201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 14, 2024, 08:19:00 PM
Today is just a day of miracles... Grin First, Liverpool lost to an underdog... Then Arsenal also lost at home to Villa... By the way, in all three matches the guests won... Of course it's all a strange coincidence and now Man City are top of the standings... Grin I think they will be there until the end of the season...

At first, Arsenal is meant to win this match because at least they are at home and they have every advantage to win since they are at the Emirates Stadium.

Secondly, their quest to remain at the top of the league is not to be overstated. So, that alone should give every fan and well-wisher the kind of vibe that Arsenal is going to win this match but it was vice-versa.

As if that was not enough, Liverpool also lost to Crystal Palace who are at the 14th position of the league table. When Liverpool is also seen as one of the A clubs that is pursuing the first position of the league table standing, yet, they also lost in their match today.

Could one say that today was meant to be an advocacy for clubs that are working hard to be noticed within the league or it is just another bad day for the elite clubs who are fighting for the top position of the league? I wish I have someone who can give a better explanation to this wondrous moment.

203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where is the fun when you lose your money? on: April 13, 2024, 09:59:33 PM
But not all gamblers have that intention and their desire, it may be true that most of them want to win to get a lot of money but there are still people whose purpose
is just for entertainment and fun.

I feel the primary purpose and aim to which gambling was established was to become an avenue where people can have fun. Oftentimes we have been dragged into a situation or scenarios where all we do is to work and not have fun. And they say all work without play makes Jack a dull boy.

So, the need for people to gamble for fun became paramount and that led to the formation of gambling and the diversity in gambling. There are people who are only interested in casinos, some even decide to gamble locally for a past time and not work in the real estate. But today, at the same time, many people have lost their life assets into bitcoin because they felt the way it was promoted, that would obviously be what you would meet. But that was not the case.
204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: April 13, 2024, 09:57:32 PM
Man City didn't disappoint and ran Luton over with a 5-1 win. Despite the season slowly coming to an end, City looks really fresh and they seem to have fun from just playing football. They're currently leading the table, probably only till tomorrow, but who knows.

Oh yes, Manchester City are one of the most hard-working clubs in this year's football season. They have worked hard in all the leagues they found themselves, including their EPL and UCL, to keep the club going. And one must say kudos to the manager, none other than the well-known Guardiola, who is putting his own expertise together again.

But at the same time, Manchester City does not need to give up. They have to play every match as if it was their qualifier. And they have no choice than to celebrate whoever wins. Not to celebrate the possession, the offsides, or free-kicks. But we need to look into the psychiatric results that come on in our...
205  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 13, 2024, 09:49:21 PM
only zero to zero after the first half between Juventus and Torino.

The match isn't as fun as it often happens lately but the only thing that matters are the points brought home

next year Serie A should have 5 places available for the Champsion League so the minimum objective could be fifth place and no longer fourth.

Well, seeking for the expansion of the number of clubs that should be allowed to qualify to Champions League after Contesting hard to get to the fifth position. That will not only assist clubs that are missing out at the fifth position but also that will be a long way to include more clubs for the Champions League. So at the end of the day, because fifth clubs are honoured with joining the tournament.

It is the dream of every club to reach and qualify for the Champions League tournament. But because only four can go, then a lot of those clubs have no opportunity to continue. Rather, they are left with no choice than to back to their respective leagues without participating in the Champions League. So this is a nice idea, a nice proposal. It will help a lot more teams to go a long way.
206  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency impact on Economy on: April 13, 2024, 09:40:51 PM
Cryptocurrency had their huge root in the many countries economy, now nearly 30-40 percentage of many country people using cryptocurrency for the trading, mining, digital marketing and investment. So at the end they are earning some decent income from the cryptocurrency. The impact of cryptocurrency in the developing countries was huge, because the unemployment and poverty was the biggest hurdle for the developing countries.

Cryptocurrency is an entirely new phase of technology that has come to advance the knowledge of monetary systems as far as fiat is concerned. And subsequently provide long-lasting solutions to those problems through the advent of the digital currencies, a.k.a. cryptocurrencies.

Disentralized system in Bitcoin will help it to survive more than the fiat currencies in, but will also assist in maintaining the value of the assets

It has helped a lot of people to join hands in the decision-making process of the cryptocurrency, so that the rise and fall of the digital currency will solely be determined by the overall users of those currencies, and there is nothing like being micro-managed by a certain set of people who are the key.
207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin to the common man. on: April 13, 2024, 09:31:19 PM
It's not all about the money that is ready to be lost, it's about a spare amount of money that one can afford to loss which means if you have a thousand dollars and if hundred dollars can be lost without you bordering yourself too much then it's what you can do with our and that's the kind of money that is need for bitcoin investment.

It also stems down to other aspects that serve like as a tool to the successful financial life that we all are pursuing. One is consistency and the other one is hard work or dedication. When you are introduced to the cryptocurrency, one thing that is advised for a newbie is to be consistent. But before being consistent, he also needs to be hardworking and dedicated to the course.

Bitcoin is all about knowledge and the only way you can reap and attain mastery in your digital assets is through consistency and hard work. So this is something that I must advise everyone who is ready to venture into Bitcoin. It is for them to truly be ready to sacrifice their time, their knowledge, their efforts and be consistent in doing it.
208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 12, 2024, 09:42:51 PM
In terms of head-to-head we can draw the conclusion that Atletico Madrid is superior to Girona even though there is always a surprise but in my opinion a surprise will no longer apply to Girona because it is too fortunate to get a big 3 position in the point table.
Atletico Madrid is currently in a very good condition despite having a 2x defeat in the last 5 matches and I am still sure that Atletico Madrid will win in the match tomorrow.

I also believe it is far from being lucky to address Girona in the position they are right now at the tables. Maintaining the third position in La Liga cannot be by chance or luck. There must be some serious efforts put into it to have achieved the position they are right now. And at a point, Girona was doing far better than Atletico Madrid did and they were working side by side with Real Madrid and Barcelona.

But one thing I also realized was that Michel, who is the manager, had only few players to work with. So there were not much opportunities and substitutions that were made at a point. that is one aspect that I expect Girona to focus on more in their next seasons. Because they need to match this effort by more efforts and actions in the next season to come so that they don't end up being like Napoli, who did extremely well in the last season but could barely survive the heat of the season. That is the only way Girona can break the jinx of the elite clubs in La Liga, such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid, amongst others.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 12, 2024, 09:27:17 PM
Of course, VAR can minimize wrong decisions when the referee officiates a match. The referee is greatly helped by VAR, but in some matches VAR is also useless when the referee ignores VAR's call to review it. There is still the potential for cheating by referees in a match even though VAR already exists, but of course VAR has helped a lot.

Increasing VAR will clearly have a positive impact on all teams and referee leadership in a match. This would be welcomed by all parties and personally I also agree that VAR should be improved. I don't know how it works yet, but it will be implemented next season.

Well, technologies like VAR are meant to ease process. Every technology that is employed in an industry is meant to ease the processes and activities of that industry. Same thing applies to the advent of the virtual referees. But since these VAR technologies are manned by human beings like us, sometimes there seems to be a bias in judgment.

It might not be something that is frequently practiced, but there are noticeable occasions where VAR had made judgements but the referees in the control room see fault in the status quo, which is against the judgment of VAR. But since VAR is controlled by them, then that is the case.

VAR is meant to solve problems and not to make it worse for players. So, the more officials of the industry work hard to consolidate the effort of the VAR with their decisiveness. If there is a strict lack of bias and strict guidelines, it will make the VAR technology more effective for the football teams and games

I don't wish for his downfall though, but this is the right thing to do to get results.
If Victor Oshime is to arrive in the Premier League Competition, then he would Defense play for either Chelsea or Manchester United.

There's no way on earth he would be Napoli player next season. It's eith a move back to french league which I feel like it's not the right destination for him or the Premier League Competition.

As a matter of fact, I am eager to see Victor Osimhen leave Napoli because his growth is what I'm rooting for and being in Napoli doesn't seem to be enough of opportunities and future for him there. So moving him away from that place to another more comfortable place would be the best thing to do.

In Chelsea or Manchester United, Victor Osimhen will be playing with a lot of A-list clubs in the world to fight for their Premier League and subsequently Champions League competitions. But Osimhen also needs a club that is highly promising and a club that would not practice racism or discrimination against him. If I were him, any next contract I'm signing, I would probably include some clauses that have to do with identity protection amongst people.
211  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Never assume things, always Validate on: April 12, 2024, 09:06:50 PM
To be honest, a simple validation does not take much, it might be a simple call to the right person, a mail, or simply moving from your office to the superior's office to seek clarity. Assumption is a lazy man's thing, save from experimental procedures which has no means of validation, we are encouraged to always validate our information before making it a basis for decision making.

Lets share our thoughts on this, and also our experiences with the lazy man assumption.

How I wish Nigerians can have the culture of validating and sieving whatever information that comes to their table. That will help us a lot in curbing misinformation and false news that have caused hatred between Nigerians and communities. Most Nigerians base their arguments on assumptions and have never taken it upon themselves to validate or solidify whatever claims that they have heard about something.

Rather, we immediately feast on whatever information we see out there on the internet, on the TV cables, and on the social media platforms. Hence, is why in Nigeria, there are always 10 different sides of the coin to a story. Because everybody fabricates its own version that suits into him and share it out there. Instead of you and I to validate their claims, we go ahead and consume them and even share it out there to others that do not know or not in tune with the trend.

This evening, I engaged someone about Bitcoin technology and I got to realize that that person is amongst several other Nigerians who see Bitcoin as a platform for scamming people. And I was bamboozled and perplexed by her assumption. Then I had to take my time to explain to her what Bitcoin really stands for. And by doing that she was able to change her mind. And accept the reality. This is the same thing I am talking about.
212  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Nigerian street pranks and its effect. on: April 12, 2024, 08:59:56 PM
While we watch these videos and enjoy the entertainment part of it, some of the people pranked are left emotionally drained, some relationship/ couples trust has broken because they were pranked to check there faithfulness to each other

In every content creation, there is limits to the kind of contents that a creator should practice. Anything that has to do with infringing on people's rights as well as traumatizing people should not be considered as content creation. Some content creators go as far as instigating fights amongst people in the name of creating content or causing violence in the name of creating content. For example, we've got content creators that would prank bikemen and taxi drivers amongst others while those people are running their day-to-day business trying to fend for themselves and make an ends meet. While driving those vehicles, a prankster can just infringe on them and spoil their day with some nonsensical Pranks.

This is where government should also come in to continue to, through the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, role out guidelines to enlighten people on the level to which content creation should be practiced and the type of contents that are allowed within those spaces, especially as far as pranks are concerned.

Entertainment is not bad, as a matter of fact I enjoy watching them alot but when you ridicule or take advantage of the ignorance of others just to create your content, it becomes a problem.

Before, we used to have comedians who do pranks, but those pranks are considered harmless to those that are used for it. Sometimes it could be staged so that the person who is meant to be pranked would have an idea of what they intend to do, that it doesn't end up causing psychological trauma to them.

But these guys go out there to the street without consent, without permission, to prank people, committing dangerous scenarios. I think advices are meant to be given to them and the government really needs to play their role, not arresting them, but giving them guidelines to the limits they have in pranking others. You can't derive joy, happiness, money and content by traumatizing somebody else.
213  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Women cheap these days but benefiting more on: April 11, 2024, 10:10:56 PM
I'm actually not against this shit but we must note it wise that if we don't have enough we should focus more of expenditury with the potentials of earning more while pleasures awaits. Possibly we should be concious that it's not an investment but a consumption because I've withnessed lot of guys acting out of their controls of considering sex the utmost engagement they've ever craved for.
Some guys can even afford to cause depreciation to their source of income just to appreciate women for sexual pleasures.

To you, are women cheap these days or not and what's your opinion?

It is good to personalize opinions like this rather than generalizing them. Saying that women only get attached to men for the sake of their money could be an attack on the women folk because every lady out there has a core value and what they respect. Some might be money, some might be true love, some might be sincerity of purpose, and so on. Whatever it is that is the ladies standard or criteria will be what will make them become interested in you or not as a guy.

There are ladies that don't care about your affluence. So if one is to generalize this opinion, how do you do justice to people like that? There are also ladies that are already married and rich, and all they need is a caring husband that can give them more confidence. They wouldn't mind to provide to the family, however, they need someone who can stand in as a man to protect them, guide them, and guard them as well. So saying that women are known for money or women are being devalued with money could be a generalized statement which a lot of people find faulty.

However, mentioning some categories of women whom have shown that reckless attitude of following money instead of value which have gradually become the job of some more women, it could be more understandable. And of course, it all depends on the environment where you live and the set of people you meet with which includes their mindset as well.
214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 11, 2024, 09:59:18 PM
But they also have an advantage in this match because they see from what happened where Girona's performance in the last few matches did not go well and of course when playing at the Metropolitano, this should be a good encouragement for Atletico, who could have given a positive result as well as revenge in their first meeting which belonged to Girona.
Quite interesting actually this match because after all this is a match that could determine the top 4 positions for Atletico at the end of this season considering their position is still not too safe at this time.

Whenever we talk about Girona, I am one of the most saddest person because the way I have seen Girona started in this season, to the middle of the season, towards the till end of the season, I was expecting much from them. And in fact, I was very happy and glad that they were pulling out the efforts that they were making. Also, I really celebrated the president of the club because he has done well to manage both Girona and Manchester City to the top of their respective leagues.

So, I became unhappy when Girona lost that consistency they had. And up to now, they've not really been able to regain it. But one thing one can still be happy or should be happy about is the fact that Girona is going for Champions League next season and that will poise them with a lot of opportunity to even do better than they are already doing.
215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 11, 2024, 09:56:52 PM
As for gunners, they will sure find it difficult to win but if they win regardless, they have the mentality of champions. They know what's at stake so they must do all they can to win the Premier League, tougher games ahead they shouldn't lose focus. Togetherness and consistency will take them far.

It may not be as difficult as you say. Rather, it is better to say that it's a 50-50 chance for both Arsenal and Bayern Munich. But for someone like me, I feel like Arsenal can actually beat Bayern Munich even at home. So all they just need to do is to at least master the game plan of Bayern Munich from the first leg they have played. And redevelop or reinvent strategies that can give them a full force in which they can use to defeat Bayern Munich in the second leg of the quarterfinal.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do some people hide to gamble on: April 11, 2024, 09:53:30 PM
My curiosity led me closer to them I was interacting with one of them and at same time observing what they are doing , one thing I observed was that they stake with huge amount and they don’t give you change even when your money requires change instead you will use it and bet for another round.

So at this point I decided to bring it here to know or see different views from different intellects here on why do some people hide just to gamble or if it is the best way to gamble ?.

I think it all depends on the location and the environment that you are. Some environments forbid gambling in an open environment, in the sense that if you are gambling you are not expected to be flaunting it out there. So it has become a norm in such kind of environment for people to hide when they are gambling and in that regards you won't be surprised if you find people truly hiding themselves when they gamble.

But in societies where gambling is not seen as anything or not even something that has been put to ban by the government, like the way it in Middle East. some Western countries, don't see any reason why someone should be afraid gambling. And there have been buildings in the Western world where gambling is not seen as an issue. People go into such businesses real-time, businesses like casino and so on and they have never been scared of the public or even try to hide it from the general public. Rather, it becomes a centre where people come and have fun.
217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: April 11, 2024, 09:47:07 PM
This is what I called the game of luck, and it goes to Barcelona because I was very surprised to see them win against PSG, which was still PSG playing a home game, but due to luck they were able to win because what amazes me the most is when PSG got their two goals within just the interval of two minutes, even when Barcelona scored their second goal, I was not so sucked because, knowing that PSG is mostly the coolest and strongest in the Champions League, losing against Barcelona will be very challenging, but since the fresh blood that is playing for Barcelona will not be surprising if they win, I don't think PSG can still make it in the second leg because Barcelona will have more confidence since they have won an away game. They will still like to win the home game, but PSG's performance was still good, and they might react to win them back.

Barcelona against PSG was an interesting match to witness and for us we have taken it to predict that PSG is going to win over Barcelona since PSG seems to be more powerful right now than Barcelona does, hence reverse was the case and from a fair, simple analysis, one could have every reason to say that PSG is likely to win, or at least secure a draw, since they are at home and not away.

Looking at the performances of both teams in their respective leagues, PSG is doing awesomely well in League 1. In fact, PSG is currently the leading club in League 1 with 10 points different from the second position in the table standing, whereas Barcelona are the second in position, dragging the second position with Girona, and has been defeated by Real Madrid, who are 75 points in the league, whereas Barcelona is 67 points.

Having mentioned all of this, looking at how powerful PSG seems to be, one would easily take PSG to be of an advantage, especially since they are at home. But reverse was the case. So PSG must do magic in their second leg if they want to secure a win to the semi-finals, which at this point seems daunting.
218  Economy / Economics / Re: Governments and their irrelevant projects just to steal public funds on: April 10, 2024, 09:23:08 PM
Should I advise you? This kind of discussion should be written in your local thread for effective discussion.
Agreed.  I have no idea what OP is talking about exactly, and as is typical for members here, very little details are supplied as to what's supposed to be the topic.  I initially thought this might be about the US government and all of their excess spending on idiotic shit, but apparently not.  That's fine, too since government waste has been a contentious subject likely since the beginning of society and governments.

But if I may ask, how can citizens effectively engage the government in that they can curb some of these corruption cases in the financial sector across the world. Because most of us will agree with me that what O.P. said, even though it is peculiar to a country where he probably comes from or resides, it is not out of place for many other countries out there that are suffering from financial corruption in government, where government initiates projects that end up with no true sense of meaning.

A country with almost a zero impact yet allocates humongous amounts of money to such projects which end up not successful or initiated. There are situations where countries leave with moribund projects, much more than completed projects or ongoing projects. How does the society, the citizens, the represented be able to curb this financial corruption in the government system if it is through probing?

How do we effectively probe the government to bring them to an account? Because you do not expect a solution from the same system of government that is engaging in such acts. Rather, I feel like the larger society should be able to have a mechanism or an instrument so strong enough to resolve these issues themselves.
219  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Is Dollar The Cause? on: April 10, 2024, 09:00:41 PM
D way things dey increase for dis contri surprise me well well, e get so many things wey we no suppose mention say na becos dollar don increase nai make.

Make I use this housing as the matter for ground, how piple dey take find house to rent but dem no see the one wey fit their pocket moni abi we go say dollar nai cos that one too? House rent don increase and before you go get house for this contri with this current situation e go hard.
So I dy ask if na becos of say dollar don increase nai make landlords and landladies get mind to increase everything wey concern their house; house rent don go high, agent fee don high, agreement fee don high lawyer fee self don add moni, no be say everything dy the house of toilet fit no make sense and other things wey no good dy the house, wey you fit pay up to 300k...
I dy ask nah Dollar cos this one too bcos plenty piple dy homeless becos them no fit afford wetin house owners dem dy call as price.

Wetin be the main reason for this particular one?

I dey reason say, the house rent aspect wey you talk about dey go too far, because at least to build house, you go need blocks, cement, and other building materials, some of dem fit dey import or get connection with exports, wey fit be one of the reasons why house rent dey cost pass before.

But that by the way, you go wan discuss things like rice, local rice, paddy rice wey we dey buy for our local markets, and you dey wonder why these items dey very expensive, and you fit hear common marketer talk say, dollar don rise, and na why their own products too dey cost pass. You go begin wonder how dollar take affect product wey dey inside the state, no be even across states or the whole nation, but just within one state, but e don affect am, but dollar na just one factor.

The second one na fuel. Fuel don dey one of the major determinants for market. Plenty things dey cost now because of fuel hike, so e make sense if marketer or seller mention fuel as their main reason why things dey cost, I fit understand, but when person dey talk about dollar rise, when all the production and value chain dey inside the state, na then you go ask why e cost because of dollar.
220  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Now dollar is #1,400/Naira. Will the prices of food items and commodity reduce? on: April 09, 2024, 09:13:10 PM
I have been trying so hard to ignore dropping any further comments on this post because I made this observation a long time back, but I just didn't have any backings on the exchange rate as at then.
One actually needs to experience this scenario in their everyday life currently, inorder to agree on the fact that whenever prices go up in this country, it hardly ever comes down and it isn't as a cause of exchange rates because our local retailers have nothing to do with dollar, so whose fault will it become in essence?

Naija don tire people like us because dollar price don dey go down, but e no mean say commodity market dey cheap. Plenty things still dey expensive.

Some things never reduce price since dollar high for south, even though dollar dey drop now, last last e be like 1,111 Naira per dollar this night, but fuel still dey high. Major things for market still dey cost plenty. Spare parts for cars and other things for market still dey cost the same, even when dollar rise over Naira don dey decline.

Wetin surprise me be say why these things no dey reflect for market when dollar dey drop, but dem dey reflect sharp sharp when e dey rise? E fit be say na most of the high prices for market na man-made to make life hard for Nigerians? Na my question always be that.
