201  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Know how to use Fundamental and Technical Analysis on: November 11, 2023, 09:42:31 AM
Fundamental tells you what to do, while Technical tells you when to do it

This is very detailed for a lay man to understand the difference between fundamental and technical analysis. They both have their unique benefits and they can complement each other to help a trader make more informed and successful trades. Fundamental analysis can help you to identify potential opportunities and technical analysis can help you determine the best entry and exit points for a trade. Using both fundamental and technical analysis can help a trader to stay disciplined in trading. You know sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the emotions of the moment and either buy or sell a coin based on our feelings but using both fundamental and technical analysis can give us a clear and objective way to make decisions. The truth is that we have to keep in mind when using both fundamental and technical analysis that they're not perfect tools and there is always the potential for unexpected events to happen.

This part you said made me remember the time I bought BGB, Rune and SOL. There was a lot of positivity around this token before this altcoin surge period. Seeing that people were so positive about these coins, I just bought a few units and now I appreciate the fundamentals

What I didn't was to trade. You know, as you said. Unexpected things could happen. I wanted to be sure of their movement before taking the next action
202  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Know how to use Fundamental and Technical Analysis on: November 11, 2023, 09:37:28 AM
I tend to agree that fundamental analysis is more suited for long-term analysis, rather than solely relying on what the media publishes as news. Instruments with strong fundamentals are likely to yield good results and, of course, offer us significant profit potential. In fundamental analysis, we focus on the related company or technology, as in the case of Bitcoin.

For example, Bitcoin's fundamental analysis includes its extremely high investor confidence and its ability to attract new institutional investors due to its relatively young age... also the limited supply is a long-term consideration because it will impact the deflationary value in the future.

To me, fundamental analysis serves as a long-term reference for investments, while technical analysis tends to focus on the short term by analyzing candlestick patterns and news events that affect price movements over a brief period.

Damn!! You're so good. To be frank, all I do is to look into what the news would impact in the market and not focus on little details like this. Most often, as I said earlier, what I use is the insight from exchanges because they tend to summarise everything happening in the crypto world. I guess next time I'd be paying attention to little details like this
203  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Know how to use Fundamental and Technical Analysis on: November 10, 2023, 03:24:12 PM
Let me make this to be short, both technical and fundamental analyses are very important. You hear of good news, miners are not selling, exchange outflow to noncustodial wallet is increasing, long term holders are not selling, the present bitcoin spot ETF approval and many others like that makes the price of bitcoin to increase. The technical analysis is good too. You can still know that the price of bitcoin is not as high as all-time-high, you do not need to ask anybody, you can see it from the chart while analysing. You can also see from the chart a lot of information that makes it important. Both are very important and not need comparison.

Yeah, that's, more like it. I don't seem to compare the both but I do see people saying Technical Analysis is better. I do believe that both are good particularly fundamental which can direct you about the long-term journey of a particular asset. That's why is better before making any decision, we check both. I do get weekly insights on these two exchanges I use mostly Binance and Bitget, then check up some other news apps before deciding to trade
204  Economy / Trading Discussion / Know how to use Fundamental and Technical Analysis on: November 10, 2023, 03:00:44 PM
So, my friend who just started trading asked me which is better Fundamental and Technical Analysis. So, this is the reply I gave which I also decided to share with others who don't know how this works hand in hand.

Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis are not inherently better than each other. Fundamental Analysis allows you to assess the potential direction of a coin's price, whether it's bearish or bullish. For instance, you can observe how Bitcoin's price has responded to positive news, which you can find on exchanges news insights, as well as popular news apps. Technical Analysis comes into play to further analyze price movements. Is just as easy as that.

Fundamental tells you what to do, while Technical tells you when to do it
205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Treating bitcoin as a teenager. on: November 10, 2023, 12:08:07 PM
I have read many articles exaggerating bitcoin price prediction's from both those who claim to be professionals and diverse bitcoin enthusiasts which I felt the necessity within to drop this piece figuratively.

We are expecting too much from bitcoin in just a short time of about 13years since it's creation. By logic bitcoin is just a teenager who has not yet attained the status of adulthood like the forex market for example, yet it has penetrate and saturate the financial market (global economy) becoming the talk of the town in the internet like it has been here 50 years ago.

The high expectations should be moderated so we can be able to appreciate the milestone growth bitcoin price has made. Commensurable with its age bitcoin price is doing great and only those who are not highly expectant setting their price  scale at a great distance of 100k, 150k, 200k will care to appreciate the feat, some even predict as high as $1M in the next bull run and when the price doesn't go even close as expected they complain that the performance of bitcoin has been poor.

And this can be so discouraging for investors that planned on long term hodling with such a high expectancy. Learn to treat bitcoin like a teenager that's just coming up and still has its future ahead of it and stop the unequal comparison with other financial instruments like gold that have been around for decades.

A number of persons might suggest i move the topic to speculation board, however, I fondle it also suites here because the topic is not giving a prediction for BTC price but otherwise.

When you go to Twitter, the predictions get funnier. I could remember when Bitcoin was at $31k and almost all the professional traders as they tag themselves claimed that BTC would fall from there. All of a sudden BTC rose to $34k.

The moral of this is to make sure you make your informed decision.. There are a couple of news apps and even some exchanges are doing well in giving out some daily news insights. So rather than listening to their speculations, make your prediction and be prevented from expectations
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investment, Beyond "Invest What You Can Afford to Lose" on: November 10, 2023, 11:58:21 AM
Even after reading this post, all I can advise everyone is to still invest what they can afford to lose!. Do not think that just because Bitcoin has done well over the years we should neglect risk management. I think of investment in a way that once I've put my money in there, I have lost it (just to keep myself from being too anxious and always checking). I have lost quite some amount of money in crypto, and for the times that it happened, I never felt shocked cause I always acknowledged that I could lose it all. So, investment as a whole is a risk and one should be risk-conscious when being a part of any investment (be it Bitcoin or not.)

At a point, I wanted to support Op's point but after reading through other comments, it made me realise one thing. I have indeed lost money in the crypto space. So, I agree with what you said because during the period in which I lost those money, I didn't panic, as I had decided that I could either win or lose with this money. That's why these days, I play it safe when it comes to the period I invest in Bitcoin and the period I trade as I use mostly the smart trend to do that
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Centralised exchange getting better than Decentralised exchange? on: November 05, 2023, 04:04:37 PM
Let's unify the functions first, I use dex to buy new tokens which means smart contracts are not available on cex if they are not centralized, that's what I usually do instead of missing a project.

The security factor between the 2 different wallet options, cex like binance is a shared wallet and has a legal umbrella with regulations available in each country that has recognized crypto, as evidenced by the ftx ceo and terraform funders who are guilty and punished meaning their is an identity that is published as from the exchanger team, while non-custodial like bitget wallet is very vague, creepy and security is in full control by yourself. You can choose to trade publicly or trade anonymously with your favourite coins as usual.

Non-custodial exchanges and wallets have many options, you say that with the facts you have encountered, it is good and security can be maximized, vulnerability can be minimized, anticipation is a must.

Ok, but I have not seen anyone using the bitget wallet complain of it being vague or creepy. Come to think of it, if you think of it like that, then It's like calling all Dex wallets creepy because the wallet also works like a Dex. And it's true, security is in the owner's hands. That's why everyone needs to be careful about how they share their information with a third party
208  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Trade vs. HODL - avoid traps on: November 04, 2023, 05:46:59 PM
Original Topic: Trade vs. HODL - avoid traps
Author:1miau

After all, We know say bitcoin get value well well, so we go need safe guard am and even if e fit dey possible self make we increase weytin we dey hold but if we wan do like that ba, Make we dey sure say we don avoid plenty traps wey dey.
One of this plenty traps na to fall for misconception e mean say make we no get wrong idea on how we go take increase the gain wey we dey get from trading our Bitcoin for better way.

Trade vs. HODL

Bitcoin's fundamentals make am not comparable to HODL because Bitcoin’s supply dey limited to 21M units itself. By HODLing, Bitcoin go fit increase likely in value long-term and HODLing na our safest way to dey make profit. Risk dey low and e go likely succeed.
But we go dey patient and e go dey helpful and dey safe for long-term gains instead wey you go rush am and the profit no go dey secure.

Technical analysis dey risky

Some people don dey talk am say, to dey trade through technical analysis na e be better and obonge way to take make money na lie because e dey very very risky, especially for short terms (day trading). if them go fit predict technical analysis, e for dey easy to take credit, give am to expert person wey don they for this business and e go get gain.
Dey careful make you no go fall for that kind thing, na scam!
Because if technical analysis na better way to take get gain , everybody for don turn to millionaires. Coder for don code all these "technical analysis patterns" make them fit trade according to them. That type of program no dey exist because e no dey work. Them no fit predict technical analysis and e no dey reproduce better thing.
Like xkcd explain am: technical analysis dey more like a pseudo science:

https://xkcd.com/2101/

HODL instead!

When we dey HODLing, we de take advantage of Bitcoin scarcity. Bitcoin dey limited to 21 M BTC. and every 210,000 blocks, block rewards (for people wey de mine) e go con dey like say dey don cut away some parts, e go dey reduce new issued unit of Bitcoin go be like every 4 years. By HODLing, we just de take advantage from Bitcoin scarcity because Bitcoin na something wey dey good to dey save. E fit dey easy to disappear for Bitcoin price but as plenty people dey wey them get to hold, we go dey see say the price don dey better and e don dey more stable-Demand go dey increase for Bitcoin even more as a store of value.

E fit take some years before we go fit see some better gain as per say Bitcoin price don de move for cycle for over 4years now but as e be like this HODLing don prove to say e de reliable (and e go make Bitcoin no disappear like dat again). Wink

tl;dr:
Better HODL, don't trade!  Smiley

Nice translation OP. But you know some people are good with this trading and again in as much as we know holding is good there other little things people can do to earn small small as they hold.

What do I mean, some can try using Spot trading? Where you can buy low and sell high. This trading is very much ok for those who are not always available to trade and also if we talk about holding, we should know that buying at a low price is more advantageous than buying at the top when others are selling. I do all sha and most times use smart trend to help me know what I'm doing
209  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Best way to invest in Bitcoin on: November 04, 2023, 05:05:03 PM
So many options to buy Bitcoin, you can decide to buy directly through exchange like binance or Coinbase. You can also make use of the Bitcoin focused investment vehicle like a Bitcoin ETF or like Grayscale Bitcoin trust.
One thing you must know when taking a decision to invest in Bitcoin .It's highly speculative investment.  That's why it's more advice able to invest the amount you are comfortable losing.as Bitcoin price go up and down this season by hundred of dollars.

I mostly use Dual Investment on bitget. It works well for me
210  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Naira hits highest level since September 20th, trade as high as N972 on Binance on: November 04, 2023, 04:56:59 PM
The new CBN governor said he would address the backlog of unpaid foreign exchange commitment. The Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria, has commenced the payment and this is what stated to have been the reason for the recent increase in naira price.

https://punchng.com/naira-gains-as-cbn-pays-banks-6-7bn-forex-backlog/
https://www.legit.ng/business-economy/money/1561653-dollar-set-crash-n1000-cbn-finally-finds-solution-forex-challenges/

With this current development, are there still chances that the naira will keep strengthening against the dollar in the international market?
We are in a developing country, and in Nigeria. Since 1973 that naira was created, it has been fallen. I see this as a temporary solution. Which means that naira may still later continue to depreciate. But this is in comparison with the United States dollar.

How about comparing it with bitcoin, this is still a good time to hodl bitcoin because naira and bitcoin is not comparable to how bitcoin is superior.

No need to write much again because you literally said my mind. Honestly, I'm glad I'm using this dual investment to buy Bitcoin at every possible means because I don't know if this Naira is for the long term or not
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Centralised exchange getting better than Decentralised exchange? on: November 04, 2023, 04:46:47 PM
I don't want to compare which one is better, really for users it depends on their usage skills and choosing the platform that suits their needs. It is more important that you know how to protect yourself against the risks that appear on different platforms, and remember that there is no absolute perfect tool, it depends on your own usage behavior.

The cryptocurrency space is widely popular today, and there are many different attack problems that appear, so don't be too confident that any platform will ensure your assets are always safe, lessons from The past happened a lot from CEX, or DEX, both of which have useful and challenging points for us.

Indeed and to mention with, the exchanges one chooses at this period also matter. At least the ones I have posted have shown a level of security.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Centralised exchange getting better than Decentralised exchange? on: November 04, 2023, 04:41:10 PM
Nope, centralized exchanges is becoming more regulated year by year and that is not a good sign for a trader. centralized exchanges have their advantages too like high trading volume, more trading pairs, support system etc but the term better is used to denote the security of funds in my opinion where centralized exchanges can't be trusted no matter what.

Yeah, there are different factors we need to be looking into before choosing an exchange. We can think about that POR, their transparency and the level in which they operate
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Be watchful it's not yet time on: November 04, 2023, 09:49:21 AM
Many people have gained trust that we are automatically back to the bullrun, this made them to be free in choosing altcoin and newly launched tokens without knowing that cryptocurrency price action and movement are so unpredictably. It could be high at this very moment and In the next few moments we may witness a serious dip without knowing what propelled to such rejection in price.

Deep down inside out minds we taught the halving is already there, so therefore we are free to still make whatever choices we want since any coin we buy and hold makes progress during the bullrun, It would likely affect us by making wrong choice. Do your research and never rely on anyone to give you accurate information about any projects because it's your money and by no chance did those people contributed to you.

Good luck and stay safe while we patiently wait to swimming into bull season.

Bull Run is not back yet. Is just hype, is only those who understand their chart can run with the hype and know exactly when to exit the market. If one is unsure, I don't know but they could try the dual Investment method. Done a topic about it and how it minimises risk
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Massive rise on bitcoin price, Is this a bullish Sign or ETF hype? on: November 04, 2023, 09:44:46 AM
ON-CHAIN analysis on the series shows that there are attemptwills to take profits, which makes the price try to reach the $40,000 psychological level, but the continuation of the upward trend is what will achieve this, but it is not linked to the ETF, otherwise there would have been a continuation of pumping the price after $31,400, which would have easily brought us to 52,000.

What is happening now is that the price was lower than its value, so breaking the support level led speculators to consider it an opportunity to speculate on the rise and that it is time to take profits.

It does not indicate or will indicate acceptance or rejection of the ETF.

I see $40k as the level in which investors would want to distribute their money. Like you said, take profit. But if you go online, you would see a lot of big influencers making noise about BTC dump. For now, I have already set my smart trend strategy to get the best entry Cheesy I'm looking at $45k as their distribution limit though
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think a new memecoin $MEMEFARMS will skyrocket in 2023? on: November 04, 2023, 09:38:34 AM
I think it's enough for us to talk more specifically about meme coin brands, basically these types of coins are the same. After all, you have missed the meme hype train, it has already passed with many of the last holders not getting a fair return. For every 1 person, thousands of others get nothing.

There is nothing that can conclude that such a coin has futuristic value, it is just a momentary pump dump scheme.

Yeah, what I do usually with all these meme coins when it get listed, is, I look for means to buy quickly so I can exist when the hype of the meme is still on. That's the same trick I used formemecoin that went live few days ago and I don't need to hold up for long to know what would happen next.

I only do those techniques for memes. While for alts, I wait for a retracement
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you like Meme Coins (Pepes project)? on: November 04, 2023, 09:32:37 AM
Memecoin would always be known for one objective, pump to earn!

I won't advise anyone who is starting crypto to see memecoin as an escape root. Except you know your way around. There are a lot of memecoin out there. Just like the post, I was talking about alts.

You can see tons of them on Dex but a good meme coin that won't rug-pull you can also be found on a cex. I know of Pepe, Doge, Shib and this recent one Memecoin. All gave those who invested in it a good profit
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are Altcoins Fake? on: November 04, 2023, 09:15:15 AM
There are so many scam altcoin projects, but they don't survive the market for long. The problem is that it is common for legit and even major altcoins to be dead in the long term. If you check top 100 ranking from 2016 then you will see there are many projects that were in the top 100 that don't exist in the market any more. Their technology became old fashioned and the industry moved to another narrative or their development team stopped developing the project. The altcoin market is actually a bit different from bitcoin market because most of the time old altcoin projects don't do well in the long run. That is the reason there are so many new altcoins and new narratives coming to the market on a regular basis. This is how the altcoin market is surviving by creating new projects and narratives.

Most of these top 10 projects you're talking about got affected by blackswan and also covid19. We should also know that Bitcoin also got affected but due to the level of commitment the community has, we see it rise. Now, the same thing is happening to most of the coins I listed and even BGB as well.

How strong a project community is, also helps in determining how long a project could last in the market
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are Altcoins Fake? on: November 04, 2023, 09:10:04 AM
If you follow the news since the beginning of a project, surely you have a logical perspective because every time there is an ANN update of course, you update your knowledge including the performance of the team or work with any developer, celestia is an airdrop by participating as a node validator, and this is a long enough time span for research, there are several similar coins such as aptos, I think these people already know about the possibility of a new project developing in other words, participants only participate, yes, if a project to the moon is a fortune, no one can guess the path of a project, but if you want to try to dig up information on Twitter and airdrop channels for each country, I'm sure there is.

The exchange is a gateway to buy instantly without waiting for the acquisition of shares, meaning that you can get more, let's say we buy a private sell, I'm sure we often encounter this if we monitor a project, even though the price is cheap, not everyone wants to buy even a little, if it has entered the dex it has entered the public and if it has entered the cex the price has increased several tens of times, I think there is a lot of liquidity, it is natural to get a lot of benefits for presaleal buyers, the most logical reason is because it is early and contributes to the development of the project.

If you like altcoins with real performance after listing on cex, you can buy for daily scalping or arbitrage, some cex will not pump the price simultaneously even if listing on the same day.

Now, this is what I'm talking about. Some who read through and understood what I'm trying to convey.

Oh yes! Some coins don't necessarily need to pump when is are listed on a cex. Okay, let me use This TIA that got launched for instance. Immediately It went live, I saw done impressive move up. Some who don't understand the system would want to FOMO thinking the coin would keep going up.

Now, the reason it went that high is because of the hype by early investors looking for where to sell and at the done point, it will start showing some signs of corrections. Those who bought high would call it shitcoin, while those ego waited for retracement would see an opportunity to buy, waiting for the next move up.

You see why I say cex most times help in filtering this altcoin when is already launched on DEX because would want to be the cex that lists tons of shitcoins in the long run
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are Altcoins Fake? on: November 03, 2023, 12:25:04 PM
Altcoins are real and I don't think we can say that altcoins are fake because the evidence is already there and many altcoins that exist today are circulating so that indicates that altcoins are real but when talking about profits and fraud it is different in terms of context because in the end we already know that most of the altcoins or projects that exist today are hoaxes but we cannot say that they are fake because altcoins are real. I guess for this comes from our thinking because at the end of the day even if we don't believe in altcoins it doesn't mean that it is something fake because at the end of the day there are still some projects that are running and still viable like some of the big altcoins like ETH, BNB etc. But on the other hand we also have to realize that even though we don't believe in altcoins, it doesn't mean it's fake. But on the other hand we must also realize that this is only a small percentage of the majority that are indeed scams.

I don't really like being in altcoins right now because I am fully devoted to bitcoin, but I don't think that altcoins are fake because there are still some projects that can still run even though I am not in them.

Maybe what the OP can conclude about alts is that most projects are not real as the devs behind them are here only for profits.
But there are still few that have actual use case just like you mentioned, ETH and BNB or those top alts.
This is why every user should be very cautious in investing on any alt, particularly the new ones because they have very short lifespan.
Simple digging on these alts would give you insights if the project is here for long term or not.

The one's the devs are not genuine about I could call shitcoins. They're just there for the very least of it. If we keep looking up to these big alts and forgetting that they're other good lower alts out there, we might end up missing it all. We are here to make a profit and we need to know when to enter and exit the market. Just look at Sol for instance how well it is doing. TIA and few others might be good and is also left for us to know if is for the long or short term
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are Altcoins Fake? on: November 03, 2023, 11:57:43 AM
Your thread title doesn't align with the content. Shitcoins have made it seem like the entire altcoin endeavor is an obvious scam but it's not. I'm aware of some altcoins that is currently pushing the boundary of the possibilities of blockchain. You mentioned TIA (Celestia), INJ (injective), ETH, etc. These are some of the tokens that have done exactly that. Ethereum for example pioneer the entire altcoin space bringing Programmable smart contracts to run directly on a blockchain which is something that researchers are still pushing very hard to do on bitcoin with the introduction of BitVM.

In a way it rhymed. I wanted to bring people to the notice that Not all coins are shit coins. As you have mentioned, most coin can do incredibly well
