201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling ombudsman - do you feel protected? on: August 30, 2021, 04:16:05 AM
Definitely not, to be honest.

These government bodies are moreso there for show than to actually protect players imho. When there is an actual issue with a crypto sportsbook or whatnot, do you really think they have the attention or the resources to track it down?

You're the only one that has the ultimate control over your consumer rights - so make sure you DYOR before you entrust a service with any amount of money.
202  Economy / Gambling / Re: [CLOSED] ★BetBTC★ Sportsbook | Bitcoin Sports Betting | Since 2014 on: August 29, 2021, 01:25:30 AM
Here is my suggestion. After 1 September, which is the official date for closure of withdrawals, maybe you could leave a page containing instructions and contact details that anyone else who missed out withdrawing or has any other past issues could use to contact the team and have problems solved  Wink

Definitely.

That would be critical to maintaining the reputation of the company given that people might feel scammed if they weren't given an option to withdraw after the deadline, although I'm sure this was in BetBTC's plan in the first place.

A shame to see you guys go, and hopefully it's onwards and upwards from here!
203  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Bull Attempts to Break $50,000 - A Psychological Hurdle as well as The Next on: August 29, 2021, 12:00:14 AM
Yeah, definitely a big psychological resistance here.

I think that if we are able to break through that level then we would be in for a trend reversal and see the bulls resurge to the $60k level to test the ATH.

But if not, we're probably going to see a correction down to $35k again to test support there. Either way, I think that with the institutional presence this time round we're more likely to get a band of stability compared to the volatility that we've seen in the past.
204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best Sports Gambling Websites on: August 28, 2021, 03:17:07 AM
What's wrong with Nitrogen? Haven't heard anything bad regarding them.
They just received couple of scam accusation due to bad experiences and some negative feedback on top of it.

Ah right. I didn't even know.

I mean they did resolve it and have been along for a very long time, which makes me quite comfortable with placing small bets with them. Anything major though I'd probably go with somewhere else.

Stake is probably the most reputable one right now then. Can't go wrong with them.

What's wrong with Nitrogen? Haven't heard anything bad regarding them.

Bovada is a big player but they've got my jurisdiction blocked, so can't access them.

Sportsbet.io, Stake, and Nitrogen have all been around for quite a while and are good choices in my opinion. I don't see how you can go wrong with any of them. Bet365/betfair if you want to access fiat based markets as both of these firms support a range of currencies and locations.
206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [LIST] Gambling sites with internal exchange on: August 26, 2021, 12:58:51 AM
Highly recommend that absolutely no one use these internal services.

They essentially profit off the impatience and impulse of players who want to access another coin quickly. Fees as the table shows can go up to 5-10% easily, and spreads can contribute even more to that overall figure. Would you play a dice game where the house edge is 5% instead of 1%? Probably not.

Even using an instant exchanger gives you better outcomes than this. A bit of effort goes a long way here.
207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 61 year old plays the same numbers since 1991 and wins 18 millions on: August 25, 2021, 11:31:21 PM
Hopefully people don't fall into the trap of believing this stuff occurs regularly and go out and get lotto tickets on a regular basis themselves.

Lotteries are probably the worst game that you can play because they carry the absolute worst RTP you can imagine. Some of the lotteries (actually, most of them) have house edges of 50+%, which means that for every $1 you put into a lottery ticket you are expected to get less than 50 cents back.

I would rather spend it on other forms of entertainment, or heck, even sportsbetting/dice/casino games that return more to the player.
208  Economy / Services / Re: 1xbit.com honest review campaign (open) on: August 23, 2021, 09:52:38 PM
Honest review

Technology wise, 1xBit is certainly up there given that there is a wide range of altcoin support and live streams for most events. The apk app is a huge plus as well.

However, i fail to see how it is worth it for anyone to play on the site at the moment - there is simply too much risk with the allegations going on, despite all the recent efforts to try reverse course.

Also, i feel like that the no KYC policy will be overturned as a matter of time. As 1xBit grows there will be inevitable pressure from regulators that forces it to conduct KYC; and with the track record who knows if 1xBit will one day use KYC as an excuse to hold customer funds (who originally thought that they would never be subject to KYC procedures).

Cheers

209  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: August 23, 2021, 09:14:41 PM
yes i´m familiar with KYC and AML process so far

but i did not know that a kind of an extra Level (Proof of Source) is necessary. But to be honest its clear if we talk about high amounts that extra verify is needed.

so everything fine Smiley

Yeah, unfortunately it's something that you'd have to live with on more established crypto casinos.

These sites are simply trying to appease the regulators anyway and there is nothing that they can do.

Roobet is one of the best in the business and certainly wouldn't want to maliciously hold your funds with KYC as the excuse imo. Just play along with support and everything should be sorted based on my experience with them.
210  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance TA - Switch to BTC soon? on: August 23, 2021, 12:24:15 PM
I do think so.

Whenever the bitcoin market cycle peaks, there is a tendency for alts to overshoot their intrinsic value quite substantially.

We are seeing this already in markets like DeFi and NFTs where there is virtually no usage case at the moment, yet people are placing crazy valuations onto these tokens. BTC is a much more established store of value that people will appreciate once these side projects go bust.
211  Other / Archival / Re: Binance introduces KYC for all users on: August 23, 2021, 11:52:22 AM
Lmao, surprise surprise.

Looks like the golden days of Binance are now over and people are simply going to move over to a better exchange that doesn't force them to take KYC now. CZ's probably going to try to minimise damage by stepping down too.

This was obviously an inevitability that any sane person would have seen coming from a mile away. Although the search for alternatives would be interesting - all dominant players in the marketplace right now are regulated and require KYC, and those who don't are simply way too shady.
212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling on friendly matches on: August 23, 2021, 11:26:50 AM
What's the point of even chasing these?

Real inefficiencies in the market are super hard to come by, and generally trends that we observe in sports gambling come about due to sheer luck as opposed to any real substance.

It's the harsh reality, but it's true. Given sufficient events, there is bound to be one pattern that seemingly repeats itself - for instance you winning on over/unders on friend matches. This is going to work until it doesn't - because there is simply no sound basis or reason for why this bet should have a positive EV in the long run.
213  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think financial stability is mandatory to be a gainer in Bitcoin invest? on: August 23, 2021, 11:02:03 AM
This is 100% spot on.

The thing that separates the poor from the rich is often not the sheer amount of assets that they hold, but the attitude that they have in regards to investments.

If you are financially well off then you can afford to hold onto positions for much longer, cover any margin calls, and overall sustain your investment horizon. Poorer individuals would often have to sell their assets to cover basic expenses. It's a positive feedback loop of wealth in essence.

Placed a few small-ish bets over the Olympics. Everything went smoothly.

I still wouldn't necessarily place a larger bet (anything larger than $100) right now until all cases are resolved, though. I like the efforts by 1xBit to try to correct their past wrongs but I can see that a lot of resolutions are still not in favour of the player necessarily.

Obviously, we don't know exactly what is happening to each case, but it would certainly be good to get more transparency - that should inspire a bit more trust and rescue the damaged reputation.

215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Twitch introduces restrictions on gambling-related links - deadline 17 Aug on: August 16, 2021, 05:02:16 AM
This is definitely a huge blow to these streamers.

However, I don't necessarily think that it will affect Twitch that much. All they said was that gambling related affiliate links can't be posted, it doesn't mean that streamers can't be offered exclusive deals with these casinos to promote their service still.

And I'm sure that enforcement of this will be spotty at best - it doesn't take too long to shorten an affiliate link into a bit.ly link at all.

Honest Review

1xBit has been around for quite a while now, pretty much from the early days of crypto. I played on this site quite extensively actually with their sportsbook, before the allegations started flooding in.

Deposit & withdrawals are quite fast at least back then, but I took a break from BTC and stopped playing there.

I think that the website design is fantastic, and it is really encouraging to see 1xBit coming out and resolving cases. Their customer support actually seems to be a lot more responsive compared to others. Obviously there are a lot of contention around whether each case is right or wrong, but I do hope that 1xBit is able to clear up their name soon.

217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top crypto currencys to buy on: November 08, 2017, 04:44:27 AM
Hi everyone, what are your recommendations of the top crypto currencys to buy now? I just purchased Bitcoins on Coinbase and am now looking for a few coins to invest in. Whats everyones top coins?

Do your own research and don't depend on others to do it for you, that is my personal opinion. Because what matters is what you believe in at the end of the day, and not what others believe in. Also usually what others believe in are simply hyped up coins with no future.

Right now, take a look at ETH, FCT and Ardor. All undervalued in my opinino.

But again, do your own research before you actually put your money into it.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to sell tokens on: November 08, 2017, 04:39:25 AM
I got few of the tokens in mew and waves wallet from bouty campaigns, but how can i sell them? I know to create account on exchanges and list these tokens, but how they pay after sold?

can we get in BTC or ETH?

I tried in searching forums but didnt get relevant answers. I also need how does this will work on waveswallet io

If there are no exchanges listing whatever tokens you hold then there is no way you can sell them, unless there are demand from private investors that are able to conduct a trade with you. Tokens from bounty campaigns usually will be worth not very much, unless you have picked a great project.

Either trade it on etherdelta(if it's possible), or wait for the dev team to list on an exchange.
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ALT hodl'ers vs BTC/ETH bulls - What to make of ALT's moving forward on: November 07, 2017, 10:18:46 AM
Curious to hear people's opinions regarding the rocket of BTC and the bear of Alt's. Do you think a correction is coming or do you think this is the event horizon for darwinism to cut through the ALT's and only bring a handful along for the rocket ride? Btc dip, dump, buy alts, hodl? btc for life? Alt hold and pray? Alt master strategy? Let's chat!

Altcoin investing in my opinion takes a lot more patience than bitcoin holding because in various periods of time you'll feel like that the price is absolutely going nowhere and that your altcoin investment is just going dead.

The correction in bitcoin's price has already come. And alts has risen a lot today.

In the long term, i think that the equilibrium for bitcoin dominance is around 2/3 of the entire crypto market cap. The index will always revert back to that percentage or thereabouts.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why is this so cheap? on: November 07, 2017, 09:39:24 AM

This seems like the perfect project, highly qualified team, great concept, tiny marketcap. But so far it's got very little attention. The ICO got peanuts and the thread is very quiet. I'm wondering if there is something I'm missing or it's a solid gold opportunity?

If you see an opportunity then go for it. I mean at least it's not one of the hyped up projects that have little upward opportunities. I like the minimalistic website but others may see the site as lacking in terms of information.

Also, it's worthy to note that there are a ton of "new internet" projects out there.

For this to stand out against all the rest, the team needs to commit to working on the project.
