201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The effect of Bitcoin on children on: June 02, 2023, 10:10:11 AM
I am sharing a real story. Last 31st I went to my cousin's wedding. The area where I want to host the wedding is like a village where I don't have good mobile network, so it won't be wrong to call such an area as a remote area. After eating and drinking, me and one of my cousins went out for a walk and saw three boys drawing something in the mud. I approached them with interest and watched them make the Bitcoin logo in the mud and compete to see who could make the logo more beautiful. So I asked about this logo and one boy said that his parents have this bitcoin and his father taught him to draw this logo and he taught his friends. I was very happy to hear this from the boy because in such a village where there is no good mobile network people are involved with Bitcoin.

In this case of the boy, I remembered one thing that the children will be developed in the same way as the parents raise their children from childhood. The boy's father may want to expose his son to Bitcoin from an early age.

the only negative effect bitcoin is having on kids is in the hacker space. im gen x.. we did that shit for the knowledge, access to hardware and serious bw (damn remember when a t1 was hot shit) and for rep amount our friends. now all it's about the coin. hackers are just theives now. someone is always getting hurt.. and the knowledge learned to pull off a hack, it just a means to an end to get fucking paid.

that's the real negative effect of btc on kids... not your boring story.

Another important factor to consider is to check if you're always broke after gambling, it's not a good habit to be engaged i begging around for a living after which you have spent the little you have on gambling, some will even use the money meant for them to feed and gamble with it, some go extra length in taking loans to gambles, all these are what we must look into and adjust before people it get weird on us that people begin to suggest quit for us.

you're a junkie at that point.

i'm saying thats one of the draw backs to crypto casino sites. people with gambling addictions have fewer tools to prevent them from gambling. say i live in NV, and I add my self to a block list. i can't make a deposit at any state licensed casino website. if i make an account, once i add my bank or cc to make a deposit i will be blocked. yet, if i goto roobet i can make a btc deposit and be playing.. and there is no way to associate a btc address to a person- i mean, you can, but they will just use a different one.

nice copy and paste.
209  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Menbership- 3.5m registered only 56k members survived?..... Why? on: June 01, 2023, 08:49:18 PM
i do think there should be a static 728x60 banner on all pages thats available only for members to buy, to promote their own projects/programs. i think the userbase is active enough in the btc space to float a members only ad buy.
I don't know if you were around at the time, but there used to be an option for one to advertise their service using Ad banners. The ad spaces would be auctioned periodically, and the winners would have an opportunity to have their service banner delayed in the ad spaces

Theymos, however, suspended ad sales for a few reasons he mentioned, you can check out this post; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5407725.msg60976136#msg60976136

yeah, after posting i read about that. i understand his concern with the time it takes to see if its real etc.. but if it was from only members, sr. members+, that issue would vanish. but regardless i get it.. the hosting+bw bill can't be too crazy with a forum, it's actually kinda dope there are no ads.

i guess what i mean is, with these smaller crypto casinos, you can deposit and play before filling out any information. with a brick casino's site you can't deposit without adding your bank info or cc... so if you're on the self block list you are stopped before you can relapse.

then they start selling their butt.

one of the things that bothers me about gambling with crypto is the lack of identity verification. the self ban list that brick casinos, and their sites, have can really help someone with a gambling problem. they can add their name to the list, and they are barred from entering that casino, certainly from cashing anything out.

i really feel for people that have a problem like that. that's got to be the worst kind of addiction, it's like alcoholics.. imagine how hard it is to stop, or stay sober, when it's EVERYWHERE. at least when someone stops doing coke, they don't see it on every corner or in every ad.
214  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to stop overthinking? on: June 01, 2023, 07:14:17 PM
overthinking is fine... the problem is overthinking while not being productive. start a business, then sit back and overthink every possible outcome. its like eating cheese burgers while jogging, it's all good.. but stop jogging, and pow you're a fat ass.

The difference between a gambling addict and a professional is likely the difference between having a winning night or a losing night. Lol. In reality, I think gambling addiction just boils down to greed. People feel like they deserve to win a ton of money and think casinos are the way for them to get what they deserve. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work like that.

it has nothing to do with greed and everything to do with escapism. read the book addiction by design. i never really understood gamling addiction until i read that book. my friends would goto the casino with $10k and end up losing it all to the slots over 8+ hours.. i could never understand it, i'd say to them, bro you walked in with a jackpot what the hell are you doing? it's not about winning, it's about getting into the zone... and wins are only seen as more time on the machine, thus the zone.

crazy.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Benefit of bitcoin on: June 01, 2023, 12:05:22 PM
i think people forget or fail to understand that the underworld has fully adopted crypto. cartels, russian, mob.. their biggest problem wasn't getting contraband into a country, it was getting the cash back home. think of all the headaches.. well those days are long gone. a quick google search will tell you this is an estimated 32 billion dollar market. add sex and extortion and you can probably double it.
If you are suggesting that BTC is the best currency for criminals and money launderers, then you are not correct; take note that BTC transactions are not anonymous and everything is recorded in a public ledger which can be tracked to people's real identities. Money launderers move a lot of money, and they will find it difficult to convert it on crypto exchanges, and even if they do, it will be after series of kyc submissions which will expose their identity, cash is the best option for the "underworld", and not BTC.

i disagree. you can certainly buy coins with cash.. new address each buy... and you can certainly sell those coins a week later for diamonds, gold, cash.....or more drugs. if we can all agree on that, then where is the problem for these people? and just to clarify, i didn't say they were getting away with it, i just said they were doing it- and that it's one of the large unseen engines driving market cap.

yeah.. i would agree with fish on this one. anyway, its a pretty active forum.. the only ones that rival it on activity are for porn. i do think there should be a static 728x60 banner on all pages thats available only for members to buy, to promote their own projects/programs. i think the userbase is active enough in the btc space to float a members only ad buy.
