201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if POKEMON GO let people earn Bitcoin? on: August 19, 2016, 05:25:07 AM
First of all, you can't do it until trading is allowed on Pokemon GO. I guess you could sell accounts with BTC, but not Pokemon.

Secondly, I don't think that it would take off like CSGO trading as the hack has already been developed. It even tells you where good Pokemon's are. Since many people have the hack, what is the point of selling them an >2000CPU Dragonite? Can't they  just catch it themselves?

Smiley

This is a "What if" question, not a "Can I" question. OP's asking whether or not it would be a good idea.

1. It's CP, not CPU.
2. It's hard to get dragonites even with hacks.
3. Niantic will just come up with better anti-cheats. Currently they don't have much of an incentive to.
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I want send a fixed transaction fee,how can I do it? on: August 19, 2016, 05:13:48 AM
I wouldn't recommend it. You could send a huge transaction with that tiny fee and get your funds frozen in the mempool. Or you could even overpay. 0.0001 is pretty low nowadays.
203  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger wallet - How to make an address totally disconnected from another? on: August 19, 2016, 04:10:58 AM
This is an interesting thread.  I suppose the Ledger must work differently than the Trezor.  I know with a Trezor you can use infinitely many passphrases and generate wallets that cannot be associated with the other wallets (even though the core Trezor seed is the same).  To restore you need the seed + the appropriate passphrase for each wallet.  Using your word "disconnected" the varying passphrases accomplish that task well, especially if the passphrases are complex!

I don't own a trezor, so I don't know if they use hierarchical deterministic wallets or not. But after doing some research, I've found out I was mistaken. It is impossible to link an address to another without knowing the private seed. The way walletexplorer works by finding addresses that are send-linked to each other. They may not technichally be connected by the same private key either, they could just be signed together.
204  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What wallet is best for windows on: August 19, 2016, 04:00:01 AM
If you're not going to hold much bitcoin, just use a web wallet. I guess it's the best option for you. But if you are holding more than that, you could invest in a hardware wallet. Even a ledger wallet if your chrome supports extensions.
205  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why it is said that bitcoin is centralized? on: August 19, 2016, 03:57:24 AM
People say bitcoin is centralized because a certain entity or group of people have control or more control than the majority of people in the community. The core devs basically have total control, as they are basically the only ones who can allow and add changes to the bitcoin protocol.
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recover access from wallet.dat on: August 19, 2016, 03:29:39 AM
Please tell me you didn't paste the wallet.dat into the text box and then edit it online...

No. Unless you have a HD wallet (You don't), your wallet will randomly generate keypairs into your wallet.dat. If you were to succesfully reclaim your bitcoin, that would be a private key collision. Something very very bad.
207  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Offline transaction - generate RAW transaction on: August 19, 2016, 03:25:37 AM
I'm guessing you're trying to find a way too automate cold storage spending? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that impossible?

208  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: For the super paranoid: How do I get the public key from a private key by hand? on: August 19, 2016, 03:23:24 AM

The dots and the plastic would be made of different materials meaning they have a different mass. This would mean the dots would make an effect on the weight (however small). But the engravings on the dice could cause it to be lighter on that face. Even throwing the die with a certain face up gives a higher chance of landing on the same face twice, especially if thrown by the same person.

Nothing is completely random.

the dots (pips) of die of that grade are usually the same material but just with a different color.

they have the exact same density.

the engraving though might be the only weak spot, and the way you throw them.

I've never gambled at a casino myself, but casino grade dice would probably have flat faces and not have engraved faces, due to this reason.
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need your Opinion on this guys! Please help. Best BTC WALLET for you. on: August 19, 2016, 03:03:43 AM
Bitcoin core for full wallet.  Electrum for SPV wallet.

Bet we'll see some replies recommending exchange wallets.

If you are in the Philippines, I suggest you use (CoinsPh). It is easy to use and the bitcoin is automatically converted into Peso Smiley.

Don't listen to this guy. CoinsPh is basically like coinbase. It's a fully online site, all your bitcoin is in control of them. They can run away with your funds at any time.
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: "A Solution Looking for a Problem" on: August 19, 2016, 02:39:52 AM
It is a great solution. But it already has problems. If it didn't have problems and was "perfect", I would be swimming in cash as my bitcoin goes to the moon.
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if POKEMON GO let people earn Bitcoin? on: August 19, 2016, 02:36:47 AM
Bad idea. If you monetize something like this, you're just asking for it to be botted, exploited and hacked. Pokemon go already has tons of botters, why would you want to add more?
212  Other / Off-topic / Petition against discrimination on: August 18, 2016, 01:29:36 AM

213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar , a failure ? on: August 17, 2016, 11:51:58 PM
Openbazaar is a really great idea. It really is. But crypto, especially bitcoin has gained a big idea of holding around it, which means people will be more inclined to sell and hold than buy.
214  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kim Dotcom Predict 2000$ per Bitcoin ??!! on: August 17, 2016, 11:48:07 PM
That's pretty cool. So like a torrent system that pays you to relay information? That's awesome.

It would really gain attention and could potentially bring bitcoin to yes, $2000.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 0.13.0 Binary Safety Warning on: August 17, 2016, 11:45:21 PM

Summary

Bitcoin.org has reason to suspect that the binaries for the upcoming Bitcoin Core release will likely be targeted by state sponsored attackers. As a website, Bitcoin.org does not have the necessary technical resources to guarantee that we can defend ourselves from attackers of this calibre. We ask the Bitcoin community, and in particular the Chinese Bitcoin community to be extra vigilant when downloading binaries from our website.

In such a situation, not being careful before you download binaries could cause you to lose all your coins. This malicious software might also cause your computer to participate in attacks against the Bitcoin network. We believe Chinese services such as pools and exchanges are most at risk here due to the origin of the attackers.

Mitigation

The hashes of Bitcoin Core binaries are cryptographically signed with this key.

We strongly recommend that you download that key, which should have a fingerprint of 01EA5486DE18A882D4C2684590C8019E36C2E964. You should securely verify the signature and hashes before running any Bitcoin Core binaries. This is the safest and most secure way of being confident that the binaries you’re running are the same ones created by the Core Developers.
Currently found on Bitcoin.org. There seems to be a lack of information regarding this. Any information (speculative posts are likely to be removed due to be insubstantial)?
By the way the above is written it seem as though they may have an idea who will be leading these "state sponsored attacks"
They say they have a "reason to suspect" do we know what that reason is?

"State sponsored attacks"... From my understanding that would be implying that the bitcoin.org has info that a government has the intention to maliciously attack bitcoin, or are funding hackers?

After doing a little search, I can't find anything on what the "reason" is.
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much do/would you donate/crowdfund and to what kind of projects? on: August 17, 2016, 11:42:49 PM
There are bitcoin freelance sites out there, there aren't many people on here looking for workers. If there are, there are only small or dust-paying jobs. I'd just use google to find jobs.

Welcome to the forum. In this forum there are 4 types of people:

People who don't have a signature campaign and post to provide people with relevant info about Bitcoin. 2%

People who have a signature campaign and post to provide people with relevant info about Bitcoin. 33% (like me Smiley)

People who have a signature campaign and post to get money through it. In other words, they don't care about the information they provide. 50%

Farmers who make 10 accounts at a time and spam to develop these accounts and sell them after a while. 15%

So you can see the majority are people who don't really care about the forum. Therefore, I don't find any point in donating Bitcoin to the forum.

Where did you get those numbers? I don't believe a word coming out of that keyboard of yours. Utter garbage. Not even on topic!
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 0.13.0 Binary Safety Warning on: August 17, 2016, 11:40:11 PM
I currently have a backup 0.12.1 wallet in case my primary ledger wallet fails. Because of this, should I not download the next version of qt until this problem is solved? Or should I download from github and compile it myself?
218  Other / Off-topic / Re: What to do with my signature campaign earnings ? on: August 17, 2016, 11:36:03 PM
Think of it as money. What do you want to do with money? Save it? Spend it? Honestly, you have cash that should be spent. Save your bitcoin.
219  Other / Off-topic / Re: du you spend coins on real life. on: August 17, 2016, 10:50:02 PM
i have not used any coins on my life till not . I am still trying to understand this system when i understand all i want to use my bitcoin and spent it too.

When you actually understand bitcoin, you will realise that you will be better off not selling your bitcoin for a couple of years. Good luck.
220  Other / Off-topic / Re: In 20 years, what would you like to do with your bitcoin? on: August 17, 2016, 10:47:11 PM
I Would withdraw most of my bitcoin stock if bitcoin hit the 1,000,000 dollar mark and buy an island and do multiple great wastes of money like a private jet etc... that's all a worth of thinking time if bitcoin doesn't hit it though,
More seriously, If it hits 1.000 Then I would spend some bitcoins and keep holding for a bigger rise.

In order to do that, you need to have at least 1000 bitcoins. There will be no more than 21,000 people in the world having more bitcoin than you.
yeah even today, in a rare person who has more than 1000 bitcoin? 1000 btc will be equivalent to $ 600K. it is a very big money dude ? I took hundreds of years to get the total amount? yeah the problem is how to collect so many bitcoin?

You guys are speaking gibberish. If you have 1000 bitcoin, you don't know how many people will be richer than you, but it will defenitely be less than 21k people.

People get this amount of bitcoin by being rich, or being early adopters. Either is highly unlikely for the both of you.
