
Another thing is the government having strict laws against it too. If you allow a kid to gamble in your shop without an ID, you face a penalty. So asking for an ID is a way of freeing yourself from any punishment if it's a fake ID.

A lof of the job of keeping the kid off gambling is the parent's. With advancing technology, parents have to keep looking for ways to build a bridge of trust with their kids so when they tell them not to involve in a thing they listen.
205  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for April on: April 04, 2024, 06:22:38 PM
If you think Bitcoin can increase by $4k to reach $70k, then you should not rule out the possibility of Bitcoin falling by $4k to reach $60k , any scenario is possible. But as investors and holders of bitcoin, we should expect that bitcoin will perform better as the halving event approaches.

I get where you're coming from but the only reason I'm so optimistic is because not only are we in a bull season, but halving is speculated to be a couple of weeks. Surely you know BTC would go higher because of the halving. That's why I said if the halving will have an immediate impact, then it would get to $75k this month, but if it won't, then I believe it will be somewhere around the $70k region. That's actually not a very ridiculous speculation, is it?  Grin

But I'm also a bit worried when everyone is optimistic and believes Bitcoin will increase because the market often goes against the majority, LOL.

Not always though. It's not every time that bitcoin goes against the majority. The majority thought spot wtf would have a positive effect on bitcoin price and it did. The majority believe the halving will have a positive effect on Bitcoin and we've already started seeing the signs.
I'm not usually this sure and optimistic about bitcoin price but recently, I've been pretty optimistic and bullish in my speculation.
206  Other / Meta / Re: AI generated content by newbies on: April 04, 2024, 11:05:19 AM
I used 3 of the AI content-detecting sites in that thread and I got the same result. I usually don't check before but I think I'll do that more often henceforth. Also, before reporting I'll suggest that you leave and advise on the thread so the OP knows that what he's doing is against the laws of the forum just in case he does it again and claims ignorance.

For the AI detection feature, I think it's best if we humans do it ourselves. Check and report. A user might get away with one or two posts, but before long he would be fished out, and when one post has been figured out, other of his posts will be scrutinized too.
If it cannot be exploited and won't complicate things the feature won't be a bad one, but I believe it would be very complicated to build.
207  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for April on: April 04, 2024, 10:43:05 AM
From yesterday when this post was made to today, bitcoin has gone from 65k to 66k, back to 65k again and now it's at 66k again.
If the halving has an immediate effect on the price then I believe BTC will get to 75k this month or somewhere close to that number. What I'm sure of is that Bitcoin price will hit $70k this month.

Reading the comments, I saw that some people believed we would end the month with the same range of price it is now, I don't agree with that. I know that the price has gone down to 66l from the 70k it was at the beginning of the month, but that doesn't it will remain so till the end. We've already seen that the price is rising, slowly though, but still rising. Bitcoin rising an extra 4k into 70k is not ridiculous.
208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 03, 2024, 11:45:26 PM
all of this was caused by the big ambition or very strong desire of the owner of Napoli to be able to win the UCL title instantly but bad management when Spalletti failed to win the title in the UCL but could help Napoli get to the top of the standings to win the Scudetto title but instead the intelligent coach was fired and was replaced by another coach and this is where a big mistake occurred which had very bad consequences making it difficult for his team to win titles in Serie A and other competitions.

To me, I believe Napoli's season is over. They can only fight to get the Europe spot, but I don't think they're going to be able to do that this season.
Napoli's problem can easily be fixed if you ask me. I don't think they made a mistake that will take them years to fix. It only becomes a very big problem when they keep making more mistakes.
Ambition is not a bad thing. Ambition is a very good thing because all successful teams are ambitious and daring. If you make a mistake and fail, you learn from it.

All Napoli needs to do now is find a way to convince their players, especially the star players to stay and convince them of the project so they'll have trust in the project.
Also, they need to look for a good coach. A coach that can handle the team and pressure and they need to back that coach. They need to make like 4-5 quality signings. Players that will trust them a lot to play for a team, not in the Champions League or Europa League. Players like that are often not very good players, but if they work hard enough they can convince good players to join them.
If they do these and are consistent enough next season, they can fight for the league and a place in the Champions League.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 03, 2024, 11:34:19 PM
City were class today, it was an excellent display and they deserved to score all those goals and get the win, i said it before the game that City suffered in the hands of Aston Villa in the first leg, they were completely outplayed and lost, they came into this second leg with a mission and accomplished it. City outplayed and outclassed Unai Emery's men today and they were indeed worthy winners.

In the City game, we know Foden scored a hat trick and has a great performance, but let's take a look at Rodri. What a player he is. He has been Man City's most consistent player this season. He does everything a a midfielder does. He's a backbone to that team.
Today he was giving defense breaking passes and winning the balls, controlling the game. I doubt City would have dominated or even won if he was not on the pitch. He's growing up to be among the best defensive midfielders the world has ever seen.
I rate Busquest ahead of him in the DM/single pivot role but there are qualities that he has that Busquest lacked. Busquest was a more intelligent player all round but Rodri is something else.

City know that the title is no longer in their hands, and all they have to do is keep on winning their games and see what happens,

At this point is going to be very difficult for City to win the league, but City being City will keep fighting. They're going to need both Arsenal and Liverpool to slip up at least twice before they can win the league. This doesn't look like a scenario that can happen but let's see how things unfolds. I doubt that either Arsenal or Liverpool will slip up, tha means Liverpool will win the league. You never can tell though, it's football.
210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 03, 2024, 10:53:42 PM
Against Dortmund is the toughest challenge for Atletico Madrid. Apart from that, they also have to be able to rotate players well because if an important player is seriously injured, of course, it will be detrimental to Atletico Madrid, whether in the UCL or the domestic league, but I'm sure they won't fail to finish. in the top four, it's just that they are probably currently more focused on the UCL and there is still time to maintain their position in the domestic league, especially since the point difference is very narrow, Simeone of course already know what he has to do for Atletico Madrid.

For the UCL, I think Atletico Madrid will win Dortmund. Dortmund is in good form, they play well and are attacking but Dortmund also have a way of bottling when you expect them to step up. Atletico on the other hand love challenges like this. If they had been paired with any other team left in the quarter-final, they would have been a second favorite, but against Dortmund, they're the favorites.
Atletico Madrid is a team that plays together. They attack and defend as a team. You see their strikers and wingers falling back to defend and you also see their CBs up the pitch too. They work as a unit and this makes it very difficult for teams to break them down. This is where Dortmund will have problems.

Atletico Madrid's next game is against Dortmund on the 10th or this month I think. That's like 7 days of rest and enough time to prepare for the game. They have not recorded any new injuries so I think they're fine. They won't be playing any games this weekend too.

When I was new to the forum, it was difficult for me to keep track of my topics and replies except I clicked on "notify me of replies" and this usually floods my emails I didn't like that so I didn't use it. But as I spent more time on the forum, I discovered the BitcoinTalk telegram superNotifier bot. This has helped me keep track of my topics and replies to other posts by other forum members.
So I want to assume a lot of forum members, mostly lower-ranked members don't know about that software.
I think every active member on the forum should use the superNotifier bot, it makes keeping track of your post way easier and it can also notify you of new topics in boards you track.

I try my best to read every comment on my post, especially the topics I created. What's the point of making a post if you don't read the replies? I even read the replies to my post in the gambling section and most times, if it warrants a reply I do. It would be very difficult for me to do that with the telegram bot because I can't think of any other way I'll be able to keep track of all those replies.
I like the fact that you called people's attention to this because there won't be a discussion if everybody just posts what's on their minds and walks away without discussing it.
212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 03, 2024, 06:29:30 PM
I don't think Atletico Madrid's main target is to finish the season at the third position now honestly. Their target must be secure themselves in the top four. Because it is really in danger you know.  Sad

There's an 8-point difference between Girona and Atletico Madrid so I don't see how they're going to use 8 remaining matches to overthrow Girona in 3rd place. The 2-point difference between them and the Athletic Club is very dicey. If you look at their fixtures, both teams don't have very difficult matches, but Atletico Madrid seems to have tougher fixtures because they still have to play Girona and Sociedad.
What's interesting about this fight is that both teams will meet each other this month. It's going to be the last game of the month for both teams. Whoever wins that game might finish the season in the 4th position if things remain as they are till that time.

Atletico Madrid is focused on the Champions League, but I don't think they'll take their eyes off the league. They want to play in the UCL next season so they can secure a place in the UCL, so I believe Atletico Madrid would finish in the top 4.
213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: April 02, 2024, 09:35:48 PM
Good odds on the Real Madrid- Manchester City game, both above 2, but i feel is really risky to bet on it, maybe i put that on a multiple bet, but i don't wager big money on a single bet on it asides of what I think City is gonna win the game.

I might just mess around and put big money on Manchester City. With their current league results, I believe their odds might increase a little and that is what I'm waiting to see. While City sits 3r on the EPL table, Madrid is topping the La Liga with 8 points and is winning their games.
I just believe Man City will win this game. People try to compare the game with that of Arsenal and point out how Man City couldn't win against Arsenal and other top 6 teams, how are they going to win against Madrid?
First, they need to understand that the Champions League is a different competition from the league. Secondly, Arsenal are shaped to defend very well, something Madrid can't do. If Man City dominate the game against Madrid the way they did to Arsenal they'll score goals.
214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 02, 2024, 09:18:44 PM
Napoli is now seriously considering offering Conte a new contract, given that the club has yet to find a suitable coach to manage the club what do you think guys? Is Conte good for Napoli?

I think Conte would be good for Napoli, I want him to go there. Napoli has a good squad and what they need now is a good coach who can handle the team. Conte likes hard workers and Napoli has players that are hard workers that will fit into his game plan. Also, Conte is a winner. He knows how to get his team back on track and that's what Napoli needs right now. I believe they still have what it takes to compete for the league. Conte also understands the Italian league, he has so much experience. They should do all they can to hire him.
The only disadvantage I see with Conte is that I don't think he's a long-term Manager. He usually has problems with the club's management or players after a while or his team will just stop performing well.

For Conte to do well in a short period, Napoli needs to also reinforce their squad. Some of their players like Osimhen and Zielinski might be leaving so they'll need to get replacements and also sign more payers in other departments that are lacking. For them to get back to fighting for the league, there's a lot of work to be done during the transfer window and I hope they know what they're doing.
215  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why most of Exchanges FAIL ? on: April 02, 2024, 08:20:33 AM
Does this concern you?

It does, not directly, but indirectly.
It doesn't affect me directly because I don't lose money with the collapse of those exchanges, but it affects me indirectly because things like this affect the industry. It takes the growth of the industry a few steps backward. The government keeps looking for ways to discourage crypto, they fight it with whatever they can find, and things like exchange collapse just give the regulatory agencies more ammunition.

Most people in my country don't mind using centralized exchanges and that has made it difficult to see people who are ready to buy Bitcoin in exchange for my local currency on decentralized exchanges, because of this I use a centralized exchange that does not require KYC, but with the recent regulations, selling or buying bitcoin on that exchange without KYC is no longer allowed.
That's why I said it doesn't affect me directly, but it does indirectly.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: April 01, 2024, 08:52:08 PM
Xabi is taking risk by staying in Leverkusen as they might not be able to repeat this success next season. With limited player resource, they will have big troubles by defending their Bundesliga title while discover Champions League. It will put Leverkusen under pressure of using their player resource very wisely to maintain good performances in Bundesliga but still don't affect their discovery about their own ability in the Champions League.

I think staying at Leverkusen is the lowest risk of them all. Going to any of the teams coming for him would be a very big risk. Can you imagine the pressure that'll come with coaching a club like Madrid or Bayern or even Liverpool?
It's a very good decision to stay at Leverkusen for at least one more season. He just won them the league and took them to the Champions League, it won't be proper to not play the Champions League with them before going to a bigger club.

There is less pressure at Leverkusen. He has won them the league, if they finish next season without a trophy it wouldn't mean anything for a club like Leverkusen. What matters is he brought them to the Champions League and they will compete for it. Who knows, they might surprise us again.
Winning the league will open up doors for better recruitment, so they'll be able to recruit better players. Also, with Alonso staying, the star players of Leverkusen won't leave. When a team has a good project like Leverkusen does, convincing players to sign for them won't be a problem.
217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 01, 2024, 01:36:01 PM
For now we don't know what Barcelona's plan for the following season because we know they have financial problems that can hamper their plans. On the other hand, Real Madrid is getting closer to Mbappe rumors and if this rumor is true, there is no way for Barcelona to compete with Real Madrid this means that Barcelona is really in a complicated situation, what do you think will be done by Barcelona? Some people say Barcelona can rely on local talents from the academy but I think it takes a long time it even takes 3-4 seasons to increase it and there is no guarantee that it will work, another solution Barcelona must immediately get another loan if possible and release Lewandowski of course.

Barcelona just need a few signings and they're good. The team is not as bad as people make it seem. Their financial crisis is also not as bad as the media makes it seem. Look at two seasons ago when media houses were saying they'd go into bankruptcy, they signed Lewandoski, Raphinha, and Kounde. Last season they got Gundugan, Felix, and Cancelo.
If you've been following La Liga as a neutral fan, you'll see that Madrid is above Barcelona not because Madrid played exceptionally better, but because Barcelona has suffered injuries at very crucial moments and they don't have quality squad depth to fill in for injured players.

The most important thing Barcelona can do is hire the right manager if Xavi is truly leaving. To me, that's the single most important thing. They just need a DM, a RW, and a LW that can dribble, fast, score goals, and create chances then they're good.
It doesn't matter if Madrid signs Mbappe, that's what Madrid does, that's who they are, they always sign the best players in the world yet Barca still competes with them. Makes these 3 signings and gets a good manager then Barcelona will be ready for next season.
218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Becomes of Gambling if Sport book is taken away. on: April 01, 2024, 01:21:06 PM
Is it just football or all forms of sports as a whole? If it's just football, gamblers will keep gambling on other sports. A lot of people including me don't bet on football alone. Football, Basketball, hockey, and tennis are other sports I bet on. Some people gamble on more.

If all forms of sports gambling are banned entirely, surely casino companies will take a hit because a lot of people gamble on sports, but that could mean most of these people will start gambling in other areas.
The gambling industry will be fine without sports betting. Gambling activities may reduce but with time, the numbers will come back.
People want to gamble. It doesn't matter if it's for fun, to make money, to try their luck, or to waste time, what matters is that they'll look for ways to gamble.
219  Economy / Economics / Re: The benefits of risk taking on: April 01, 2024, 08:42:25 AM
Well, all those great entrepreneurs and business people took calculated risks. Taking risks is good but not every risk is worth it. You can't just take a risk because it's a risk, and taking risks is what great men do, you have to look at the reward of that risk and ask yourself "Is it worth it?"
I like it when people draw inspiration from great people, but you also have to understand both situations, your situation and their situation. The fact that great man A took a risk so daring and it paid off doesn't mean it will pay off for you if you take the same risk.

The bottom line of all these talks is, "take calculated risks". A risk that wouldn't wreck if it fails, a risk that's worth the reward. People always talk about those who profited from their risk, but nobody mentions those who lost from their risk and I believe those who lost are way more than those who profited if not we would have had more successful people.
220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is that one reason that motivates you to invest in bitcoin even at ATH ? on: April 01, 2024, 08:16:00 AM
I think it's different for someone who understands Bitcoin and someone who doesn't. Some people have already said FOMO is the reason people are ready to invest in Bitcoin even at an ATH, but people who understand Bitcoin won't do that because of FOMO.
Personally, I feel it's because they know that Bitcoin can always get higher, especially during a bill run.
If I get money now and I don't have any particular reason for it, I will buy Bitcoin even though Bitcoin is going between 69k - $71k recently. I'll be bold enough to do so because I speculate that the price would be higher. If it makes a 30% increase, that's a 30% increase in my investment which is a lot.

For people who don't understand Bitcoin, I can agree it's FOMO. They see the new trend and a lot of people making money from it so they just invest so they don't miss out.
