The idea of this coin is to lay the foundations to give car park operators the platform to integrate with cryptocurrencies with ease.

I see Bitcoin as the tool that is trying to revolutionize the Financial Industry and it shouldn't stop there. There are many other industry's worldwide that could benefit from its technology.

ParkByte will be therefore specifically targeted at laying the foundations for processing parking transactions.

Currently Parking can be paid via many methods but I am yet to see a crypto related method.

In the UK we are able to pay for parking via Companies like RingGo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RingGo), they accept Credit Card, Premium SMS methods but not Crypto.

These type of companies have in the previous years been putting a lot of pressure on conventional coin and ticket machine manufacturers because their system is cost effective. Cobalt, RingGo's parent have now "securely processed over £1 billion" for "4,000 sites across the UK, by more than 60 local authorities, 10 railway operators and numerous private parking operators".

After having worked in the Parking Machine Manufacturing Industry for 5 years, I can see there being a huge amount of potential for this coin, its unique iOS / Android APPs and the backend processing servers.

The coin will provide basic functionality, we could then explore maybe a type of CMS marketplace where developers sell their own themes, plugins etc. for the backend server used by the parking companies.

I have set out the basic process from setup to checking tickets here: http://www.parkbyte.com/concept/

There is a 20% PKB premine; this will only be used to pay for development work and an adoption fund.

Coin Name: ParkByte
Algo: SHA256
Ticker: PKB
Block Time: 60seconds

POW - ENDED
Timeframe: ~27days
POW Coins: 3,688,710 PKB
20% Premine: 922,178 PKB
Premine Burn: 1,077,822 PKB
Total POW Supply: 4,610,888 PKB

POS
Min Stake time: 1hour
Year 1 - 5%
Year 2 - 4%
Year 3 and onwards 3%

25m Total Coin

RPC Port= 59060
P2P Port= 58060

PREMINE BURN ADDRESS:
PArkBytePremineBurnAddressXXXc6K95
Premine Split & Burn TX: 8149c25b420b6e906e58b786541cff123b4c99f365b44834c1476a3c0397ff1d

20% PREMINE ADDRESS
PGSQCZmNzvK3ivwb6D34asA4EcFsDxcYiB

The premine will mainly be used to encourage adoption within the Parking Industry.

Three Parking Related Companies will be chosen depending on their interests, customer base and adoption plans, each getting a 5% share of the current PKB supply (250,000PKB of 4,629,440 PKB)

There will also be a lottery to distribute between 50,000-100,000PKB to end users of ParkByte over a period of 1-2years. This is to encourage people to use ParkByte when they pay to park their car as there will be good chance of getting some free parking/refund, just by using a different method of payment

The APP will be based on the Open Source Android Coinomi Wallet

POW ENDED Big thanks to the pools who supported the POW phase: Suprnova, iSpace and Miningpools.tk

But if "providers" wanted to make a $100k server backend to do this, why wouldn't they just do it for bitcoin?

I really like this idea but I'm not sure why there needs to be a new coin to implement it.

Well there doesn't need to be a new coin, and there would be nothing to stop them doing it for bitcoin.

I do see a few benefits to using an alt coin rather than bitcoin.

TX Fee BTC its 0.0001BTC, PKB will be 0.0001PKB (unless 1PKB=1BTC this is a generous saving for 1000's of daily micro payments.)
Block times, PKB will be 1minute compared to bitcoins 30minute block
Users can stake their coins and earn interest on their parking change
Bitcoin doesn't have a specific target market, even though it will probably always be the leader of crypto it does have a bad image for its uses. ParkByte is specifically targeted at parking, not drugs, not anonymity and not to avoid the alphabet agencies' eyes.
Maybe just maybe Parkbyte *might* be less volatile

Lastly, Why not? I am only joining in on the mass altcoin creation I was starting to feel left out  Roll Eyes.

Thanks for the reply. The blocktime and Tx fees are good points, quick confirmations would certainly be advantageous and micropayments do need lower fees.

I understand wanting to jump on the altcoin train, too. But, too often devs want to do so for one reason and one reason only- quick profit- and then they abandon the project.

Agreed, I have seen it too and will most definitely see it again.

Quick profit is however usually a small profit, I know how much money is spent in the parking industry year in, year out and I'd prefer to try and get a slice of that pie rather than just putting another useless coin on the market for a quick $$.

Plus I hate finding change or using a credit card to pay for parking

Let's look at what we have here.

- clone coin
- a cool idea
- no support from any car park company in the business
- no support from any current car park system
- an anonymous dev/s making it impossible to judge their abilities to do such a thing
- basically free PoS coins.
- a premine.
- an idea for a software system that would cost $100,000 to build an alpha version.

My marketcap value estimate = $500 = 2 BTC. How much would you pay to get in on this coin?

My advice, do more planning, get connections, come back next year and try again.

I like this idea. Please provide us with any reasons you have to think that this coin will be a success.

Thanks for taking the time to read the thread before posting this time.

My quick sarcy response to that would normally be "well then ParkByte has a better potentional than other altcoins out there"

However here is a better response

I have worked for a leading parking machine manufacturer for 5 years, so I do have contacts.

I am not however like Homero Garza, claiming to have partnerships etc when i do not.

Therefore, there are no contracts, contacts, support or anything for this coin at this time.

It is merely an idea that people have the opportunity to speculate on, no one is forcing their hand.

The premine will be to pay for Development work

EDIT: sorry missed this point

The $100k to build you talk about, I assume you are talking about the server backend, the majority of this won't come from the coin.

The idea is that the coin provides basic framework, ease of integration and generically useable worldwide, think of this as the Blockchain.info but targeted specifically at paying to park your car.

It will then be upto the "Providers" to do the $100k work. I would then see some sort of marketplace opening up, where dev's make addons, plugins, themes etc, similar to the CMS used these days.

Simple app, no worries there. The hardest part will be convincing a parking company to accept highly volatile crypto. If it can be automatically converted to fiat for them, I think they might do it. Especially if they don't have a parking app already and you come to them with a slick easy to use interface.

60 day POW is a scam though

Convincing the parking companies would be down to the "PZB Processors", I would suggest a path like PZB to BTC, BTC to Bitpay,  Bitpay to Fiat.

Agreed, highly volatile crypto is risky and why should they accept it? Because sooner or later, with all the regulations coming out and crypto's increasing user base, ideas like this will flourish and old technology will die Smiley

60 day POW isn't a scam, just the coin spec, if 60day POW is a scam then I am sure you wont like the fact there will be a premine too.

So when will this coin launch?

Within the next week, I will give a firm date tomorrow.

Provide scans of contracts with the car park companies that are on board with this idea. Otherwise, stop wasting peoples time with a coin thats never going to do anything. Also provide proof that you have the capability to program such an app.

Provide proof you have an IQ above 65.

Another one? stop please

OMG a coin for parking your car? WTF.  Huh

Yes remember crypto is all about freedom. Oh wait no it's not. it's about the opinion of jackasses like this poster.

I expected people like these anyway, it is not their fault. I think people who post posts like these have probably been left holding a bag in the past and now every coin is just a scam or whatever.

Obviously this has and always will be the Dev's fault, you know because the dev did not do the research for them and then read them his findings.

Instead they probably blindly invested in a coin, didn't understand its intended use (real life use, a novelty coin or just an outright pump and dump coin) but put BTC in it when it was being pumped.

Top Tip, if you cannot be bothered to read, use some sort of text to speech addon

209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] ParkByte [PB] Short POW / POS - Digital Parking Tickets on: April 29, 2015, 08:49:01 PM

It is a short POW, currently its looking like a 60day POW/POS then 100% POS

Please provide screenshots of where I mentioned "contracts with the car park companies", there are currently 0 companies on board and I have never said otherwise.

I also did not say that I alone will be programming the app, the real issue you should be asking here is how do you get apple to list it in their store, but that would require thinking outside of the box.

Who's time am I wasting other than my own? you do not have to be apart of it. I believe an altcoin that has an real life idea behind it is 1000% better than most of the altcoins about

Thanks for contributing though..
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] ParkByte [PB] Short POW / POS - Digital Parking Tickets on: April 29, 2015, 04:41:30 PM

It it pretty obvious GPS location is not able to accurately describe your location as to which parking spot you are in so that is not really an option. You will have to get QR codes on each and every parking spot which seems more difficult than what I already do.

best of luck

I think the OP just wants to use GPS to identify the car park in general, not each individual bay.

He does bring up a good point though. Car parks with numbered spacing.

Easily solved the APP asks for the registration plate of the car (via ANPR and the camera) or the number of the bay

Where are parking with QR-code?
in my country i've never seen them...

but if you need an Escrow i've contacted you by PM

I currently use a couple parking apps in the states (currently available in Washington DC) that basically already offer these features, expect you store a credit card on file, instead of coins on a wallet. There are scannable QR codes too expedited payment.

parknow.com

Wouldn't it be good to have 1 APP using crypto, with all those providers able to use the ParkByte wallet's backend (IE, QR Code has the provider's server details in so it connects directly to that provider to handle the request)?

We have pay by text or phone here in the UK operated mainly by RingGo, and its a terrible system to use and you usually register with a credit card or pay by premium SMS

Specific, targeted, attainable use case. These kinds of altcoins are leading the charge.

I'll definitely be mining this.

Agreed man. Think how convenient it would be scanning a QR code to pay for parking directly from coin wallet. I've been looking for more coins like this with actual useful use-cases lol

Lets not forget having the ability to extend your parking time from your phone and get a refund on unused parking time

Thank you.

Yes I believe this will lay the path for normal everyday people to get a foot into crypto.

It or something similar will be accepted by big companies like (UK) RingGo, who's parent company "Cobalt’s automated systems have securely processed over £1 billion on behalf of our customers. Our market leading solutions are used by 100 local authorities, 10 rail operators and private companies such as NCP, NSL and Vinci. " I believe those are all UK Car Park Operators

Yes, you have obviously never tried to pay over the phone to park or via SMS, I am sure there are loads of complaints about how that system doesn't work (here in UK anyway)

Algo?

Likely SHA hasn't been decided yet
