201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trump vs. Biden is almost like Bitcoin vs Fiat on: June 04, 2024, 04:27:40 PM
Its kind of fun to watch, also very funny how when I think about it Biden vs. Trump is sort of similar to Fiat vs. Bitcoin. Thoughts?
That is what the political propaganda wants you to believe. In fact, reality is different than that. There aren't good politicians supporting Bitcoin and going against the evil fiat system. They are all part of the system and will act against independent, autonomous and free individuals as soon as they reach power positions. So, why to waste time supporting one politician or another? It's precious time you have to develop yourself in your personal private life, so use this time at your favour, instead of building stairs for politicians to climb up over you after all.

The truth is that it's Trump and Biden vs. Bitcoin. Trump and Biden want to use you at their favour, while you can choose being used by them or to use Bitcoin in your own favour. What do you prefer?
I completely agree with you that no politician will be willing to give up on the power they wade through the fiat system, not Biden, not Trump... maybe they just want to appeal to the fantasy of the younger generation who constitute a sizeable percentage of the voting block.

We we had a change of government last year, the new president came and lifted all the ban on cryptocurrency by his predecessor and we cheered him to high heavens. Little did we know that it was all a charade as he used that to buy the minds of the youth, most of whom survives through cryptocurrency.  As of today, the same government has banned all cryptocurrency exchanges and any individual caught dealing in cryptocurrency will have his account frozen.  This was the worst crackdown on cryptocurrency ever witnessed in my country.

Seems like when politicians realises the freedom cryptocurrency offers, they have no option than to turn against it so I don't see any difference in what to expect from Biden and Trump.
202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who's winning the Euro 2024 Tournament? on: June 04, 2024, 02:17:07 PM
Hi all,

In relation to our competition here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5498852.0 where you can win tickets to the Euro 2024 Final!

Who do you think will win the Euro 2024 tournament?

We say Portugal... what about you?
Portugal is not even in my top three teams. My top three picks are Spain, France and Croatia.  Germany may be a force to reckon with but they do not make my top picks. Portugal have Cristiano Ronaldo as their key player but I think age is no more on his side so he might not really be a factor in the tournament.  Italy can actually pull up some surprises because they are what I will call silent achievers. England can do well, their recent matches are with great success but base on what I'm seeing, the tournament might likely be between my top three picks.
203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling increases computer education. on: June 04, 2024, 02:09:14 PM
Each time I visit some physical betting shop in my country, I usually observe how some elderly people make use of computers. I live in a country where most people 55 years and above don't have basic computer education. Many of them cannot use the mouse, keyboard, or other parts of the computer. This might be because most of them have not been exposed to computer education.

However, the introduction of online betting has forced most gamblers in my country to learn how to use the computer. It is now common to see some elderly people using the mouse and keyboard effectively. Most of them have never attended any computer education class but learned through observation. Others might have gone through some level of training from family or friends. I am sure many of them wouldn't have learned anything about the computer if not for online gambling. What are your thoughts?
This is very correct,  there have been rapid increase in computer usage in my country too due to gambling self-services. In the various physical shops, there are usually computers stationed for customers to analyse matches, book their games and also check live scores. Even the elderly who had no prior knowledge of computer have, due to gambling, known how to do the basic things with a computer.  I'm usually amazed at how fast and efficient most of them are in learning and using the computer respectively.  At least we can call this a positive development occasioned by the proliferation of physical gambling shops.
204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there a legal jurisdiction backing up gamblers against the casino oppression? on: June 03, 2024, 11:18:01 AM
Casinos that are registered in any jurisdiction is bound to operate under the relevant gambling laws of such country. There is usually laws propounded by every country that governs gambling activities and protect both the gambling companies and their customers. In my country there are such laws even though few gamblers are aware of it. In countries like Australia,  there is a law in process that will regulate how much an individual is allow to deposite in casinos, forex firms and related companies monthly, the essence of the cap is to ensure that individuals do not waste all their money on things they are not profitable in. Each country have theirs and I will encourage you to find out the applicable laws in your country and how to seek a redress incase you encounter a problem with your gambling providers.
205  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet against the club you support? on: June 03, 2024, 10:31:21 AM
Supporting a club has no monetary value, just for fun and entertainment, although some people get their emotions involved. It is natural to want your club to win, the reason many people do not bet against their club but if we want to act like professional gamblers, sometimes we can bet against our clubs if that is the most feasible option. If this is a great deal, the best is to avoid the club you support after all there are many other matches to bet. We don't have to place bet that will deny us the peace we need, so avoiding the club we support should be the best option.
206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Kicking/banning and or limiting a player for winning too much on: June 03, 2024, 07:51:15 AM
Maybe his offense is doing what casinos does not want their customers to do consistently. In other words, your friend is spoiling business for them. But on a serious note, what kind of luck will make your friend to win consistently? What happened is that they might be suspecting him of cheating or having access to fixed games so they had to act to protect their business. I have not seen this happen anyways but I feel it is possible.
207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tell me the unexpected problems you've encountered in a casino? on: June 03, 2024, 01:27:04 AM
Recently, I've read some comments about the KYC problem that was triggered because the user was suspected of cheating. Among the popular reasons are the violation of their TOS, which includes multi-accounting. As a gambler, if you find yourself in this situation and the casino has accused you of this but you are certain you didn't violate their rules, what should you do? How will you handle the situation if, as a result of this accusation, the casino closes your account and forfeits your funds? This is just one of many possible reasons. If you have encountered other problems, please share them and your solutions for dealing with them.
I have not had any of the challenges you mentioned but I have seen so many people post about encountering them. The root cause of these problem is usually people not reading the TOS of casinos or reading them but attempting to be smart like in the case of multiple account which some people know is wrong but chose to test their luck with it. If a user is wrongly accused of any of them, the best way to go about is to use the right channels of communication is which is the support, then provide the necessary defense and hope the information is sufficient to prove his case. How they handle the matter also depend on the reputation of the casino because reputable casinos will not want to cheat the user if there are substantial evidence that there is no violations of their TOS.
208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it proper for one to trade Bitcoin through a trusted friend ? on: June 02, 2024, 10:59:33 PM
Nothing spoil friendship more than money and in business, try to keep friendship aside. Why do you need to trade Bitcoin with a friend when you have both centralized exchanges and decentralized exchanges? Assuming you don't want to trade in CEX because of KYC, there are still some you can trade that does not make KYC compulsory but you have to comply with their daily withdrawal limit. Furthermore, you can simply use DEX to trade your Bitcoin and there will be no issue. If you treasure the friendship, try as much as possible to reduce the opportunity of money transaction if that is not what brought you together, let the friendship be built on other things if it was not started through such business collaborations.
209  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why the rich win gambling more than the poor. on: June 02, 2024, 11:41:05 AM
By the way, the poor have an advantage: they always keep themselves under control, because if this does not happen, then the poor person simply does not sing the next day. And the rich don't control themselves that much.
I don't really agree with you that the poor have advantage in this case. There is something you seem to be missing and that is the fact that the money the poor gamble with which you might consider small is actually like the "widow's might", I mean something very huge for them. You night see someone gambling with $10 which ordinarily appear like small amount, but in reality, this might be like $100k for the person. Furthermore, the poor gamble with the mindset of ending their poverty through gambling, and this makes them make emotional decisions. Whereas the rich might just be gambling for fun because they have other means of meeting their needs, so their emotions are not that engaged in the gambling and their decisions are clear, without any external inducement. The poor truly perform badly in gambling than the rich.

211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: June 01, 2024, 05:36:59 PM
The chances of Dortmund winning are very slim, but there's no way I won't give them a chance. They may go into the game and protect a 1-0 lead till the end of the match. We've seen these things before and we'll still see them again. Today might be one of those days, you never know.
On the surface it might appear that Borussia Dortmund will not be a hard team for Real Madrid to beat tonight. Matching them by their records, it might be true because Dortmund have not hard any serious records to match that of Real Madrid. But a part of me feel that this will not go smoothly the way many of us are expecting it to go. The present Dortmund team have changed the way I view them with their performance towards the end of the season as they became better and more coordinated. I think they will give Real Madrid serious headache tonight and if they manages to score first, then I'm afraid that they will have their way tonight.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can any meme coin challenge bitcoin in future ? on: June 01, 2024, 12:54:58 PM
Is it possible that some meme coin might challenge bitcoin in future ? Why or why not ? I personally feel that though we may see some mem coin making it really big but it will never be at the level to challenge bitcoin.
Meme coin challenge Bitcoin? That sounds funny! How can a mirage challenge challenge Bitcoin? In what aspect? Do you even understand what meme coins are? They are purely for fun, more like joke. If you think something that is all about fun will challenge a serious business like Bitcoin, then you can as well believe that I am Satoshi.

If you want to get involved with meme coins, go ahead, enjoy the hype, pump and all the fun that comes with them but don't forget that it can dump on you, or disappear any moment. Nothing can challenge Bitcoin and that is the fact you need to always keep at the back of your mind.

214  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Move your coins from NairaEx on: May 31, 2024, 03:43:56 PM
I received an email from NairaEx on the 13th of May, but I did not see it until today after the exchange sent another email that their customers should withdraw their ether and USDT on the exchange to avoid the coin and the token loss.
Whenever and exchange or platform begin to come up with too many changes and announcements such as this, it is always a red flag for me. I understand that the crackdown on exchanges is affecting NairaEx, Luno, Naira4dollar and other exchanges that trade in NGN. Before now self, I have stopped putting my money on exchanges unless when I want to sell which I will just deposit and sell immediately. Just like you said, I will advice everyone to withdraw all their assets from Naira to their private wallet to avoid stories.

It is getting too late but I think telling people can still help them withdraw their money from the exchange. Although, I guess no one is using that exchange among us on this forum, but if you are using it, withdraw your coins. Or if you know someone that is using it, tell the person to withdraw his coins.
That exchange have been moribund for a while but you should not be surprised that many people still use it. Not many people know their way around other exchanges like those of us in this forum that are privy to information of many places we can trade. My colleagues in the office still use NairaEx because it should be one of the easiest and fastest exchanges to buy and sell in the local currency.  Before Binance came on board and changed everything, NairaEx and Luno were the most popular in Nigeria.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Are People Not Interested To Listen To Success Stories Of Bitcoin Investors? on: May 31, 2024, 03:32:18 PM
The reason most people do not pay attention to success stories of Bitcoin investors is because most people who are truly successful in Bitcoin prefer remaining hidden and will never flaunt their wealth on social media. Majority of people who share their supposed success stories turn out to be scammers looking for who to lure into their schemes. They make it look like when you invest into their project or the projects they are following, you will become rich overnight. People have fallen victims to these kinds of things, hence most people are skeptical about people sharing their success stories, especially online.

I understand that sharing your success stories with close friends and relatives that you want to also invest in Bitcoin will motivate them so much, but I think there should be a limit to the level of information you divulge to people to avoid exposing yourself to risk.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I can easily find 3 odds games on casinos but hard to find on sport on: May 31, 2024, 11:48:11 AM
Are you saying that casino is easier to win than sports betting? If yes, then concentrate on what gives you edge. If you can easily find 3 odds games in casino, then you are on your way to joining the 1% of the word population that controls over 90% of the word's resources. Imagine you start with $100 and compound this daily for 2years, that is money you are talking about.

For the addiction aspect you mentioned, casinos are more time consuming and more addictive and most gambling addicts I know actually play casinos, just few in sports betting. I'm not saying that sports betting is better because it is an individual thing.
217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A list of lucky casinos in crypto on: May 31, 2024, 09:32:43 AM
There are many reputable casinos with verifiable proof of huge payouts. Example of such is Rollbit.com that have been paying big jackpots. Today someone won $500k with a $50 capital in a 10,001 multiplier and the winning was processed without complaints. Still today, another winner won $2m with $50k and was also paid. These are not just small wins but major life changing wins that Rollbit.com was able to deliver without complaint. If this is what you want, then Rollbit.com is definitely a good choice.
My God. These numbers scare me. Could someone really be so lucky, or is this just what is written in the post below? Advertising campaign. I have never come close to such figures, and I always assumed that it was more convenient for the casino to pay in smaller amounts.
My dear lovesmayfamilis, before I was skeptical about this whole things as I was unable to process how possible it would be for an individual to win such huge amount. I actually made efforts to verify how authentic those information are or if casinos do share fictitious information just to lure customers to their platform. Hence, I decided to follow some of the notable casinos on Twitter (X), lo and behold, people (not bots) do confirm winning outrageous amounts as most do post their winnings online with accompanying withdrawals that went through. I have also been privileged to see free games of over X2000 dropped and I won with it, though small amount of money and those who played huge won outstanding payouts that almost wrecked 22bet. So these winnings and payouts are real. If you follow Rollbit.com on X, you will see some of these things.

218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reflections on Responsible Gambling. Insights from the Community on: May 31, 2024, 06:00:12 AM
  • Have you become a responsible and ethical gambler, or do you still find subtle ways to increase your odds of winning?
Seems you are mistaken responsible gambling for being about your gambling even in a losing strategy.  This is not responsible gambling as being strict in a wrong approach is rather irresponsibility because responsible gambling requires that an individual will be able to protect the capital and never to gamble with amount that one cannot afford to lose. Being flexible to adjust your game in order to increase the winning odds is being smart and responsible and not the other way round.

  • What small actions have you taken to combat underage gambling in your locality or online?
The advent of online gambling has made it difficult  to even meet fellow gamblers. I hardly even visit physical shops, so there is no way to meet the underage gamblers to be able to talk to them. The best that can be done about that rest with the gambling companies; they have to refuse them access to their platform or shops and this will discourage some of them not all. Parents should also dk more to protect their children from gambling.

219  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: May 30, 2024, 02:51:07 PM
I would also like to state that my transaction finally went through! Faith ~restored!
Happy for the news of a confirm successful withdrawal, this mean a lot to the entire gambling and crypto community. FreeBitco.in have been a key project in both Bitcoin faucet and the casino industry so its success is actually a success for crypto-powered casinos in general.

Perhaps more people will come out to testify of successful withdrawals, that will go a long way in restoring the confidence of the users. Indeed better days ahead and I'm excited about it already.
220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Failed crypto project will promote bitcoin more on: May 30, 2024, 01:56:39 PM
This is not entirely true in my opinion. Failed crypto projects only promote Bitcoin to those who have not given up after incurring losses. Many people condemn cryptocurrency, Bitcoin inclusive,  after the lose money through scam. It is only those who are able to do some findings and discover that not all cryptocurrencies are bad, that happens to stick to Bitcoin knowing that it is different from the rest.

Some people I started with have shifted from Bitcoin to other areas siting risk and scam that are prevalent in cryptocurrency. If you actually know how many scams some of us suffer in this journey, then you will understand why they took those decisions.

So while failed projects created strong Bitcoin believers,
they actually scared a lot of people away from Bitcoin.
