201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where is the fun when you lose your money? on: April 13, 2024, 09:56:09 PM
In my opinion I think there is still fun. Only that it is usually fun at first just before the lose the bet or stake. If you should logically think about it, no one is happy losing and definitely no one finds fun losing. However it is quite unfortunate that at times gamblers experience some loss along the line. For some gamblers, their main reason for gambling is the fact that they find it fun especially when it comes to sports, most gamblers are happy when they place bet for their team to win. This doesn't mean that you should stake on a lost cause. The point is just that a great deal of the joy a gambler has is before the bet especially in a case where they lost the bet.

203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: April 13, 2024, 09:03:41 PM
Well, they aren't called addicts for nothing. If there's no money to gamble and there's an urge to their mind, for sure they'll gonna take the risks just to satisfy their wants. Do you think it's psychological or an emotional need that gambling addicts tend to do this risks?
This is exactly how nasty some addicts are . Some can even go out of their way to do worse taking huge loans just for some mindless staking without even having a guarantee of how they could possibly get some money to offset the loan. This is the reason why at the end of the day , most of these addicts end up bankrupt some even at the brink of becoming homeless. If as a gambler you are not able to control yourself and manage time and money spent on gambling stakes and activities then you are either not mature enough to gamble or you too irresponsible. One of the major reasons gambling is 18+ plus is based on the capacity to make mature decisions.

205  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Health Benefits of Gambling on: April 13, 2024, 07:59:53 PM
You will only experience such mentioned health benefits if you know how to contain your gambling activities. But if not, I don't think you can appreciate what gambling has to offer because for sure you will financial stress for one. If you are into gambling because you are trying to hit some winnings because you have little to no more money in your pocket, I can say, you are just subjecting yourself to trouble.
Exactly gambling responsibly is all about self-control. Like you mentioned, in ability to manage your gambling activities properly will also cause you to become unable to get the emphasized health benefits of gambling. Infact gambling addiction in the literal sense is more like a core inability to manage gambling activities properly especially when in comes to the most important aspects which are the time related aspect and the staking aspect relating to money.
Many people are of the opinion that gambling has some key health benefits which is arguably true. However one can only enjoy such benefits if they can manage their gambling activities properly.
206  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Can I Recover a Mobile Wallet on Desktop Using 12-Word Phrases on: April 13, 2024, 05:29:30 PM
If you move the Bitcoins from the exchange to your wallet, you have simply given yourself full control over the coins. As long as you have your seed phrase, no matter the wallet you use ay where in the world, you will have full access to the coins. This is the reason why people are advised to avoid storing their coins in exchanges because in such cases the exchange has full control over them thus you have no seed phrase or master key to control the coins.
In addition you have to make sure the moved coins from the exchange was confirmed even at least a single confirmation will permit your spending in most wallets.

Don't forget to keep your keys safe 😁

208  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understanding bull and halving. on: April 13, 2024, 09:45:55 AM
Due to certain unclear or somewhat vague statements, I have successfully updated the Op making most of the key points distinct and and still as summarized as possible. Thanks to Cricktor, as well as everyone who made little corrections, the most attention and changes was given and made to the part that discussed Bitcoin mining.

While we're approaching the bull run, many are still misinformed about what halving is all about. I've seen people on social media explaining that halving is going to cut the supply of Bitcoin which is totally wrong. The supply is fixed to 21M but the reward for miners will be cut into half.
This is very true as a lot of persons confuse halving for burning. And although some Bitcoins in the past were burned, burning Bitcoins currently won't be anywhere near easy because of the fact that it has grown so much in value . therefore the person burning it would suffer great loss presently compared to when Bitcoins was just a few cents or dollars.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going all in and losing the bet on: April 13, 2024, 08:57:11 AM
Well, that's what happens when you are losing. It's always going to be biased towards yourself and not how it would work. I'm pretty sure that if you have played different games that are like this, it would be common to experience this. Maybe just lay back and not go all in. Even if it's on the "sure or high-chance" of winning" still manage your risk so you won't get emotional.
Like I always recon, most gambling activities are based on luck and sometimes luck isn't always on our side therefore making us lose. And a funny thing to note is how most gamblers are always confident some of their stakes will come out a win but unfortunately it doesn't always that way even in cases where they may have placed huge stakes hoping for bigger returns.
Therefore as a responsible gambler you should be able to manage both you funds and time. Now when it comes to fund management, a gambler should have a target maximum spending amount for every week. Meaning you should stop staking once you have hit that maximum amount. This would help you prevent unnecessary staking and thus help you control and manage the money you spend while gambling.
210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: April 13, 2024, 08:46:02 AM
It is very difficult to prevent young children from gambling in Burdwan. That's because the smartphone is going very easily in their hands, which is becoming very difficult to control. If kids are not controlled from smart phones they are getting involved in gambling at a very young age and very well become addicted. Due to which children should play a controlling role in the use of smartphones.
In my opinion it isn't. If you should agree with me , logically a kid is some who isn't up to the age of 18 and therefore can't be trusted to make proper decisions for themselves and therefore need guidance. Some people will even argue that an individual up to 18 years of age is still a kid. The entire idea is mainly the ability to make mature decisions. Therefore parents are the ones responsible for kids who gamble at a very early age this is because they should be the ones guiding them and if they fail to do so the kids may fall into wrong decision making based on their sorrounding environment and peers.

212  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The dangers of AI to us as they can be use for crypto stealing malwares on: April 12, 2024, 03:05:17 PM
The most important aspect of this post is the fact that you have helped create a nice form of awareness against malwares of this nature. +1 for your information op. However it is important to note that AI is simply an advancement and plus to modern technological advancements and therefore it is neutral.  Every single AI created has its distinct motive for it's creation . It is this reason or motive of creation that actually determines the use of the AI. If an AI was created to assist in generating malwares to aid hackers during their hacking processes, the creators are to be blamed not the AI since it's role is to obey a certain command .

The fact is that we are just at the verge of AI advancement and subsequently better AI models and types will flood the technological space as time goes on. Therefore as a tech person you should try as much as possible to get updated on malwares and hacks like these to help us level up our security consciousness from time to time.
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In what currency other than the USD you know the price of Bitcoin by heart? on: April 12, 2024, 02:54:54 PM
Well firstly, to answer the question of the topic, I kinda have a range estimate for Bitcoin price in my local currency which is naira. However the problem is even when it comes to value fluctuation USD is a better currency at keeping a stable rate compared to Naira. In fact Nigerian naira is so volatile that almost a 100% of major exchanges online especially import and export are based on the dollar. Therefore it's almost unimportant to keep updated on the price of Bitcoin straight to Naira, instead most persons take not of the Bitcoin to Dollar price and then they can make use of the dollar to naira since it's quite easier that way.

The undoubtable fact is that a great percentage of the world's exchanges are done using an estimation of dollar price or value. This is mainly because of political dominance and the overall size of the US economy compared to many others. However although USD is quite stable, others like  Kuwaiti dinar and Gibraltar pound are more stable although they are used in almost no global exchanges.
214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodling or selling? on: April 11, 2024, 07:01:12 PM
I guess everyone who bought Bitcoin 2- 3 years ago and have been  hodling since that time, will definitely continue Hodling. Halving is estimated to be approximately just a couple of weeks away and with the recent price boosts for some time now, many Bitcoin enthusiasist are speculating $100k or even more. With that kind of profit many long term Hodlers will be holding as long as possible.
Some persons are still selling anyways( the short term holders) and even crypto traders. Besides the fact that everyone just can't Hodl, selling at the current price it still a hell lot of profit to some persons especially earliest adopters.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Received a payment with low fees, stuck already for 3,5 days now on: April 11, 2024, 06:29:42 PM
Just like many other members here have spotted out, the fee used to broadcast that transaction is very low. Observing the mempool for a week now , lowest priority fees have been around about 7 - 9 sat/bytes. Judging from this it may take weeks or even forever for such transactions to be confirmed. However the few couple of options I think you can take is either you convince the sender to bump the fee ( if he initially enabled RBF) . Or alternatively you can make use of accelerators probably via BTC. Since their free service have been flooded with bots lately, you can opt for a paid acceleration.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Health Benefits of Gambling on: April 11, 2024, 05:45:49 PM
In my opinion I don't think gambling has any special health benefits except from the arguable fact that it can help reduce stress in some persons. Since a lot of gamblers view gambling as a fun activity then those set of individuals will definitely be of the opinion that gambling can reduce stress since it's a fun activity and most fun activities help reduce stress. The fact that gambling can reduce stress is also arguable since some people even end up being tensed and stressed up during some gambling sessions especially those where they had accumulated losses and had a lot of thinking and analysis on their mind before placing the next bet.
The truth is for a topic like this, people will definitely view it two sided therefore the stress reducing or causing effect depends on the gambler himself and not the gambling activity.
217  Other / Meta / Re: Option to Allow / Restrict merits on the OP Posts on: April 11, 2024, 12:09:35 PM
Nice Idea op but I don't think it's necessary. As long as a post carries quality, a majority of persons would definitely merit it as long as they have some smerits to spare. Every one here has the choice to send some merits of they have some smerits  and everyone also has a choice not to send. Most of the time members here can merit posts based on how much they like it so restricting someone from meriting a post that he likes is quite awkward .
Also if you come to think of it , who doesn't like it when they earn merits Huh Smiley (no one I guess) .if you look closely you would even notice that when you earn merits it gives you some level of confidence on the quality of the post.
218  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: For Electrum users. Stake your public key on: April 11, 2024, 02:51:53 AM
This is quite a nice guide _act_ I myself have use PGP encryption a couple of times, thanks to guides similar to this on the forum. I really don't have a very strong technically knowledge on how the electrum encryption and decryption actually works. However I have  personally noticed that when it comes to things of this relation, people usually go for the option of using a Bitcoin signed message.
The only main question I have in mind is if someone that doesn't make use of electrum will be able to decrypt an encrypted message from an Electrum wallet following this guide. Because although Electrum is a very good open source wallet, there are a bunch of other nice ones too some people prefer to it. So is it in any way feasible?
219  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You will lose more if you DCA without knowledge on: April 11, 2024, 02:30:03 AM
What thing is easy without proper understanding? Almost nothing. Dollar cost averaging has a couple of little technicalities to it which you have to have a Good grasp of like the knowledge required in simple stock trading. Things like this is the reason why you notice that a lot of people tend to prefer hodling Bitcoin to dollar cost averaging and other trading related stuff, simply because of the technicalities that come with it. Aside from DCA , Bitcoin too has its level of volatility which if you are a short term Hodler, you have to be able to manage as efficient as possible in order maximize your profits. Long term Bitcoin hodlers have not much to worry about when it comes to volatility since all they have to do is buy in the dip , hodl and sell at bull.
The fact is , to become a nice Bitcoin Hodler a the most important thing you have to do is to understand the security of your coins and how to protect important information like your keys and seed.
220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a habit of tracking your gambling progress? on: April 10, 2024, 06:50:47 PM
There is nothing bad in the making of such determination in keeping for the track records of our gambling progress, this will serves as reference to us in recent games and we may have a look on them in other to know some areas of our weakness from those previous games and be able to work on them for our own desired future expectations while gambling, this is not aimed at getting us discouraged, but instead we work more on how to use such opportunity in learning one or two things that will be useful and applicable on our future games.
Tracking your gambling activities and progress is something that a responsible gambler would rationally do. For most gamblers, it would help them become able to track their spendings on bets and stakes. In can even go as far as providing an easy and suitable way for the gambler to keep track of the amount of time he spends on gambling activities.
The fact is you can't manage something properly if you are unable to keep proper track of it from time to time. Some persons will even argue that people who don't keep track of their spendings are gambling are addicts. Being a responsible gambler isn't that much easy but I believe keeping track of your spendings is definitely important.
